Take a look at another hard worker to add to your work force this Labor Day.

Labor Day is almost here, and PokeFarm continues to honor the workhorses of the Pokémon battlefield with the Clear Wing Pokémon, Yanma.

Yanma and its evolved form, Yanmega, make use of their high Special Attack and Speed in battle. Yanmega has a relatively diverse movepool, as well as the highest base stat total of all Bug-type Pokémon. Its abilities are also very helpful against the opposition: Speed Boost increases Yanmega’s Speed at the end of every turn, and Tinted Lens (which a Yanma with the Compoundeyes ability will inherit upon evolution) doubles the damage Yanmega gives to an opponent who has a type resistance to the attack.

They are all of Modest (+Special Attack, -Attack) nature and have the following moves at their disposal:

Protect – (Normal)
Protect will shield Yanma from nearly every attack for the turn, but its likelihood to work decreases if you use it repeatedly.
AncientPower – (Rock, Power 60, Acc 100)
This attack may increase all five of Yanma’s stats after inflicting damage to the foe. When leveling up Yanma, the presence of this move will trigger it to evolve into Yanmega.
Bug Buzz – (Bug STAB, Power 90, Acc 100)
This move may lower the foe’s Special Defense and its power is magnified due to the Same-Type Attack Bonus Yanma gets with its Bug typing.
Air Slash – (Flying STAB, Power 75, Acc 95)
A strong Flying-type move (also made more powerful by Yanma’s Flying typing) that may cause the foe to flinch.

All of these bugs show off their quick movement in battle, having a 31 IV stat in Speed. They’ll do the work so you don’t have to.

Celebrate Labor Day with a hard working pokemon!

With Labor Day fast approaching, it is time for Pokefarm to honor the workhorses of the pokemon battlefield and Donphan surely fits the bill.

They are a powerhouses both in Attack and Defense. They can come in on physical attacks and clear the field of hazards by using Rapid Spin and set up entry hazards of their own. While little Phanpys can’t learn Rapid Spin, once they evolve to Donphan the move relearner will teach them it for the price of a Heart Scale. They can also learn powerful attacks from the Move Tutors such as Seed Bomb, Gunk Shot, Superpower and Bounce to round out an attack you team might be missing.
These little guys are already working as they have the Pickup ability and will gather items for you if you have them in your party during a battle. Once they evolve they take on a Sturdy ability that makes them immune to OHKO moves.
They are all Adamant (+ Attack, -SpAttack) about doing their part to help and know the following moves:

Body Slam - (Normal, Power 85, Acc 100)
A powerful attack that has a 30% chance of paralyzing your opponent

Ice Shard – (Ice, Power 40, Acc 100)
A priority move that hits Flyers that are immune to Earthquakes. This moves makes up for Donphan’s lack of speed by letting you get a jump on most moves and hits Dragons especially hard.

Stealth Rock
This sets up floating rocks that damage pokemon as they enter the battle based on their weakness to Rock attacks.

Earthquake (Ground STAB, Power 100, Acc 100)
One of the most powerful moves in the game that gets a STAB boost from Phanpy/Donphan’s Ground Typing

True to their tank-like nature these will all have a 31 IV in defense to insure that they will take a licking and keep on ticking.

These Phanpy will be clocking out Friday at 5:00 PM Pacific (8:00 PM Eastern) on August 20th, 2010

Join the Zeppelin Festival and see what's flying high on Pokefarm!

The long awaited reopening of the Zeppelin Gym has arrived and with it comes the Zeppelin Festival. The Zeppelin Gym’s typing is Normal and Flying.
You can battle and earn one of the coveted Zeppelin badges by defeating Trombones13 in a pokefarm league gym battle.
Breeders can show off their skills by entering the “You Make The Team” contest. The breeder who enters the best offspring that is a Normal and/or Flying type will win a prize and have their pokemon make the Zeppelin Gyms battling team. For more information check out this thread in the forums.
Keep checking in for other contests, tournaments and farming events that are celebrate Flying and Normal type pokémon.

