It's official: Lana Del Rey is behind the new 007 First Light theme song. While we already had a pretty good idea that the singer-songwriter behind Summertime Sadness and Say Yes to Heaven would be lending her voice to this upcoming James Bond game, it's no longer just speculation. Better yet, you can listen to it right now.

Who's that Poké- no, sorry, who's that Disney Channel star? A familiar face is modeling the Target x Pokémon 30th anniversary collection, and he's one of the last people we'd expect to see. Joe Jonas, some people's favorite Jonas Brother, can be seen on the Target website and Rolling Stone showing off a hoodie, cross-body bag, and retro jacket. Apparently, his favorite Pokémon are Mew and Mewtwo. Other famous faces and influencers also make an appearance, like Sydeon and SuperDuperDani. The full collection of clothing hits Target stores on Saturday, May 2, and debuts online on the following day. There's a second drop coming in early June, too. If you want to see what the collection has to offer in full, you can check it out here.

Asus has teamed up with Mongil: Star Dive to celebrate the release of the new gacha game by giving away one of its latest handhelds, the ROG Xbox Ally.

With ongoing issues surrounding RAM pricing and availability, handheld gaming PCs are becoming harder to get your hands on. Whether it's the Steam Deck OLED's stock problems or the massively inflated price of the Lenovo Legion Go 2, 2026 is shaping up to be a tricky year for the handheld market. However, you could be in with a chance of picking one up for free, with Asus teaming up with Mongil: Star Dive, the new gacha game from Netmarble, to give away one ROG Xbox Ally. For those who don't know, the ROG Xbox Ally is one of the best handheld consoles around, competing with the likes of the Lenovo Legion Go and Steam Deck OLED. It's currently priced at around $599.99, which, while not as expensive as some of the other Steam Deck alternatives on the market, isn't exactly cheap. That's why this chance to pick one up for free is not an opportunity to pass up. At the time of writing, the ROG Xbox Ally is less than a year old, and while it's not quite as powerful as its more expensive sibling, the ROG Xbox Ally X, it's still an impressive device. Its AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor keeps up with Valve's market-leading handheld when it comes to running the best Steam Deck games, and its 60Wh battery beats out a lot of the competition when it comes to battery life.

While Sony still hasn’t confirmed that a new PlayStation handheld is in the works, a reliable tipster has suggested it’s coming and it’s packing impressive performance power.

For the last year or so, we've reported on multiple rumors and leaks surrounding the potential launch of a new PlayStation handheld, but the latest might be the most exciting so far. According to a reliable source, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and ROG Xbox Ally X rival, referred to by some outlets as the PlayStation 6 Portable or Project Canis internally, will arrive alongside Sony's next-generation home console and will be capable of running PS6, PS5, and PS4 games. These new details are courtesy of Moore's Law is Dead, a reliable YouTube source for leaks, which reports seeing an internal Sony document referencing the PlayStation handheld's backwards compatibility credentials. There is a caveat in there in that the device likely doesn't have a disk drive, so you probably won't be able to use it to play physical copies of your PS4 and PS5 games, but it's great news if you've already got a sizable digital collection. The latest report also suggests that the PS6 Portable could be a lot more powerful than the current top picks from our guide to the best handheld consoles, packing an RDNA 5 GPU and AMD Zen 6 CPU. That CPU is still unreleased, so we don't know exactly what it's capable of just yet. However, given that the Steam Deck's CPU is already showing signs of aging when running some triple-A games and the Nintendo Switch 2's hardware isn't exactly capable of keeping up with the PS5, let alone the PS6, elite performance could make Sony's next handheld a tempting proposition.

Horse girls, this one's for you. We recommend you use the Pokémon Rapidash in all horse-based or fire-type teams - either in its fiery original form, or pastelized Galarian version that debuted in Pokémon Sword and Shield on the Nintendo Switch. Either way, Rapidash is pretty cool. This horse and its equally cool pre-evolution Ponyta are some of my favorite fire Pokémon, due to it being a horse with a mane made of flames. What's cooler than that? Ice types, I guess.

