Locked Post no 2

Here's my second locked post. It's been brought to my attention some of you are having trouble viewing my locked posts. First, I'd like to say I'm sorry for this. I wish I could say I'm a genius in computer programming but I can't. I copy and paste most of the things you see here at Poefusion. But, when I do my locked posts I key in the password too. It always works for me so I'm left to wonder what is going wrong for some and not others. My suggestion would be to let Poefusion's page load completely before clicking on the shades of mj link provided. Once it's loaded click on the shades of mj link and key in the password you were given. If you still can't see my posts please e-mail me and I will try to see what's wrong.

Also, I've sent out a password to those I had an email address. If you haven't received your password and you've signed up to read my locked posts please email me your email address. Thanks to everyone who signed up.

Saturday I finished reading The Cross and the Switchblade by David Wilkerson. Today I started reading Any Minute by Joyce Meyer and Deborah Bedford. Here's a portion of the blurb from the back jacket.

The Lincoln's nose struck cold water at full velocity. Metal sheered off. She tasted blood. Adrenaline shot through her, numbed her with needlelike precision. I'm in trouble. Her heart pounded faster than it had ever pounded before. When she tried to scream for help, nothing came. Fear clamped her throat, leaving her no voice. The constricted sound that escaped was something between a gasp and a reedy cry...

The Cross and the Switchblade

Today I finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I'm pleased I didn't go see the movie before finishing the book. It would have ruined the experience I think. Now I can freely watch the movie and make my comparisons.

My next book of choice is called The Cross and the Switchblade by David Wilkerson. It's a true story about David Wilkerson, a country preacher, who goes to New York on God's calling. He founded Teen Challenge, an inner- city ministry that today maintains residential and crisis counseling centers around the globe.

I chose this book because I was given a copy while attending grade school at Porter Elementary. I lost the book before I could read it and even watched the film in Porter's gym. Now, years later, I find a fresh copy in my possession and look forward to reading about David's journey. Here's an excerpt from pgs. 11 and 12. The following may not be for all readers so proceed with caution.

"What's the matter with me!" I said aloud, impatiently brushing away a tear. I looked at the picture more carefully. The boys were all teenagers. They were members of a gang called the Dragons. Beneath their picture was the story of how they had gone into Highbridge Park in New York and brutally attacked and killed a fifteen-year-old polio victim named Michael Farmer. The seven boys stabbed Michael in the back seven times with their knives, then beat him over the head with garrison belts. They went away wiping blood through their hair, saying, "We messed him good."

My poem is an old one made from an online magnetic poetry kit. The willow/ pond is something I pass on my way to town.

Blue Heron

We were driving west on Orangeburg road yesterday when I spotted a blue heron in an open field. It stood perfectly still, unsolicited, with brisk October winds slogging across its back. The sun a poultice on its wings. It carefully eyed my intrusion upon its playground as I walked closer- camera lens extended.

Then...

It rinsed itself of my presence seeking solace in a copse of trees. Happy Monday~

I'm still reading The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I'm not managing my time well enough to finish reading it. Here's an excerpt from pg. 273.

Henry: I'm sitting on a radiator in a musty room full of boxes of prayer books. Gomez is pacing back and forth, smoking. He looks terrific in his tux. I feel like I'm impersonating a game show host. Gomez paces and flicks his ashes into a teacup. He's making me even more nervous than I already am.

Just Chillin'

Yesterday afternoon afforded me a rare ~~look~~ closeup of wasps 'just chillin'. It's nice to see nature at its most intimate, vulnerable and connected moments, a much slower pace. So often we see nature's movements in a frenzy like butterfly's fluttering, hummingbird's flitting, birds in flight, or white tailed deer running and jumping through fields.

It's at this moment we slow our hectic pace to see life's softer sides. We feel those fresh fall breezes scuding across our faces. We notice the gray storm clouds forming above our heads and breathe in the scent of rain that's coming. And, we watch in wonder as nature procreates.

Locking Individual Posts

Today I'm giddy with excitement as I can now lock individual blog posts like Wordpress users. I've been wanting to use this feature since I've seen it on Wordpress blogs. Last night afforded me that chance as I happened upon everything I needed to know by a single mishap search.

Now I can have a public blog with some private thoughts mixed in. But, there's a catch. You'll have to have a password in order to view the content of my locked posts. If you're a regular commenter to my blog and you would like to have the password sound off in the comments below.

For the curious of mind here's a demonstration of a locked post. These posts use an encryption code that will scramble my original post. You will see a link that says click here to view post. When you click this link it will ask you for a password. For our demonstration purposes here I will use the password: poetry. So, when prompted key in poetry.
