New Editor features!

Dear Polyvore Community,

We wanted to share a couple new features recently added to the Editor.

Templates: Move items between placeholders!

Now you can rearrange your items easily by dragging them from one placeholder to another. (Hint: You need to drag the item all the way "out" of the placeholder first, then drag it back over another spot to see it highlighted.) Plus, when you move an item into another occupied spot, it will swap the items so they're both still in the set. That way, you can play around with the layout and pick the best arrangement for the items you've chosen.

iPhone: Add text when creating sets on the iPhone!
We've made several updates to our iPhone app over the last few weeks, but in case you missed it, now you can add text in your choice of color and font when building sets in the Polyvore iPhone app! If you don't have the app yet, be sure to download it from the App Store.

We hope these changes will make your sets even better!

Removing Pinterest Quick Share Feature

Dear Polyvore Community,

We know that many of you love using Pinterest to share your style, and that you inspire many more people when they find and repin your sets. That's why we made it as easy as possible for you to pin all of your sets and likes from Polyvore.

However, this week Pinterest asked us to remove these features until they have an official API because sharing your Pinterest password and login with any other website is a security risk.

We respect Pinterest’s decision (we don’t want your accounts hacked either!), but unfortunately this means you will no longer be able to directly connect your Pinterest account.

You can still pin any set or item using the "Pin It" button or the bookmark in your browser.

We hope you'll follow us on Pinterest and keep pinning the great things you find and create here on Polyvore!

New: Discover Products Your Friends Like! by polyvore on Polyvore

On your Following page, you already see sets and collections from people you follow. Now you can also see the products and items they like too! You can easily like your friends' items to let them know you like their style!

In case you'd like to see just sets and collections created by those you follow, you can still use the Creations filter to see just that. You can use the Likes filter to see all the creations and the items your followers like.

We're continuing to improve this feature, and we welcome your feedback. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment here on the blog.

Site Down for Maintenance

Tell us your name, age, profession and anything you’d like to share.

My name is Jackie and I am 54 years old. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California and I’ve been in the Pharmaceutical Sales industry for the past 20 years. Before attending USC I actually attended a Fashion School (Bauder Fashion College – Miami, FL) and had big dreams of becoming the next top fashion designer until I realized how much it hated to sew! I still have a very strong creative side and over the years started making and selling my own jewelry. Now, I’ve found Polyvore which keeps me tapped into that design/stylist/creative side and I couldn’t be happier.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in the Los Angeles, CA area (right at the beach in Redondo Beach). One of the biggest fashion trends I’m seeing around LA lately are boyfriend jeans rolled up at the ankle with high heeled booties or pumps.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

Wow, where do I begin! There are so many that I love. I like the prints and patterns of Marni and Missoni. I love the conservative/preppy styles of Burberry and Tory Burch. I also like the casual and edgy looks from Acne and Rag & Bone.

Describe your personal sense of style.

I try to dress “age appropriate” but also like to show my figure. Just check out my “skinny jeans rock” collection and that is pretty much my style for casual wear. I also have a little bit of a preppy side. I own a lot of J.Crew pieces. When it comes to work wear, I’m pretty much a business pant suit kind of gal.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?

I really like Victoria Beckham’s style. She is petite and small framed (like myself) and just knows how to make it work for her body.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

I would love to travel to all of the beautiful and wonderful beaches throughout the world.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

It helps me stay tapped into my creative side along with keeping up with the latest fashion trends. I love the sense of community and the positive atmosphere we all share. Polyvore for me is kind of like a form of meditation. It doesn’t matter how grumpy I might feel at the end of a long day, just spending some time on Polyvore and I’m like new again.

Does you username have any special meaning?

Not really. I just wanted something kind of quirky and easy to remember.

How would you describe your set style?

I really like to get a sense of how an outfit would look as if it were on a person or mannequin, so I try to make my sets look like that. I usually include a simple phrase or line that has a positive meaning.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

That really depends on my work schedule but usually a couple times a day, first thing in the morning and again before bed. I sign on directly to my home page and look for the red number to check whether I need to respond to anyone. Next I go the top sets and do congratulations. Then I check the following-creations tab and look at the new sets of those I am following. Then finally I go to my drafts to see whether there is anything ready to publish or finish creating. Then I have to PULL myself away to get ready for the day!

