Talking Flowers

Once a little boy
went for a walk in a park
and there he saw some flowers
...hug each other and talk

He went near these flowers
and sat there for....hours !

Now that dear little boy
is always full of joy !!!

Garden Mouse

I have a big house
....that has a huge lawn

but my garden has a mouse
whose coat is brownish fawn....

My garden has many flowers
who smile in the rain showers

all day they shine bright...
and they all sleep when it is night...

but the little naughty mouse
plays his dirty trick...
...wakes up these little flowers...
and then runs away...very quick !!!

LIVING CIRCUS

One day, sitting in a circus tent
I thought of life, thoughts came and went

Each act, it seems is thoroughly rehearsed
They may seem daring, but all players, well-versed

The secret is the rhythm, the background music
Each note is a cue, when to drop, when to pick

For tight rope walking, we need a big pole
And walking on thin air ? is a much simpler role

For general amusement, wild beasts are tamed
But beasts are beaten , at their own games and shamed

A girl is seen rotating, few knives are thrown
But the knife-thrower’s inner thoughts are seldom known

The trapeze artists swing high and then catch
The discarded swing of the previous batch

Music allows a certain grace and some beauty
But a net is provided for additional safety

The spot light is focussed always on players
But it is the band that directs, trick is truly theirs

All that the spectators see is the glitter and the glow
Background music is the key, this they don’t know

The only true artists are the clowns in this circus
They know each trick, but fumble, just to amuse us

The only true artists, these clowns do perform
On sheer impulses, not to any music, any form !

Forests Are Forever

( bhaskarbenjamin’s Corbett series)

When you are in the heart of a jungle
your heart can sing in rhythm of the jungle jingle !
You can spot a deer…that is spotted my dear
and you shall never feel bored…of the shabby wild boar !
You can see some sambars…they are very very sombre
and you can meet some fowls…and of course some owls !
You can spot a tusker…your voice turns into a whisper
well yes…there are leopards…when you look upwards
to the sky and heave a sigh…on a ledge that is high
you shall spot the great tiger….which shall make you hold tighter
whatever you have been holding then !
You can have a little crush…on the sweet jungle thrush
woodpeckers sure would …peckat your heart strings
and glow worms would make you glow…they are lovely things !
This heady and rich experience
You shall always live….in a sense !
May we wish and pray….together
that forests remain forever !!!

Monument in Rain

Monument in rain...standing tall...proud and sad
it has many stories to tell.....how many seasons it has had...
.... wants to make new friends.......wishes to share news of the by gone age
... mix of human .....feelings and failings ... of riots and rampage !

But whats this ! ...tourists go... up and down this crumbling structure
no one pauses ... communicates.....all they care for... is their picture !!!

" What I saw today,and I am now writing about,are trees,which were happy,and some,they were tall,while some half grown,and some,they were shady,and some were green,some had large leaves,and some with shining leaves,while some had long branches,and some looked like puppies,some yearned to touch you,some nodded in the breeze,some hid the yellow sun,some had yellow leaves,some stood proud and straight,while some had bowed knees,some danced around in joy,some inclined to various degrees,some sang along with birds,while some whispered lullabies,some were dark and dense and leafy,some welcomed with open sleeves,some looked like great castles,some like canopies,some made you stand up in awe,some simply just did please,some had lived a hundred years,some had started a new lease.....

JUNGLE LAW

Man is civil, as he wears clothes,
and has also made some laws
Though it is a different matter,
law courts thrive on loopholes and flaws.

Law of the land is seldom followed
In spirit, leave alone the letter
Each day some new clause is added
But lawyers seem to be getting even better.

This changing scene in man made cities
Is often likened to the jungle law
But if you ever visit a forest
You shall see the error, as I saw :

No one in jungle killed for fun
No one took two, if there was need for one
Jungle life was smooth and in order
There were no bails , no useless stay order

There were no gang lords, no terrorists no dons
There were no role-players, there were no masks to put on !
Wild beasts as we call them have a law that is just
One kills only for food, not for greed, not for lust !

My window has a view of this world outside
and I am often fascinated by my window.....

My window always looks for possibilities
and it never tires of looking at the world !

My window is my source of joy....
and my window is my ' real window' to the world !

My window is also a canvas....of many hues
and I look out of my window....and marvel at this world !!!

Looking at our buildings
I often reflect...
That we've learnt a lot...yet nothing
from nature's architect !

We make rectangular boxes
with straight walls and beams
structurully...may be sound....
but un liveable...it seems ...

Is not possible....
a tree like constuction ?
could be more pleasant
and perform a full function .....!

Can we not think of
buildings with hilly contour
...a solace to the eyes...
housing both rich and poor...

When I saw the Taj..... yes ! when I first saw the Taj Mahal....
I felt that there was something inside in me ....I wish I could tell...
That wanted to leap out....and scream......
.......yes....it is a dream..... !!!

My inside was in torment....yet in peace of a kind...
My pulse raced......I was spellbound.....but it was
also a happiness.....strange & un defined !!!

If green is the colour of leaves
It can’t be the colour of envy

If blue is the colour of the sky
How can I ever feel blue

If red is the colour of a glowing sunset
How can red stand for danger

If black is the colour of a starry night
How can black bring bad luck?

If white is the colour of a new born day
It can’t be colour for mourning

All colours reflect life and beauty
Let us not simply colour our vision !!!

WAR AND PEACE

War has been brought right in your living room
Thanks to the satellites and dishes that mushroom

Now while you sip beer you can see a town burning
The thrills and the chills…with a pickled onion ring

Thousands homeless, helpless you can see from close range
Half-clad kids crying…while your sweat shirt you change

There is a sudden burst and the screen is all yellow
Many have been killed…your phone rings...you say hullo

Then the camera catches a ground to ground missile
You inch a bit closer….and no one survives for a mile

While the war games are on…you dig into your dinner
The meat is very tender…..some burn and many simmer...

It’s a live transmission of a very deadly show
While you yawn and stretch out, how many dead we don’t know !!!

COMBO NO. I.... THE BOOK OF TREE

THE BOOK OF TREE

Who am I …I often ask the tree
There is no one else to ask !

Raising my head…taking the leaves…
the branches…and the tree trunk in my field of vision…

I toss up this question…. And the tree simply smiles….

And if you have been through this…
Like me…asking the tree some tough questions…

You’ll know that the tree never gives an answer…
Instead …thousands of leaves…nod and shake…

And the branches too…sometimes sway…

And you get….be only for few moments…
A glimpse of an answer….

You can actually take many leaves…
From the book that is tree !