With the game now in early access, we've got the only Slay the Spire 2 tier list you need to do Neow's bidding all over again. In this guide, we've ranked each of the five characters available in the game from best to worst, detailing the reasoning behind each placement. While there aren't any stinkers, not all of these slayers are made equal, and you'll want to use the most powerful options if you hope to clear challenging Ascension attempts while unlocking all the available cards, relics, and events. Of course, Slay the Spire 2 is still a ways away from launching, so there's always a chance our rankings could change with future updates and balance patches, plus the eventual full release. Once you've decided which character you're going to use, we've also got a guide to the best Slay the Spire 2 cards you can use to finesse your build as you power through each act on your way to face a new nemesis.

Seeing people get excited for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream hits different when you already know how good it is. The long-awaited sequel of Nintendo's life simulator games is about to be here, and I think it's going to be one of, if not the biggest, game of the year. It's certainly one of the best. Even though it isn't a Switch 2 exclusive, I have a feeling that Nintendo has landed on, not just a money-maker, but another console-seller, too, right in the wake of Pokopia. There isn't a single thing I dislike about this game. Sure, do I wish that my Miis could have customizable accents instead of dooming them all to be posh with my Received Pronunciation English accent? Yes, yes, I do. And do I kind of wish the Miis hadn't started off in houses with near-identical designs? Maybe. But any minor complaint I have has been made up for with endless fun, with near-infinite customization, cut scenes I'm still seeing for the first time ten hours after rolling the credits, and a healthy dose of quirky charm.

I have an odd relationship with Skate. As someone with a deep love for the original Black Box trilogy, it's nice to have a new entry on my dashboard. We'll get to that, but there's one key thing EA isn't addressing: what is happening with Skate Mobile?

When Ubisoft first revealed The Division Resurgence in 2022, like many, I became skeptical. Could the developers really fit a sprawling cityscape and the series' dense action on mobile? We all know the answer is yes, as The Division players dive in on their iPhones and Android devices. There's clearly a bit of technical wizardry at work to make it happen. So, I ask the game's executive producer, Fabrice Navrez, about achieving the best possible performance.

A new Lenovo Legion phone and the Redmi K90 Max could be about to shake up the gaming phone market, but there is a potential caveat for those reading in the US.

When I heard that Asus was dropping out of the Android gaming phone market, I felt like it could be the beginning of the end for the hardware niche, but it looks like I was wrong. In the last couple of days, both Lenovo and Xiaomi have confirmed upcoming launches for gaming-oriented phones, meaning that the most notable gaming flagship of the last few months, the REDMAGIC 11 Pro, might have some real competition on the way. The new Lenovo Legion phone is the most surprising reveal, given that the brand has spent the last few years concentrating on gaming tablets and PC handhelds. According to a Weibo post, the Legion Y70 Series is returning in May. That's all we've really got, in the way of confirmed details. There's currently no confirmed information surrounding specs, but if it wants to compete with the rest of the best gaming phones, we'd expect it to launch with a top-end chipset, potentially the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and at least a 120Hz refresh rate display. As for Xiaomi, the brand has shared new details on the Redmi K90 Max. It packs a Dimensity 9500 chipset, MediaTek's answer to the Snapdragon's flagship chip. According to Xiaomi's own information, the phone is capable of running Honor of Kings at 144fps, so it should take other demanding titles from our guide to the best mobile games, such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, in its stride. It also packs a 6.83-inch display, which is what you expect from a gaming phone, giving you plenty of screen real estate.

So, the Animal Crossing 25th anniversary is here, and what did we get to celebrate the big 2-5? Barely anything. Fans (it's me, I'm fans) are disappointed with the singular little gift awaiting us in our mailbox. I didn't expect a shadow drop of Dobutsu No Mori on Nintendo Switch Online, or a reboot of any old games, but what we got is a 'leaf statue' item. It's a green, glowing leaf that - sadly - doesn't match with my autumnal, cottagecore island, so it'll be going right into storage. Along with the commemorative item, you can listen to 158 tracks from the original GameCube game via Nintendo Music. To match this, an official custom design based on the Dobutsu No Mori packaging is available through Nintendo's own account.

Many sci-fi games have tried and failed to set themselves apart from each other, but Pragmata actually pulls it off with its engaging gameplay.