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

Clipper and editing. Sometimes I can spend an hour just “shopping” for new items.

Closing the Style Advice/Ask Section

We care about you, the community, very much and that's why closing the Style Advice section was a hard decision for us, too. Ultimately, we decided this was the best for the whole Polyvore community. Please try to keep the Style Advice experience positive for everyone while the section is still open. Thanks again for your contribution and support.

Dear Polyvore Community,

We love that you are style gurus who generously share your tips on how to look great. You show us in your sets how to style awesome outfits, and you've showed us in the Style Advice, or Ask section.

Now it's time for us to ask you to concentrate all your amazing styling powers in your sets, comments and collections because sadly, we will be closing down the Style Advice/Ask section in January.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision. We reached it after realizing that we haven't been able to give that section of the site and its participants the attention or recognition they deserve. We've decided to spend our time really focusing on improving features that make a difference and that make Polyvore the best web and mobile experience it can be for you.

Any sets you have created for Style Advice answers will still appear on your profile, and any saved items will still appear in My Items. Your badges will also remain on your profile. However Style Advice/Ask will be phased out over the coming weeks.

After January 17, we will stop accepting new questions.
After January 31, the Style Advice/Ask section will no longer be available on the site.

We'd love to see your questions and expertise reach a larger audience on dedicated sites like Yahoo Answers or Quora. (If you know of another great style advice site, please let us and your fellow Polyvore members know!)

Tell us your name, age, profession and anything you’d like to share?

Hi Polyvore people! My name is Matea. I`m 22 years old and a full-time law student who is obsessed with fashion and cool clothes. I’m an easy going person who gets along well with everyone. I enjoy being around different types of people and I always like to challenge myself to improve at everything I do.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

This might sound weird, but currently I live at three different addresses, one in Zagreb, one in Sesvete and one in Garešnica. My family owns two apartments and a house so I`m constantly changing my place of residence. Fall trends in Croatia are ankle booties, long scarves, cardigans, skinny jeans, Timberland boots, Isabel Marant sneakers, hats and collar necklaces.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

Marni, Chloe and Proenza Schouler are my all-time favorite brands! But I'm also in love with my fashion icon Natasha Goldenberg's line, TzipporahNG. Marni always has cool and interesting prints, Chloe has elegant and sophisticated clothing, and Proenza Schouler great bags, clothes and accessories.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about his or her style?

Natasha Goldenberg is a major style icon of mine. I personally am a HUGE fan of this gorgeous Russian! I admire her taste, her style and her ability to dress in a fashionable and chic way. I love how she can go from loose fitting clothes in muted colors to tailored pieces in bright fabrics. Nickelson Wooster, the alpha male of American street style, also has great taste. His hair, cleanly trimmed mustache, neat beard and clothing give him a handsome look that demands respect.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

My biggest wish for a long time now has been to move to Iceland. I don't quite know when this obsession with Iceland started, but I do know I want to live there. With this unique destination that offers breathtaking landscape and a vibrant culture, who wouldn't like to live there? I decided to pursue a career in law so I hope one day, I will have the opportunity to improve the lives of others. But also I would like to travel more, learn to speak Portuguese and Russian, meet cool/interesting people and be a fashion stylist.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

I became more courageous and determined when it comes to combining and mixing different patterns and prints. I met great and really nice girls whose words and comments have meant the world to me. From day one, Polyvore became my imaginary closet with mega-fabulous clothes!

How would you describe your set style?

My sets have always been very colorful and little bit crazy! It`s all about different patterns, prints and colors mixed with cool accessories!

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

When I'm online, I'm always signed in! The first thing I do when I go on to Polyvore:

2. See and comment on my friends sets

3. If I feel inspired, make a new set

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

My favorite feature is the custom crop background and the ask section! I like the ask section because I like the idea of me as a stylist, helping Polygirls with their dilemmas about what to wear, how to style it, what goes together and what not. The custom crop background I like because I`m crazy about making dolls and changing simple clothes into something cool and different.

Describe your personal sense of style.

My style is very versatile and is very much based on how or what I feel. You can see me wearing almost everything. One day I`m all in black, the next day all in crazy prints and colors. I don`t like simple, minimalistic outfits. For me layering rules! Accessories are also very important to me. They make every outfit pop.

