The first was by the rather brash, somewhat surly but often correct Christopher Hitchens on Slate. Com. In his typical sarcastic demeanor Hutchins explores the t prostitution of the Clinton’s political influence; how silly of us American voters to ever believe Hillary ran for the Senate for the job, it appears her presence in the Senate was critical for their personal monetary health. Believing she would soon be president, Hillary was forced to adjust, but fear not my friends; all is well with her appointment as Secretary of State.

Secondly, I ventured over to the Drudge Report and I must confess was dumbfounded by the picture peering before me on my computer screen. I do confess myself often gullible, but today the hopes of a safer world were shattered. It appears that
Iran, in fact does despise the
United States. Yes, my friends, it is not just the hatred of George W. Bush driving them. Truly a sad day as I had believed on January 19 the world would come together as one, under the blanket of love in a cuddle fest, seeking to put behind them the memory of President Bush. It appears this will not be the case.

Power as defined by Webster; possession, authority or influence over others. In today’s contemporary political world, this too is the definition of successful politician.

Power is the opium that inflicts
Washington D.C., engulfing, controlling and suffocating those that reside inside the realms of the nation’s capital. It has taken away the purpose of the political process so well defined by the likes of Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and George Washington.

Today’s political arena is a den of death for the naïve politician, who so gleefully enters hoping to do right. They soon learn that all actions, words, thoughts and people are focused on power, getting it, building and maintaining power engulfs their every awaking moment; it is there tonic of life and it is the tonic the Founding Fathers so desperately hoped to keep out of the American political process.

In their wisdom and understanding of the addiction of power our Founding Fathers established the checks and balance process, spoke obsessively of ensuring there was no real center of power, but instead an equal distribution of power to the states. This would ensure the American people were able to control their government by controlling the state or local government.

But today the tonic flows freely through
Washington, like ale in a
Boston pub, making drunkards of our politicians and clouding their every thought, turning from the logical thought process crucial to the thinking human, to the irrational thirst of searching for ways of injecting more.

This addiction is hidden from the American people, by yet another irrational drug; fear, distributed to the masses by the political parties.

Politicians cloud the ability of the voters to see such addiction with the injection of fear and the tool used are the parties. Declarations are made and received of baby murderers and cross burning racists. Such fear mongering keeps the people from understanding the real stalker of our American system; power. As the politician secures their standing in the capital with each electoral victory, they gain power and become the dangerous creature the Founding Fathers sought to avoid; the politician high on power, unable by a voting block engulfed with fear.

If we the people refuse the drug of fear, than perhaps someday the tonic of power will be taken away from the politician and the saving process of logic will regain control. Until that day happens, the American process will continue to be mired in the mud of corruption, producing with each passing election nothing more than the eventually destruction of the American system so wonderfully crafted all those years ago.

Is anyone really aware of what this government is doing? The spending of this body has become so bloated, so outrageous that it is only a matter of time before a crash rains down on us.

For instance, the spending for the highways in this nation was listed as nearly 42 billion dollars, yes billion. Yet after administration and other costs, the amount left over for the states to spend was 28 billion. This means 14 billion dollars was basically taken, sucked up, and distributed. This is a staggering number, yet the disturbing numbers continue. Eight billion dollars was not used for highways, so again a large piece of the pie was eaten by someone and all logical thinking individuals can fairly deducted who those someones might be.

The middle to upper-middle class is the popular sympathy tool in every election, yet in the years in-between, we are nothing more than the feeders of the welfare recipients. Some are listed as being on public assistances and receive minor payments, while others are listed as contractors, consultants and corporations and making billions on the backs of the American people.

Is it any wonder that so many of these rich and powerful support higher taxes and larger government? After all the guilt of taking payment for little or no services provided can be a burdensome weight to carry.

Leon Pennetta has been named the CIA Chief, interesting move but one that is actually very logical.

One of George W. Bush’s biggest mistakes was not cleaning the shadow government the federal bureaucracies such as the CIA have become. As the years have progressed these bureaucracies have been shaped by the past presidents and it is critical for the new president to clean out the old, when their ideologies conflict. Failure to do so will result in a powerful branch of the government, seemingly under the control of the president, working to undercut the Commander and Chief instead of working with them.

