In August 2003, the first Stuntman game launched on Game Boy Advance, arriving a full year after its PlayStation 2 counterpart. It remains the only entry in the series to appear on a Nintendo platform, which always made it feel like something of an outlier in the franchise's history. After 2007's Stuntman: Ignition, I never really expected to see the franchise return at all. So you can imagine my surprise when Stuntman: Hollywood appeared during the recent State of Play showcase.

I'm really glad to see DMZ getting its flowers recently, especially with its revival in Modern Warfare 4. But it isn't just the latest Call of Duty offering a dose of extraction shooter action. CODM has been delivering its own iteration of DMZ for a little while now, and you might not even realize it. Speaking to the head of Call of Duty Mobile, Jeffrey Gullett, I asked him about the challenges of bringing it to the small screen.

In my Rise of the Tomb Raider Switch 2 review, I look at whether the performance, mouse controls, and gyroscope controls hit the mark.

The recent Nintendo Direct had some exciting announcements, one of which occurred during the sizzle reel: Rise of the Tomb Raider is now on Nintendo Switch 2. The game was released on the platform that very day, giving you all the chance to experience the second installment of the Survivor trilogy in a new way. Rise of the Tomb Raider is 11 years old, first releasing on Xbox 360 and Xbox One back in 2015, with the PC and PlayStation 4 versions following in 2016. As such, I'm mostly going to focus on how well the game performs on the Nintendo Switch 2, along with whether the mouse and gyroscope controls are worth your time. However, I'll give a very brief rundown of the game overall. As a sequel to the 2013 reboot, you're still dealing with a baby-faced Lara. Yes, she's capable and has hardened since her ordeal on the island of Yara, but she still has a ways to go before firmly cementing herself as the hero you know from the older Tomb Raider games. In Rise, Miss Croft is searching for Kitezh, a legendary city lost in Russia. Naturally, she's not the only one searching for it, leading you to face off with the organization known as Trinity once more.

With a higher price and less storage, the return of the 12GB Retroid Pocket 6 could be another troubling sign of the times in the Android handheld market.

It's official: the Retroid Pocket 6 with 12GB of RAM is back. After Retroid discontinued the 12GB variant earlier this year, due to the effects of rising RAM and storage prices, it's a move we weren't anticipating from the Android handheld gaming brand. However, there are two pretty notable caveats to this relaunch, which could dampen the excitement for those who had hoped for its return, myself included. The most notable difference between this new model and the original is in the storage capacity. The original model offered 256GB of storage space for all your favorite games, but this new version has just 128GB. That's a bit of a concern, given the file size of some of the top picks from our guide to the best mobile games, such as Genshin Impact and Honor of Kings. You can upgrade the handheld's storage, thanks to its MicroSD card slot, but that's another expense, which, coincidentally, moves us on to the second sticking point. This new stick-top version of the Retroid Pocket 6 is retailing for $279, which is $20 more than the discontinued original. This hardly comes as a surprise, but if you combine the new price with the lower storage factor, it feels like you're getting a bit of a raw deal compared to those who got in early and picked up the original model before its discontinuation. That said, it's still cheaper than a lot of the top picks from our list of the best handheld consoles, such as the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go.

Spyro is swooping back into our lives on Nintendo Switch 2, but I’m concerned the gift of flight could turn out to be more of a curse for my beloved platforming dragon.

He's back. My sweet boy is back. Or rather, I should say, he's coming back. Yes, folks, I've spent the last few days freaking out about the Spyro: A Realm Beyond announcement, as has a solid chunk of the internet who started gaming in the late '90s or early '00s. However, the more I watch the trailer - and trust me, I've watched it quite a bit - the more I'm starting to worry. Could this be another false dawn for Spyro the Dragon fans? For context, this new entry in the series is courtesy of Toys for Bob, the developer behind Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which remains a top pick in our list of the best Switch games, and Skylanders. It's arriving 18 years after the launch of The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, the last standalone game in the series, and follows years of clamoring from Spyro fans, myself included, begging for more. It had started to feel like we'd never see another original Spyro game, a point I made clear in my Spyro retrospective earlier this year. Now, it's officially happening, with a wide release, including a version for Nintendo Switch 2, coming in 2027. So, what are my concerns? Well, the big one is the flying factor. Since the big reveal, Toys for Bob has been keen to highlight that their idea for leveling up the series, which they see as a continuation of the original trilogy, is to allow Spyro to take flight at a moment's notice. On paper, this sounds like a great idea and, in the developer's defense, the natural evolution of the series. However, when you take a closer look at the DNA of the series, there's a small problem. Spyro is, first and foremost, a platformer.

