Call of Duty is no stranger to collaborations, but the CoD: Mobile and Honkai Impact 3rd partnership appears to be one of the more thrilling ones in recent times, and I can't wait to dive in when Season 8, Against All Fate, kicks off later this month. It isn't just a case of weapon skins and operator outfits; the collaboration spans the entire game, including not just standard multiplayer but the battle royale mode, too. The FPS game is getting new story missions for those of you who care about the narrative, along with fresh operators, a character encyclopedia, and a new collection system. However, it's the new top-down shooter mode that turns CoD: Mobile into a roguelike game that intrigues me the most. This game mode tasks you with teaming with three other players to fight off waves of enemies across three different maps, culminating in a challenging boss fight. I love a challenge, so you can be sure I'll be grabbing some pals for a couple of runs.

Nobody said running a farm is easy, but we can all agree that a heads-up about the zombies would have been nice. Mind you, at least it keeps things interesting, and it's not like you're completely helpless, thanks to Defend My Ring Farm codes. Plus, you get to grow your very own army - honestly, it reminds us of Plants vs Zombies, and we're here for it. Beyond asking crops and flowers to defend our farm, we also enjoy the freedom to expand it and make the land our own. Then, to top it all off, your army keeps earning money for you even when you're offline. Work smarter, not harder, people.

Did you just hear a distant screeching noise and dramatic wailing? That was me, sorry. Square Enix has finally revealed the Final Fantasy 7 Revelation release date, and it's launching simultaneously on all consoles on April 8, 2027! I don't think my 2027 can get much better. In a new trailer during the September State of Play, we got an even better look at Vincent and Cid in battle, Ruby Weapon stomping through a field, and some sick parachutes. The super-quick glimpse of an Aerith and Zack reunion also built my hype substantially. We can't wait to play as Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine in part three, as though they appeared in Rebirth, they were passive observers and didn't get their time to shine in battle. As this is the grand finale of the trilogy, it'll be interesting to see how Square Enix wraps things up with the divergent timelines and presence of Zack.

The Oukitel WP600 is both a gaming phone that can take a dunking and a rugged phone fit for a bit of Genshin Impact.

In the world of rugged phones, Oukitel is a pretty big deal, with the Chinese company offering countless devices built to survive whatever you throw at them. The brand's latest device is a bit different, though. The Oukitel WP600 isn't just a rugged phone. It doubles as a gaming phone, complete with two active fans to keep things cool when you're playing Honkai Star Rail, PUBG Mobile, or your mobile game of choice. In terms of specs, the Oukitel WP600 matches up to some of the top picks from our guide to the best gaming phones in multiple departments. It comes with up to 24GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a massive 10,000 mAh battery. Its chip, the Dimensity 8300, isn't quite as state-of-the-art as the likes of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Apple's A19 Pro, but it's still capable of running the best mobile games. As well as impressive internal hardware, the Oukitel WP600 also boasts a 6.8-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, which should provide smooth gaming visuals. The design is pretty funky too, with a partially transparent back that shows off some cool RGB lighting and the internal fans. Oh, and it's yellow, and that's always fun.

I've never been more vindicated than when I take someone down with my shotgun right after they've kicked the ball from under my feet, and the only thing more fun than revenge is freebies. We're here to chat about Illegal Soccer codes with you. There aren't any for right now, but you can find all about how to redeem them later on, how to join the game's Discord server, and what the codes do. For now, we're stuck buying upgrades with Robux.

Ahead of Gamescom 2026, I knew I'd be getting hands-on Worms: Galactic Tactics, but publisher Team17 kept details beyond that to an absolute minimum. Seeing that Absolutely Games is taking it in a completely different direction in person at Opening Night Live certainly piqued my interest.

I didn’t expect Roco Kingdom to be one of my favorite experiences at Gamescom, but now I can’t wait to dive into the game’s full release.

I'm going to be honest with you, despite being tuned in to the mobile gaming scene, Roco Kingdom had somehow completely missed my radar. When I was offered the opportunity to play the game and interview Xiaoye Tang, the global content lead, I thought, 'why not?' I love a creature collector, and there's no denying Roco Kingdom looks very cute. Well, I've never been more glad to give something a go on a whim. Roco Kingdom is absolutely adorable, scratched a creature-collecting itch I didn't get from Palworld, and Xiaoye Tang was so passionate about the game it was almost infectious. If you're new to this franchise, it's actually been a smash hit in China over the last 16 years, spanning videogames, four feature films, an animated series, and over 100 published books. If that vast history feels a little off-putting, Roco Kingdom acts as a soft reboot for the series, meaning you don't need any background knowledge before jumping in, so if you like free-to-play, open-world, creature-collecting RPGs, this is the game for you. However, to give you a bit of valuable base knowledge, the creatures in this game are called Jinies, and they're very cute.

