I been meaning to blog about this and got some free time. At the Boyd Cloud Club meeting for the Democrats on Saturday it was mentioned a number of times that the Knox Dems need new people to grow the party. Case in point, the only elected Democrat at the meeting was Sam McKenzie a county commissioner. Now I find it mind blowing that one of the strongest clubs in the Democratic Party of Knoxville did not have a single City government official.

Throughout the meeting the old timers were talking about the glory days. Sort of like this...

Now, I am not in the business of naming names but there are a lot of newly elected Democrats, the Mayor's office has people making good coin and now more then ever the Democrats should be out in full force at these meetings telling their supporters all the great things they are doing. They should be destroying stereo types of being tax and spend and should be in the field rallying their soldiers.

Politics is not a 9 to 5 job. It is a 24/7 job plain and simple.

Everyone else takes credit. Kudos to BH he got recognized by Mad Dog Mike Donila and nobody else. I mean in my honest opinion it is like someone using your music without giving you credit. I thought about busting out some gossip last night but then I thought, why? So lazy tv journalists can steal from the bloggers and act like they are Woodward and Bernstein? Blog watchers are wondering what BH is going to do now that he has a family member working for a local tv station. I mean seriously he is in a catch 22. Blog about big stories and have other stations take credit like the Gloria Ray scenario...or pump the info he gets to his family member's TV station and pump up the TV ratings.
As for my blog, my meds for Parkinson's have a good 3 hour window in the morning. When I first wake up I can take my meds and type for about three hours. I like blogging but don't like not getting credit and the majority of headaches that comes with blogging. So I got no clue what the heck I am going to do.

First off "Anyone But Mitt."

Interesting back story to the photo of me with surging U.S. Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum. My good friend Antonio had me racing all over town getting stories and he was like lets go to the Tennessee Right to Life dinner. So we got their after it ended and Rick was still answering questions. It was October 21, 2010. He was very nice, his people didn't throw me out like Romney's people did who wanted no press in the building. I had a feeling he might go far. So I snapped some photos and wished him luck. Moral of the story, always hustle and always get the photo!

OK, now this is where I am really excited. My good friend Jordyn Mallory http://www.jordynmusic.com/ has made it to the Hollywood round of American Idol! I did a feature story in The Focus on Jordyn back in June of last year! I recently attended the Country Music Association official after party with her. I really feel she has a strong future.

Speaking of parties, the official Nashville Grammy Awards party happens Sunday and I am so excited to be attending as a member of the Grammys!

OK, the one thing that has really been taking up my time is http://www.teenhoot.com/ It is pretty close to being sold out. Last Teen Hoot was such a global phenomenon that it trended #3 world wide on twitter for over four hours. It was real exciting for me to be part of a new social media strategy that is taking music to the next level. Our goal is to rock the world with the #1 spot. We got new contests that I believe can help us pull it off!
It is an awesome feeling being a part of something so huge that it involves literally the whole world. Again, I bought into the vision of revolutionary iconic record producer David Malloy when this event was being held in a small studio. It has since grown to an international level. If you find local political races interesting, then imagine going from trying to persuade 8,000 voters to trying to persuade 100,000,000 twitter users to tweet your concert. We will pull it off!

I don't plan on going to The Bistro anytime soon. Look, it made international headlines and to be honest me going to that restaurant is like me going to a restaurant where an ex-girlfriend dumped me. The food and service are great but the reality is it just does not feel right being their.

the end-
Dan

He said that during one election every time the Democratic candidate knocked on a door the person answering said that they already promised Stacey their vote because he had already been to their house 4 times!
So I attended the Moxcar party of the year and wow it was amazing. I have coined it "The Crillion Ball of Knoxville." Google "Crillion Ball" or go right here http://wikifashion.com/wiki/Crillon_Ball/2011 to understand why. Basically, The Crillion Ball has become the most sought after party invite in the world! Yes, the Moxcar Party is in that category! The food was great, the music was fantastic, and the warm atmosphere of friendly conversation with people letting their guard down and talking about stuff other then politics was refreshing.
I must say I had the most delightful conversation with Alan. I think I finally found someone who loves cats more then me after checking out Cynthia's office...maybe! I must say I am quite jealous of the beautiful view Cynthia has out of her office of downtown (my view in my office is a bank parking lot.)You might be wondering why I don't have any photos up! To be honest, I was having such a great time that I forgot about the camera and just enjoyed the night! I cannot wait to read http://bluestreak.moxleycarmichael.com/ for the pictures, news, and notes about all the hard work that went into such an awesome event!

