En México decimos que "no tiene madre" quien abusa de algo... pero acá pareciera que esta chica tiene... y mucha, porque es ex-cuñada de Enrique Peña Nieto.

Aristegui Noticias presenta nota en la que se muestra investigación de sobrina de Peña Nieto y el trabajo que "encontró" en PEMEX a escasos meses de haberse graduado como licenciada en Mercadotecnia. Mientras tanto, otros tenemos que hacer maestrías, doctorados y muchos años de experiencia para conseguir trabajos temporales.

Vaya que vivimos en el país del nepotismo y la corrupción. - El sábado 6 de diciembre el pueblo de México dará muestra una vez más de su rabia y rebeldía cercando la ciudad de México de manera simbólica. Miles de personas, tomaran las entradas a la ciudad, la Casa Presidencial (Residencia de los Pinos), la Cámara de diputados, el Congreso y vías públicas. Desde Argentina no podemos menos que acompañar su valentía. Les invitamos a concentrarnos en el asta bandera del Parque Centenario a las 5.30. con velas. Se les pide ir de negro, pañuelo rojo y flores rojas.

-Los convocamos también a la próxima reunión para seguir coordinando actividades el martes 9 en Aguirre 29, Bar La Dignidad. 7 pm. Ahí presentaremos nuestras propuestas de actividades para los meses siguientes y escucharemos las propuestas que amablemente nos acerquen los asistentes. La Asamblea de Mexicanxs en Argentina, junto con decenas de organizaciones sociales marcho del Obelisco a Cancillería el 1 de diciembre para exigir al gobierno argentino que rompa el silencio sobre las graves y sistemáticas violaciones a DDHH que comete el Estado Mexicano contra su población. La marcha fue en el marco de las inmensas movilizaciones que se realizaron en México con motivo del segundo informe de gobierno de Enrique Peña Nieto.

Al llegar a cancillería una comisión integrada por donde una comisión integrada entre otros por José Peralta Secretario General de CTA capital, el periodista y defensor de los derechos humanos Herman Schiller y Diana Kordon y Lucila Edelman del Equipo Argentino de Trabajo e Investigación Psicosocial y una integrante de la Asamblea de Mexicanxs... ingresaron a la sede de Relaciones Exteriores para entregar la carta dirigida al Canciller Timerman, suscripta por un gran número de organizaciones y personas a título individual. La comisión fue recibida por una funcionaria del Área de Derechos Humanos quién dijo que iba a hacerle llegar la misiva a las autoridades correspondientes. La comisión aclaró que quedarán pendientes de la respuesta. Como Asamblea de Mexicanxs en Argentina agradecemos la solidaridad de las organizaciones sociales, de base, de DDHH y políticas que nos han acompañado y que levantan su indignación y su grito de Verdad y Justicia junto con nosotrxs.

Te lo digo a ti mi hija...y escúchalo tú mi nuera". Al menos eso es lo que dice el dicho: lo que vemos en Brasil y sus protestas frente al mundial puede ser visto de muchas formas. Monreal dice que es una advertencia hacia el futuro: que el futbol, antes usado como herramienta populista y de control mediático se convierte ahora en una arena de debate y que no se les ocurra a los mexicanos pedir el mundial para el 2024 o algo por el estilo.

Otros podríamos pensar que también es una reminiscencia del pasado: lo vivió Díaz Ordaz en el 68 y ya entonces se había aprovechado la mirada internacional para denunciar las terribles condiciones sociales del país.

La pregunta es ¿qué cambió? México parece haber olvidado pronto el 68, pues en 71 vino el Halconazo y la historia de represión e impunidad no termina. Si no lo creen, pregúntenle al relator de la ONU que recién presentó su análisis de la situación de nuestra nación.

Brasil tiene algunos cambios y es ahora un fuerte integrante de los BRICS, pero no por eso han cambiado mucho las condiciones de la calle: inseguridad, racismo y violencia se establecen una vez que la luz del día da paso al alumbrado público (cuando existe). ¿Una de las primeras 5 economías? Tal vez, pero no uno de los ejemplos de justicia e igualdad.