Buckle up, we've got a new theme park game coming in hot. Today, management sim vets Frontier announced a collab with the gigantic behemoth that is Disney, and I'm having a lot of fun speculating what type of game we'll get from the partnership. Frontier Developments has "entered into an agreement with Disney", where the companies promise to develop and publish a game that "draw[s] on Disney's iconic portfolio of IP". Given that Frontier is famous for its simulation games like the Jurassic World Evolution series, Planet Coaster, and Planet Zoo (and the relevant sequels coming soon), this tells me one thing: it's almost definitely going to be a Disney game focused on making our very own Disneyland and running it how we want.

The Virtual Pokémon, Porygon, is an iconic, vaguely duck-shaped polygonal critter. It's made purely of code and was created by Silph Co to enter cyberspace and essentially be a living part of their computers. Porygon can actually change its appearance - similar to Ditto - to assist in its camouflage abilities, though you can't use this in games, sadly. Don't count Porygon out because it's a normal-type Pokémon - it has a lot of moves up its sleeve and is one of the most interesting-looking creatures in the entire Pokédex.

Featuring both the DLC and fresh content, my review dives into whether or not Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is worth your money.

I'm no stranger to the Lands Between. I've journeyed from Limgrave all the way to Leyndell, the Capital of Ash, more times than I can count in the last five years, and I can brag that I beat Radahn before he was nerfed - twice. Still, I'm always raring to go again, but this time I got to try Elden Ring on a completely different platform, as it's finally available on the Nintendo Switch 2. Honestly, the wait for this port has felt so long, with us first learning about it last year before the launch of the hardware. Still, I've finally been able to experience FromSoftware's masterpiece on the hybrid console, and I'm here to tell you exactly what you can expect from the port, along with my thoughts on the additions that the Tarnished Edition brings. As the base game is five years old and the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is two years old, I won't go into them too much, as the odds are you're very familiar with them, even if you've yet to experience Elden Ring firsthand. I'm happy to offer a quick rundown, though. Without question, Elden Ring is the second-best Soulslike developed by FromSoftware - we all know Bloodborne is in first place; don't try to come for me. The Lands Between is nothing short of a joy to explore, though it does fall a bit short in the Mountaintop of the Giants, thanks to its wide, empty spaces and lackluster boss fights, which is a shame considering every other area in the game is fantastic. I'm a huge fan of the crafting system, wanting to see more of it in the next Soulslike FromSoftware graces us with.

No, apparently that doesn’t make it a laptop.

Since the dawn of the Steam Deck, we haven't seen many handheld gaming PCs push the boat out in terms of different form factors. Sure, there was the Lenovo Legion Go, with its Nintendo Switch-like detachable controllers, but for the most part, a lot of the best Steam Deck alternatives look a lot like Valve's own handheld. Something a little bit different could be in the works, though, in the form of the new Acer Project DualPlay Mini concept. The Project DualPlay Mini is essentially half handheld console, half gaming laptop, equipped with its very own keyboard. With its flip-and-swivel display, the device looks to seamlessly transform form factors, depending on what you need at the time. If you're playing FPS games, you can bust out the keyboard for more control, or, if you're playing something that suits a traditional controller scheme, you can keep it folded away and play fully handheld. In terms of specs, we don't have many confirmed details, but we know that it packs an Intel processor, uses the same cooling hardware as the Predator Atlas 8, and looks to have an 8-inch display. Acer also suggests the Project DualPlay Mini can connect to an external display, adding even more use cases. Outside of that, it's all guesswork.

Ever since Ananta was first revealed back in 2023 as Project Mugen, the Pocket Tactics team has kept a very close eye on this unique, free-to-play, urban RPG. What seemed initially like a run-of-the-mill gacha game entering an already saturated market, Ananta soon moved away from the pack, with fairer monetization and the ability to unlock any character you want purely by playing the game. So I leapt at the opportunity to interview Link, Ananta's Global Publishing Lead, and Rain, Ananta's International Marketing Lead, during Gamescom last week, and made sure I asked the hard-hitting questions about why the game deserves your time, what we can expect from the monetization model, and, most importantly, whether there are hot men?!