Mr. Andrews,

I just needed to drop this quick note to let you know how much I appreciated your article on the front page of the January 30th issue of The Knoxville Focus. Your article gave me a "warm fuzzy" feeling as I read. What sensitivity you showed with regard to both the handicapped and the Kat bus drivers.

At this moment in history we need more reporters like yourself, Mr. Andrews: ready to investigate and honestly appraise both sides of an issue, the strengths of both candidates in a political race, concerns of teachers as well as parents, disputes between employer and employee, etc.

I would look forward to more articles from you within this framework of fairness and decency. I believe others in the media could learn from your example.

Sincerely

XXXXX

I spoke with a KAT Board member at the Crillion Ball of Knoxville, and he was very very curious about why I am hanging around KAT meetings. Look, in my opinion, KAT is the most influential department on people's lives that is overlooked by media. I intend to keep digging. If the bus don't work the people can't get too work. Think about it. Is it frustrating seeing other reporters get big headlines...not when I read emails like above. I know I am digging in the right direction :)

OK, I kinda feel compelled to blog about this because so many people are leaving the media world in Knoxville for a government position. First off the media is not dead. In fact in this past year my paper has grown in circulation and advertisement as everyone can see. But hey I can see why people want to work for government. What I do is not a job. It is a 24/7 365 lifestyle and to be honest I would not have it any other way. When I was a young cub reporter fresh out of college, a true New Yorker paparazzi guy took me under his wings and I dreamed of the day when I would be covering politics and covering entertainment. Well, ironically when it comes to media row at government meetings I am the second longest tenured member of media row behind Hubert Smith. If Betty Bean takes over for LVG I will be the third longest serving governmental reporter in Knox County at commission meetings.
When it comes to entertainment,I am a member of the Grammy's, The Academy of Country Music, and the Country Music Association. I am a proud part of Nashville Hootenanny. When it comes to sports, I got press access for everything from Atlanta Braves games to UT football sideline to bull riding events.

Look, there might come day when I get burned out and join the dark forces of evil. But it ain't happening anytime soon. Now is an amazing dynamic time to be in the news industry. If you put the right product out and give the public what they actually want they will respond favorably. Yes I feel blessed to be working full time in a struggling industry. But to read reports that people don't know if media will be around but government will. I disagree.
Look I live and die on the following quote "government officials get voted on every 2,4, or 6 years... I get voted on every Monday morning when my paper comes out." If people leave my paper in the rack and don't pick it up, I am screwing up...if I walk by a rack and it is empty I am doing something right. It is really that simple. I find it mind blowing in this industry when certain places are laying off and falling apart and yet they keep the same team leadership in place.
The media is not dead, the good ones are growing and being in the field is awesome. It is not a 9-5 job. But it is very rewarding and definitely worth the sacrifices!

Chief Graham was always very friendly and extremely professional. She would always say hi and ask me how things were going. She always had an open door policy with the media. She will be missed.

What an amazing night yesterday at the Cotton Eyed Joe. Casey James was the top billed performance of the night. Casey was a contestant on the popular TV show American Idol during its ninth season. He made it all the way to the Top three before being eliminated on May 19, 2010. Hot new star and 2012 Grammy award nominated singer/writer Andy Gibson rocked the house. Plus Glen Templeton performed in a benefit concert. Admission was just five dollars. All proceeds went to help Savannah, the daughter of Keith Burns, who has lukemia. Keith is formerly with "Trick Pony" and a great friend to the music industry in Knoxville. I have met Keith a number of times at shows and I can say he is one of the nicest men I ever met!
The show was amazing and a great night for all those that attended!

I looked around at a media event the other day and saw literally not one tv reporter that I know. People come and go so quickly in this market that it almost doesn't make sense to get to know their names. Print media is different. We are a pretty stable crew.

As for the commission meeting. I was beyond shocked when I saw the applicants for the Judicial position. Basically the job is part time and pays like $65,000.00 a year with medical, and is a great job. It has a lot of responsibilities such as signing search warrants in the middle of the night. The applicants were given three minutes to give a presentation in front of the county commission. I was scared when I saw some lawyers wearing sweat pants to the interview process. Scary!

Now this is legit, what happens is when when the 27 seat plane reaches a certain number it flys. So, I was thinking, will this make more people think about running for office in Nashville now that they don't have to drive 3 hours?

