Elementary Report Cards: Available on Parent Portal on June 3

Parents can find their child’s final report card for the school year online via Infinite Campus. In previous years, elementary report cards were either given to the student to take home on the last day or mailed in the summer to families after teachers had completed grading. New this year, parents can view report cards for students in grades K-5 online. A printed report card will no longer be mailed to homes.

Where can I find the report card?
Parents can logon to the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus and find their child’s report card.

When will the final report card be published?
Students’ report cards will be published on the Parent Portal on Monday, June 3. Parents are able to access this report card information until noon on Tuesday, June 12. If parents would like a printed copy of their child’s report card, please download it from Infinite Campus during this time.

If I have questions, whom should I contact?
Please contact your elementary school office if you have questions.

2013-2014 Kindergarten Summer Fun

2013-2014 kindergarteners should mark their calendars for three exciting events this summer. Ms. Dressel will be waiting for you on the following dates for some summer fun.

Tuesday, June 11th from 10-11 on the playground for popsicles

Tuesday, July 9th from 10-11 for some playground fishin' fun

Thursday, August 1st from 10-11 for a cool ride on the school bus

These events are also opportunities for parents to drop off any forms still needed to complete your child's enrollment file.

Congratulations to 1,300+ student athletes who participated in the district-wide elementary and middle school track and field meets held during the month of May. The track and field meets are just one of several district-wide athletic events that take place for students each year. Thanks to all the Physical Education teachers who committed their time to preparing students for the events.

Hershey’s Track and Field Games are coming to Lafayette High School on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Join in the fun by competing in basic track and field events. View more information and register today!

Community Ed’s Track and Field Instructional Program is for athletes of all ability levels and introduces kids to the fun of of the sport. Led by trained coaches, athletes practice twice per week and participate in two intra-squad meets. The program is being offered at Lafayette and Rockwood Summit High Schools and runs June 3-July 20. Artist of the Month

Congratulations to Artist of the Month, Jackson Busch. Jackson, a fourth grader in Mr. Kellhofer's class, will have his line drawing on display in the fifth grade grand hallway until the end of the school year. Way to go Jackson and thank you Mrs. Messina for encouraging all of our students to find their artistic strengths.

Mrs. Casias: Drizzle by Kathleen Van Cleeve Eleven-year-old Polly Peabody knows her family's world-famous rhubarb farm is magical. The plants taste like chocolate and there are jewels appearing in the soil, along with talking bugs. But suddenly things start to take a wrong turn and it is up to Polly to figure it all out.

Mrs. Eyman: Junie B. First Grader: Aloha-ha-ha! by Barbara Parks Happily board the plane with Junie B and her family as she sets off for a fun vacation in Hawaii. Lots of fun and laughs.

Mrs. Meyer: 13 Treasures by Michelle Harrison This trilogy is about good and bad fairies that take over the lives of the three main characters, Tanya, Red and Fabian. They are sent on adventures trying to save the lives of some of their family members and along the way discover old family secrets!

Ms. Schmitt: The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary There are three books in the series about an adventurous mouse named Ralph who befriends children. the stories include themes of friendship and growing up.

Mr. Kellhofer: Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea Mr. Terupt, a first year teacher, makes 5th grade an unforgettable year for his students. Follow a few of the students as they learn to appreciate life, love their families, reflect on the decisions theymake, and find out what true friendship is all about. Because of Mr. Terupt, life will never be the same again.

Summer Savings Week with Community Ed

Summer is almost here! To celebrate, Rockwood Community Education is offering a week of savings on summer programs May 6-10, 2013. Each day, two different camps, clinics or classes will be offered at a reduced price for one day only.

The deals will begin at 9 a.m. and will be available until 10 p.m. each day. Be sure to visit the Community Education website each day to take advantage of these special savings.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Saturday, August 24th is Pond Elementary's night to shine at Busch Stadium as the 2013-2014 fifth grade students will sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" on the field during the 7th inning stretch. Mark your calendars so you will be a part of this fun evening at the ballpark as the Cardinals take on the Atlanta Braves. Tickets will go fast so please click here to download the ticket order form. The last day to purchase tickets is Friday, May 17th. All tickets will be distributed in August a week before the game.

Kindergarten Year End News

There are only a few weeks left of school, but still lots going on in kindergarten. Parent volunteers are needed to "Fun in the Sun Day" on Friday, May 17th. There are six beachy themed stations that need parents to make this day a success. Please fill out the attached form and return with your child. Also, don't forget that the year end celebration Kindergarten ROCKS! will be held on Monday, May 20th at 6:30-7:15 in the Pond gym. Student should be dressed in their Kindergarten Rocks Shirts! Kona Snow Cones will be available for $2 after the performance. For more informationsee attached.

Battle Bots Face Off