Alright, alright - I'll admit it. I was torn between excitement and skepticism when I first laid eyes on Pragmata's Nintendo Switch 2 trailer. On one hand, this looks like something I hadn't seen before in the space genre - the concept of live hacking while you're also trying to fight enemies. On the other hand, I worried about the cliche of another game set in space, and the involvement of the little kid who follows you around. What is the purpose of the quasi-parent/child dynamic? Would it serve the story? And why does Diana look kind of... oddly perfect? I worried that it was aiming to appeal to a certain (disgusting) portion of the Internet. My fears surrounding Diana, the girl who follows you on your adventures, have not dissolved, but I need to take the game at face value for now. This is an excellent experience. Though some highly predictable elements did end up souring my enjoyment of the first hour, with classic space sci-fi tropes akin to "all my friends have died and I'm the last one left, I have to contact Earth", Pragmata finds its feet pretty quickly for one reason: its gameplay is so strong that it almost doesn't matter what the plot is doing or not doing. I'm just having a lot of fun - and it's not just me, according to our Pragmata preview.

Who’s the pretty blue-eyed guy in the latest Honkai Star Rail trailer? Is it the leader of the Stellaron Hunters?

Honkai Star Rail sure knows how to create a cool-looking character and whip up some hype even if we only see a tiny glimpse of them. A recent trailer in collaboration with studio MAPPA shows us the Stellaron Hunters having a whale of a time... and we mean all of them. In the trailer, we see HSR's Mortenax Blade and Silver Wolf Lv. 999 - but there's another potential new character alongside them. As chaos reigns while Blade and co cut down some enemies, we see a backshot of a character wearing a black hooded coat, with neon piping and purple accents on it. The scene then flips to show us the quite frankly gorgeous face and eyes of this mystery man. He has floppy, light-blue hair and eyes that glow. This could either be from some sort of reflection, or he just has super funky irises. Now, who is this? We think it's Elio, the leader of the group. We only have those two shots to go on for now, so I guess we'll wait and see.

While A Storied Life: Tabitha claims there are no wrong answers, an unsatisfying narrative awaits you if you look for clues in too many places at once.

A Storied Life: Tabitha has been one of my most long-awaited cozy games of the year, and when the time came to review it, I jumped headlong into my next point-and-click narrative journey. I was charmed by its art direction, the soundtrack was inspired, and the gameplay felt like a classically satisfying experience, but at the end of the story, I had to confront something I hadn't expected: the story did not land with me. The beginning of the game is promising - as you go in and tidy Tabitha's house in the wake of her death, you keep, recycle, or sell Tabitha's belongings. Each item has its own description, which might help you decide whether it's valuable enough to sell, or whether it simply can't fit in the box to keep. The items vary from witchy cauldrons to family photos, and the concept behind it would allow you to fill up a box based on what you want the narrative surrounding Tabitha to look like based on your attachment to her. Only, I didn't really ever make an emotional attachment to her at all.

While there’s plenty of conflicting reports surrounding the future of OnePlus, the brand’s rumored handheld sounds like a pretty powerful device.

Of all the things I had on my 2026 bingo list, a new OnePlus gaming handheld wasn't one of them. However, it looks like that's exactly what's on the way, and according to the latest leak, the brand's debut handheld could pack some serious performance power, potentially even rivaling some of the Android-based Steam Deck alternatives. The new leak comes courtesy of notorious tipster Digital Chat Station, who quotes a OnePlus source suggesting that the handheld is capable of "console-level performance" thanks to its MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. That CPU's been around for a little while now, but according to DCS, OnePlus has tinkered with the GPU to optimize it for gaming, making it a potentially tempting proposition for anyone looking for a powerhouse handheld to play the best mobile games. These new details come just a week after alleged images of the OnePlus handheld started circulating, so we're expecting the Android giant to announce the device in the near future. There is a caveat, though. We've also seen reports that OnePlus might be folding its business operations outside of China, and while a representative for the brand denied that earlier this year, that representative has since left the business.

Darts has exploded in popularity over the last few years, and I think there are plenty of ways that competitive Pokémon could learn from its renewed success.

Pokémon! Darts! What do they have in common? Well, not much really, but I think that should change. In fact, I feel that so deeply that I've come up with a list of four suggestions that I think competitive Pokémon, be it in the VGC, TCG, or Pokémon Go, can and should learn from the professional darts scene. If you're reading this anywhere outside of the UK, you might be thinking, "Darts, really?" Well, yes, really. In the last five years or so, thanks to talented competitors such as Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen, key events like the World Darts Championship, and plenty of other factors, it's flourished into becoming one of the country's most popular sports. The runaway success of Pokémon games means the competitive format is already pretty popular, but I think the four suggestions below could lift it further still and make it the dominating esport I long for it to be.