In 2025, Poco stepped into the flagship market with the Poco F8 Ultra, which was one of my favorite phones of the year. It was still cheaper than the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra or the iPhone 17 Pro Max but felt just as premium, proving that the Xiaomi sub-brand could deliver not just affordability but also high-quality devices. Now, it's the turn of the Poco F9 Ultra, and I've spent the last week or so putting the phone through its paces. Just like last year, I'm impressed. While the F9 Ultra is a bit more expensive than its predecessor, it feels a touch more worthy of its flagship status. In fact, it feels like it could be a proper rival to some of the top picks from our list of the best gaming phones, including the REDMAGIC 11 Pro. Still, that's just the short version. Let's dive into the details, shall we?

I've been intrigued by Stellar Blade since it was first revealed during a PlayStation State of Play way back in 2022. My interest ebbed and flowed over the years, and I slowly began dedicating a lot more time to the Switch 2 rather than my PlayStation, so sadly, Stellar Blade slipped to the wayside; however, all of that is about to change, as the game is due to arrive on the portable console this year. During Gamescom, I had the opportunity to play the game's intro, which is absolutely gorgeous and runs as smoothly as butter on the Nintendo Switch 2. I also spoke with DongKi Lee, CTO and Stellar Blade Technical Director at SHIFT UP, to learn more about the development of this port.

Anyone who has Pikmin 3 Deluxe, this one's for you - it's now shiny and refreshed for the Nintendo Switch 2. Hey, that rhymed! Anyway, Nintendo has sent out an update to improve the performance to match 2026 standards. First released in 2013 on the Wii U, Pikmin 3 then got a facelift in 2020 with the Deluxe version releasing on Switch. Now, a handful of years later, it's got a bit more attention to bring it up to speed for the second Switch console. The update officially improves visuals for the Switch 2 display and for high-resolution TV sets. This means it'll look a lot sharper on today's tech, compared to that of the 2017 hardware.

In Moonlight Peaks, Dragan is tall, dark, and handsome. He's good at sensing auras and finds you intriguing. This is excellent news as he's a candidate you can choose to pursue. He does spend a lot of time playing cards, though, so keep that in mind. Make sure to pore over our Moonlight Peaks review to see if it's going to be your new favorite farm game. It should be, as it's got a lot to offer - including the handsome Dragan.

The Turok series is fascinating; much like its reptilian subject matter, it isn't shy of evolution. Between my nostalgia for Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and fondness for the 2008 reboot, there's an entry tailored for anyone's tastes. Turok: Origins takes things back to the original canon, years before the events of Dinosaur Hunter unfold. It's a bold move to dig up a continuity that a generation of players haven't encountered before. For me, though, the real juice is in how Saber Interactive is molding its action into more than just FPS skirmishes.

In my Orbitals review, I dive into the latest couch co-op game and see what sets it apart from the rest.

Whether people like it or not, couch co-op is making a comeback, and I'm so here for it. In this Orbitals review, I got the chance to experience Nintendo's latest offering in the genre - an intergalactic adventure coated in 90s nostalgia, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. In case you've somehow missed the hype around Orbitals, it's an atmospheric co-op adventure from Tokyo-based Shapefarm and Kepler Interactive that focuses on split-screen gameplay. It follows in the footsteps of recent hits in the genre like It Takes Two and Split Fiction, but with a distinct visual style that harkens back to 80s and 90s anime. In Orbitals, you play as Maki and Omura, two inseparable space explorers on a mission to save their colony. We don't know their relationship, but they grew up together, and both experienced a disaster in their early life that led to them entering a machine that can reprint their bodies. While this reprinting explanation is a key part of the gameplay as it explains how the pair can respawn, I think it got in the way of the main story for me at times.

Saber Interactive honors Clive Barker's world with an unrelenting, surprisingly philosophical vision in Hellraiser: Revival.

As I pick up the controller at my Hellraiser: Revival appointment, a few things begin to cut through the noise of Gamescom. I'm looking down the hallway of a stylish nightclub, albeit one that's seen better days. The floors are strewn with condoms and a litany of sexual paraphernalia, while trails of blood paint a darker picture. It's a brief respite from the Labyrinth, where Pinhead and the Cenobites wait to peel my flesh with a smile. I can practically smell the filth and despair that wait ahead. As a developer duo with Clive Barker's blessing, I can tell you that Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games aren't holding back. This isn't Hellraiser-lite. Out of all the new Switch games I tried at Gamescom this year, it's safe to say that Hellraiser: Revival is undeniably the most twisted and outright chilling. But it isn't just for shock tactics, and that's where the game's strengths really shine.