In honor of the Zeppelin Gym I am giving away Fearows. They are level 49 and know the following moves:

Agility - Agility raises its Speed two levels to double its base speed

Assurance – (Dark, Power 50 Acc 100) Assurance along with its Normal typing serves as a great counter for Ghost types. Assurance’s power doubles if that pokemon has already received damage in that turn

Roost - Roost restores half of Fearow’s maximum HP, but removes its Flying typing for the rest of that turn.

Drill Peck – (Flying STAB, Power 80, Acc 100) A powerful STAB move that makes Fearow something to fear.

What makes these special from the run of mill Fearow caught on Route 225 is that all of these Fearows are shiny. I have around thirty of them and they will go to the first thirty that sign up here and meet me in the wifi room for the event.

To receive one of these golden birds be in the wifi room on Tuesday at 5:00 PM Pacific (8:00 PM Eastern) on August 3rd, 2010

Comment with your Name and Friend Code

Get a pokémon to trade, I’m not looking for anything particular just something you don’t want. If you have had success at chaining and would like to trade one of your shiny pokemon that would be wonderful, but it’s no problem if you don’t.

Make yourself available to Trade (invite->Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.

These will come from my Platinum game

Brush up on your training while you earn valuable Battle Points!
Ace trainer Cal will show you how tough these three can be with the right training.

Once you battle your way through Kanto to Viridian City you will find a Trainer House there where you can battle other top trainers. You can battle the trainers there once every day and for every victory you can earn 1 battle point. You can enter any pokemon that you like and use any hold items you want. Your pokémon can be any level you like, but they are maxed out at level 50. Your items, status and HP will be refreshed and replenished before each battle.

The initial trainer there is Ace trainer Cal. He only has three pokémon, but he shows you the potential of how strong the Johto starters can be be with some proper breeding and training.

Meganium ♀ lvl 50, holding a Sitrus Berry

LeechSeed

Toxic

Protect

Energy Ball

This pokémon is built defensively and it takes more than one super-effective attack to bring it down. If you don’t, it will slowly sap away your HP.

Typhlosion ♀ level 50, holding a Salac Berry

Eruption

Flamethrower

Substitute

Focus Blast

Typhlosion likes to come in on Fire or Ice attacks against Meganium and replenish its substitutes if Leech Seed is in effect. The Salac Berry allows it to outspeed opposing pokemon once its HP is in the red.

Feraligatr ♀ level 50, holding a Lum Berry

Dragon Dance

Waterfall

Ice Punch

Crunch

Feralgatr provides the physical attack and is built sturdy. It often takes two Dragon Dances to outspeed some of the faster pokémon, but if you let it gather up steam it can roll over your entire team.

When you upload a pokémon to your pokéwalker the information of the team you are currently playing is loaded onto the pokéwalker also. When two pokéwalkers are connected, you not only receive a gift in both pokéwalkers, but the information of your team is also exchanged. Gifts, items you find, pokémon that you have caught and watts can be deposited to any game whether or not it matches the pokéwalker. When you receive the gift, the trainers info and team show up in the Viridian Training House where you can battle them every day. You can even battle yourself with the team you had when you exchanged gifts, if their gift is deposited in your game.
You can have as many as ten opposing trainers in the Training Hall. Remember you can only exchange gifts with another trainer’s pokéwalker 10 times, so try to meet as many fellow trainers as you can to rack up extra battle points every day.

From July 31 until August 27, 2010 HeartGold and SoulSilver owners can download a special Mystery Gift over the Nintendo Wi-Fi. It is an Enigma Stone. Its not much on its own, but if you take it to the Pewter Museum where they reanimate fossils that you have found, they will reveal that it is actually Soul Dew.

Soul Dew is a rare item that when held by Latios or Latias will raise both their Special Attack and their Special Defense one level (50%). After exchanging your Enigmas Stone for Soul Dew, Steven Stone will appear in Pewter City and reveal that Soul Dew is believed to be the solidified spirits of Latios and Latias. Once you leave you will be challenged by them depending on the version you are playing.