Nuestra América Latina, el perro que se muerde la cola y se enorgullece de haber atrapado una pulga, mientras otra decena continúa sacándole sangre y contaminándolo; acusaciones que forman parte de la retórica, sí, tristemente también de nuestra izquierda culta del sur.

Hoy aparece en ADN político una galería de fotografías de la niñez de los ministros y el tal Peña Nieto (además de otros de sus colaboradores).

Siempre en sociología nos insisten en ir más al fondo de las cosas, ¿no es cierto? Bueno, pues precisamente esa es la pregunta: ¿Cuál es la idea de subir fotos de la niñez de estos que hoy son el verdugo del pueblo?

-Decir que todos somos iguales?

-Hacernos pensar que tuvieron niñeces felices?

-Mostrar su "normalidad"?

Desde mi punto de vista, no es otra cosa sino la vacuidad de la presidencia que, a falta de mejores elementos que mostrar, simplemente nos aplica la estrategia Televisa: pan y circo.

Ayer salió una nota que tal vez pase desapercibida. Un colectivo que trabaja sobre la democratización de los medios hizo llegar una carta en la que explica cuáles son -desde su punto de vista- los aspectos centrales que deberían discutirse ahora que se tienen leyes secundarias sobre Telecomunicaciones.

Sin duda importante en estos tiempos en los que nos dicen lo que quieran para que pensemos lo que ellos necesitan. Como podrás leer en el documento, estamos muy lejos de tener leyes que funcionen de la manera óptima y más bien, seguimos a merced de los monopolios y el poder que encubren.

Una nota de ADN político describe quiénes son los encargados de la nuevísima comisión que revisará los entuertos de Oceanografía, una de las puntas del iceberg de la corrupción en PEMEX: Ex-colaboradores de Calderón, Chuchos, Verdes y Priístas de viejo cuño, entre los que se incluye la extitular de la Fiscalía Especializada para la Investigación de Delitos Electorales (Fepade) de la Procuraduría General de la República (PGR), durante las gestiones de Eduardo Medina Mora y Arturo Chávez Chávez. Fue colaboradora de Mariano Azuela Güitrón en el tiempo en el que fungió como ministro presidente de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación (SCJN). Es hermana de Bernardo Gómez, vicepresidente Ejecutivo de Televisa, y de Leopoldo Gómez, vicepresidente de Noticias de la misma televisora.

¿Puede Obama ver el Gran Cañón?

Pues sí, esta nota que estaba en mi buzón de pendientes desde 2008 se quedó ahí porque quería ver cómo el tiempo pasaba sobre una información y opinión. Es un artículo excelente en el que Mike Davis relata la llegada de Obama a la presidencia y se pregunta si éste será capaz de comprender los problemas de USA y hacer algo al respecto o simplemente quedarse pasmado como lo hicieron los primeros exploradores que se encontraron con el Gran Cañón.

La respuesta, me parece, es que el mundo cambia, pero a un paso mucho más lento de lo que nos imaginamos: creo que Obama vio el cañón, se pasmó, lo entendió y al mismo instante se dio cuenta de que era mucho lo que se esperaba de él. El capitalismo continúa (sorry Mike) y efectivamente el presidente 32 no pudo hacer mucho para controlar lo que pasa en su país, mientras en efecto, los menos favorecidos pierden poder. Rico para leer en una tardecita de sábado y pensar si nosotros, en México, somos capaces de ver el Gran Cañón.

"The Samson Complex"

In the Bible there is a famous story of Samson, who is a hero. There are many interpretations of the meaning of the tale in which Samson, an Israelite, and someone of God-granted strength, pulls down the temple of the (also very strong) enemy Philistines, dying himself in the process. I take it to mean that an act which seems irrational (Samson dies in the process) is both heroic and quite sensible in that it becomes the way (possibly the only way) in which the strong enemy is defeated and his "people" saved

We seem to have a lot of putative Samsons these days, who are blocking or seeking to block what they consider to be dangerous "compromises" with the enemy. Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Prime Minister, is saying that a bad deal is worse than no deal. He is referring to what he sees as the U.S.-Russian agreement on Syria and the possible U.S.-Iranian accord. In Colombia, the former Conservative president is inveighing against the current Conservative president because he is negotiating with the guerilla organization known as FARC under the auspices of Cuba and Brazil.