20 years after the last Onimusha game, Way of the Sword is the comeback both the series and fans deserve.

Ever since its initial announcement, I have been keen to get my hands on Onimusha: Way of the Sword - without question, it's been one of my most highly anticipated games for months now. I love combat, enjoy a challenge, like an engaging story, and get a huge kick out of a charismatic protagonist - all of which Capcom excels at. As such, it's deeply unsurprising that I absolutely adore Way of the Sword. While it's easy for me to say that the first new Onimusha adventure in 20 years is one of the best Switch games to release this year, I know you all need some receipts, and I'm more than happy to give you the complete rundown in my review. Out of the gate, I need to say that while I've heard of the Onimusha series, I never played any of the older games, despite a keen interest, so Way of the Sword is my first foray into the franchise. I absolutely love games that take place in Japan, particularly those that occur during a historical period and put you in the shoes of a samurai. Naturally, Way of the Sword more than ticks that box, with the game taking place in a dark fantasy version of Kyoto, which is an absolute joy to explore. Each area you find yourself in begs for a bit of exploration off the beaten path, rewarding you with items that might give you an advantage as you fight off a demon invasion.

Borderlands items have been a regular fixture of the Fortnite item shop since Psycho Bandit's first appearance in 2019, and now you can add Lilith to your collection thanks to a limited-time bundle. You'll have to act fast, though, as she's only staying in the shop for one week. Lilith the Siren is core to the Borderlands series, appearing in every game since the very beginning. While the Fortnite skin doesn't necessarily reference her most recognizable design, it's pretty close to her appearance in Borderlands 4. Alongside the skin, Lilith's Fortnite bundle comes with the Siren Wings back bling, blatantly referencing her Siren powers. The bundle is pretty reasonably priced, setting you back 1.5k V-Bucks. Alongside Lilith's debut, you can get your hands on the original Psycho Bandit and Mad Moxxi bundles, as well as a few weapon wraps and an emote. Mad Moxxi's bundle is currently on sale for 2k V-Bucks, meaning you get the Underdome Megaphone pickaxe and Moxxi's Tip Jar back bling for just 500 V-Bucks when you get them in the bundle with her skin. At the time of writing, despite the fact that the Psycho Bandit bundle has appeared in the item shop multiple times since 2019, it's currently outselling Lilith.

Ever since Guitar Hero Live put the series to bed in 2015, there's been a huge void in my life. It's a void that can only be filled by plastic guitars, charming digital avatars, and a selection of the finest rock bangers from the last three decades. I thought Fortnite Festival might plug the hole, but Harmonix's rhythm-game offshoot isn't quite it. Enter Stage Tour, a spiritual successor from Red Octane Games - a rejuvenated iteration of the original Guitar Hero developers. Not only is it fantastic from the outset, but it's easily one of the best games I've checked out at Gamescom 2026. By now you may have seen a few trailers and perhaps a glimpse of the new Switch game's setlist. On the surface, it has all those familiar Guitar Hero quirks: cartoonish characters, bombastic arenas, and hits destined to reawaken your inner emo or grunge days. Red Octane Games knows exactly what people want, and it isn't shying away from it.

Pokémon TCG Pocket revives a fan-favorite feature from the physical card game in its PokémonXP panel showcase.

As part of the inaugural PokémonXP convention, the Pokémon TCG Pocket panel gave us a sneak peek at the game's next era of cards, and it brings in two features that are sure to get collectors back on the hook. As well as printing powerful ex versions of the First Partner Pokémon from across the series, TCG Pocket is introducing dual-type cards. If you're at all familiar with the trading card game outside of Pokémon TCG Pocket, then you'll have likely seen dual-type cards crop up in the past. As we're still in the throes of the Pokémon 30th anniversary celebration, this homage to the game's history, as well as the new starter Pokémon ex cards, feels like a fitting next step for the free mobile game. Probably the most recognizable form of dual-type cards in the Pokémon TCG was the Delta Species mechanic, which appeared during the ex era. This mechanic gave tons of your favorite gen 3 Pokémon additional types, letting them slot into new deck archetypes and shaking up the meta dramatically. My personal favorite was the Delta Species Fire-type Gardevoir ex, which got reprinted for the 25th anniversary of the TCG. As well as the Delta Species mechanic, dual-types also existed in the TCG in the form of Dark Pokémon before the type's official introduction, and XY Steam Siege's dual-type cards, which most closely resemble TCG Pocket's new additions.

