With Super Tuesday just around the corner, some pet enthusiasts are hitting the campaign trail to encourage voter participation. Dogs, cats, and their owners now have a vehicle to show their party preference thanks to Political Party Pets. This website offers pet-friendly political gear including “Repuppycan” and “Democat” t-shirts, food bowls, buttons and bandanas. Owners can also jump on the bandwagon by purchasing bumper stickers, magnets, lawn signs and other accessories. This organization is working to make politics fun and to give pet owners a way of expressing their political affiliations.

In addition to selling merchandise, Political Party Pets even has a link to the “Pets Choice Presidential Primary”, which invites voters to Bark for Barack, Howl for Hillary, Fetch for Fred or Hiss for Hucakbee.

Move over bumper stickers. Our four-legged friends are poised for campaign politics. Political Party Pets, a website that is the brainchild of Ardsley resident Lisa Solomon, lets canines wear their affiliation on their sleeves.

So begins “Clothing Line Caters to 4-Legged Partisans,” an article that appeared in the December 28, 2007 edition of the Rivertowns Enterprise, a weekly newspaper covering Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings and Irvington, New York.

The article, which described the products we offer and recounted the story behind Political Party Pets, was accompanied by a photo of Ellie and Louie modeling their Doggie Democrat and Repuppycan t-shirts, while I tried to get them to sit still long enough for the paper’s photographer to get a good shot.