Anything else you would like us to know?

Polyvore and Poly people rule! You guys are doing an amazing job with the Polyvore site but I do have one request: MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS STAY COOL. Hehe!

Just in time for the holidays, we’re excited to announce some new additions to the editor that have been some of your top requests!

Here’s what’s new:

New ways to search your items by color and title

Looking for the pair of blue shorts you saved to your items? We’ve added a color filter to the “My Items” tab so you can now search your items by color. We’ve moved the link to the Organizer to make room for these new features, but you can still find it on the Activity page.

Load items from collections

Now you can load items directly from collections you’ve published or liked by clicking on the “Collections” tab in the editor. Please note you’ll only see items from collections (you won't see any sets).

Tell us your name, age, profession and anything you’d like to share.

My name is Minnie Romanovich, I'm in my thirties, with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. After graduating, I worked at an advertising agency as an illustrator and later a copy editor, but for the last few years I have been doing freelance work with my focus being on photography and children's book illustration. I love international travel, food, books, movies, perfume, jewelry, and fashion. Fall is my favorite season in terms of fashion, because I love wearing trench coats and berets, and accessorizing with silk scarves.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in Manhattan, and am passionately in love with my city. Knee-high boots, especially two-tone boots, are very much in right now. Oxblood or a deep crimson seems to be trending in terms of color. Leather jackets are currently more popular than the classic trench coats. Sheath dresses with embroidery are in almost every store. After the NY Fashion Week (fall/winter 2012), there has also been a revival of what would be termed as "grandmother's closet." A retro mix of prints and tweed coats, along with lace and shawls are making a comeback.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

Like most fashion-loving women, I have more than one favorite, and for more than one reason. Alexander McQueen definitely tops the list for me, in terms of avant-garde aesthetic. I think of that label as intellectually fashionable. I love the classic pieces of Hermés -- perfection with every stitch and seam. Burberry has been another favorite; they've proven time and time again that they're not just about the famous plaid anymore.

I like the prints and the draping of Diane Von Furstenberg, as well as the edgy sophistication of Helmut Lang or Zadig & Voltaire -- both of which emulate the "SoHo chic." J Crew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and White House Black Market are my other to-go stores for daily wear -- reliable in terms of good quality, and still stylish.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?

Anne Hathaway's easy elegance, Olivia Palermo's Euro-jetsetter style, Lucy Liu's chic and sleek styling (especially in the CBS show Elementary), and, of course, Kate Middleton's effortless sophistication are all elements I appreciate and find relatable.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

I have had some of my illustrations and photos published in magazines and periodicals, but my goal is to get picture books published. Writing and illustrating children's books has always been one of my aspirations and I have been focused on achieving that. Fashion is also something I'm keenly drawn to, and would love to work as a stylist or be on the design team of luxury boutiques/department stores. On personal levels, one of my aspirations is to find a bigger apartment in NYC, and start a family. Currently, it's just me and my husband, and our four-year old cat named Arianna. But in the near future, we'd like to expand our trio with a baby. Last but not the least, travel has taken a back seat in my life over the last year and a half, so I'd like to revive that and explore parts of Europe that I haven't yet visited.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore has made a significant impact on both my style sensibilities as well as my creativity. I have come to heavily rely on Polyvore for staying up-to-date on trends (both current and upcoming) and for news from the world of fashion, couture, and retail. My skills at composing a look or a layout have been honed in the five years that I have been a member. It has also been a rewarding experience in terms of making connections with other Polyvore members, being inspired by their talents, and also forming meaningful friendships. Last year, I met with one of my PV friends for the first time and we had so much fun walking in out and of the boutiques in Meatpacking District/TriBeCa. We discussed the items we'd already seen on PV before seeing them in stores, talked about the sartorial elegance of our favorite designers, etc.

How would you describe your set style?

I've always been a fan of minimalism, and a believer of the "less is more" mantra. Ergo, my sets tend to be streamlined and clean, with a balanced amount of strategically positioned negative space to make them appear light and not cluttered. Generally speaking, I veer toward the editorial look due to my advertising background.

Who did you choose your username?