Roblox creature collectors are always so delightful, and this one is no different. This is especially true when considering that you can get Blox Monsters codes for freebies, boosting your progress. It's also fun to mix and match pets with your own innate traits as a trainer, as this can produce cool combinations. Codes will net you free fruits, which you can use to evolve your pet or reset its traits. You can also grab rerolls for your bloodline, which is handy in case you get a bloodline bonus you don't find particularly useful.

Boy, Summer Game Fest 2026 sure was something, huh? The entire weekend and into this week were jam-packed with exciting announcements for gamers around the world. As you might recall, I decided to put my thoughts on what we'd see (or, at least, what the Pocket Tactics team and I dreamed of seeing) ahead of the big event last Friday, and I'm back to look at what I got right, along with what my favorite announcements were from SGF Live and the subsequent showcases. Without question, the best showcase for me was the Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, a 50-minute presentation that finally showed off more about Kingdom Hearts IV. I was hoping and praying that Square Enix would take pity on us at SGF, and the company answered those prayers in a big way, even letting us know that the existing collection of Kingdom Hearts games is getting a native port for the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Perhaps you're not so Heartless after all, Square. Actually, I know the company isn't, not after finally unveiling the third and concluding game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. Not only did we finally get a look at FF7 Revelations, but we know that it's coming to Nintendo Switch 2 day one, a bit of news that practically had our Editor Ruby levitating. In fact, I'm surprised she can function at the moment, as this whole Summer Game Fest season was very Ruby-coded, with JRPGs left, right, and center; Xenoblade Genesis appearing during the Nintendo Direct was her cherry on top. She was so sure it wouldn't appear that she didn't even bother with the clown makeup.

Can you believe it's been three years since Dave the Diver first released? Time sure does fly. For the third anniversary, we're getting the man himself in Fortnite, a global mobile version of the game, and even more DLC. I recently - finally - got into the game, and it feels like a great time that I did so. On June 28, 2023, Dave made his debut dive on Steam, launching the pixely deep-sea simulator out to the masses. The game then came to Nintendo Switch in October of the same year, but now, three years later, we can play it on mobile. After a successful test in China, the game will come to Google Play and the App Store worldwide in August. If that's not enough, you can play as the delightful diver in Fortnite, as a new outfit of his classic wetsuit and back bling of his oxygen tank are available to anyone who gets Dave the Diver or the 'In the Jungle' DLC through the Epic Games Store. The skin launches on June 25.

The picture of beauty and grace, Pokémon's Dragonair soars through the air with ease - and you can ride on it, but only if you know how to catch it.

A thing of beauty, Pokémon's Dragonair is like if a dragon was also kind of a fish. It hangs around in water a lot, looks a little bit like a cross between a dragon and a dolphin, and has an elegant aura. It also packs a punch, having a slightly more gutsy side to it despite a sweet demeanor. Let's look at what you need to know about it, including its evolutions, locations, moves, and more. Right before we do, make sure you've gotten all your Pokémon Pokopia Mystery Gift codes and Pokémon Go codes. That way, your Pokédex will never end up empty, and you'll be catching 'em all in no time.

If there's one creature you want to get your hands on in Kanto (or any other region it resides in), it's the Pokémon Dratini. This little dragon goes on to become the pseudo-legendary Dragonite, a beast so skillful that it can even deliver mail when not busy battling. Still, to get to that point, you need to pick up some wins with Dratini on your team, so let's dive into its strengths, weaknesses, and what moves it can learn. As much as we love Dratini and its evolutions, there are many other creatures worthy of your attention, so make sure you check out our complete Pokédex to learn about more than 1k Pokémon.

