As part of Apple's Meet the Comedian series, British jokesters Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle descended upon the Apple retail store in London's Regent street on 21st November 2011 to discuss their upcoming tours, dissect each others style and answer some interesting audience questions.

They are both known for their unique deadpan styles and unapologetic often controversial content, but they have entirely different deliveries and personas - Jimmy the well spoken, quick witted one liner, - Frankie the pessimistic aggressive Scot - but as any 8 out of 10 Cats fan will confirm they compliment one another exceedingly well.

While there are funny moments the intention of the event is for the audience to get an insight into the comedy philosophies and future projects of two of Britain's most edgy comedians by giving them a stage to talk openly and honestly without the pressure to perform and make a paying audience laugh.

Since meeting in college and realizing they both had a similar bizarre sense of humour, the natural progression for Gloucester friends Sam and Chris on their course for world domination was to take their ramblings from the student bar to the world via podcasting.

In 2002 British comedian Richard Herring (described as "one of the leading hidden masters of modern British comedy") started a daily blog on his website as a means to overcome the dreaded writers block. Since then he has written every day - making it one of the longest running daily blogs worldwide.

Spanning everything from his stand up shows to his relationships, social commentary and comedic take on the mundane hum drum of life, his writing is witty, often sarcastic and self deprecating but always brutally honest and a cathartic release describing the highs and lows of his life that spawns ideas for his future TV/Radio/Stand Up material that push the boundaries of comedy to the limit.

X-Play is American cable channel G4's flagship video game review show hosted by Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb.

The X-Play podcast features clips from the broadcast show with honest game reviews with in game footage, previews of future game releases, developer interviews and game industry news from all the major platforms.

The show is fast paced and entertaining with the presenters performing comedy skits and recurring jokes but the main focus is on the games as they dissect the gameplay, story and graphics, giving credit where credit is due but also taking no prisoners on sub par games.

It is not surprising that X-Play is the most watched video game show on US TV and the podcast reflects its popularity and quality. If you are a gamer the X-Play podcast is essential viewing, made by gamers for gamers.

The Vintage ToonCast is a collection of cartoons and PSA's from the 1930's to the 1960's whose copyright has expired and thus now in the public domain.

They feature classic characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Betty Boop, Popeye and Superman but before you start playing them to your toddler as Nick Jr replacements be aware that they are of a certain era and some include 2nd world war propaganda, racial and sexual stereotypes - hence the podcast's explicit tag in iTunes.

However as a glimpse into early animation style and how the days current affairs, erroneous consciousness and government disinformation became subtle and sometimes not so subtle undercurrents in essentially children's cartoons they are curious to watch if you think of them as historic relics rather than humorous modern entertainment.

Highlights from comedy duo Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish's stint at London's XFM are available as 20 hilarious podcast episodes.

Originally they were suppose to be temporary presenters filling in for Rickey Gervais' Saturday show in 2003 whilst he filmed the 2nd series of The Office but when Gervais left the station shortly after, the pair took over the slot staying for 3 years before moving to BBC 6 Music.

The show consisted of the inventive pairs musings and silliness with regular features such as Song Wars where the pair write and record a themed song and listeners vote the winner. The banter is genuinely funny, witty and engaging and although there are plenty of "in" jokes that regular listeners will appreciate, new listeners will not feel excluded. All in all some of the finest comedy radio broadcast in the UK in recent times which podcast subscribers can relive.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Pt 2 Podcast

To celebrate the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2, the final installment of the phenomenally successful franchise, British radio station Absolute Radio released their red carpet interviews with the stars of the film as they attended the UK premier in 2011.

Each video features a star of the Harry Potter series talking to an Absolute Radio reporter for a minute or two about their experiences on the film and their reaction to the huge loyal fan support. The interviews are also available in a single collected audio file.

Cast interviews include the main characters played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson along with supporting actors Timothy Spall, Mathew Lewis, Mark Williams and Jason Isaacs as well as Harry Potter creator JK Rowling.

To promote the launch of his autobiography "Thanks for Nothing" in 2009, comedian Jack Dee released 6 short video ads through the books official podcast.

The podcasts do not contain any extracts or in fact much info about the book instead featuring personal pleas to buy the book from from the grumpy, disillusioned and dry witted comedy legend. However they are short and fun enough to spend a few minutes watching and give a taste of Jack's style to anyone unfamiliar.

The autobiography itself is a journey of Jacks early life with hilariously frank accounts of short lived jobs and his eventual stumble into comedy in the late 1980's. An unabridged audio book version read by Jack is available in iTunes.