We recommend you make friends (or maybe more) with Moonlight Peaks' Luna as quickly as you can. She sells all of the seeds and spores in town and shows you the ropes of farming to get you started. She's also just really nice. We love her rustic style of a floppy, witchy hat and overalls. Below, we've listed gifts she likes to receive, as well as where you can find Luna and everything she sells at her stall.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's latest gameplay reward, some socks, seems cool in theory, but might be smoke and mirrors.

Anyone who's played Pokémon TCG Pocket for any length of time knows how difficult it is to get your hands on the limited-time event tickets - how long I've spent trying to farm them is frankly between me and my iPhone at this point. And sure, most of the rewards are just a couple of tickets, maybe four for a playmat at most - but with the latest event, the game has outdone itself. The Team Rocket-themed event offers a pair of socks for 9,999 credits. If you're wondering if it's even possible to collect that many: it's not. You gain tickets upon completion of Team Rocket event assignments, and there aren't that many to do, sadly. Besides, the socks would be completely useless in this free Pokémon game, as unlike Pokémon Go, this one has no cosmetics or character models - only Pokémon TCG Pocket decks. Unless Pokémon are personally going to send me a pair of Grunt socks in the post, this reward is a gag. This suspicion is further confirmed when you consider that Team Rocket Grunts don't visibly wear socks in their uniform (though we're sure they're wearing some under those big boots).

Right now, Reverse: 1999 is celebrating its third anniversary, which is a pretty big deal, as that's a milestone we've seen plenty of mobile games fall short of over the years. That's three years of regular content updates, plenty of new characters, and the development of a narrative that stretches across time and space. So yeah, as we said, it's a pretty big deal. To celebrate the achievement, we asked Bluepoch, the team behind Reverse: 1999, a few questions about the anniversary content, the developer's approach to in-game freebies, and the recent Atomic Heart collaboration. Without any further ado, let's get into it.

We're still reeling from the announcement of a huge new, and free, update for The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch 2 - but today, we've got even more good news: we're officially getting mods. On the Switch. Madness. In an official REDStream during Gamescom 2026, the CD Projekt Red team talks about additions coming to the console when the next-gen update goes live at the end of September. You can watch the full stream here, which goes into plenty of detail about Geralt's souped-up adventures. The game is getting a lot of tweaks to make it fit better on the Switch 2. Mouse and gyro controls are coming to improve aiming - especially with weapons- in both handheld and docked (with a Pro Controller) modes, along with motion controls that allow you to immersively look around your surroundings as Geralt.

The Anbernic RG55G1 looks just like Nintendo’s affordable handheld, except for the thumbsticks.

In just the last year, we've seen Chinese gaming brand Anbernic take inspiration from some iconic devices, ranging from the PS Vita to the Nintendo DS. Now, though, it looks like it's going for something a bit more modern, with the Anbernic RG55G1 looking a lot like the Nintendo Switch Lite, from its form factor down to some of the colorways we've seen so far. Under the hood, the Anbernic RG55G1 is similar to many of the top picks from our guide to the best retro handhelds. It has a Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 chip, the same as the Retroid Pocket Classic, 4 or 8GB of RAM, and 64 or 128GB of storage. It's by no means a powerhouse, but it should be powerful enough to run a lot of the best mobile games, including indies such as Balatro and Stardew Valley. In the last couple of days, Anbernic posted an RG55G1 unboxing video. The clip shows the handheld in three different colors, with the Indigo option pretty close in hue to the blue Switch Lite. The console also has a similar layout to the affordable Nintendo console, except for the stick placement: the RG55G1's left-side thumbstick is below the d-pad, rather than above it. It also shares a lot of similarities with the Retroid Pocket 5, my personal Android handheld of choice.

