A patented design for a self-guided bullet that is very much a real life aimbot and is described as a dart-like, self-guided bullet for small-calibre, smooth bore firearms that could hit laser-designated targets at distances of more than a mile.

Sandia is now seeking a private investment to complete testing of the prototype and bring the aimbot to the marketplace to make fat bank for both concerned. Researchers have had initial success testing the design in simulations and in field tests built from commercially available parts thus far.

The four-inch-long bullet includes an optical sensor in the nose to detect a laser beam on a target. The sensor sends information to guidance and control electronics that use an algorithm in an eight-bit central processing unit to command electromagnetic actuators. These actuators steer tiny fins that guide the bullet to the target, which in turn accepts the bullet thankfully. Plastic sabots provide a gas seal in the cartridge and protect the delicate fins until they drop off after the bullet emerges from the firearm’s barrel.

Researchers also filmed high-speed video of the bullet radically pitching as it exited the barrel. The bullet pitches less as it flies down range, a phenomenon known to long-range firearms experts as “going to sleep.” Because the bullet’s motions settle the longer it is in flight, accuracy improves at longer ranges. “Nobody had ever seen that, but we’ve got high-speed video photography that shows that it’s true,” Jones said.

Potential customers for the bullet include the military, American and Israeli law enforcement, super villains but not super heroes and of course Americans.

The creator of the long-running US TV show Soul Train has shot himself at his Los Angeles home, police said.

Don Cornelius, 75, was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning after police answered reports of gunshots at his home around 04:00 (12:00 GMT).

British Royal Navy reveals new supersonic anti-missile system

A missile systems company based in Filton near Bristol has been awarded a £483m Ministry of Defence contract. Defence Equipment Minister Peter Luff said: "The development of this missile system is a huge boost to the UK's world-leading missile industry and once again proves our commitment to providing battle-winning technology to our armed forces."

The Sea Ceptor concept uses a missile capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 3 and it will have the ability to deal with multiple targets simultaneously, protecting an area of around 500 square miles over land or sea.

The Sea Ceptor will replace the Sea Wolf air defence system which is to go out of service in 2016.

Sea Wolf, which has been used by the Royal Navy since 1979, was originally built and designed by the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) which later became MBDA.

It is desomorphine, a synthetic opiate many times more powerful than heroin that is created from a complex chain of mixing and chemical reactions, which the addicts perform from memory several times a day. While heroin costs from £20 to £60 per dose, desomorphine can be "cooked" from codeine-based headache pills that cost £2 per pack, and other household ingredients available cheaply from shops.It is a drug for the poor, and its effects are horrific. It was given its reptilian name because its poisonous ingredients quickly turn the skin scaly.

Unlike heroin, where the hit can last for several hours, a krokodil high only lasts between an hour or 2. Given that the "cooking" process takes at least half an hour, being a krokodil addict is basically a full-time job...mum would be so proud.

If you miss the vein, that's an abscess straight away essentially, these people are injecting poison directly into their flesh. It goes grey and peels away to leave bones exposed. People literally rot to death. It is PROPER ROUGH. I cannot stress that enough.... and although this is slightly off my usual topic i felt i needed to share :)

Classic Doom weapon, Kurt Cobain's final mic and preferred zombie mashing tool of the God among men Bruce Campbell, gets a 2012 revamp from makers Merkel.

The walnut has a subtle glow, the barrel blacking seems less dense than many modern finishes, the classic lines and obvious proof of craftsmanship are what jump out at you first with this gun.

Even with its 26.3/4in barrels, weighing just less than 7lb, the Merkel is not that light for a 20-bore. The method of construction requires a fairly deep action and the quality and therefore density of the walnut all contribute towards that weight. Its the kind that belongs on the arm of a clay pigeon shooter as a fashion accessory to really show his mates he's balling or your retirement present to sit on the wall and swear blind to the grand kids its loaded.

After initial rumours were denied, Manchester rock band Happy Mondays have announced that they will indeed be reuniting their original lineup, according to a statement obtained by The Quietus. Their reunion will mark the first time brothers Shaun and Paul Ryder have played together since 2000.

A friends sister told me she was going to go to a festival in California this year. Known for bringing bands back together such as Pavement and Death From Above 1979 in recent years and being the USA's answer to Glasto, I investigated..........

Turns out to be some boss festival and has a sick ol' line up.

Best of the British: Radiohead, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Pulp, Florence & The Machine Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys

Best of USA: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and The Black Keys.

The big shock for me was a eagerly anticipated reunion from cult following rock band At The Drive-In the precursor (yay used that word again) to The Mars Volta who are pretty epic with both bands being known for their energetic live shows.