Whether it's a sexy trapdoor, a speakeasy in your electrical wiring box, or your bed itself flirting with you, Date Everything's got something for everyone, cementing its iconic status in dating simulation gaming history. The iconic visual novel came out on June 17, 2025, for Pride Month, meaning it's approaching its first anniversary - and it wants to bring you into the fold, Hanks-style, with its new Self-Care update, which is out right now. In case you aren't familiar with the gem that is Date Everything, the game pretty much does what it says on the tin. You enter a house with a pair of 'Dateviator' glasses, which allow you to court any object you can see inside by anthropomorphizing it. It's as hilarious as it sounds, as your clock has a different alias depending on the time of day, your laundry and washing basket are in a toxic relationship, and even a shadow comes to life as an Internet edgelord. Add in some awesome voice acting from the likes of Ben Starr, Laura Bailey, and Matthew Mercer, and you have the game. A year on from its launch, Date Everything has a cult following, a reputation for being inclusive yet a little cheesy, and a legacy that's already shaped the dating games scene. You can read more of our thoughts about the game in our Date Everything review, which praises its charm and silliness.

Rhythm Heaven Groove could be the silliest game of the year, possibly even beating out Tomodachi Life.

When I reviewed Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, I gave it a 10/10, citing its funny and surprising nature as a strong reason for it to be a GOTY contender. What I didn't fully tap into, and what I can now see after I previewed Rhythm Heaven Groove, is just how great Nintendo is at being charmingly weird. With 80 solo stages, 30 multiplayer levels, and a whole new game mode in Beatspell, Rhythm Heaven Groove is coming for the title of most adorable uncanny game of 2026. The first game (outside of Japan, anyway) just celebrated the Rhythm Heaven 17th anniversary, and the series hasn't had a new release since Rhythm Heaven Megamix on the 3DS back in 2015, so I was curious to see what a new generation game could look like. It sparkles on the Nintendo Switch 2, with smooth visuals and responsive controls, as well as utilizing the console's multiplayer capabilities with local co-op, with both cooperative and player-versus-player modes. Let it be known that I think the PvP cake level is going to cause some controversy.

If you're wondering what to have for lunch, we recommend sushi - specifically from the Sushiro x Zenless Zone Zero collaboration. Head to Sushiro locations in the Osaka Prefecture and Akihabara, Tokyo, to take part. Between June 24 and July 12, you can grab items off a themed menu, which come with character art cards. Large shrimp, whelk shellfish, and duck breast are the meats on the menu, crafted into delectable-looking sushi pieces. There's also Mille-Crepe Melba and Lemon Cheesecake dessert items, which look positively delightful. Yanagi, Seth, Yuzuha, and Lighter take the center stage, but Miyabi and Harumasa also make an appearance. That's right, Hoyoverse finally remembers Harumasa. He might not be on the banner (yet), but it's something.

The Pokémon Articuno goes by many names. The Freeze Pokémon, Cruel Pokémon, or, if you translate its name in Japanese, it's just 'Freezer'. Despite its cold name and appearance, its secondary form - introduced in Galar - doesn't actually have any ice-typing. It's still a fearsome bird, though. Articuno is the first of the legendary bird trio in the Pokédex, using ice and psychic-type moves. If you're interested in other ice Pokémon or psychic Pokémon, we can recommend some in our guides.

The Honor Magic V6 is the Chinese brand’s new crowning achievement, marking the first foldable that I’d recommend to anyone, not just tech enthusiasts.

I won't lie, I've been a bit of a foldable phone cynic for a while now. I can't deny they're almost always wildly impressive, but the high price points of the likes of the Google Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold have always put me off feeling like I truly needed one. At least, that was the case until I started putting together this Honor Magic V6 review. After just over a month putting this phone through its paces, I don't know if I can go back. Without ruining too much of the rest of this review, the Honor Magic V6 feels like a culmination of the brand's work in the foldable arena over the last half a decade or so. It's still not quite perfect, but it's closer than ever, improving on the most important issues with the previous model, the V5, and leaving the door open for software patches to fix the few remaining obstacles. So, are we looking at a new top entry for our guide to the best foldable phones? Let's find out.

After murmurs of an expansion hit the airwaves, those rumors are coming to fruition in Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Not only is this an expanded version of the base game, but Capcom is launching it on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9, 2026.