While its predecessor, Geodude, is a cute all-bark, no-bite kind of guy, Pokémon's Graveler looks as tough as it is. It's got extra muscles and some scary bulk - but you can handle it if you're well-equipped to do so. All you need is to read this guide and learn about its moveset, strengths and weaknesses, evolutions, and more. Make sure you pick up your Pokémon Go codes and Pokémon TCG Pocket codes, so that you have a complete Pokédex with which you can take down Graveler.

Fortnite’s Coachella collection is back, alongside new emotes and a slightly different look for its shop.

Coachella weekend is here, and Fortnite, as the game with a finger on the pulse of Western culture, is ready to show us its get-up. As anticipated, the Coachella cosmetics have returned, alongside a new emote based on performer Katseye's song Gabriela. On top of that, the shop itself is ready to show us a surprising new look - now, skins and other items will pop out over the boxes they're featured in. If you're not seeing the changes yet, that's because, according to leaker HypeX, they're still being rolled out. Some people should see heads, arms, guns, and other items pop outside the box they're usually contained in, hopefully adding a cool visual effect to the shop. This could be part of a larger effort to make the shop more appealing - and, given Fortnite's struggles with recent layoffs and the unpopular Fortnite brainrot skins, the game probably needs the help. The Fortnite shop also includes a special section highlighting some of the artists who're in attendance at Coachella, including Sabrina Carpenter, whose bundle is currently discounted to 2.8k V-Bucks. Fortnite has also added another Katseye emote, which is based on the choreography of Gabriela, one of their most popular (and catchy) songs. This is in spite of the drama surrounding the group of late, due to the alleged mistreatment of member Manon Bannerman. We'll definitely see some players who choose to boycott the Katseye emote because of this.

Pokémon Champions has had a controversial launch, and while I know it’s not perfect, I’m still enjoying battling in its purest form on my Nintendo Switch.

Competitive Pokémon is a tricky beast. I've spent the last few years dabbling in double battles, but the grind to train a single Pokémon, let alone a whole team, has cut my competitive career short every single time. That's why I was one of the many anticipating the launch of Pokémon Champions, the series' new free-to-play hub for online battling. After spending the last 48 hours or so battling and training and battling some more, I've got some first impressions. Let's start with the positives. I'm one of the many who've complained about the epic tutorial sections in recent Pokémon games, including Legends: Z-A, but the onboarding process in Champions is pretty simple. The game introduces you to a couple of new characters, the fundamental mechanics of single battles, and the basics of recruitment in under fifteen minutes, and then, you're good to go. There are a few more tutorials, relating to Mega Evolution and doubles battles, that are optional, but they're worth checking out for the rewards. Then, once you've also tried out the latest Pokémon Champions mystery gift codes, you can get straight into battling. At the time of writing, the pool of available Pokémon is relatively limited, but I'll be honest, I don't mind that. I can imagine it's frustrating if you already play a lot of competitive Pokémon, with a few big hitters from the most recent Scarlet and Violet meta currently missing in action, but I think that makes the experience more welcoming for those who have previously found competitive formats intimidating. For instance, I never imagined going into this game that I'd be maining Glimmora, the last Pokémon any Charizard user wants to see, but here we are.

The only thing we can't guarantee is that you'll come across the cards you're looking for on your next run, but hey, there's always time after that (and the time after that and the time after that). Before we get into this guide, it's worth noting that Slay the Spire 2 is still in early access, so we expect our picks to change as the game receives balance and patch updates in the future. This list is also based on our own experience, so as we continue to grind through Ascensions and simultaneously develop our Slay the Spire 2 tier list, we'll be back to add any cards that have come in clutch and saved a run.

If you're an iPhone owner with a love for iconic FPS games, we've got great news. Out of nowhere, Borderlands Mobile is now available to download on the App Store, and better still, it's free-to-play. Borderlands Mobile isn't a port of the original game or any of the sequels, but rather a completely new title developed by Take-Two's mobile arm, Zynga. It features the same cell-shaded graphics as the rest of the Borderlands games, complete with a main quest, side missions, and a few recognizable characters - yes, we're talking about Claptrap. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, Borderlands Mobile doesn't seem to be available on the Google Play Store, so if you're using an Android phone, you currently can't join in the shooting-and-looting fun. It also seems like it might be exclusive to the US at the time of writing, but we're expecting a wider rollout in the coming days.

