I saw the great image of Courage,
Her brightness with my own two eyes—
She stood on the Mountain of Chaos
And bore on her shoulders the skies.
The ground underneath rocked her sleepless,
Ruthless, unrelenting it was—
But Fear was a feeling so foreign
To a being so sure of her cause.
The ghosts of her past came to haunt her
And whispered her thoughts of disgrace—
But the beauty of Passion adorned her
And Hope lit her glorious face.
To the tongues that hath spoke of her ill
Her ears went deaf, turning away—
Those phantoms thus fueled her persistence
That tempted to lead her astray.
She said, “I am Courage, incarnate.
I shall not falter through unrest:
Such conflict and strife be no match
For the light of Resolve in my breast.”
Determined, her heart, to her purpose,
When all else hath left her forsaken;
A fire of unyielding devotion
Burned brightly and left her unshaken.
Through oceans of rage and through storm
That rain down upon her great trial:
The challenges, now an old comrade—
She welcomes her friend with a smile…