And of course we have the massive non-negotiations going on in the United States, in which the Tea Party members of the U.S. Congress, especially in the House of Representatives, are using their strength to veto any compromise with the enemy forces they see to be led by President Obama and the Democratic Party in general, with the collusion of those they consider to be the enemy within, that is, all those Republicans who are calling for some sort of "compromise."

It is not hard to show that all these Samsons are pulling the house down, not only on the enemy but on themselves. For them, however, even if this is true, it is a matter of timing. They must do it now while they still have the strength to do it. Otherwise, the enemy will win and institutionalize or maintain the evils they see being committed.

This kind of so-called ideological struggle, impervious to so-called pragmatism, has not been invented in the last 10-20 years. It is as old as human socializing. But it takes on a special characteristic now, precisely because we are in the throes of a structural crisis in our capitalist world-system. In a structural crisis, we may expect there to be two massive phenomena - enormous intellectual confusion and, as a consequence, wild swings in sentiment, which in turn leads to even wilder swings.

As there are more and more groups ready to pull the temple down, even as they themselves are crushed, the people who are most confused and uncertain about what to do are the so-called Establishment. Gone are the days when they could cynically maneuver and get their way. No longer is it true that "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." Or, no apparent change is real; it's all window-dressing, a mere change in personnel.

So, what can we do, if we are searching for real change, a different kind of world-system from the one in which we have been living for at least the past 500 years? The first thing we should do is not get caught up in the debates and wild swings between the Samsons and the Establishments. It doesn't really matter which of them wins out in the short run.

The second thing we should do is not spend all our energy bemoaning the fact that those who want fundamental change (sometimes called the world left) do not seem to be unified, or clear in their objectives, or engaging in urgent organizing. The fact is that they are caught up in the confusion themselves, at least at the moment.

That the temple is crumbling is a reality far beyond our efforts to hold it up, even if we wanted to. But we are not required to stand under the downpour of rocks. We have to try to escape them. You may be assured that the most powerful members of the Establishment are trying to do so.

But how do we escape them, and to what end? Once again, I insist on a sense of timing, the difference between the short-run (three years or less) and the middle run (the next 20-40 years).

In the short run, people everywhere (the 99%) are suffering. We must struggle to minimize their pain, a struggle that can take multiple forms. It can be pressing for immediate legislation or executive decisions by state agencies that will aid immediately the underclasses, or prevent further damage to the environment, or safeguard the rights of indigenous peoples or so-called social minorities.

But in the middle run, we must try to clarify the nature of the structures we hope to institutionalize if we manage to tilt the bifurcation in our favor. We must try to understand not only the middle-run objectives of the world "right" but the nature of their profound internal splits. The so-called world left is profoundly split too. We must work to overcome this.

Nothing is easy in this time of transition from one world-system to another. But everything is possible - possible but far from certain.

"Global Turmoil in the Middle Run"

Making predictions in the short run (the coming year or two) is a fool's game. There are too many unpredictable twists and turns in the real political/economic/cultural world. But we can attempt to make plausible statements for the middle run (a decade or more) based on a workable theoretical framework combined with a solid empirical analysis of trends and constraints.

What do we know about the world-system in which we are living? First of all, we know that it is a capitalist world-economy, whose basic principle is the ceaseless accumulation of capital. Secondly, we know that it is an historical system, which like all systems (from the universe as a whole to the tiniest nano-systems) has a life. It comes into existence, it lives its "normal" life according to rules and structures it creates, and then at some point the system moves too far from equilibrium and enters into a structural crisis. Thirdly, we know that our present world-system has been a polarizing system, in which there has been a steadily increasing gap among states and within states.