Few people on here know this, but my actual name is Nupuri. My nickname, Minnie, was acquired when I was six or seven and was obsessed with Disney and Minnie Mouse. Thus I forced my parents to call me Minnie and wouldn't answer to any other name. For the record, my desire of wearing polka dotted frocks and hair bows died decades ago.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

I'm always logged in, until the cookies expire and I have to sign in again. I check Polyvore first thing in the morning, right after going through my personal email. I go to the activity page and after getting caught up with that, I check the trending topics, especially the Polyvore collections featuring top products/sets for the day. Then I get caught up with the sets of other members whom I follow, and lastly I go to the editor to create a new set or work on an existing draft.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

The Polyvore Editor is fantastic. There have been so many improvements made over the years, and it's now exceptionally organized and user-friendly. The upgraded clipper is super. I love the ability to customize the shapes, as well as the addition of the color block tool. I'm also a big fan of the search feature, allowing you to look for not just a specific item but also various trends, and then having the ease and accessibility to shop the same.

Describe your personal sense of style.

Although I keep up-to-date with trends, I don't follow them blindly; I make them my own. I like to dress classic, mixing brights with neutrals. Just like my set style, I carry the minimalism to my personal style as well, so I avoid over-accessorizing. Coco Chanel's sage advice was to look in the mirror before leaving the house, and taking one thing off. I firmly believe in this. On a regular day, I opt for dark-wash bootcut jeans or a pencil skirt, paired with a pretty blouse or sweater. As much as I like stilettos, I seldom wear them. Living in a city, it's so much more comfortable to walk around in ballet flats or boots. I'm a big fan of tailored jackets and trench coats, and I can't seem to have enough of those. I also love buying jewelry -- both fashion and fine -- especially pieces that will outlast seasonal trends and can be versatile. For formal wear, I'm drawn to dresses that are romantic -- Grecian draping or flowing silks, accessorized with one or two statement pieces, either in the form of jewelry or clutch.

Got any requests for the Polyvore team?

Just a couple: would love to see a bigger selection of fonts. I find the current selection rather limiting when creating an editorial layout. Also, if there would be a way that we could search through our clipped/saved items using the color chart, that would be very helpful.

Tell us your name, age, profession and anything you’d like to share.

My name is Eleanna Michael, I'm 25 years old and I studied landscape architecture. The truth is that I do not work as a landscaper. I do not get passionate about what I studied and that is why I prefer to do something else. For example, for the moment I am a shift manager in a chain coffee shop. The thing is, we must always do what we are passionate about.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in Cyprus. Despite the fact that it is a small island, people are into fashion a lot. Most of the trends here exist in England. For example what plays a lot now in the shops and in the streets are a lot of black pieces with leather details. Trends that I truly love? Oversized jackets or coats, high-waisted trousers and bodysuits under blazers or knitted cardigans.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

My favorite designers are YSL, Tom Ford and Balmain. I find their clothes chic and simple with straight lines. About Balmain clothes, I just love them because of the over-the-top gold details. Balmain clothes are fierce.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?

I like Victoria Beckham's style a lot. Simple, sexy and posh. Even though I wouldn't wear heels all day, I like that classy style.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

What I really want to do in my life is eventually get really involved in the fashion world. I live for that idea. My passion about fashion and photography makes me want to become a style director or a fashion photographer one day.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

I almost sign in everyday, and the first thing I do is check my notifications to see what new contests are open. I am a bit addicted to Polyvore. I almost log in everyday and I spend a lot of time creating sets. Even though a lot might say that it is just a site, I take it seriously. I say that yes, it is just a site, my 'passion' site.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore made my passion for fashion grow. Here I am able to create my own personal sets and share them with the public.

Describe your personal sense of style.

My personal style? I would say it's simple, a bit casual and a bit of chic. I love black, leather, high-waisted trousers, small gold details and red lips.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

What I really like in Polyvore is the 'ASK' section, a clever and, of course, helpful section.

Anything else you would like us to know?

Generally, what I think about style is that it must to be different from person to person. We are different, and so is our style.

I am from fabulous Las Vegas. People come here to have fun, and they tend to dress in extremes. Bigger jewelry, higher heels, lots of skin. People can get away with styles here that they wouldn't wear at home.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

I love haute couture, and my all-time favorite brand is Christian Dior. Dior's look is sophisticated, chic, feminine and timeless. It will be interesting to see what the new head designer Raf Simons will bring to the line.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?