For SoulSilver, you will challenged by Latias. She will be at level 40 and know the following moves:

Water Sport

Refresh

The newest Pokéwalker course is now available for wifi download until June 25th, 2010. It’s appropriately named the Winner’s Path and has pokémon that have moves that are not learned as level up moves and useful hold items for battling. These pokémon and items may be the help you need to conquer the elite four or maybe knock off Red from atop Mt. Silver.
As with the all courses there are beneficial natures that can lower the minimum step count by 25% and those types are Dark, Electric and Fighting. The pokémon available from this course are:

You may flip over this new game found in the Goldenrod Game Corner

Once you have reached Goldenrod in Johto you will find that the Slot Machines of previous games have been replaced by a new game called Voltorb Flip. With this game some of the luck and button pushing skills have been replaced by strategy. Here are some helpful hints from our resident farmer Sorgatani on how to win some coins and garner valuable prizes:

As others have mentioned, the game is quite addictive, once you get used to it!

I would describe it as a combination of the games Minesweeper, Sudoku, and Picross

Because my camera is out of batteries, and I can’t find the charger, I’m going to give you a gradual playthrough, of my ‘level 5′ game. I am not necessarily expecting to win, but I am going to do it in such a way that maybe you will understand my thought processes in making the decisions that I do.

The numbers in red indicate how many Voltorbs are in the field; whereas the number above the line indicates how much the numbers in that particular row/column add up to.

Let’s begin. *studies board*

I will begin by opening my Memo, and looking at what I do *not* need to flip. Ah! See that bottom row? It’s a 5×5 grid – if the top and bottom numbers add up to ‘5′, then every tile in that row is either a Voltorb or a ‘1′ – which is neutral, and does not affect your score. If it’s a choice between a ‘voltorb and a 1′, well personally I choose neither – so I mark the whole row with both the ‘voltorb’ and ‘1′ stamps.

I continue to inspect the board, making stamps as I go, before I decide upon the first tile I’d actually like to flip.

Ah-ha! Middle column, second tile from the bottom. That is my first target – because both 8 and 10 are high numbers. I close the memo, and tap the tile. *crosses fingers*

and it’s a 3! ^_^ *searches for more potential targets*

This is taking a while… but if I lose, I’ll show the final board – promise!

Current score: 3

*flips middle row, second from top* Another 3!
Current score: 9

*second from top, second from right* A 2!
Current score: 18

In a risky maneuver, I opt for the last tile in the second row – an 8/1 coinciding with a 4/2. Fortunately, my hunch is correct – it’s a 2 – my current score is 36

Hmm… now my Stamps need updating – notice how I’ve flipped over numbers higher than 1? Well now I have to factor them into calculations; the amount of ‘potentially good’ tiles is actually decreasing, which is a good thing! That last column has a ‘2′ in it now, so every other tile must either be a voltorb or a 1.

My next move, will be top row, middle column – I’m thinking it’s a 2 *crosses fingers*

And it is! Current score: 72

Hmm.. well I’m going to go ahead and flip that middle one, I think it’ll be another ‘2′

Yup! Current score: 144.

I also need to update my stamps ;)

Notice now I only have 2 viable targets? I think my game is almost over – and I hope it is in a good way.

I am selecting the cell that is second from the left, and second from the bottom. It will either make or break this game ;)

A 3! 432 coins, and that was indeed the last tile.

Before the ‘reveal’, my board looks like this:

After, it looks like this *stamps removed*

Thanks for reading – and as a personal note, I’m glad I finished by ‘winning’ instead of ‘losing’ – because I was hoping this might help people get used to the gameplay and controls.

I just noticed that this success got me up to an even 2100 coins! ^_^

Once you have gathered enough coins you can take them to the gentlemen seated in the game room and exchange them for prizes.