The last crumb of Kingdom Hearts 4 information arrived in the form of some screenshots on social media, and a message telling us that Square Enix is currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts IV. Well, a Nintendo Direct has delivered, and we finally got a new KH4 trailer. If you need to refresh your memory, here's the last tweet we had to go on till now. But this new trailer has showcased brand-new characters, combat, and that it will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, so we don't have to pore over still images any longer. The most exciting bit of footage I caught a glimpse of was young Xehanort holding an umbrella for Sora in the rain. I need to know more right now. Nintendo really won the Summer Game Fest season.

For the longest time, rumors have swirled around an Ocarina of Time remake, and, thanks to the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, we finally know that it's really happening, bringing joy to The Legend of Zelda fans worldwide. The Pocket Tactics team was more than a little divided on the prospect of the game appearing today, so I would like to take a moment to say that I'm vindicated. The Legend of Zelda turned 40 earlier this year and, honestly, the celebration was a little lackluster to say the least, and that's what made me convinced news of the Ocarina of Time remake had to be coming. Nintendo can't let such a huge milestone pass by, and OoT remains one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. Originally, Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in November 1998 on the Nintendo 64, with it being the first Zelda game to embrace 3D graphics. Over the years, Ocarina of Time has appeared on numerous Nintendo consoles, including the GameCube and Nintendo 3DS, the latter of which is home to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Nintendo has finally revealed Xenoblade Genesis, a brand new chapter for the series.

I had my clown make-up on for many announcements during today's Nintendo Direct, but I hadn't even considered that a brand new Xenoblade game would arrive. I'm so glad I was wrong, as Xenoblade Genesis looks like an exciting new adventure I can't wait to experience in 2027. Mere seconds after revealing that Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3 are set to receive enhanced Switch 2 versions, Nintendo revealed Xenoblade Genesis, a brand new chapter for the series that features warriors known as Vesselai. The main character appears to go to a school named Leukos and wield a blade imbued with an Anima crystone. I get vague Persona vibes as the main character seems to need to complete academic life while not taking part in battle.

"This is the greatest announcement this decade," said my die-hard Fire Emblem fan friends when they heard the news of the Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave release date. It's safe to say that the hype is real and we're ready for combat. With four fresh protagonists and a whole kingdom to explore, Fortune's Weave looks like it's taking things to a new level, which is great news for fans of tactical RPG gameplay. As ever, you'll be able to recruit new allies to your cause, and we're already looking forward to taking on some new units for hard-fought battles in the arena. The latter part of the trailer also seems to feature Sothis, a returning character from Three Houses. We're already wondering what that might mean for the story and whether we'll reunite with any of the familiar faces from Garreg Mach Monastery. Whatever the case, this looks like another engaging entry for the classic Nintendo series.

Grab your diving gear, friends, Pokémon Pokopia is getting an underwater-themed expansion as part of the game's upcoming content updates. You can download a free software update for Pokopia in August 2026, which lets you dive underwater using an air bubble around Ditto's head. This means we can build and decorate under the sea! That's not all, though - an Expansion Pass is coming that adds a new biome called Bubble Basin. This is a fully submerged area with mermaid-themed furniture, coral-shaped plants, and plenty of water-type Pokémon.

After the port's initial announcement in June 2024, the Don't Starve Together mobile release date is finally within reach. Netflix Games, in partnership with Playdigious, was originally behind bringing Klei Entertainment's hit multiplayer survival game to the small screen, but now, the port is launching on Android and iOS, independent of any subscription service. Despite launching 12 years ago, Don't Starve Together is still one of Klei Entertainment's most popular games, with an active player base across multiple platforms. After Netflix Games announced the mobile port and then swiftly shelved the project, we weren't sure whether Android and iOS players would ever get an official way to join the fun. Well, Playdigious delivered on its promise from January 2025 of continuing to work with Klei, and now anyone will be able to access the port without a Netflix subscription. For the uninitiated, Don't Starve Together is a standalone multiplayer version of Klei's creepy survival game that adds in new characters and mechanics for you and your friends to figure out as you battle against the unfriendly wilderness. Playdigious' mobile port is a faithful recreation of the game we know and love, featuring a revamped interface, Game Center achievements, cloud save for cross-progression, controller compatibility, and full optimization for the iPhone 17 line.