I think Zooey Deschanel, Michelle Williams, Kate Moss and Katy Perry have great style, but I am a huge Lady Gaga fan. I love that she is so fearless in her style. Whether her look is a hit or a miss it's pure Gaga.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

One of my other passions is painting. My ultimate goal is to be a working artist full time.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore has given me a forum to showcase my love of beautiful, well-made clothes, shoes and handbags. I may not be able to afford a Lanvin dress or a Fendi clutch in reality, but in my Polyworld I can style them in my sets.

How was Teen Vogue's Fashion University?

Teen Vogue's Fashion University was an amazing opportunity! I am still in shock that I won! The designers (Phillip Lim, Erin Featherston, Olivier Theyskens, Michael and Nicole Colovos) were so approachable and real. They gave great insight into the reality of the fashion world and great advice to aspiring young designers. The highlight of Teen Vogue Fashion U was seeing Grace Coddington. I am such a fan of her work at Vogue!

How would you describe your set style?

I create my sets with the same thought process as my paintings. I consider composition, subject matter and use of color. I love using bold color combinations.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

I do try to sign onto Polyvore daily because I love looking at the top sets of the day. I enjoy seeing what the Polyvore community has created. There is so much talent!

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

I love top sets (especially when one of my sets is featured)!

Describe your personal sense of style.

I tend to avoid overdosing with trends, and stay true to timeless classics with a vintage flair. I am working mother and full-time stylist for my two little girls. I do not have a lot of time to over think my style. I keep things simple.

My name is Lidia. I am 48 years old. Currently, I am working with people with mental illness in social services. I graduated as a Registered Practical Nurse and worked in a hospital for years. I also graduated with a degree in fashion design and informatica.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Wearing black is big here, mostly because the city is a "business" city--oil. I see people wearing leather pieces and lots of lace.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

I grew up with Gucci, so the brand is my number one favorite. Also I am a big fan of Lanvin, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. I love H&M and Zara too. They are always up-to-date with the most recent fashion. I love classy and chic pieces that are easy to combine in my everyday wardrobe.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?

I adore Kate Moss. Her style is flawless. She does classic pieces to make an up-to-date look. Also love Jennifer Aniston's style. Very simple and always fabulous.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

To be happy and healthy. I love fashion and I really want to work in the industry. I cannot complain. I've reached many goals, but still want to grow.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore changed my life. Having access to so many forms of fashion and art at the click of a button is incredible. I can feed my hunger for fashion and art and I can express myself. I've also met so many incredible and talented people.

How would you describe your set style?

I love to experiment with different styles. I love to mix patterns and use bold colors. I also love the minimal looks too.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

I am on Polyvore everyday. Kinda addicted. I like to check my daily activities and then my mail box. I also love to see my polyfriends' creations. Finally, I browse brands to see their top stories.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

I love the editor and clipper for sure. Also the comment section below each set or collection is awesome. The Polyvore team has done an amazing job since I started creating sets here.

Describe your personal sense of style.

My style is very simple. Love high heels, tailored jackets and skinny jeans. I like very minimalist style, but also love to wear bold colors and yes, love shoes with attitude. I'm crazy for bags.

Tell us your name, age, profession and anything you’d like to share.

My name is Patricia Coelho, I am a 38-year-old writer, set designer and prop stylist, driven by music. A while ago, I decided to spend the time and master a couple things I love in order to be able to make a living out of them and get more space for the things that really matter in life. That is why I have been running my own business for three, almost four years now. I am also the proud mom of two cats (Josephine and Napoleon), a passionate learner, traveler and dancer. Easily attracted to vintage stuff, morning light, coffee and macarons, among many other things.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I am currently based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Weather here is typically hot (uncomfortably hot sometimes), so lightweight, quick-drying fabrics, vibrant colors and prints are always trendy. Furthermore, the top trends for A/W 2013 - spotted on the runways of the just-ended SPFW (Sao Paulo Fashion Week) - are: subtly sheer, everything leather (dresses, skirts, sleeves), delicate embroidery and tailored, oversized pieces with a boyish appeal.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

I cannot say I have a favorite brand or designer per se, but I have always loved Gucci, Burberry, Balenciaga and Chanel classic pieces. Most recently, Proenza Schouler and Maison Martin Margiela have conquered my heart with their minimalist, contemporary visions. I also admire the creativity and originality of the Brazilian designers, especially Isabela Capeto, Gloria Coelho and Patricia Bonaldi.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?

