Listening to podcast is rather simple; it only requires a few minimalistic technical steps to enable you to virtually listen to anything you can hear.

The following 3 steps explains you how to listen to a podcast that is made available via a website.

To start listening to a podcast:

1. Go to a website that has a podcast available, Google can help you find you a podcast that is within your interest with a click of a button.
2. Each podcast has its own hyperlink. Click on the hyperlink of the podcast you want to listen to. You can do this directly on your computer, Windows, Mac and Linux all support podcasting. Additionally you can download the podcast and transfer it to your iPod or MP3 player.
3. If you wish you can also subscribe to one of the RSS feeds that are available on the podcast website. Your podcasting software will check the RSS feed on regular time intervals and automatically download the content that you are interested it. When you connect your iPod or MP3 player to your computer it automatically updates and transfer the latest available podcasts to your portable media player.

[ad#Google Adsense - Leaderboard]

Since the MP3 audio format came on the market various other audio file types have emerged as well. Depending on the selected audio format the file size and the required capacity for streaming is affected. Besides the MP3 audio format AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) and WMA (Windows Media Audio) became popular standards within the world of podcast. To help you in the world of various audio formats there is free technology available that enables you to listen to most of these formats. Such software is Windows Media Player, Apple Quicktime, Winamp or my personal favorite VLC.

The next logical step after listening to a podcast is to find a podcast that is into your field of interest. Apple their iTunes stores is one purveyor of podcasts. Additionally you can try to consult one of the many podcast directories that are available on the Internet. To help you out I have listed a few below.

Podcasting directories

The following podcasting directories will help you getting started in the world of podcasting.

•	PodShow
•	Podcast Alley
•	Podcast.net
•	The Podcast Directory
•	Podcast Pickle

Most likely you can find a podcast about anything you want on the Internet but if you can’t find what you’re looking for you can create your own podcast without much effort. Basically everyone that has a computer and a microphone can create his or her own podcast.

Before you start video- or pod casting it is wise to know the beginning. This article takes you back to the beginning of pod casting and takes you to today's era of pod casting.

iPod 5th Generation white.

Have you ever dreamed of having your own radio or television show? Are you maybe a radio artist and would like to have your song put out to the mass? Decades ago it would have cost you a fortune, a lot of time and a lot of connections to get heard.

These times are over; due to the Internet you now have access to millions of people and your dream or passion could become reality. Like with blogging where everyone can become a reporter podcast give the opportunity to people to become a radio presenter, talk show host, a recording artist or reporter in your own video bulletin.

[ad#Google Adsense - Leaderboard]

Post casting, the recording of audio and broadcasting it over the Internet found its popularity with the so called techie culture but now it becomes more and more popular for the common due to services and products like iTunes, YouTube, iPod and the iPad. Log on to one of the server podcasting websites on the Internet or on iTunes and you can download content ranging from music to sports to philosophy to … well any form of entertainment or interest you are interested in. Podcasting combines the freedom of blogging with digital audio and/or video technology to create an almost endless supply of audio and/or video content. Some experts say that this new technology (podcasting and video casting) is democratizing the once corporate-run world of television and radio.

Podcasting is a service that allows users to pull audio, mostly in the MP3 audio format, from a podcasting website or iTunes. Once downloaded the user then can listen to this audio file on either there computer or MP3 player such as the iPod. The concept of video casting is similar to podcasting with the only difference that there is a video signal available with the audio. Common websites where one can view and upload video recordings is YouTube, Google Video, USTREAM, etc.

The word podcast is made by the words iPod (a personal digital audio player or MP3 player made by Apple) and broadcasting. Even though the term is derived from iPod you don’t need an iPod to listen to the podcast. You can take any MP3 player or personal computer to play out the recorded podcast. Video podcast (sometimes shortened to vodcast) is a term used for the online delivery of video on demand video clip. Both podcasts and vodcasts use Atom or RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds to create a non-linear TV or radio channel to which subscribers can subscribe to using either a personal computer, a television, a set top box, media center or a mobile media device such as a IPod, MP3 player or even a mobile telephone.
