Toys for Needy Kids of Lanka : Came to an Ignominious / Disgraceful End

The Man came to Lanka from afar with good intention of distributing toys among poor kids of ''War Victims'' of Sri Lanka.
The Man imagined most of his friends and acquaintances and loved ones and ''close'' ones will gladly join in the act.
Oh ! NO !! It wasn't to be ...
He was told indirectly that NGOs are there in place in Lanka and why would you try to do their works especially since you DO NOT go to Church at all.
There is the crux of the matter. A regular, compulsive Church goer does not hesitate to take home unearned income or produce. Bribe to them appears in their mind as regular ''dues''.
Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, the war zone, gave the Man his the first disappointment.

His friend from the 1970s was doing well in Vavuniya who helped in identifying and selecting nine poor children --- demanded his 14 year son too to be included as a beneficiary. Man refused. End !

A hill country, Rubber Plantation Trade Unionist, a member of a leftist political party volunteered to carry on the good work ... bur the Man walked into tall talk.
That's what it all amounted to in the end, mere ''Tall Talk''.

The know-all-tall-talker shoved aside an attempt at explaining portrait photography to be published in website with "I have enough experience in handling cameras''.
He took money amounting to not less than Rs 500/= to buy film roll.
He came with photos of kids standing far away --- with extended foreground --- not portraits --- and useless pictures of figures without any expression at all.
Even today he is yet to offer the Man an expenditure statement on the money for film !

This big talker who claims to know everything messed up many matters and finally
deposited money into non-existing account and claims he left the larger part of the money on the table of Man and insists ''You should have counted the money when I left them on your table''.
The Man retorted, ''I trusted you and therefore there was no need to count ... ''.

The Man now feels 'How will these people react when foreign money begins to come in when they cannot be honest with local money ?''.

Somehow, all these ''Do Gooders'' are humbugs !

So, the web site ''Toys for Needy Kids of Lanka'' died a natural yet sensible death !

இதென்ன வில்லெண்டமாய் போட்டுது ---

பொடி பெட்டை என்ன சில்லெடுப்பை எடுத்து விடபோறாளோ ! ---

எப்பவோ ஓரு நாளைக்கு கேக்கத்தானே போறாய் ! ---

ஓரு சின்ன சருமலுடன் கேட்டாள் '' ஏன் அம்மா நீ அடுத்த வீட்டு மாமியை நெடுக தேவடியா தேவடியா எண்டு திட்டுறீங்கள் ? ''

பொங்கி வந்த சிரிப்பை அடகிக் கொண்டு

'' உனக்கிப்ப உதே பெரிய விஷயமாய் போச்சு ! ''

'' பின்னை என்னம்மா அவவை ஏன் நெடுக தேவடி தேவடி எண்டுறியள் ''

'' அதடி பிள்ளை உன்ர கொப்பன் கள்ள சாராயம் வடிக்கிறார் அல்லே --- அது போல அந்த மாமீன்ர மனுசனும் தே வடிக்கிறாராமடி ''

'' தே எண்டால் ''

'' தே எண்டால் தேத்தண்ணி தான்ரி எளிய நாயே --- சும்மா அலட்டாமல் அந்த ஏப்பையை எடுத்து தாடி விசரி ''

Two Close Friends: Catholic Britisher and London Jew

Once there were two friends in London.

A Catholic Britisher and a London Jew.

They were very close family friends and both of them had a son each.

They always met at the same pub and sat at the same table to chat and enjoy a few beers in the evenings.

Sadly, the 2nd world war broke out and they were enlisted and separated.

They survived the war and returned to their respective homes.

And through force of habbit went down to the pub.

Lordy Lord, the other friend was already seated at their own table.

Imagine the joy in their re-union.

Celebrating with more than normal quota of beer they settled down to enquire of their families.

The Jew asked the Britisher, ''hey man, how is your son --- he must a grown up young man --- what's he going to do?''

''Oh, he wants to enter a seminary and become a priest ''.

'' A priest ? Whatever for!'', exclaimed the Jew.

''Why not? He could become a Bishop, ''or even an Archbishop in time'', returned the other man with rising anger.

''Oh, come on friend, make him a doctor, a healer of sick people, or atleast an engineer, builder of buildings and bridges, he will become rich and famous'', in an advisory tone to placate the old friend.

''Ah, you want him to become a Jesus Christ, do you ?''

in wrathful tone.

''Why not, why not, one of our boys became one !'',

declared the Jew

And both started laughing uproariously, much to the amusement of the other patrons in the pub.

அப்படீன்னா அ்சுத்தமான சுயநல மனமும் உள்ளதோ ?

ஏன் இல்லை ? இருக்கவே இருக்குதே சுத்தமான சுயநல மனம்.? !
தர்மம் செய்ய ஆசை படுவது – தர்மம் செய்து புண்ணியம் தேடுவது – கொடுப்பதில் பெருமை கொள்வது – இவைகள் சுயநலம் தானே !
இருந்தும் இவை பொது நலம் கலந்த சுயநலங்களே !

ஆகவே இவை வரவேற்க கூடியவையே !