It seems to me that Kate Moss always knows what to wear to look gorgeous and aptly dressed. Also, Charlotte Gainsbourg has a great sense of style! She dresses casually, unpretentiously and still looks very sharp.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

Get widely recognized for my work and become a Polyvore representative, either in South America, Portugal or wherever you guys need me.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore has changed my life in so many ways! The site gives me all the effective tools to express my ideas and style. Plus, the Polyvore team keeps launching excellent improvements that make it easier to share our creations, shopping the latest products and discover the best contents online. As a result, the whole modus operandi helps us to save a lot of time! Not to mention the talented, welcoming community! I have made some wonderful overseas friends and great professional contacts there.

How would you describe your set style?

I like to think I don't have a "pre-established" set style. I get inspired by so many things: outfits, photos, trends, contests. My sets certainly reflect this diversified nature. So, for now, let's call them "multifaceted."

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

When I am not traveling or drowning in work, I sign on every day. I always head straight to the activity stream to check the latest activities and news, then I get myself up to date visiting Polyvore and Polyvore editorial official profile.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

The Editor itself is my favorite feature. It is absolutely fantastic how organized, functional and accessible it is! The clipper and the mini editor are the cherries on top.

Describe your personal sense of style.

I like to feel comfortable and cozy. Honestly, I would love to attend every appointment wearing jeans and ballet flats! I am a huge fan of pearls, polka dots, florals, everything lace, leather jackets, graphic and striped tees, so I mix and match them whenever possible. I am addicted to bags, hats and sunglasses as well. When it comes to formal wear, I usually prefer neutral colors, stiletto heels and silky textures.

Got any requests for the Polyvore team?

I would like to be able to rearrange my collections as well as drag them in and out of other collections, from the "collection.edit" page. I also would love to be able to save items from the "All Items" tab, while in the "collection.edit" page.

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day (anything you’d like to share).

My name is Heidi, I'm in my thirties, and I teach foreign languages and also work as a translator. We don’t have a dress code at work so I can wear pretty much whatever I like. I’m more of a skirt or dress person, which is a bit unusual in a country where most women prefer to wear jeans or pants. I’m not into prints so a typical outfit would be a simple sheath dress, as unusual shoes as I can get away with and nail polish in atypical colours – I prefer blues and greens the most. I go running every evening so I spend a lot of time in sportswear, too.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in southwestern Finland and at the moment we are still getting the occasional rogue snowstorm so people are still wearing their winter coats and boots. I’ve noticed people wearing brighter colours such as pink and oranges, florals and checked fabrics like gingham lately.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

I don’t know if I really have a single favorite, but probably wear Max Mara, Armani and Ralph Lauren the most. I like classic pieces I can wear for several years and these brands make a lot of timeless pieces that are worth the investment.

Which celebrity has great style?

I love almost everything that Inès de la Fressange wears. She seems to the epitome of Parisian chic. Also, Jennifer Aniston has great, understated style that lets people focus on her as a person rather than the outfits that she wears. Olivia Palermo seems to get it right more often than wrong.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Even though I love my work, it is often very dry and academic. Polyvore gives me a chance to be a bit more creative. I don’t have any training in design or fashion so most of my sets are just trial and error. I see a piece of clothing I like and think: “Hmm. I wonder what I’d wear with that…” Plus I get to do virtual shopping via my sets so this curtails my shopping habits a bit! Looking at all the wonderful sets people create here has probably affected the way I dress even though I haven’t thought of it consciously. I’m even thinking of maybe buying something floral this spring and this is something I’d never have done earlier. And I love the community aspect; this site has given me a chance to “meet” lots of wonderful and creative people around the world.

Describe your personal sense of style.

I have a mother and a grandmother who have always been very much into fashion, and I’ve grown up with fashion magazines scattered around the house. So, apart from my quirky shoes and nail polishes, I’m into classic and simple stuff. I have several vintage design pieces that I’ve gotten from my grandmother that I love to wear. I tend to buy investment pieces rather than high street fashion or mass market retailers such as H&M, so I’m not always good at following the latest trends.