The Ayn Thor and Odin 3 are in for yet another price hike as the RAM crisis continues to wreak havoc on the handheld market.

While it's been a rough year in general for handheld gamers, it's been particularly tough for the Android contingent. We've seen brands such as Ayaneo and Retroid discontinue devices and raise prices due to knock-on effects from RAM availability issues and rising costs. Now the Ayn Thor is back in the spotlight, confirming that it's boosting the price of its Nintendo DS-style handheld for the fourth time since it launched back in October 2025. For those that don't know, the Ayn Thor is a clamshell Android device that has, until now, served as a cheaper alternative to some of the PC picks from our guide to the best handheld consoles. As for the Odin 3, that's the latest version of Ayn's flagship series of devices, offering elite performance, thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, in a relatively compact form factor. The premium Ayn Thor Max with 1TB of storage has been hit the hardest by the price hikes, currently sitting at $549, over $100 more expensive than its $429 launch price. Fortunately, the base model Thor hasn't gone up in price quite as much, but at $319, it's still $20 more expensive than it was. As for the Odin 3, the cheapest version is currently $339, up $10 from its original price. This is all before the latest round of price hikes, though.

Pokémon's Vileplume is arguably less vile-looking than Gloom, but still features a rafflesia flower on its head. If you don't know what that is, it's often called the 'stinking corpse lily', and smells like rotting flesh. How charming. Regardless of smell, Vileplume has a cute little face and can do some damage in a poison-based team. You can see our guide to the full Pokédex here to see who's next.
You skezzed, choom? Well, you shouldn't be - Wuthering Waves may have added Adam Smashers, but there are two Cyberpunk Edgerunners characters to help you fight them back. That's right, we got to jump into the collaboration early and see what it's all about. Two of the main characters of the Cyberpunk animated show, Rebecca and Lucy, make their debut in Wuthering Waves as playable units in update 3.4. Their kits match their style and add a fresh, futuristic set of animations. Rebecca has fun, zippy combat, reminiscent of Lynae's mobility. She uses a lot of guns, and her ultimate has different levels of firepower. She can even deploy a turret, named Guts, which stays on the field and shoots down enemies in her stead.

A Reddit user has introduced the GyroDrive to the world, a mount that lets you use your Steam Deck as a steering wheel controller

As a handheld and dockable device, the Steam Deck already has plenty of uses. Still, that doesn't stop the community from coming up with ingenious ways to get more out of Valve's console, and the latest is quite impressive. A Reddit user has turned their Steam Deck into a working steering wheel for driving games, thanks to the help of a 3D-printed mount, and better still, you can do it too. The original post is from Reddit user Avaron_3D, featuring a short clip showing the Steam Deck steering wheel attachment, known as the GyroDrive, in action, along with a description of the process. It works thanks to the Steam Deck's gyroscope, which reads the handheld's movements, and, when combined with the mount, you can enable gyroscopic controls to use the Deck like a steering-wheel peripheral. The mount even accounts for the handheld's vents, so you're not going to suffer from overheating issues while driving, and, according to the creator, it offers a sense of force feedback. The post suggests that this is just the start of a larger project, with Avaron_3D intending on following up with pedals, controller support, and a manual shifter in the future. The video clip is also worth checking out, as you can see the Steam Deck in action, and the controls look pretty impressive, following the user's movements throughout a lap of a race track. As for how the Steam Deck connects to the monitor, it seems that, like the best Steam Deck docks, all it requires is a USB-C connection via the handheld's port.

Valheim released into early access in February 2021, and now, five years and four months later, it gets a proper release date for version 1.0, complete with a new biome, challenges, weather, and... confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version. I've been a fan of Valheim since it first dropped. From wandering through the woods, unsure where to go, chopping some wood and building a crude hut, to making a delightful town with my friends (which then got raided by wolves) - you name it, I've done it. Now, I can do it all again on Nintendo Switch 2. If you've never played Valheim, I highly recommend it if you like a semi-cozy, Viking-themed survival game. You can play it alone or in co-op, then go building, forging, fishing, fighting, farming - you name it, it's there. I do recommend taming some wild boar and getting some bees on the go, as their foodstuffs are very handy. Plus, when you feed them enough, you get a notice saying "boar loves you", which is just delightful.