Leaks show that Elden Ring’s Nintendo Switch 2 version, the Tarnished Edition, will cost you 80 bucks, and, maybe predictably, it will only be available on game-key card.

We've been waiting for Elden Ring's Nintendo Switch 2 edition for a long time over here at Pocket Tactics, and while there still isn't yet a release date, more details are emerging now that pre-orders are opening up. The price and format of the game are now clearly available, and unfortunately, it's not good news. Not only will the game cost a whopping $80, but it will also only be available via the controversial game-key card. While many had guessed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition would be available by game-key card only, it's still a blow to those of us who like to possess games fully in their physical formats. We know why this is happening, thanks to the insights of other game developers, like Ubisoft dev Rob Bantin, who, as quoted in our piece on the Nintendo Switch Star Wars: Outlaws version, said that game-key cards allow for higher quality and speeds. What's more, because of the rising costs of hardware, physical gaming feels premium now. For 80 bucks, we'd hope for a premium experience. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition does come with more content than just the base game, including the game's DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, but we're not sure if that really justifies an $80 price tag for a game that's now four years old.

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Z2 Extreme chip is now more expensive than ever, but it might just be the first of the big-name handheld PCs to go up in price this year.

Following its October 2025 release, the Lenovo Legion Go 2's high price point has been a barrier to entry for many potential users, leading some to cross their fingers and wait for a price drop. Well, unfortunately, the exact opposite has happened, with Best Buy hiking the price of the powerful handheld gaming PC to a whopping $1,999.99. Yes, you read that right. For those who don't know, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 is one of the best handheld consoles around, with its Z2 Extreme chip delivering elite performance and its OLED screen offering high-quality gaming visuals. However, it also packs 32GB of RAM, which is likely the cause of the price increase, with the price of memory going through the roof in recent months. It's the same issue that affected the supply of Steam Deck OLED units in the US, but Valve hasn't implemented any price rises just yet. Not only is the premium version of the Legion Go 2 now more expensive, but its more affordable alternative, the Ryzen Z2 version, has also gone up in price. Just a couple of months ago, you could buy the handheld for $1,099.99, but it's now $1,499.99. That's not quite as significant a jump, but it still makes the device more than three times the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 or more expensive than two 1TB Steam Deck OLED units.

Getting the best powers isn't easy, as you likely already know, so any opportunity to get additional items to help you grow stronger is only ever a good thing. The PvP is one of our favorite things about the game, though we all know your chances of winning go hand in hand with the abilities you have. Beyond skills and fighting, we're also fond of exploring Tokyo, battling our way through the different districts, where you can encounter different bosses and enemies.

The feature continues to be prominent, so let's look at how you can equip Pokémon Champions Mega Stones to give yourself an advantage in battle. Thanks to the introduction of new forms in Legends: Z-A, there are plenty of options for Mega Evolution, though it's worth noting that not all of them are in champions. As you can see in our Pokémon Legends: Z-A mystery gift codes guide, sometimes you can get Mega Stones as a freebie, so it's worth keeping an eye on our Pokémon Champions mystery gift codes list just in case they pop up there, too.

Tower defense games are popular on Roblox, with many of them taking inspiration from popular anime, which you probably already know as a Jujutsu Kaisen fan on the hunt for some Cursed Tower Defense codes. As ever, strategy is key if you're going to successfully defend your base, but luckily, your favorite characters are on hand to help you out. Like many anime games on Roblox, you can summon and upgrade various units to increase your defenses. We live for the pressure of beating the odds, though we'd be lying if we said the cash you can get from the codes doesn't come in handy.

When is the 007 First Light release date? That's a question so intriguing, even MI6 needs its best operatives on the case. While Pocket Tactics aren't super spies, we are super fans of James Bond and Hitman developer IO Interactive. There's plenty to be excited about when it comes to 007 First Light, so let's get you field-ready for Bond's next gaming adventure. James Bond's digital return is a huge moment. 007 Legends effectively killed off the spy's popularity in gaming, leaving the character's future on consoles uncertain. Now, IO Interactive is lending its stealth and action game expertise from the Hitman games for a fresh era of missions.

