Bill Clinton tells me to vote, and says nothing about baseball. John McCain complains about how he's losing, but doesn't mention baseball. Lou Dobbs pretends to be independant, no baseball. My iGoogle homepage is full of feeds about Sarah Palin's policy speech on energy, without mentioning the climate or baseball. Barack Obama gives the same speech he's given for the last 3 days...he's set the cruise control, but could care less about the world series, except whether or not his speech will be pushed back by the game. Joe Biden? Well, maybe Joe cares. He had a chance again tonight, to refute Barack Obama's policies espoused in his 30 minute prime-time commercial, by siting some of his own. Instead, as on many other important "rebuttal" opportunities, he sank into a familiar rant about "not knowing enough about Senator Obama".
We get it, John.
You, your team and your supporters don't know enough about Obama, but five days isn't enough time to "expose" him. McCain needs to talk about his own views, and stop talking about Barack's. All this does is make McCain look petty and desperate. Maybe he is desperate, but he sure as hell shouldn't show it. Come on John, talk about the issues. Go out on a high note, not a shrill one.

John Murtha May Lose: Good Riddance.

After his comments about western PA being "racist" and "slow" to accept change, Murtha's numbers have taken a dive. He also, later, called the area "redneck". Now, if that weren't MURTHA'S OWN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT...then maybe it would have slid into media obscurity. However, the pot calling the kettle racist, apparently, is not going to stand. McCain general election. Once Barack Obama became the presumptive nominee, Mr. McCain enacted the last best plan he had: throw the election in order to buck his party, unite the country behind the first African-American President of the United States, and get his revenge on Bush & co. who ruined his REAL chance of becoming president in 2000, when he was a spry 65 years old.

Mr. McCain's refusal to use the Jeremiah Wright association was his first act of subversion. A huge mistake according to most strategists and pundits, both democrat and republican.

Sen. McCain then chose Sarah Heath Palin as his ticket's un-vetted better half. A brilliant pick indeed. He is now well on his way to orchestrating the greatest act of selflessness in the history of modern politics.

Next, Mr. McCain was essentially forced into addressing William Ayers by Sarah 'the Diva' Palin and her ex-Bush handlers. The best he could come up with; "i could care less about an old washed up terrorist". I have no doubt he could care less, but anything to get himself to lose.

ACORN was another way for Sen. McCain to tie himself to controversy, but waited for CNN to break the story before admitting he attended an event co-sponsored by the community organization.

Finally, Joe the Plumber and the Socialist card. Joe 'Sam' the non-Plumber, one-man John McCain sleeper cell, sprung into action and threw down the full house on Barack Obama. "Sounds like SOOOOOOCIALISM to me." oooooOOOOoooooOOOO...the specter of all those peaceful countries west of Russia.

I for one would like to thank John McCain for his selfless act of kindness.

Why Barak Obama Can't Be President: He Knows What He's Talking About.

The same thing goes for Ron Paul (R) Texas.

So, it's been a few weeks. The Surge, the Democratic Congress, Rumsfeld go bye bye, Solar New Year, Christmas. and today...Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King's Day. An opportunity to reflect on the absence of great social leaders and the need for expanded human rights. However, it is civil rights, not human rights that seem to be the focus of American politicians. It's a common belief that there are no human rights violations taking place within the United States. Civil rights are human rights in disguise, in America, it doesn't feel possible to consider violating human rights. For many would be leaders and social activists, human rights are a foreign, not domestic problem.
Sitting here with my finger on the pulse of CSPAN, listening to people rate the state of culture/race relations in the US; "I would give it a B+." Terrorism is really just a failure to communicate with other cultures. An attempt to have an objective look at their traditions and beliefs, perhaps.