We are in such a structural crisis right now, and have been for some forty years. We shall continue to be in it for another twenty to forty years. This is quite an average length of time for a structural crisis of a historical social system. What happens in a structural crisis is that the system bifurcates, which means essentially that there emerge two alternative ways of ending the structural crisis by "choosing" collectively one of the alternatives.

The principal characteristic of a structural crisis is a series of chaotic and wild fluctuations of everything - the markets, the geopolitical alliances, the stability of state boundaries, employment, debts, taxes. Uncertainty, even in the short run, becomes chronic. And uncertainty tends to freeze economic decision-making, which of course makes things worse.

Here are some of the things we can expect in the middle run. Most states are facing, and are going to continue to face, a squeeze between reduced income and increased expenditures. What most states have been doing is to reduce expenditures in two ways. One has been to cut into (even eliminate) a great many of the safety nets that have been constructed in the past to help ordinary people deal with the multiple contingencies they face. But there is a second way as well. Most states are cutting the money transfers to subordinate state entities - federated structures, if the state is a federation, and local governments. What this does is simply to transfer the need to increase taxes to these subordinate units. If they find this impossible, they can go bankrupt, which eliminates other parts of the safety nets (notably pensions).

This has an immediate impact on the states. On the one hand, it weakens them, as more and more units seek to secede if they think it economically advantageous. But on the other hand, the states are more important than ever, as the populations seek refuge in state protectionist policies (keep my jobs, not yours). State boundaries have always been changing. But they promise to change even more frequently now. At the same time, new regional structures linking together existing states (or their subunits) - such as the European Union (EU) and the new South American structure (UNASUR) - will continue to flourish and play an increasing geopolitical role.

The juggling between the multiple loci of geopolitical power will become ever more unstable in a situation in which none of these loci will be in a position to dictate the interstate rules. The United States is an erstwhile hegemonic power with feet of clay, but one still powerful enough to wreak damage by missteps. China seems to have the strongest emerging economic position, but it is less strong than it itself and others think. The degree to which western Europe and Russia will draw closer is still an open question, and is very much on the agenda of both sides. How India will play its cards is very much undecided by India. What this means for civil wars like that in Syria at the moment is that outside interveners cancel each other out and internal conflicts become ever more organized around fratricidal identity groups.

I shall reiterate my long-argued position. At the end of a decade, we shall see some major realignments. One is the creation of a confederal structure linking Japan, (a reunited) China, and (a reunited) Korea. The second is a geopolitical alliance between this confederal structure and the United States. A third is a de facto alliance between the EU and Russia. A fourth is nuclear proliferation on a significant scale. A fifth is generalized protectionism. The sixth is generalized world deflation, which can take one of two forms - either a nominal reduction in prices, or runaway inflations that have the same consequence.

Obviously, these are not happy outcomes for most people. World unemployment will rise, not fall. And ordinary people will feel the pinch very severely. They have already shown that they are ready to fight back in multiple forms, and this popular resistance will grow. We shall find ourselves in the midst of a vast political battle to determine the world's future.

Those who have wealth and privilege today will not sit idly by. However, it will become increasingly clear to them that they cannot secure their future through the existing capitalist system. They will seek to implement a system based not on a central role of the market but rather on a combination of brute force and deception. The key objective is to ensure that the new system would guarantee the continuation of three key features of the present system - hierarchy, exploitation, and polarization.

On the other side will be popular forces across the world who will seek to create a new kind of historical system, one that has never yet existed, one that is based on relative democracy and relative equality. What this means in terms of the institutions the world would create is almost impossible to foresee. We shall learn in the building of this system in the decades to come.

Who will win out in this battle? No-one can predict. It will be the result of an infinity of nano-actions by an infinity of nano-actors at an infinity of nano-moments. At some point, the tension between the two alternative solutions will tilt definitively in favor of one or the other. This is what gives us hope. What each of us does at each moment about each immediate issue matters. Some people call it the "butterfly effect." The fluttering of a butterfly's wings affects the climate at the other end of the world. In that sense, we are all little butterflies today.