During the Xbox Games Showcase, Toys for Bob debuts the first trailer for Spyro: A Realm Beyond, and man, it's so good to see this little purple legend back on the scene. It's only a brief look at Spyro's return, but it isn't just launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It's coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. That alone makes Pocket Tactics' Connor Christie very, very happy.

There are few platforms that Final Fantasy 14 is yet to arrive on, but finally, it gets to take over the Nintendo Switch 2 as well. If you've never played it, the game is a cross-platform MMO adventure where the world is, naturally, on your shoulders. Announced a while ago, Square Enix needed some time to cook. So when's this game actually coming? It'll start off with early access, as eventually, Final Fantasy XIV's Nintendo Switch 2 port will require you to purchase a pass to play it. It won't require an NSO membership, so don't worry about that, and if you already have an active FFXIV subscription on your account, you get the Switch 2 pass at half price. Anyway, let's find out when the game will be hitting your Nintendo console.

I know, Roblox and soulslike action is a strange combination, but don't walk away just yet. Apocrypha is a challenging MMO experience that is heavily influenced by Dark Souls and Elden Ring, promising big boss fights and mysterious lands to uncover. If you've wondered if there are any Apocrypha codes out there, we can go on this journey together. But be warned, just because you're after some rewards, it doesn't mean the battle ahead will get any easier. It's down to you to rise and overcome evil - or something inspiring like that.

Chicago’s streets were flooded with people attending Pokémon Go Fest, competing for space with World Cup supporters and Blues Festival attendees.

If you were looking forward to freely exploring the city with your fellow trainers at this weekend's Pokémon Go Fest Chicago, you'll be a little disappointed, as Niantic has turned off gameplay across a popular section of the City Experience play area around the Field Museum in "cooperation with local authorities." The main event at Grant Park is unaffected, but this closure still leaves a sour taste in our mouths. Pokémon Go Fest Chicago is the second of three in-person Go Fest events happening this year, with the first event in Tokyo going off without a hitch just last weekend. As a game that encourages getting out into your community and meeting new people, these kinds of Pokémon Go events obviously attract a lot of trainers, and Niantic and Chicago's local authorities seemed to forget this when scheduling the celebration to clash with at least four other events in the city, including a World Cup match. After various issues around physical congestion around the Field Museum and Chicago Loop, and some connectivity problems, Niantic took to its Support X account to report that it was pausing gameplay for the rest of Saturday, June 6. The blog post that followed confirmed that the "temporary" suspension will continue throughout Sunday, June 7, cutting off a core section of the Friendship District of the event from gameplay.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 after over a year of waiting.

Tarnished, it's time to rise once more as Elden Ring is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this summer, over a year since its initial reveal for the handheld console. Bandai Namco quietly announced the release date on its website and social media, instead of giving us a reveal during the SGF showcase. Elden Ring first came out in 2022, quickly cementing itself as one of the best Soulslike games you can play, with its DLC further supporting that upon its release in 2024. After months of waiting for its Nintendo Switch 2 debut, we now know that it launches on August 28, 2026. You play as a Tarnished whose mission is to become the Elden Lord, following what I can only describe as a huge mess courtesy of Queen Marika. It features a vast open world where danger lurks around every corner and bosses await to put an end to your journey.

Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2 is coming, but Capcom opted not to reveal the news at SGF.

Summer Game Fest 2026's main showcase has been and gone, and whether or not you were jumping for joy at the announcements, there's always more gaming news right around the corner. Indeed, Capcom has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds, choosing to do so on the same day as SGF, but not at the event itself, despite the game's slot for the new DLC, Ascendance. I guess Geoff Keighley can't have all the exclusives. As of right now, we don't have much to go on in terms of a release date. The official Monster Hunter Twitter/X account posted: "Monster Hunter Wilds is currently in development for Nintendo Switch 2! We'll have more info to share, including the release date, in the future". This means that, while it's been worked on actively, the Switch 2 version of the game could still be a while away. We're most likely looking at a late 2026 release at the earliest, or even a 2027 one, depending on how long the team has already been working away on it. 2027 would make sense, given that Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance, the game's newly announced expansion, is expected to arrive then. The Switch 2 version could be an all-in-one package of the base game and DLC, as we've seen with the Nintendo Switch 2's Elden Ring version, which would be slightly annoying to me as someone who games on a budget.