Tell us your name, age, and profession (anything you’d like to share).

My name is Georgina and I’m 23 years old. I have a double bachelor’s degree in museum studies and art history, and I am currently working on a master’s degree in museum studies. I work at an art center, and I work on a few public art, museum and gallery jobs on the side.

Describe your personal sense of style.

It really depends on the day. If I’m headed to class I usually wear simple, neutral tees with black or burgundy jeans and faux-leather flip-flops or Converse. Basically I keep it simple and easy since I have to install exhibitions. If I am working at the gallery or going to a museum event, which I do a lot, I wear very uncomfortable but too-cute-to-pass heels, dresses and pencil skirts. I’m also a huge fan of cardigans and layering. People also tend to associate me with my favorite Retro Super Future Ciccio nerd glasses I’ve had for the past 3 years.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

I love Marni and the continual use of interesting patterns and textures blended together to make a funky yet cohesive look. I also love the eyeglass brand Super. The mix of classic styles with extra thick frames always makes for a nice, functional accessory and always leads to fun conversations.

Who is your favorite artist?

This would have to be the most difficult question people ask me. Off the top of my head, I would say Max Ernst, Philip Campbell Curtis and René Magritte; surrealism is my favorite. Some of my favorite current working artists are Nick Cave and a local artist, Jeff Falk.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

Ideally. after I finish my master’s degree, I would like to work at an art museum in exhibition development and collections management . Hopefully I will make that happen.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

I stumbled upon Polyvore one day on an interior design blog; I created an account and was hooked. Having access to so many forms of fashion and art at the click of a few buttons is very gratifying and helps feed my need for creativity. Not only has it made boring days more fun, but I have also met some great, inspirational friends along the way.

How would you describe your set style?

I would say my set style is simple and to the point. I don’t like adding too much to my sets. I want to get my vision across and not be over-distracting. I like things to fit just so.

I know you also get set/artist request. What was the most interesting request you've gotten?

I suppose one of the most interesting requests I have gotten was from a girl asking if I would

make her a set to feature on her blog so that she could discuss how art influences fashion. She

said she did not know a lot about artists but that she was inspired. That meant a lot to me.

What is the significance of your username?

No crazy cool significance, just my name.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

Well before I started graduate school, I was on every day. Now that has slowed to a few times a week. When I do get the time, it feels even more indulgent. The first thing I do when I sign on is view my likes and comments, followed by some visual drooling over other people’s sets.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

I love the “Following” link because I get to see new creations instantly from the other amazing Polyvore members. I follow so many people, it is hard to keep track. So this feature helps a lot.

Got any requests for the Polyvore team?

I was so fortunate to meet the Polyvore team in San Francisco, and I have got to say you guys are on top of your game. Geniuses! You guys are always coming up with features that I did not even realize I wanted. I would, however, love to be able to sort my items by color. It would make matching the objects to the paintings much easier.

Anything else you would like us to know?

Nothing about me personally but I think it is important that people always follow their passion, no matter what or where it takes you.

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day.

My name is Elena Tserioti. I'm 26 and studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I'm addicted to fashion, especially shoes and bags, plus I love painting, traveling and shopping. As for my everyday style, I think comfort should always be given utmost priority while thinking of what to wear. I love jeans and I wear them almost every day. Also I prefer to add some accessories for a glamorous daytime look.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in Limassol, in Cyprus. Over the last few years, people have really started to play with fashion and fashion trends here, more than ever. This season bright neon colors, geometric prints, asymmetric skirts, shorts, statement necklaces, oversized bags and maxi dresses are a must! My everyday style is a mix of feminine, chic and classy. It is kind of unique in some ways and I prefer to make a fashion statement with contrast. I love to experiment with different styles.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

There are so many beautiful brands and designers over the last years. It is so hard to choose among them. I'm a huge fan of Céline and Hermes bags, because they make a statement. Also I could die for a pair of Christian Louboutin or Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, because they stand out with their elegance. Each one of these brands describes my personal sense of style.

