This art is titled "The Virgin Spanking Christ" by German artist Max Earnest. In the painting there are 3 people on the left in a frame. This can mean perhaps the trinity, but are labeled as witnesses. These three people are Max Ernst, Andre Breton, and Paul Elard.
These men are, as explained in the title of the painting, André Breton, the French writer who had written the Surrealist Manifesto of 1924, Paul Éluard, the French poet who was also one of the founders of the surrealist movement, and Max Ernst himself. This art work was created in 1926.

Edgar Degas is a French artist (19 July 1834 – 27 September 1917) famous for his work in painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing. This photo above is titled "Blue Dancers" is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism although he rejected the term, and preferred to be called a realist. A superb draughtsman, he is especially identified with the subject of the dance, and over half his works depict dancers. These display his mastery in the depiction of movement, as do his racecourse subjects and female nudes. His portraits are considered to be among the finest in the history of art.
Early in his career, his ambition was to be a history painter, a calling for which he was well prepared by his rigorous academic training and close study of classic art. In his early thirties he changed course, and by bringing the traditional methods of a history painter to bear on contemporary subject matter, he became a classical painter of modern life.
Filled with beautiful pieces—watercolors, paintings, drawings, and collages—this fine book offers an expansive survey of the life work of Carmen Cicero.

This art really displays creativity and imagination by the artist to make an ordinary everyday object and make it special and interesting.
Grigoriou Panagiotis is a Greek Surreal Artist, Anthropologist and Historian. This art work titled "Exit to Life", conveys so many abstract ideas because the image depicts a couple of objects ( a female, a door, birds, sky, light, chess, black and red colors) combined together to allow for one's own fascinating interpretation.
Stars, Songs, Faces
Gather the stars if you wish it so.
Gather the songs and keep them.
Gather the faces of women.
Gather for keeping years and years.
And then...
Loosen your hands, let go and say good-bye.
Let the stars and songs go.
Let the faces and years go.
Loosen your hands and say good-bye.
By
Carl Sandburg
Key points/insights: what does the word gather mean in this poem?
What type of advice does the poem give?
I looked in the mirror.

Handsome is as handsome does, I thought.

So I decided to do something handsome

BBecause actions speak louder than words.

After acting handsome,

I looked in the mirror again.

Beauty is only skin deep, I thought,

I must have thick skin.

Observation: The writer uses several cliches in the poem; for example 'money talks'. Can you identify the four cliches, and which one shows most clearly the speaker is conceited

On the Wind-Beaten plains
oncelived my ancestors.
In the day of peaceful moods,
they wandered and hunted.
In the days of need or greed,
they warred and loafed.
Beneath the lazy sun, kind winds above,
they laughed and feasted.
Through the starlit night, under the moon,
they dreamed and loved.
Now, from the wind plains,
only their dust rises.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide
and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet / 1,800 metres) For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves; it is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona. On Feb 26, 1919 U.S. President Woodrow Wilson signs an act of U.S. Congress establishing most of Grand Canyon as a National Park. Also considered as one of the seven wonders of the world.
