Autumn Bleeds into the Neon Bay

The neon towers steep into night,
While a thousand windows crystal-gleam,
And electromagnetic motes take flight.
At Snake's Mouth, a hanging tide-light swells,
Sparks and flames climb skyscraping tiers.
Purple fires scorch the void,
Blue-green tides temper the bay's glass skin,
Fine ripples wash away the lingering heat.
Wind tears across the clock-face，
The second hand slants, stabbing plane-tree leaves.
Who calls the cold-winged solitary bird?
Over sandbars it skims a shadow's trace，
The whole bay turns a page, shifting place.
On mountain paths, clouds cast their hunting nets,
Wringing shards from the wasteland's full-moon face.
Fishing songs dissolve into the water's ear,
Village dreams shed their paper hulls,
Waters surge, urging us toward farewell.
Eastward, a faint whiteness rises,
A wisp of smoke, fading, glowing.

About this poem
A landscape where technological brilliance, nature, and historical memory collide. “Neon towers,” “electromagnetic motes,” and “skyscraping tiers” create an intense vision of urban modernity, while the bay, sandbars, mountains, and fishing songs preserve traces of an older world. The shifting clock-face suggests unstable time, as if rapid modernization has fractured the boundary between past and present. The “cold-winged solitary bird” becomes an emblem of loneliness, migration, and displacement. As village dreams “shed their paper hulls,” traditional life appears to dissolve beneath the forces of urban transformation. The final “faint whiteness” offers not certainty, but an ambiguous horizon—simultaneously dawn, smoke, memory, and departure. more »