Instant Declassification

At midnight on Dec. 31, hundreds of millions of pages of secret documents will be instantly declassified, including many F.B.I. cold war files on investigations of people suspected of being Communist sympathizers. After years of extensions sought by federal agencies, the end of 2006 means the government’s first automatic declassification of records. Secret documents 25 years old or older will lose their classified status without so much as the stroke of a pen, unless agencies have sought exemptions on the ground that the material remains secret. The National Security Agency, the eavesdropping and code-breaking agency, has released 35 million pages, including an extensive collection on the Gulf of Tonkin incident that led to the escalation of the Vietnam War. More than 130 vehicles - including private automobiles - were wrecked and set on fire in South Jeolla and North Gyeongsang provinces, apparently by strikers, police said. The Korea Cargo Transport Workers' Federation went on strike Friday demanding prompt settlement of labor bills on raising cargo transport fees and guaranteeing labor rights.
Their industrial action disrupted shipment at major ports hitting the export-driven economy. The hardest hit was Gwangyang Port in the southwest, which handled about 35 percent of its usual cargo volume yesterday afternoon. Other ports in Busan and Pyeongtaek were running at less than half their normal cargo capacity.
Over 1,600 cargo workers gathered in rallies in 43 areas across the country yesterday. The strike is expected to reach a turning point today as the National Assembly construction committee debates the new set of labor bills. Even nonmembers of the federation have threatened to join the strike if there is still no resolution on the bills. The bills, proposed by the minor Democratic Labor Party, have been pending for several months.
Due to violent protests in the Jeolla and Gyeongsang regions over the weekend, a total of 62 freight cars and 66 private automobiles were damaged, and 18 cars were set on fire, the police said.
The Korean Herald - 12/05/06

Every retired US general as far back as George Washington has demanded this man's pink slip. This is as close to a military coup as the US can get. Well, October is behind us and still no suprise. Here's the suprise; the verdict is scheduled for November 5th, just 2 days before the midterm elections. Look for Monday's headlines to read something like "Guilty: Just In Time To Save GOP." I felt a little sick when i read this little blurb on BBC.co.uk because I had read about this a few months back in a NYTimes article. Now today Reuters is reporting the same information. Perhaps this is why Rove and the gang are so confident going into the home stretch.

Chuseok Holiday

Since I Last Rapped At Ya:

9-13-06
Bob Bowman, retired Air Force officer and 9/11 Truth advocate, wins the democratic nomination in Florida's 15th congressional district.
9-16-06
William "Rock" Rochyby arrives in Korea.

Satyagraha: Non-Violent Resistance and the Search for Truth

September 11, 1906.
Mahatma Gandhi speaks to 3000 Indians in Johannesburg, South Africa. Gandhi would later recognize the significance, stating; " The principle called Satyagraha came into being before that name was invented. Indeed when it was born, I myself could not say what it was."
This day was the conception of a powerful new idea.
Non-violent resistance would soon be employed to free 300 million Indians from British colonial rule and give hope to millions of repressed peoples around the world. Satyagraha would later be used by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to confront segregation in America and by Nelson Mandela in his struggle to end apartheid in South Africa.
In searching for the truth behind his own subjugation, Gandhi had found a way to use his suffering against his enemies. The process of loving one's enemy can be a difficult and profound exercise in understanding one's own true motivations. Through suffering and non-violent resistance a person may not find the truth they seek, but through war, one can only cloud the truth and forge hatred betwixt peoples and nations.
Further advances of non-violent resistance continue to change the policies and practices of governments everywhere, except in the United States. For the first time in American history, non-violent protests preempted a war. Unlike the Vietnam conflict which raged for nearly 6 years before peace movements gained traction, non-violent protests began months in advance of the war in Iraq. This resistance was met with armies of riot police and thousands of detentions and arrests. The war began as scheduled. Nothing was changed.
Has everyone forgotten that, throughout history, it has been popular movements, not leaders, that have been the catalyst for change? It was as though after the resistance to the Iraq war was squelched, people felt helpless and embarrassed. But, these feelings of ineptitude can be projected outwardly, through Satyagraha, to defeat violence. One's enemies can be made to look over-bearing and repressive if the suffering and subjugation become too great. Once that threshold is reached, the love for your enemy can be used to make him look boorish and uncouth.
As the "war on terror" turns 5 it might serve us well to also remember the 100th birthday of Satyagraha, the search for truth through non-violent resistance. Fear has always been the enemy of truth, but without fear, we are free to ask questions, even if the answers may not be to our liking. Fear of an idea (terror) has led us down the path of complacency and only by resisting that idea can we come to realize the truth; there is no war, only the fear of war.
Vinoba Bhave, one of Gandhi's successors said, " These days absence of war is regarded as peace. But peace really connotes absence of fear. There would be peace only when no part of the world is afraid of or exploited by any other part."