Since I had plenty of photos of the parade I decided to take John Duncan 3rd up on his offer to follow him to the TV station. John, who is open, honest, and transparent in dealing with the Trustees Office always gives the media open access. Once their we did an impromptu photo shoot. Jennifer looked so natural behind the desk at the TV station I joked to myself "if one more person quits WVLT to go work in government Jennifer can become the TV Anchor at channel 8!"
On a side note with her amazing fashion sense she should have her own segment on a local tv station. That would be way cooler then watching the weather forecast for the 3rd time in 30 minutes. Sidenote...really local news stations stop giving weather forecasts every ten minutes. I can look at my cell phone for weather
Well, then the show got down to business. The callers were ringing the phones off the hook speaking on a wide range of topics from racism to County City Building parking to satellite offices. The racism and discrimination conversation came about when a caller mentioned how JD#3's grandfather was a strong supporter of racial equality and kept Knoxville very peaceful and helped speed integration in Knoxville. Hubert pointed out that in Memphis and in Nashville they were having violent clashes while Knoxville was pretty much peaceful.

It was a great time at the TV show and who knows...maybe if this political thing doesn't work out for JD#3 he can become a TV anchor!

OK so you see your favorite band with killer numbers and you wonder how the heck did they do that? Or you see a horrible band and well think how the heck did they get over 100,000 views. Well, their is an ugly secret going around in the underground. you can buy thousands of followers and thousands of views I am talking tens of thousands of views dirt cheap. Heck, I am going to show you how to create a bot that does it for free! Click here for a service that does this. I do not endorse this company or method or not endorse it I simply googled it and am using it to show pricing and how it is done This is so underground that many of the mainstream record labels are not even doing this. As I noted before I am going to go one step forward and show you how to do it for free Simply use a "youtube bot" go with about 250 hits a day so you don't trip any red flags and bam your an overnight sensation. So when you see some artists with huge hits now you know why. Now, this isn't to say some people are using advantages to compete competitively a video on that info is here

OK, so I went down to Knox Area Rescue Mission and never actually went into the Chapel where the lunch was being served. Call me strange but I didn't want to disturb people eating. I got photos of US Cellular employees doing a good deed and donating free phone calls. Well this nice couple came up to me and asked me to take their picture outside the building. I started talking to them and one thing led to another and I could tell they wanted to be heard and get there story out. So I made them a deal. I would pay them for their story since they wanted to go on camera. They were so excited. You know, I interview famous movie stars, lots of country stars, interesting politicians and yet the most fascinating interviews I have are with the people who are relatively unknown but have an amazing story. I was amazed at how positive this homeless couple is when dealing with their adversity. I know some people might not think it is the safest thing to do going across from the K.A.R.M safe area, but dammit there are reporters being shot at in Egypt as I write this. The least I can do as a dedicated journalist is help people get their story out.

OK, it happens all the time you see a sweet empty parking spot....you drop a quarter in the parking meter and realize the meter is broken...so what to do. Normally you pull out and lose the quarter. Well no more! What you need to do is call 311 report the meter number, then 311 gives you a reference number and if you get a ticket you mail in the reference number. It is important to do this as soon as you park so the time of the call is before the ticket! I saw Dean Rice get his quarter taken without credit and I guided him through the process!

‎"At least one reporter who gained access to the convention center was escorted out of the building by a security guard." http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/nov/17/romney-meets-privately-with-backers-in-knoxville/
yes I can confirm that was me the reporter that was escorted by security outside of the building. I would like to personally thank my fellow colleagues at the News Sentinel for including this occurrence with security in their paper while I work for a different newspaper it's good to know that reporters have each other's back.

What happened was I walked up to the area with my press pass did not try to gain access to the room but waited outside the room in a government-funded taxpayer supported convention center hallway. The security guards walked up to me told me I was not allowed in the building and would have to go outside and wait for the other members of the press. they then escorted me out of the building following me all the way out.

I went outside and waited for an hour, along with other members of the press we got no response, from Romney's clueless staff. So the event organizers told the media we had to go outside and should wait at the designated location and then they did nothing!

I will continue to fight for the First Amendment rights. Once again as you see I did not escalate the situation, I simply walked away took notes and let the public know the secrecy of what is going on. I take it word "press" very seriously. It means just that. My job is to press government officials for answers and to show what is happening with taxpayer dollars.

on a personal note, if the Romney team is going to run this country the same way they ran today's event... Then we as a nation are totally screwed!

David Nail rocks the "Tin Roof" on the Cumberland strip.
Mr. Nail held his CD release party last night at the Tin Roof on the strip last night to a jam packed and rocking crowd of over 440 people. Each person in attendance for the show which cost $5.00 received a CD of David Nail's. The crowd was vibrant and energetic. The only drawback to the show is David played so long that he didn't really sign a lot of autographs. Again, this is because he played such a long set list. His staff and the Tin Roof were very media friendly.

