</ br>

As Florida headed toward multiple recounts, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., went on a Twitter tear directed at Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes. Rubio took aim at the supervisor in one of Florida’s blue bastions as the county was still tabulating ballots more than 40 hours after the polls closed. Big races for U.S. Senate, governor and state agriculture commissioner hung in the balance. "#Broward elections department has a history of violating the law," Rubio tweeted Nov. 8, linking to Politico articles about two lawsuits filed against the office since 2016. Hours later, there was ...
>> More

Marco Rubio - Marco Rubio wrong about Andrew Gillum's response to 2016 hurricane in Tallahassee

The Truth-o-Meter says: False | Marco Rubio wrong about Andrew Gillum's response to 2016 hurricane in Tallahassee
</ br>

As northern Florida recovers from Hurricane Michael, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., portrayed Democrat Andrew Gillum as ineffective in helping his city of Tallahassee recover from a hurricane in 2016. Rubio leveled his charges in front of a group of supporters of Gillum’s rival for governor, Republican Ron DeSantis, in West Miami on Oct. 15. "When they had a hurricane up there, they didn’t have power for weeks because he stood in the way of crews being able to come in and restore power, because they weren’t members of the right union or something," Politico reported Rubio as saying. ...
>> More

Marco Rubio - Marco Rubio wrong on states not spending on voting security

The Truth-o-Meter says: Mostly False | Marco Rubio wrong on states not spending on voting security
</ br>

Against the backdrop of Russian election meddling, Senate Democrats came up empty-handed in their effort to pump an additional $250 million into election security money for states. The vote was 50-47 in favor, but they needed 60 to bring the measure to the floor. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., voted against it. When asked why, he emphasized that Washington just sent the states $380 million a few months ago. "The money we've already appropriated is money that was based on professional assessment of what the needs were from a national level," Rubio told CBS News Aug. 2. "If an additional ...
>> More

Marco Rubio - Rubio's tweet about NY gun law is accurate

The Truth-o-Meter says: True | Rubio's tweet about NY gun law is accurate
</ br>

Sen. Marco Rubio took aim at one provision of a gun law passed in New York state that he suggests can be easily circumvented. The Florida Republican posted a photo of two semi-automatic rifles. Both rifles almost look the same. But one has a pistol grip attached, so it is not legal in New York state, Rubio said. "Under N.Y. State ‘Assault Weapon’ ban 1 simple cosmetic change pictured here is difference between legal & banned," Rubio’s tweet read. Not quite
</ br>

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has worked to persuade Republican leaders to expand the child tax credit so the tax overhaul benefits more working families. To do this, Rubio said he wants to make the credit refundable against payroll taxes. The Republican tax framework proposes increasing the credit from the current amount of $1,000 and raising the current income threshold at which the credit phases out, but does not include plans to make it refundable against payroll taxes. This means it only affects families with a federal income tax liability, but a good chunk of people don’t pay income taxes because ...
>> More

Marco Rubio - Rubio says child tax credit is key in amount of tax relief working families receive

The Truth-o-Meter says: Mostly True | Rubio says child tax credit is key in amount of tax relief working families receive
</ br>

The Trump administration and Senate and House leaders have revealed a framework for tax legislation that proposes tax cuts for business, a reduction in tax brackets, and the elimination of several tax breaks. What the plan means for Americans remains to be determined. But Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., recently said that the amount of tax relief working families receive under the plan is entirely dependent on one thing: what happens to the child tax credit. "The child tax credit, if we don't do it, there will be no tax relief for working families," Rubio said on WFLA on Oct. 15. ...
>> More

Marco Rubio - Marco Rubio says Florida mandates coverage of more conditions than Obamacare

The Truth-o-Meter says: Mostly False | Marco Rubio says Florida mandates coverage of more conditions than Obamacare
</ br>

Republicans attempting to repeal the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, have been met with concerns about whether health insurance will still offer comprehensive coverage under new rules. But U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio says Florida law mandates that insurers cover more essential health benefits than the federal law. "In Florida, essential health benefits aren't just what the federal government requires, it is what state law requires," Rubio said on Facebook Live July 20. Then he continued "under state law, in order to sell insurance in Florida, there are over 40 separate individual conditions that must be covered.
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., says reports that Floridians will be kicked off of Medicaid under the Senate health care bill are misleading. "As long as Florida keeps the same amount of funding or gets an increase, which is what we are working on, per patient being rewarded for having done the right thing -- there is no reason for anybody to be losing any of their current benefits under Medicaid. </ br>

It was "the right move" for President Donald Trump to launch airstrikes in Syria in retaliation for a chemical weapons attack, said Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., on CNN April 7. But almost four years ago, Rubio opposed President Barack Obama’s plan to order airstrikes in Syria, also after dictator Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons against his people. Rubio explained why 2017 is different than 2013 on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos. "Here's the first thing that's changed from 2013 to now: The Russians are now there," Rubio said in an April 9 interview. "Assad was losing back in 2013. ...
>> More

Marco Rubio - Marco Rubio says majority of Florida undocumented immigrants overstayed visas

The Truth-o-Meter says: Mostly True | Marco Rubio says majority of Florida undocumented immigrants overstayed visas

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio supports President Donald Trump’s promise to build a wall at the Mexican border but says it won’t address the main path that undocumented immigrants use to arrive in Florida. "In Florida, 70 percent of the people here illegally came on an airplane," Rubio, a Florida Republican, told reporters while visiting growers in Immokalee Jan. 27. "They overstayed a visa -- the wall isn't going to address that." Rubio, who along with Trump advocated for implementing a system to track visa overstays, is one of many politicians to raise concerns about immigrants overstaying ...
>> More