The Android 17 Beta just got a new native button remapping feature for mobile controllers, and you can check it out in just a few simple steps.

If you're an Android gamer who prefers using a mobile controller to fiddly touchscreen controls, we've got good news. If you install the Android 17 Beta, you can now remap your control scheme to your liking and apply it across the whole system. That means no more setting up control schemes for individual games or controller companion apps, giving you more time to play the mobile games you love. Given how many of the top picks from our guide to the best gaming phones are Android devices, this is a pretty significant development. At the time of writing, Apple doesn't offer equivalent functionality for the iPhone's iOS software, giving Androids such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and REDMAGIC 11 Pro a leg up on the iPhone 17 Pro when it comes to gaming features. The new controller remapping function is also a win for accessibility, as, according to Android community engagement employee Mishaal Rahman, it allows users to "remap buttons to suit their specific physical needs." It's also great for those who struggle with muscle memory when jumping from home or handheld consoles to playing on mobile, as you can match the configuration of your Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch.

There are so many brainrot games that they seem to blend together, so it's refreshing when one offers something a bit different, and we're sure you agree. With our Open Sea For Brainrots codes, you can give yourself a head start, helping you run further from your base to get the rarer characters. Open Sea For Brainrots' gimmick is our favorite thing about the game, as instead of running around on land, you need to run through a parting in the sea, going as far as you can and making it back to your base before the waves come crashing in.

Silver Wolf isn't the only Stellaron Hunter getting an SP transformation on Planarcadia, as Honkai Star Rail's Mortenax Blade steps onto the scene. We've known for a while that Blade would make an appearance during the Phantasmoon Games with a new look, but none of that prepared me for how good he looks. Sorry, Ashveil, you're no match for my immortal emo husband. While his Mortenax form isn't a huge visual upgrade from the standard Honkai Star Rail Blade we've come to know, his design - as well has his new alignment as a Fire Nihility character - features some interesting details. Firstly, his drip marking shows a red spider lily flower bursting from his chest, a plant that represents death in Chinese and Japanese culture. We also finally see the bandages that cover his entire torso, and some flashy new robes. Plus, he's got an even edgier name than usual, as Mortenax literally translates to King of Death from Latin. During the story on the Xianzhou Luofu, Honkai Star Rail didn't stray away from Blade and Dan Heng/Dan Feng's complicated relationship, and it seems that the pair are set to hash things out again on Planarcadia. Mortenax Blade's full splash art shows the silhouette of (we assume) Dan Feng, looming over and cradling his friend. The entire image also forms the shape of a human heart. The fanfiction practically writes itself.

Game of Thrones: Dragonfire looks to expand the franchise as a House of the Dragon free-to-play mobile game.

There are a pretty substantial number of Game of Thrones games out on the App Store these days, but get ready for a game inspired by the series' spin-off, House of the Dragon. HBO Max and Warner Bros. Games just announced Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, a free-to-play strategy mobile game coming soon to iOS and Android, and you can sign up for it right now to receive exclusive pre-registration rewards. Game of Thrones: Dragonfire will feature a slightly different look at the world of House of the Dragon. You play as a Valyrian descendant and dragon-hatcher, and you'll meet friends old and new as you battle against other players to build and maintain military dominance. The faces and voices of many of your favorite characters will be there to cheer you on as you go toe-to-toe with your neighbors, join alliances with strangers, and forge relationships to battle against environmental challenges. Warner Bros. Games says that the game will blend classic strategy gameplay elements with a more accessible approach, so even if you haven't had much experience with strategy before, you should be able to make your way into the world with few issues. Plus, that's why you have friends to help! Dragons will shape a huge part of how well you do on the battlefield, so there'll be plenty of dragon game action, naturally - it's Game of Thrones: there's gonna be dragons.

A reliable industry leaker has suggested that the Steam Deck 2 could still be years away, but there might be an upside in terms of the handheld’s potential specs.