As far as mid-range brands go, Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is one of the best, and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max serves as a great reminder of why. Anytime I have the chance to test out Redmi, I'm up for it, and this is my first time trying the Note series. In the past, I've been a fan of Samsung's larger phones, though in recent years I've been back on the Apple bandwagon with the iPhone 13, then the iPhone 17 Pro, so it's fair to say I've enjoyed having a larger screen again. Beyond a lovely display, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a couple of strong selling points, particularly its large battery with fast charging, along with a solid suite of AI tools for those who use artificial intelligence. For obvious reasons (i.e., being a journalist), I tend to avoid AI whenever I can. Still, I'll always give credit where credit's due. Still, how does it fare lined up against the rest of the best Xiaomi phones? Well, let's get into it.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold could be the world’s most powerful phone when it launches.

It's looking like 2026 could be the year foldable phones finally hit the mainstream. With Samsung's wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold8 picking up stellar reviews and multiple rumors that Apple is launching its first foldable, the iPhone Ultra, next month, the book-style form factor is becoming more popular than ever. Apple and Samsung could have some major competition before long, though, with spec leaks suggesting the Xiaomi 18 Fold could be a performance beast. While we still don't have a full spec sheet for the Xiaomi 18 Fold, Xiaomi has confirmed that it packs the brand's new Xring O3 chip. You might not have heard of that processor, but according to new details from Xiaobai's Tech Reviews, via Notebookcheck, it could be one of the most powerful mobile chips on the planet. In testing, the Xring O3 goes toe-to-toe with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Apple's A19 Pro processors in terms of single-core benchmark scores, while comfortably beating both in multi-core tests. That sort of performance potential, combined with the suggestion that the 18 Fold will have a similarly wide form factor to the new Z Fold8, could make the Xiaomi foldable a future top pick for our guide to the best gaming phones. Until now, gaming on a foldable has meant dealing with letterboxing at the top and bottom of the screen, which detracts from immersion, but it's less noticeable on wider, book-style devices. In leaked images from prominent tipster Digital Chat Station, it certainly looks the part.

Thirty-four years ago today, Mario got his driver's license. That's right, Super Mario Kart was released in Japan on August 27, 1992. Some of us weren't even born then - Mario's racecar driver career is officially longer than my own lifespan. Appearing on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), this new driving game kicked off one of the biggest franchises in gaming. With 20 courses - including Rainbow Road (yes, the villainous course came into it that early) - and only eight racers, there wasn't as much maneuvering to master. It was a simpler time. But that doesn't mean it was easy. The series has come a long way since then. The old four-button setup and D-pad didn't allow for intuitive movement, much drifting, or turning corners well... compared to when joysticks were brought in, this entry is hard to use. For those of us who aren't good at driving anyway, this offers a real challenge.

He can help you safely sail the seas and take down any enemy in your path. We recommend you pull for Brant, so here are the new Wuthering Waves codes for some free astrite. You can check who else is on the Wuthering Waves banner and see where everyone ranks in our Wuthering Waves tier list.

One member, ZZZ Ukinami Yuzuha, looks the part with her red hair, black boots, striped tights... and a tanuki on her back. Yuzuha arrived in a 2.x Zenless Zone Zero update, with her own appearance on the Zenless Zone Zero banner. We recommend grabbing the new Zenless Zone Zero codes to start saving up those polychromes for her next rerun.

We finally have a The Wolf Among Us Remastered release date, and we don't have long to wait at all to dive back into Telltale Games' masterpiece. Honestly, this might be among the most exciting news to pop up so far in Gamescom season, and that's including all of the announcements we saw during Opening Night Live last night. The episodic game initially released across five installments from 2013 to 2014, garnering a loyal fan base that longed to see a sequel, with those hopes being dashed for a long time after Telltale's closure. Of course, the studio made a comeback, announcing a sequel and a remaster earlier this year. Telltale promises enhanced visuals, making Fabletown even more stunning for both new and returning players. Along with improved frame rates and other features, the remaster includes over an hour of bonus content, including interviews with the cast and a behind-the-scenes look at the game.

Welcome to the show: it's time to meet Genshin Impact's Vodyanitsa, a hydro opera singer from Scheznaya. Hoping to "transcend the rules", this water imp might have a trick or two up her sleeve. In the 7.1 trailer, she's holding a dagger, alluding to a secretive nature, but I would be surprised if she wasn't a catalyst user. The next Genshin Impact update is just around the corner, and in order to pull Vodyanitsa on the new Genshin Impact banner, you're going to need both luck and primogems.

