This has been a difficult and heart wrenching time for our family.  Fighting cancer is a difficult trial to go through and to watch a loved one suffer with. I have been helping my mom daily with her doctor visits, surgeries, chemo treatments and radiation. I have been trying to balance Polka Dot Cactus Photography with caring for mom.

The time has come to make a choice.  I need to stop and fight this cancer. I have made the heart wrenching decision to close down Polka Dot Cactus to put my whole focus on caring for my beautiful mom.  I would love to thank all of my clients who have become like family. I have loved watching your families grow and still want to hear all of the fun details of your lives.

I will be using the Polka Dot Cactus blog to post personal photos and fun things that I find. Check back in and say hi.  I would recommend Darby Elizabeth Photography if you would like a great photographer for your kiddos. I have used her for my own family photos and can’t recommend Darby enough. She is AMAZING!!

It was a fight every night after baths.  A few months ago while we were at the salon getting her hair cut, I spotted the Knot Genie.  It is a brush made to go smoothly through tangles without tears. The box touted the “ability to get rid of knots without complaining”.  I couldn’t resist. I had to buy one.  I let Emma pick out her favorite color, which was purple that day, and we were on our way. After bathtime, I used the Knot Genie and it was AMAZING!! I went out and bought 2 more for my nieces.  This is my new favorite gift to give for birthdays.  I want to share with all of my blog readers so I am having a little giveaway. “Like” this post to enter. My kiddos got to try out these cool toys recently. The packages were sitting on my desk, waiting for the right time to photograph them. They begged and begged to open the package and play with the Fireflyz.  When mom finally got it together and let them play..they were ecstatic.  The Fyrflyz is a super fancy LED light on strings that you can spin and make really awesome designs in the dark….think 4th of July sparklers that are not on fire and last forever.   My kids have been playing with these for the past week.  My 8 year old nephew has been begging me to let him take the Fyrflyz home with to play with. Guess what the nephews are going to be getting for their birthdays this year…lol.   The kids have been taking the Fyrflyz with us to the baseball fields and keeping themselves entertained while big brother plays his games. I’m going to have to pick up a few more for the 4th of July. These would be great for our annual BBQ and firework show.  You can get the Fyrflyz at Toys R Us.  There are lots of videos on their facebook page here.  They are giving away some more of these toys too. just check out the Facebook page for the details.  This mom gives the Fyrflyz 2 thumbs up.