It's finally here, folks, Summer Game Fest 2026. Now in its sixth year, SGF is one of the highlights of the gaming calendar, with Geoff Keighley treating us to release date reveals, gameplay teasers, and much more. If you're looking to catch up on all the big announcements, we've got you covered with this round-up. Before the show began, we'd set our expectations pretty high, manifesting Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, Kingdom Hearts 4, and a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, among plenty of other anticipated and rumored games. So, did we get what we were hoping for? Let's get into it.

Did you just hear a distant screeching noise and dramatic wailing? That was me, sorry. Square Enix has finally revealed Final Fantasy 7 Revelation during Summer Game Fest, and it's launching on my favorite console, the Nintendo Switch 2, in Spring 2027! I don't think my year can get much better. In the trailer, we got a glimpse of Vincent in battle, Ruby Weapon stomping through a field, and some sick parachutes. Before learning from Hamaguchi that the game will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, and PC at the same time, meaning the days of Sony holding exclusivity are now over. We can't wait to play as Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine in part three, as though they appeared in Rebirth, they were passive observers and didn't get their time to shine in battle. As this is the grand finale of the trilogy, it'll be interesting to see how Square Enix wraps things up with the divergent timelines and presence of Zack.

For the longest time, the rumor mill told us that Capcom had a Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake in the works, and at Summer Game Fest 2026, we finally learned that it's real. I love RECV; it's an excellent entry, though the original is admittedly pretty dated, so I'm chuffed to see that Capcom is following up Requiem with it. Hints of a Resident Evil Code Veronica remake have been circling for a long time, and I'm thrilled to finally see it come to fruition. Because, let's face it, this is the RE adventure many of us want to revisit next. If you've read my Resident Evil Requiem Review, you'll know that it runs like a dream on the console, spurring hope of seeing other existing Resident Evil games following it. One of the reasons I consider Code Veronica to be one of the best Resident Evil games is that it features Claire Redfield, a certified badass who, if you ask me, is a much better character than her big brother Chris. Mind you, not every face you see in CV is great, as the game shares the same issue as Resident Evil 4, featuring an incredibly annoying character in the form of Steve.

Hoyoverse released a ten-minute-long Zenless Zone Zero trailer today, showcasing the new area and combat mechanics coming to the game in update 3.0. The trailer officially launched in the wee hours of June 5 to get some hype started before the Summer Games Fest fun kicks off later in the day. In it, we get a look at what we can expect in Roscaelifer. This includes a new home for the Proxy, big buildings to explore, and more mechanics to help us get around... such as flying as a rocket-powered Bangboo. Speaking of Bangboo, it seems we get stretched, perhaps grown-up versions in 3.0. For whatever reason, some of them are taller here. Also, shout-out to the 'Phantom of the Bangboo' poster I spied - the citizens of Roscaelifer have great theater show taste.

It's time to talk about one of the coolest fossil Pocket Monsters out there, and that's the Pokémon Kabutops. Debuting in Kanto, it continues to be among the very best prehistoric beasts, and not just because of how it looks, as you'll soon see as we dive into its moves, base stats, strengths, weaknesses, and more. If Kabutops has you wanting to learn about the other fossil Pokémon, and not just the likes of Omastar and Aerodactyl from generation one, make sure you check out our complete Pokédex, where you can learn about every creature in the franchise.

