The Gestuz show was pretty awesome! Designed for a stylish and edgy woman, lots of leathers combined with soft textures. Loved it. A collection to the Pocketpinda heart! Great job.
Another thing I really liked was the cut of the asymmetric dresses (sorry I didn't really get a good shot of it). Take a look at it yourself, pretty sure you will love it aswell!

This year's Sage and Ivy fashion show was held in a mirror studio, which had a parisien feel to it
because of the classic mirrors from the 18th and 19th century.
The new collection named "Pelgrimage", a spiritual quest through dark and mysterious landscapes, had a soft and fierce feel.

Designer Alexia van Engelen made pieces of different materials and textures, from delicate tops to dresses were she used silk or leather.
The color pallete changed from black, blue to nudes and a deep green shade.
Especially loved the brown leather dress and the long silk printed dress!

"Pelgrimage" will also be presented at Gallery 2020 in Antwerp, 5-6 february 2012

Individuals is a changing collective of creative minds, by combining talent in fashion they have the goal to inspire and tell a story. And oh boy, did they tell one hell of story during AFW yesterday!

For the collection "DUALS" there were 23 young creative minds working together to create an outstanding show. Wich wasn't only a fashionshow, it was the story of todays society.
"DUALS" refers to the duel between oneself and the outside world, and to the duality between faith and insecurity. Seeking the answer to the question: "What time could this be"

Yesterday I attended Modefabriek, to see the latest trends and collections! I did a meet & greet with several designers of NEXT & CUTTING EDGE and did drinks and bites at the press room (score!)

Whenever I'm working on fashion stuff, I get a LOAD of energie... Good for you, because I did spotted some interesting new brands!

Special credits to Julia Föry - N2TF, Alexandra Kiesel - FINNK and the designers of DSTM.
Loved their work. You will find out more about them in the next couple of months so stay tuned!

Last week Louisa via Roma hosted Firenze 4ever, especially for the 4th edition of this amazing blogger event and the launch of the new spring/summer 2012 collection they pulled out the Pink Carpet to welcome all of their guests.

Let me tell you a little about the event itself, just in case you're not familiar with it... Firenze 4ever is about the most influential bloggers from all around the world creating their own multibrand looks for their own photoshoots (called style lab) using all the latest collections/ photo sets/ photographers/ make up artists and hair stylists wich are all being provided by the Louisa via Roma shop in Firenze!

I say.. Good thinking! What does a luxury shop wants more than branding by the most fashionable people around the world with the most fashion-conscious followers aswell?! Pamper them for a week, throw a party and let them shine at a Pink Carpet... Awesome feedback guaranteed!

WOW! I was actually stunned by all of the swapping and 'dealing' in Pocketpinda's HQ! I almost forgot to shop some myself... (naaah just kiddin') From 15.00h - 19.00h my place was turned into a sort of dream-walk-in-closet for those who were invited to THE FLOPSHOP. We spend 4 hours swapping, trying on, laughing and -last but not least- negotiating for cheap and cool items.

Recap Dutch Fashion Awards 2011

Ever had trouble choosing an outfit? Imagine what I had to deal with yesterday, while I was getting ready for the Dutch Fashion Awards 2011... Every single fashion insider was present in The Hague, all looking stunning and some even móre beautifull. Not even mentioning the awesome shows of the nominees and a sublime show of last years' winner, Iris van Herpen. I had an awesome evening, full of inspiration, admiration and amazement. Oh... and painfull feet!

Big winner of the night was Conny van Groenewegen, she left the building with a €25.000,- cheque by Mercedes-Benz and the International Incubator Award!
To be honest, I did not saw that coming... Her 2010 collection was more pocketpinda-ish than this one. It still was the most artistic collection of the evening.

Other winners were:

Hyun Yeu for his collection "Ado Les Scents" . Wich already has been praised for it's audacity. The collection will be sold in a pop-up store in Dutch departmentstore de Bijenkorf .

Maarten Spruijt and Elle Verhagen won the award for best dressed homme & best dressed femme. While receiving their award they made a statement for more colour in- and maintaining exclusivity of fashion. On wich I can agree with. If you don't, you should definately get in to fashion more or at least watch some fashion documentaries....

To bad Avelon designer Erik Frenken and Joline Jolink, didn't won anything... I stíll love Avelon though ;-)

And yes... I was accompanied by The Babe, who made a gorgeous recap possible for you guys!

Dutch Fashion Awards 2011

The Dutch Fashion Awards are coming to The Hague again, friday 4th of November my city will be filled with Fashion!

Apart from a professional jury, the nominees are quite promissing aswell; Conny Groenewegen, Erik Frenken, Hyun Yeu, Joline Jolink and Marcha Hüskes. I especially have high hopes for Erik Frenken, design director at Avelon. Love the look of the label. You may be familiar with Hyun Yeu for his "Ado Les Scents" label, wich is a promissing and annovative new standard for mens clothing... Too bad he doesn't have any dresses or womens clothing!

RECAP MINIMALL ROTTERDAM

About a week ago I visited MiniMall in De Hofbogen, Rotterdam wich was organised for the first time. And I liked! A few of the cool people of Swanmarket where there aswell as a few familiar faces of Bazaar Bizar. The location is very cool and fits the shops perfectly.

De Hofbogen, formerly 'owned' by several squatters and/ or artists, are transformed into a creative sort of platform and indeed 'mini mall' wich is more accesible for the audience. I don't know rather to be exided about this or not... I love the new look of De Hofbogen but I can't stop thinking about the former artists' studio's - where did THEY go?! I hope the artists can enjoy another raw environment for a lot of inspiration and a foundation for great art!
Still... the creatives that are stationed there now have a nice variety. From vintage fashion to back-in-the-day design to a comicbookshop, it's all there.

GREY IS MY FASHIONASSOCIATE

There is something about this Grey Thing that gets me. It's simply complicated, underappreciated maybe... I love it for it's shape, for it's feel and it's differentness. Hate it for it's contagiousness.

Pretty Pinkish pants is hard to combine sometimes. I don't want to scream BARBIE by wearing it, so rugged it up by wearing the Grey Thing on top.

Green Gut shoes are just cute. The Babe thinks they are clownish... I think he's wrong.

SAGE AND IVY goes PARIS

During Pret-a-Porter Paris Sage and Ivy was selected to show a few pieces of their collection for a worldwide audience, wich resulted in a lot of positive reactions.
Since I attended the show in january, I kept an eye on Alexia (founder of the label), because I really liked what I saw that day. Happily I did, Sage and Ivy still blows me away with their romantic and mysterious approach of fashion.

This years' summer was just horrible in Holland. So, when miss sun showed up yesterday I grapped my bikini and went to the beach with my sweet sister in law, Manuela and the Babe. Do you know Sheguang Hu? He is a very much loved designer in various parts of the world, from The Netherlands to Indonesia he's showing his collections. Last AIFW he was showing in Holland aswell in collaboration with jewelry designer Otazu.
This designer with roots in China, is working with high quality materials (duh!), decorations and embroidery.

For upcoming fall/winter season he designed a prêt-à-porter collection for HoutBrox Uden wich will be in store from on september 2nd, in Uden only. You will also be able to admire his latest haute couture collection "Emotion" in an exhibition in the HoutBrox Uden building (untill september 25th).