I don't have just one favorite fashion idol. I get inspired by many fashion blogs and magazines. However my all-time favorite celebrity is Victoria Beckham. Her look is elegant, timeless and sophisticated, with a bit of sexy style.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

I have very high aspirations and goals! I could see myself working in the fashion world. So I'm not going to give all my secrets away!

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore, has affected my life heavily! It gave me the opportunity to transform my life, inspired me to start doing what I really love! So I started my own fashion blog called “Just Sweet” (www.justsweet.gr)! Via Polyvore I can create my own sets and publish them on my site, providing all the latest trends of fashion and sharing my personal sense of style. I am so glad, knowing that this content is absolutely mine. I love Polyvore! Thank you so much! In addition, Polyvore and one of the leading fashion brands of Spain, Mango, gave me the most amazing present this year! By competing in the contest ‘Fluent in Fashion with Mango,' I went to Barcelona and had a relaxing and fashion-filled experience!

How would you describe your set style?

I believe that if you let others categorize you, you lose some of your own self-ness and become a stereotype. So, because I love to experiment with different styles, each set is a new experiment! I prefer to play with colors and contrasts.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

Polyvore is the greatest reason to take a timeout away from programming and solving mathematical and circuit equations! To be honest, I don’t remember the last time I had a day away from Polyvore. Even if I’m not home, I sign on from my smartphone! The first thing I usually do is look at the activity stream, maybe new messages or new sets from my friends. I check out all the new fashion trends and designs of my favorite brands. Also, if I have inspiration, I create sets, save them in drafts or publish them.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?

There are so many features which together make Polyvore the most amazing website that it is! So it's not easy for me to choose just one! I believe, (as a programmer: P) that the most significant and usable part of the site is the Polyvore Editor. All the creativity of fashion lovers is hidden there!

In addition, the comment section below each set is another favorite part. Knowing that a social site is supposed to be about sharing thoughts and ideas between author and reader, it makes comments very important! I love all the comments and favorites from my lovely Polyvore friends and I really appreciate them! I wish I had more free time to comment back and provide feedback to all of them.

If I had to describe my personal sense of style with three words, they would be feminine, chic and fashion-forward. I love change. I absolutely love to try new combinations and try out different things about my personal style.

Tell us your name, age, and profession (anything you’d like to share).

My name is Jo Ann, I'm 28 years old and graduated with a business degree. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom and enjoy being able to watch my three year old son grow.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in California in the Bay Area. Our style really depends on the weather because the weather here is crazy, it can be hot or cold. We love to wear sunglasses and skinny jeans. It's almost fall, so we like to dress in layers with leather jackets, sweaters, warm coats and ankle boots. I see a lot of bright-colored tops, prints and bright-colored cropped pants.

Describe your personal sense of style.

I am all about dressing comfortably. I think it’s best to be yourself and be comfortable in whatever you're wearing. Leggings, sweatshirts, cardigans and skinny jeans are my thing. I love wearing sunglasses and I'm a huge fan of Carrera sunglasses.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

I'm impressed with Coco Chanel's timeless designs and with Alexander McQueen's unique and edgy designs. I have an obsession with leather handbags. I love Rebecca Minkoff, Juicy Couture, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about his or her style?

I appreciate Nicole Richie's sense of style. Her style has inspired many trends.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

I love traveling! I want to visit famous and historical landmarks and explore fascinating hidden places.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore encourages me to express myself and to unleash my passion for fashion. I also love the Polyvore community which is very supportive and inspirational. Polyvore is part of my everyday

life. Even my three-year-old son will ask me, mommy, what are you doing, polyvoring?

How was your trip to NYC during fashion week?

I’m very thankful for getting the opportunity to attend to this once-in-a-lifetime experience. This is something that is still a little bit unreal. I admire Stacey Bendet for being such a brilliant designer. I was fascinated with her retro, eclectic yet fashionable designs. I have to confess I ate lots of Magnum mini bars during the Alice + Olivia presentation. I had an amazing time in NYC. How would you describe your set style?

My set style depends on my mood. I always want to make sure its wearable and something I would personally wear. I enjoy using bright and bold colors. I like to mix up classic styles with a trendy twist.

What is the significance of your username?

My username is actually my son’s nickname that I gave him when he was still a baby.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?

I'm always signed on. I usually check my daily activities, messages and explore my friends’ sets and like them. I also like to check exciting new trends.