If you're in the market for a handheld gaming PC, there's a brand new option to check out: the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20. After months of anticipation, Asus finally launched the handheld on the opening day of Gamescom 2026. There is a bit of a catch, though, in that it's pretty expensive, coming in at $1,299. To see whether the upgrade to OLED is worth it, we sent our very own Sam Comrie along to the Asus booth to check out the X20, and honestly, we're still not sure. That said, here's what Sam had to say. "The ROG Xbox Ally X20 sports all of the usual hallmarks from the previous Xbox models, but the new level of panache comes through its stylish transparent aesthetic. It's far sleeker than the other models, leaning more into its gaming nature, without overdoing it. It's a real touch of class. Performance-wise, the brief demo available on the Gamescom floor doesn't really show off its capabilities fully. I would have liked to see a triple-A getting put through its paces. That being said, performance is as consistent as it is on the Xbox Ally versions, at least with less demanding titles. Of course, the real highlight is the new OLED screen, a first for the ROG Ally series. Despite previously saying it wouldn't opt for an OLED panel to preserve VRR, the future of ROG Ally is here, and it's looking brighter than ever. I only wish this was included on the previous Xbox models, as it would justify the move away from the already excellent and reliable ROG Ally Z1E. However, at $1,299, it's hardly the most accessible OLED handheld on the market right now."

The Lenovo Legion C700 offers cloud gaming without a Wi-Fi connection, but we can’t tell if it's launching outside of China.

When it comes to handheld gaming, Lenovo is one of the biggest names in town. Over the last few years, we've seen the brand take on Valve with a swathe of Steam Deck alternatives, including the Legion Go S and Legion Go 2. Now, it's launching its first cloud-based Android handheld, the Lenovo Legion C700, and it looks like an impressive bit of kit. The only problem is getting your hands on one. While we've known about the Legion C700 for a couple of months, Lenovo has just officially launched the handheld in China ahead of its September 8 release date. Unfortunately, the brand still hasn't confirmed whether we can expect a global release of the C700. That means getting your hands on one yourself could prove tricky, which is annoying, as it actually looks pretty good. The C700's big selling point is that it's a cloud-based handheld that doesn't depend on an internet connection. Instead, it uses Legion Stream technology and a dedicated dongle to connect to the PC you're streaming games from. That makes it a great solution for any gamer who spends a lot of time traveling or has a poor home Wi-Fi connection.

It's interesting when trends happen in the gaming industry, and the most recent one is tidy-up games. Sortslop, if you will. It started with Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library, and now there are similar games across mobile, Roblox, and PC with any and every type of item available for you to sort through and put on the right shelves. I like keeping a clean house, but I wouldn't want to sort all my groceries and food items if they fell onto the kitchen floor. But put that in a game, and I'll apparently spend ten hours doing exactly that. At least ten, in fact. I've logged 45 hours in Librarian, 55 hours in Supermarket Chaos, somehow, and about ten hours in three other games. I can't stop.

With summer drawing to a close, it’s time to start getting ready for fall, and we all know that means the season of cozy games is nearly upon us.

Summer has sure been a scorcher this year. I don't know about you, but while blue skies, beach trips, and bikinis are great, I personally can't wait for the sweet embrace of fall. Not only does it mark the transition to cooler weather, baggy sweaters, and pumpkin spice everything, it also ushers in what's arguably the best time of year - cozy games season. While cozy games are great all year round, there's no doubt that they're most at home in the autumnal months. As the days grow shorter, nights grow longer, and temperatures start to drop, there's nothing better than coming home from work or school and curling up with an adorable adventure or serene social sim that helps you forget your troubles for a couple of hours. We've already seen plenty of fantastic cozy games arrive this year, from indies to triple-A masterpieces that offer low-stress gameplay, relaxing vibes, and plenty of opportunities to express your creativity in unique and inventive ways. And, of course, with cozy games generally boasting a high level of playability, there are also heaps of classics and hidden gems from years gone by to explore. As such, there's plenty of fuel for the metaphorical cobblestone fireplace this year.

Pawprint Interactive Entertainment's Aniimo is jam-packed with everything you might want from a new free-to-play RPG: cute critters, in-depth customization, and an immersive world filled with interesting people. Even better yet, it's nearly here. Aniimo takes inspiration from games like Pokémon with its type charts and capture methods, but what makes this free mobile game unique is its twining feature that lets you experience life as your cute companion sees it. You can even battle bosses this way, too!

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is shaping up to be one of 2026’s top games, and I can’t wait to play more.