'Tis the season for amazing game announcements and SGF showcases, and this year's Women-Led Games Showcase gave us cozy fans a few things to look forward to - especially for those of us who like to curl up with our Nintendo Switches. The games mentioned in the stream are made by studios either led by a woman or composed of majority-women teams, so we're excited to support the queens of the industry with some games, including Barbie: Horse Ride & Rescue and Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker. Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker is a prequel to the events of the main game, coming to both Switches, as well Steam on June 9. If you've never played the original, you run a tavern and must serve customers, listening to their stories and chatting with them as you go. The prequel explores a new tavern 36 years prior to the original game, promising returning characters and a whole new world of trouble. The developer, Gentle Troll Entertainment, raised funds for both games on Kickstarter, and promises an overhaul of the drinks mixing system, as well as adding additional quests. Barbie: Horse Ride & Rescue is a new game by studio PikPok releasing on your mobile and Switch 2, as well as Steam. It'll be here in 2027 and naturally involves some funky horse riding with Barbie and pals. It's your job to rescue the horses, customize your look, and do some riding challenges. It'll be great for younger players, and there's also a story element by the sounds of the trailer, which suggests mysteries in the surrounding Moonrise Valley.

A questionable leak claims that an affordable and compact Sega-licensed handheld is in its early stages of development.

The year is 2026, and, according to a rumor posted on Reddit, a new Sega handheld could be on the way. That's a sentence I didn't anticipate writing, given that 2020's Game Gear Micro turned out to be something of a disappointment and we've seen no new handhelds from the brand since then. Still, the rumor is pretty detailed, and while the original poster thinks it points to a "dedicated 2D platform with physical media," we think the description makes it sound more like an affordable Evercade-style device. The rumor, first spotted by Time Extension, is courtesy of a Reddit post by a user who claims to work for a small electronics manufacturer that has received an RFQ (request for quotation) from a company that has previously licensed Sega hardware, not Sega itself. According to the poster, the pitch specs include a 5-inch OLED display, removable game cartridges, and a low-power ARM processor. The pitch also reportedly emphasizes the product as a "low-cost gaming device," which, combined with the cartridge factor, makes it sound a lot like the Super Pocket, a top pick from our guide to the best retro handhelds. As for the cartridges, the poster says they look like "low-capacity industrial eMMC modules," which, unlike some components that are skyrocketing in price due to RAM availability, are cheap and widely available.

Our Illusion Connect tier list will help save you a heck of a lot of time and materials, as you can focus on building only the best units you have. This definitive list ranks all of the available characters you can get from the in-game banners, from SS-tier to D-tier. Remember, though, if you like a character that's in a lower tier and enjoy using them, you can continue doing so. While using the strongest fighters can be fun, it's also nice to go with the ones you connect with.

Ah, Summer Game Fest. I look forward to this event every year, particularly SGF Live hosted by Geoff Keighley. It kicks off an exciting period of announcements for games we both know about and others we're yet to hear of. Every gamer worldwide has a list of things they dream of seeing, and I, along with the rest of the Pocket Tactics team, am no exception. So, allow me to tell you exactly what I want to see on Friday night. Let's start with two words and a number: Kingdom Hearts 4. I'm beginning to think Square Enix might be Heartless with how long we've been waiting just for crumbs for KH4. Seriously, I feel like I'm in Oliver Twist, except I'm standing outside Le Grand Bistrot in Twilight Town saying, "Please, Square, can I have some more?" Take pity on a girl, would you? Show me Sora, Donald, and Goofy. If Square Enix doesn't want to give us that, at the very least, it can let us in on the final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. My boss is the biggest FF fan out there, so much so that she's placed the franchise in an eternal state of dibs for reviews, so do the Pocket Tactics team a favor and show it off. In all seriousness, I can't wait for the concluding game; FF7R and Rebirth are both fantastic, so I know it's going to end on a high.

Neverness to Everness' Chiz is the Pink Paws Bank manager, whom you'll see when you enter the building to start a heist. She's shy, but don't let that fool you - she packs a profit-filled punch in fights. Her kit revolves around stock prices, and she even gets boosts depending on how many fons you currently own with her arc. If you need some more fons to boost her damage, grab the new NTE codes from our guide. You can also see what's happening in Heathereu as part of these Neverness to Everness events, too.

The Pokémon Omastar is among just five fossil creatures to appear in Kanto, evolving from Omanyte. It's quite a formidable beast to have on your team, especially if you know what moves to give it and what base stats you're working with, which is where we come in. Fossil Pokémon tend to be quite interesting, being rather unique in that they're from the prehistoric period, so we highly recommend you check out our complete Pokédex to learn about all of them.