The nomination of Lean Pennetta serves one purpose; to control or weed out those that might counter the ideology of Barack Obama. An experienced politician and former White House Chief of Staff, Pennetta is a master at the game and that is his one and sole purpose at the CIA, to play it and win it. Obama does not want a CIA that is constantly leaking actions someone deems wrong, such as the problem Bush faced with nearly every turn.

The nomination of Pennetta is a perfect move and one that will only benefit Obama in the future.

There is an interesting theory being tossed about concerning Vladimir Putin, Global Warming and energy.

When the old
Soviet Union dissolved a flood of papers hit the world, included in these papers was a theory that the world was not warming, as is the common thinking in the west, but in fact was cooling. So much so that these Soviet scientist felt a mini-ice age would be dawning on the world sometime around 2020. The KGB of course was full aware of this study, which Putin was a high ranking member. Along with this was the belief that a minor ice age would produce a higher need for energy from
Europe, which the
Soviet Union could provide.

So the thinking went that the Soviets could take control of the world, not via weapons or war, but by energy. Following the breakup of the Union Russia lost one of the main players in this thinking;
Georgia. With the pipeline running through it and the ports to the world,
Georgia was/is crucial to the Russian energy supply reaching the world. So what happened last year? Putin invaded
Georgia, moving quickly and with a firm arm taking control of the pipeline.

To tie this up, the west would be wise to investigate the old Soviet thinking of controlling
Europe via oil, because of Putin. Clearly he knew about and perhaps supported this line of thinking in the days of the
Union and why would it changed now? Vladimir Putin was once seen as a friend of the west, but such theories as this and the evidence that supports he is attempting to implement it are clearly counter.
Russia and Putin are just another player in a world that is because increasingly dangerous at every turn.

First let me say sorry I am sorry I have been away so long, but I wanted to spend the Christmas break with my kids. But, now I am back and looking for the big stories; of course the best is Gov. Blago and his antics.

This is a huge headache for the Democrats and of course Barack Obama. Let’s face it, Obama’s involvement is minimal, but his problem is he is now the Democratic Party and is first step will be to get rid of his home state’s nutty governor; not what he envisioned when constantly repeated “Yes We Can,”.

Blago has stunningly seated the vacant Senate positions, despite the fact he is facing impeachment and could be tossed from the governorship. The problem is what do they really have on him other than talking about selling the positions? This of course leads to the question why did U.S. Attorney Fitzgerald shutdown the case, before locking up solid evidence? Also, is Rahm Emanuel coming into the Chief of Staff positions weakened by the scandal?

All of these questions will start playing out, but the one known is that Obama is walking into a mess, one of his own party and state’s making.

There really is not much going on in the political world, because of the holidays. I for one love this time of year. First, the politicians are off the television (ha ha ha), but second because Christmas is truly a wonderful time of the year.

If people take a few moments to step back, the magic of the moment is easily absorbed. It is a time to embrace one’s family, engulf the magic of children and feel the joy of people smiling, laughing and putting aside their differences, even in war.

I once heard a story from WWII where a group of American soldiers were lost in the haze of the
Battle of the Bulge. They stumbled across a small country home, where the residents took them in. A few hours late some German soldiers also lost, were welcomed into the home. Although enemies and trained to kill each other, the group of soldiers put their difference away for at least one night. Together they sat and enjoyed a Christmas Eve night. The next day they went their separate ways and back to battle.

This is the wonders of Christmas, a time when even adversaries of war can lay down their weapons, if only for a few hours.

Happy Holidays everyone.

So Caroline Kennedy wants to be the next Senator from
New York. Okay let me get this straight. Sarah Palin wasn’t qualified or ready to be vice president, but Caroline Kennedy is qualified to be a senator or Palin was qualified to be vice president, but Kennedy is not qualified to be a senator. The argument goes around and around as the people of
New York wait for someone to be appointed. For the Democrats Kennedy gives them a guaranteed seat for however long Kennedy wishes to remain. For Chuck Schumer, he again becomes the most powerful Senator from
New York, without having Hillary lurking over him.

Speaking of Hillary, I heard they had something like 200,000 foreign donors to their library, most coming from Saudia Arabia. But, wait again I am confused as I thought George W. Bush was the oil puppet president. Seems we now have an idea as to why Hillary took the Secretary of State job; she has a lot of promises to fill, after all when those donations were given most thought she would be the next president, until Barack Obama spoiled the party.

Oh the life of politics, seeing the games played and the millions upon millions at risk, it is no wonder they all desire the end of Blago; he could have ruined it for everyone.