With the original handheld arriving back in 2022, there's been a lot of speculation surrounding whether or when Valve could tease the Steam Deck 2. Well, the latest update doesn't inspire much confidence, with an industry leaker suggesting that we might not see the follow-up to the Steam Deck until 2028 at the earliest, or later still if the ongoing RAM shortages persist. This new leak is courtesy of KeplerL2, one of the more reliable online tipsters. The leaker posted on the NeoGAF forums that Valve was targeting a 2028 launch for the Steam Deck 2, but "the whole RAM/NAND situation" could push it further back. However, in the same post, KeplerL2 also highlighted that, unlike the original, he isn't expecting the next Valve handheld to pack a semi-custom processor, so if it is delayed, it could benefit from utilizing the latest chip at the time of its release. In fairness, Valve has been keen to set expectations surrounding the possibility of the Steam Deck 2 over the last couple of years. Back in 2023, lead designer Lawrence Yang said in an interview that "a true next-gen Deck with a significant bump in horsepower wouldn't be for a few years." There's a chance Valve will have more competition to deal with when the Steam Deck 2 does arrive, though, given that we've also seen multiple reports pointing to a new PlayStation handheld arriving in either 2027 or 2028, as well as a potential Xbox alternative.

One of the best games for the Nintendo DS, Rhythm Heaven, launched 17 years ago, and left its mark on the genre for years.

As many regular Pocket Tactics readers will know, I love rhythm games, and a lot of that love comes from my experience with a particular DS game back in 2009. Now, it's Rhythm Heaven's 17th anniversary, and I want to celebrate just what makes this series so fantastic, and its lasting impact on the rhythm game landscape. Despite not being the initial game in the series, 2009's Rhythm Heaven was the first title to launch outside of Japan, bringing its unique mash-up of WarioWare-style micro games and rhythm game elements to the West, and into my hands for the first time. It wasn't my introduction to the genre by any means - I'd been playing Dance Dance Revolution practically since I could walk, and Guitar Hero was a staple in my household. It was, however, the first time I'd seen a rhythm game with such a unique visual and gameplay style. Since Rhythm Heaven's US release in 2009, we've had two other games in the series - Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Wii, and Rhythm Heaven Megamix for the 3DS. But now, in 2026, it's been over a decade since we got a new Rhythm Heaven game, and there are plenty of signs on the internet that people want more. Faux rhythm minigames flood my Instagram Reels feed, new songs get custom minigame remixes on YouTube, and even the members of Japanese idol group Phantom Siita parodied the Fan Club minigame on their social media.

There are only a few hours left to grab House Flipper for free and get some steep discounts on its sequel and DLCs.

That's right - one of our favorite oddly satisfying games, House Flipper, is free to keep on Steam. But you have to act fast, as this offer ends today, and it comes with some pretty sweet rewards in the future. Plus, you can grab a pretty decent discount on the sequel, too. As part of Steam's House and Home Fest, House Flipper publisher Frozen District gave the eight-year-old cleaning game a 100% discount, letting you grab it for free for a certain period. This isn't just a free weekend either; once you've claimed the game, you get to keep it forever at no extra cost. Everyone loves a freebie, so make sure you grab it before today, April 6, at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST. It's a great Steam Deck game to take on the go, so we highly recommend it. Since you got the original game for free, you might as well pick up the sequel, which is also on sale for 35% off, and practically every DLC is cheaper than usual, too. All of these deals come as part of the announcement of House Flipper Remastered Collection's pricing reveal. It includes content from the original game and all of its DLC, all with a fresh coat of paint. The game is set to launch at $49.99, but you can get it for as cheap as $16 if you already own the base game and the six "big DLCs".

Five lucky winners will get an all-expenses paid trip to Pokémon Go Fest: Chicago, but to be one, you need to act today.

We know it's not quite the same, but you can basically get the Pokémon Winds and Waves experience if you head to Chicago - 'the Windy City' on the edge of Lake Michigan - and go to Pokémon Go Fest there. No money? No problem, as you can enter to win the trip completely free via Pokémon Go's sweepstakes - but if you want to go, you'll have to enter today. We're serious - the sweepstakes end today, Sunday, April 5, at 11.59 Pacific Time. We'll get right into telling you how to enter. Head to X/Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok to enter the sweepstakes. Make sure your account is public, follow the official Pokémon Go accounts, and tag them in a post with the hashtags #GOMemories and #Sweepstakes (if you're entering in a language that isn't English, click here to find the tags in other languages, as the tag must match the language you're posting in). The content of the post must consist of a memory you have of playing Pokémon Go. Some examples include a person you met or a place you went while playing, your first Pokémon, or a photo of you at an event. We know you've got those crazy stories from 2016 in your back pocket for this moment. Anyway, keep your post up until at least May 15, 2026. On Reddit, you can enter by replying to this official thread. You need to share a memory there, too, but there's no need for the hashtags on Reddit. We promise.