Grammy award-winning duo La Roux will also appear alongside UK dance acts SBTRKT, Calvin Harris and Nero and a whole bunch more.

For the first time the event will take place over two weekends on 13-16 April and 20-22 April featuring the same line-up. Around 90,000 places will be available for each weekend. Totes jel -_-

America's classified X-37B spaceplane is probably spying on China, according to a report in Spaceflight magazine. So begins 2012 another butthurt year for America!

"Space-to-space surveillance is a whole new ball game made possible by a finessed group of sensors and sensor suites, which we think the X-37B may be using to maintain a close watch on China's nascent space station," said Spaceflight editor Dr David Baker.

"The parallels with X-37B are clear," Dr Baker says in Spaceflight, the long established magazine of the British Interplanetary Society.
"With a period differential of about 19 seconds, the two vehicles will migrate toward or against each other, converging or diverging, roughly every 170 orbits."

He published his own assessment last year of the X-37B's capabilities and role as a platform to trial technologies before they are incorporated into a full-up spy satellite. Mr Weeden thinks the Middle East is a more likely target for any new sensors that the X-37B might be carrying.

"Is it spying on Tiangong-1? I really don't think so. I think the fact that their orbits intersect every now and again - that's just a co-incidence. If the US really wanted to observe Tiangong, it has enough assets to do that without using X-37B."

The Phalanx CIWS is an anti-ship missile defence system. It is a close-in weapon system (CIWS) and was designed and manufactured by the General Dynamics Corporation, Pomona Division.

It also looks like the Transformers franchise is trying to enter the middle eastern market.

Consisting of a radar-guided 20mm Gatling gun mounted on a swivelling base, the Phalanx is used by the United States Navy on every class of surface combat ship because why not?? The CIWS is designed to be the last line of defence against anti-ship missiles after they called for some kind of Chuck Norris type answer to defence. Due to its design criteria its effective range is very short relative to the range of modern ship missiles, from 1 to 5 nautical miles (9 km). However the gun mount moves at a very high speed and with great precision unlike the missiles.

CIWS mounts fire at a rate of 4,500 rounds per minute which sounds so amazing it will make your ears bleed and also has a stupidly massive 1,550 round magazine which coincidentally is the exact same size clips Rambo carrys in Rambo. The velocity of the rounds once fired is approximately 3,600 feet per second which for us none scientists is about the same speed of your average seasoned porn star's money shot. The rounds are Armour-piercing tungsten penetrator rounds or depleted uranium with discarding sabots and the kinetic projectiles are designed to pierce and explode an incoming missile's warhead in a cloud of justice.

Not being satisfied with perma owning missiles at sea they also wanted to own them on land. The end result was called Centurion and although 3 men getting their suits beamed down to them by some hot chick and a orangutan was what spang to mind it turned out to be a stupid gun on a truck. :((

Not many artists over the years happily claim to be influenced by a free cover mount CD on a magazine, normally it comes from some broken home, family, quest to the biggest thing since slice bread trends or the classic X factor/American Idol blubber fest of a reason. But MK doesn't seem to be trying to impress and doesn't afraid of anything.

Michael Kiwanuka is a British soul musician of Ugandan heritage. He left early musical loves Nirvana and Radiohead behind when he came upon a rare recording of Otis Redding's Sitting On The Dock of the Bay on a magazine tribute to Bob Dylan.

MK's music had a new rootsy-folk direction, drawing influences from John Martyn alongside Pop Staples and Bill Withers and it wasn't long before his voice had attracted the attention of Paul Butler from the Bees, who took him to the Isle of Wight to work on EP Tell Me The Tale. Signed with Communion Records and Adele had invited the chap on her 2011 tour. Not bad for 1 year of work out of the youngster!

MK stole the show among Bjork, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Noel Gallagher on the final Later... with Jools Holland of the series. Although never build by them it sure did make the goodguys /drool and go to work to see if the theory was feasible then finally by the 70's as part of the “star wars” Strategic Defence Initiative; railguns use magnetic fields to propel a conductive projectile like a metal rod, to incredible speeds.

They have been used in gaming for at least a decade and continue to see constant use taking on many forms in games like:

Crysis , Red Faction, Quake and Metal gear Solid.

Charles Garnett the project director said that "the rail gun will be able to take out a building by the time it is put into service". It was 8 MJ (megajoules or Michael Jackson's) rail gun firing 3.2 kg projectiles in October 2006 as a prototype of a 64 MJ weapon to be deployed aboard Navy warships. Since then BAE have delivered a 32 MJ prototype to Team America World Police and currently hold the world record for a 33MJ shot.