I love Dragon's Dogma 2. Without question, it's one of the best RPGs of this generation, if not of all time, so you can imagine my excitement at the impending release of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Luckily for me, I had the chance to go hands-on with it, thanks to Capcom. During my time with the game, I got to play a main demo on the PlayStation 5 Pro as well as a single quest on the Nintendo Switch 2, the latter of which is going to be available to the public at Gamescom. I was able to choose between three quests - being a Dragon's Dogma 2 veteran, I opted for the biggest challenge, which was to fight a big frosty giant, taking the beast down in just over five minutes. However, you can fight a griffon if you prefer an easier opponent. Naturally, I got to see considerably more of the new location, Norgan, when playing the main demo, which took me roughly one hour, culminating in a boss fight that epitomizes the Dragon's Dogma 2 experience really well, but I'm getting ahead of myself. I started the demo in a village, being able to select which vocation to use - being a strike-first and don't-bother-asking-questions-later kind of girl, I chose the Mystic Spearhand vocation, allowing me to take a highly aggressive approach. Combat is one of my favorite things about the original DD2, as it truly allows you to play your way, thanks to the different vocations and all the weapons available to you.

Worth the eight-year wait.

Eight years. That's how long it's been since the last Mega Man game, not counting the various collections of existing entries in the franchise. That changes in 2027, as Capcom is poised to release Mega Man: Dual Override, and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the famed developer and publisher to try the game. I'm not new to Mega Man games, with Mega Man II standing tall as one of the most prized possessions in my NES collection. As such, you'd best believe that my face broke into a massive grin the second I loaded into the first level. The game looking great is one thing, but we all know it's the intense platforming action that draws you to Mega Man, and, luckily, that's exactly what you get - a game that begs for a bit of patience, lest you launch your controller at the wall. Of course, I did try to rush through, and I'm pleased to say it wasn't a complete disaster, but learning the level and your enemies' movements is a must if you want to speedrun successfully.

The trailers so far give us a glimpse of what to expect from Petit Planet. Fruit-laden trees, a grassy world with mushrooms and flowers, and plenty of cute creatures to greet us. The setting seems to be a game like Animal Crossing, with a tiered landscape featuring waterfalls and rivers, along with space for decoration.

Finally, I knew this was coming, and at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, CD Projekt Red finally confirmed it: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in the form of a remaster, which is also free to existing owners on other platforms, and while that alone is exciting, the brand-new DLC, Songs of the Past, will also be making its way onto the hybrid console when it launches next year. Wild Hunt is the best The Witcher game out there, and it's honestly one of my favorite games of all time, so knowing that I get to join Geralt once more brings me nothing short of pure joy. Being able to see Yennefer, Triss, and Ciri again is a treat, too. The Witcher 3 is already available on Nintendo Switch, with the Complete Edition featuring Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine - though it's not exactly complete anymore. Following the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2, The Witcher 3 was an obvious choice to bring to the console, especially with The Witcher 4 on the way. It gives me hope that the next main installment will be on NS2 at launch.

Good news, fellow treasure hunters - Sea of Remnants docks on mobile soon, letting us start our seafaring journey.

Well, Sea of Remnants sure looks stylish, and it catches my eye as a long-time fan of Sea of Thieves. The difference is, NetEase's free-to-play game is coming to mobile, so more of you can access it. During Gamescom's Opening Night Live, Sea of Remnants confirmed a mobile release in 2027 alongside PC and consoles. This is a little later than the previously suggested 2026, but now it's officially on the horizon for eager treasure-hunters. Take yourself on a journey across the waves and plunder the seven seas as part of a pirate posse. You can recruit new characters as you play through the game and make the best crew possible. There are some fearsome enemies to avoid, too, like the kraken and some rather large crabs. But remember, defeating them means more treasure, which is your main goal, after all.

One of our favorite moments from Gamescom's Opening Night Live: a fresh look at Ananta, a long-awaited gacha coming out soon. There are tons of new additions since the last trailer we saw, but we're more excited about something else... Finally, we have an Ananta release date! It releases on January 15, 2027, and comes to iOS, Android, PC, and PlayStation 5. Funnily enough, Ananta's first big reveal was at Gamescom in 2023, though it was under the name Project Mugen then. Despite the name change, Ananta has held on to its Cyberpunk-y, GTA-like, futuristic style. It's even added to it in recent updates, as there are now flying cars on top of the regular type, with scooters, bikes, and hang gliders available for you to zip around the city setting.