After first appearing on April 1, the Fortnite brainrot skins have received intense backlash - luckily, they’re going as quickly as they arrived.

I'm not going to try to convince you to purchase the Fortnite brainrot skins. In fact, in the wake of Epic Games laying off thousands of employees, I can't recommend avoiding these skins enough: the last thing we want is the gaming giant thinking it can replace its employees with machines that churn out slop. I'm actually here to celebrate with you - because though these cursed skins should never have existed in the first place, they are in fact already on the way out. Yep, that's right - the skins are only around for the weekend, a total of 48 hours, before we can kiss goodbye to them forever. Well, hopefully. Given the extreme (and justified) unpopularity of these skins, we can only hope that Epic Games chooses not to give them a re-run any time soon, but that depends on how well they sell, I guess. How do we know they're unpopular? Well, apart from fans declaring that they'll target anyone they see with the skin, the Fortnite website fortnite.gg rates every cosmetic in the game, and on it, the Brainrot Bundle currently sits at a cool 8% - the lowest rating of any cosmetic on the site. It makes sense. These skins are based on AI-generated creatures known as Italian brainrots. If you've somehow avoided all knowledge of them, Italian brainrots are humanoid figures that are pretty popular on Roblox and get called 'Italian' due to the silly names they're given. Of the two brainrot Fortnite skins, Ballerina Cappucina is more of an obvious example of the faux Italian influence of this slop, while Tung Tung Tung Sahur, another available skin, leans away from that somewhat. Even if you don't have any problems with AI, you have to admit it - these skins are ugly.

The Division Resurgence’s executive producer Fabrice Navrez breaks down how Ubisoft’s mobile shooter brings New York City to iOS and Android devices.

The Division's version of New York City is beloved. Many games have taken us to the Big Apple, but Ubisoft's war-torn, snowy battlefield is never dull to explore. It's a huge place, with near-endless nooks and crannies. Somehow, it's all there to explore in The Division Resurgence. So how is that possible? The game's executive producer, Fabrice Navrez, recently hopped on a call with me to talk about it. Now that the wait is over for The Division Resurgence, the floodgates to New York City are open. Having clocked a decent chunk of time in the game already, I can tell you that this isn't a compromised vision of NYC. It's how you remember it, with a few new tweaks along the way. "New York has always been the first choice for us. First and foremost, I'm also a big Division fan. I really played a lot of The Division 1, especially," Navrez begins. At the start of the game's development, Navrez says that Ubisoft's goals boil down to one key element: "How do we get the best of the essence of The Division?" For me, like many players, New York City just hits differently than The Division 2's Washington, D.C. Navrez tells me that going back to the series' roots "was kind of an obvious choice, and especially with that mobile version." While it appears the same visually, there's something very different about it here. For the first time in the series' history, players can explore a fully shared open world. That means you can see other agents roaming around, form alliances with them, and go on missions together. Agents are no longer tethered purely to Safe Houses or the Dark Zone.

The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller offers an authentic way to play Nintendo 64 games on the Switch, but it’s also a great option for indies.

I'm going to be honest, I don't have much time for the original Nintendo 64 controller. The starship-shaped gamepad might ooze nineties nostalgia, but using one today, even the official Nintendo Switch N64 controller, is an absolute ergonomic nightmare for me. However, I still love so many Nintendo 64 games, so I've been waiting for a proper solution to my playing problem. That's when I first found out about the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller, which I've spent the last week or so testing out. Let's start with the highlights. I love the design of this controller. It essentially looks like the original Nintendo 64 gamepad had a little gray baby with the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, and I mean that in the best way possible. It has the best traits of both, with its lovely multi-color buttons and sturdy build. Simply put, you're getting a more authentic Nintendo 64-style experience without having to battle with the classic controller's form factor. I touched on it in the last paragraph, but it's worth reiterating how high-quality this controller feels in the hands, especially given its $44.99 / £34.99 price point. That's less than half the price of the official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, but it feels just as robust. I've tried a lot of third-party controllers at the same price point, and a lot of them, especially those that are also wireless, don't feel as well put together.