Tonight Mark Padgett had his "Rock the Vote Round the clock" event. As a journalist I followed the tour from 9pm to 2am. All was fine till 1am when Padgett visited the E911 center.
Officially, according to the Padgett website it was "--1:00am – Visit Bo Bennett and tour 911 Dispatch Office (605 Bernard Avenue)"

So at 1:18am *this is because Padgett was running a little late from the waffle house stop. I text Mr. Padgett's PR person Laura Braden "how do you get through gate" she responds at 1:20 AM "Bo is asking permission for media to come in give me one second..." I respond immediately "k" at 1:26 AM Ms. Braden responds "they're saying no-so sorry! will be out of here soon."
At 1:29 AM I respond "ok"
at 1:55 AM Laura Braden text messages me "are you taking pics? they said a guy was across the street taking pics :)"
I immediately responded " yes, I took one"
at 1:56 AM Laura Braden responds ":) there watching you on their cameras. You would love this place!!
at 1:57 AM I respond "will be blogging and sending it to Grider."
she immediately respond ":)"
at 1:58 AM I respond "I'm out"
and that was the end of our text message conversation.

please note, I was parked in an empty parking lot across the street and we now see at E 911, it appears they pay people to watch cameras of somebody literally across the street.

As I have recently written at my other blog the job of a journalist is to get the news. Get the story, but by all means, avoid escalating a conflict. I find it weird that E911 would let in a campaign entourage in the early morning and literally ban the media from observing. you might ask why didn't I call 911? . To be honest this was not an emergency and it would be pretty weird to call 911 about 911!

Later on today. I will speak with my publisher to decide what action to take. As a journalist I simply asked the question why would E911 not allow a credentialed journalist to observe a publicly noted and scheduled event? I have many other questions but at this time. It is late and I need some sleep because I have to be up in six hours.

Yours truly,
Daniel Andrews

Consider this closure for me. The main reason why I need to end this blog is because I have to choose my battles. I can battle Parkingsons or politics. I can't do both. A while back I stated I would seek the bench warmer Senate seat. Sadly, as I approach phase #2 of Parkingson's I have realized that goal is unrealistic. I realize that at this point the Parkingson's appears to be accelerating. The 6th district needs someone who can worry about the community and not there health all day long. Plus, I take naps in the day now (that sucks doesn't it) and I know I would be taking naps during boring speeches.

My original goal was to have this awesome successful blog that would cover my rising medical bills. Ooops, that didn't happen. With time gas and energy the reverse was happening. This blog was actually costing me money. The thing with Parkingson's is the medical bills don't go down. My pipe dream was I could cover politics and save my life. Ha, ya unrealistic now that I look back on it but hey it was worth the shot.

Blogs piss people off and I realize that in 2-3 years I will probably be a vegetable. The last thing I need is to die a lonely vegetable because of some blog. Little by little everyday I lose a little more flexibility and I shake a little more. Sadly, it ain't getting better it is only getting worse. At my last neurologist appointment the doctor pointed out how I was losing flexibility. So I started thinking, if I spent an hour to two hours a night less blogging n instead do yoga. Maybe I can prolong this curse.
That was last week. This week I started to realize all the things the doctor pointed out to me. Last night as I was shaking in my bed cause the meds wore off I realized how right the doc was.

My guess, is it is true Parkingson's is an unknown time table however. Parkingson's takes a hell of a lot out of a person. Financially, let me say this, I love when docs go 'we got this great new drug that is 600 a month...' Well I'm like, 'we got this great new problem I ain't got 600 a month.'

Remember I got Blue Cross, however, I really see how Obamacare is soo right.

Parkingson's drains you mentally, physically, financially and emotionally. To give you insight I used to type like 100 words a minute. Now I am down to 10 and use a voice dictation system.

A mile jog feels like a ten mile run. But it is what it is. Things I never thought of doing like for example having people right me out of their wills. I told my parents it makes no sense writing me in your will if the money is going to go to a nursing home or a bankruptcy court in 5 years. I have virtually nothing so if anyone tries to sue me for medical bills or nursing home bills whatever they will be able to take nothing. I intend to keep it that way.Until their is a cure. I ain't stupid.

On a positive note, the money I made off this blog will allow me to do one thing I been really really wanting to do. Join the http://www.michaeljfox.org/ It means so much to me

Thats how one must think. I'm off, gotta go do some Yoga.

Thank you.

In finis,
Basically, the stress of running a blog and pissing people off isn't worth the trade off. Stress is not good for Parkingsons. I now have to concentrate less on blogging and more on my health. I made like a total of 150 bucks over 6 months. But it is time to concentrate more on photography and less on blogging. Plus we got mike donilla with his kick ass blog! I'm out!
