Quincy Jones on Michael Jackson: 'He Obviously Didn't Want to be Black'

I find it extremely refreshing that Quincy Jones keeps it honest. The talented musician and record producer was very close with Michael Jackson for decades. That being said, Quincy will call a spade a spade and he doesn't care.

Quincy does NOT hold back in his interview with Details magazine's website Style. Quincy was so aware of Michael's disturbing life, I wonder how he tried to help him? I, too, find it disturbing that Michael Jackson's kids are white. It's shameful that he had to have white children. Sadly Michael was a handsome man when he was black and prior to getting his face butchered up by plastic surgeons.

Here's Quincy's explosive interview:

Q: You were there to witness the strange evolution in Michael's appearance. Did you ever step in and saying anything about it?
A: Oh, we talked about it all the time. But he'd come up with, "Man, I promise you I have this disease," and so forth, and "I have a blister on my lungs," and all that kind of b.s. It's hard, because Michael's a Virgo, man—he's very set in his ways. You can't talk him out of it. Chemical peels and all that stuff.

Q: Did you believe him about the disease?
A: I don't believe in any of that bullshit, no. No. Never. I've been around junkies and stuff all my life. I've heard every excuse. It's like smokers—"I only smoke when I drink" and all that stuff. But it's bullshit. You're justifying something that's destructive to your existence. It's crazy. I mean, I came up with Ray Charles, man. You know, nobody gonna pull no wool over my eyes. He did heroin 20 years! Come on. And black coffee and gin for 40 years. But when he called me to come over to see him when he was in the hospital on his way out, man, he had emphysema, hepatitis C, cirrhosis of the liver, and five malignant tumors. Please, man! I've been around this all my life. So it's hard for somebody to pull the wool over my eyes. But when somebody's hell-bent on it, you can't stop 'em.

Q: But it must've been so disturbing to see Michael's face turn into what it turned into.
A: It's ridiculous, man! Chemical peels and all of it. And I don't understand it. But he obviously didn't want to be black.

Q: Is that what it was?
A: Well, what do you think? You see his kids?

Q: Did you ever discuss it? Did you ever ask, "Michael, don't you want to be a black man?"
A: No, no, no, please. That's not the way you do it.

Q: But he was beautiful before?
A: Man, he was the most gorgeous guy.

Q: At root, what do you think killed Michael Jackson?
A: I don't know, man. I'm a musician. I'm not a psychiatrist. I would think that the pressure of the concerts and the debt and everything else . . . look, I've been in the hands of Nobel doctors for the last five years, in Stockholm, at the Karolinska hospital, which you can't even pay to get in. I've learned so much about the human mind and the body, and the doctors talk all the time about how you become your thoughts. It's true. With one thought it starts, you know, and if you sit there and just stay hung up on one negative thought, you will become that thought. I know that Lisa Marie Presley said that she always thought he was going to die like Elvis. You sit and think about that stuff, it'll happen to you. If you start thinking about darkness instead of light, or fear instead of love, you'll get in trouble. I really believe that.

Q: You've said that you don't attend funerals anymore because you've lost so many friends. Do you plan to attend Michael Jackson's funeral?
A: No, not at all, not at all. Because it's going to be, like, 9 million people there, and it's not what I want to see.

Q: You're not going to be there?
A: No. I can't be there, anyway. I'm going to Wales the day after tomorrow, I go to Montreux, I go to Marbella, I go to the south of France. My condolences and love I've already sent to the family. But being there with 10 million people is not my idea of a tribute to somebody you were so close to—who's got a part of your soul. Our souls were joined, you know. And a piece of it goes with him.

You know how we do here at POTP, we act like non-bloggers on the holidays and we don't blog. POTP will be back on Tuesday. I wrote the MJ story above the day before and placed it on my posting schedule.

I need a day or two off. I have so much to do in preparation for my vacay. Aaaaahhhh. Well, I don't really, but that sounds good on paper, right? Packing is always drama for me cause whenever I go away for 2 days, I pack my entire house. Packing for over 3 weeks is nerve racking, to say the least.

Snarky will be blogging this Tuesday - Thursday and she'll be blogging for three weeks after beginning the week of July 13th. You should also be seeing Snarky a few days a week starting in August.

OK Magazine's Dead Michael Jackson Picture Cover

ETonline was the first media outlet to run the picture of Michael Jackson in the ambulance and OK! magazine actually spent $500,000 on Michael's "last" photo. The New York Posts asks, was it worth it?

Some staffers objected to owner Richard Desmond's decision to put the ghoulish picture on this week's cover -- and it looks like advertisers and readers may agree.

"Media buyers have canceled upcoming meetings to discuss rates. It's a disgrace. They've sunk to a new low." In addition, Sean Combs and Jay-Z are said to be so furious, "they're organizing a boycott," according to our source.

A rep for OK! said, "This is untrue."

Naturally the NY Post is going to inflate the backlash. Some people may be furious, but I'm not surprised by OK's cover choice at all. Trash is what keeps tabloid magazines successful.

Debbie Rowe Fights for Custody

Debbie Rowe is moving forward with trying to get custody of two of Michael Jackson's kids.

Greed has led to Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson pushing his son and beating him into submission so he'd be his meal ticket; and money has caused people to make false molestation accusations against MJ. Greed brings out some of the worst in people. Debbie Rowe is pretty much a stranger to her children, yet she suddenly "wants" them.

“I want my children,” Rowe said during a phone conversation Thursday morning with NBCLA’s Chuck Henry. Rowe said she was willing to submit to any testing, including DNA to prove that she is the children’s true biological mother. Rowe also said she would submit to psychological testing.

She also said she would seek a restraining order to keep Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, away from the children. She said she did not expect the court to grant custody of the third child, but added that she would be willing to accept custody.

“I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, Deborah Jean Rowe Jackson,” the will states.

If Debbie can prove that she the baby mama, she has a very strong case.

Michael Jackson Appears Healthy in Final Rehearsal Video

AEG, the promoter of Michael Jackson's 50-date London summer concert series, released footage of the late singer's concert rehearsal at the Staples Center. The video clip was filmed on June 23rd, two days before the icon's passing. CNN obtained the footage. MJ sang “They Don’t Care About Us” - from his HIStory album — as he danced along with eight male dancers.

Michael Jackson appeared to be healthy and he still had it! He appeared ready to perform for some of his biggest fans overseas. This footage is a stark contrast to the sickly pictures and videos which have surfaced over the past few years.

Michael Bay on Megan Fox: She Says Ridiculous Things!

Transformers director Michael Bay is sounding off of Ms. Fox. Megan Fox has tried to make herself sound like a credible actress by dissing Transformers.

Megan said, "I can't sh*t on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don't want to blow smoke up people's ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."

Michael Bay spoke to The Wall Street Journal about it and said,

"Well, that's Megan Fox for you! She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, 'Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.

Nick Cage wasn't a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck. before I put him in Armageddon. Shia LaBeouf wasn't a big movie star before he did Transformers -- and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from Bad Boys. Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers. I like to think that I've had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."

Megan didn't think she was sh*tting on Transformers cause she doesn't know how to speak. She said that she's a hermit and she should do something about that cause she has no social skills. Megan's nothing but a pretty face. Nothing. And her acting sucks. It's hard for her to accept this but she doesn't help her cause by talking about sex in all of her interviews. She's so tragical.

Fans Must Pay $25 for Michael Jackson Memorial Service Ticket

I think selling tickets for Michael Jackson's memorial service is entirely fair. Michael Jackson is legendary and he won't have any standard funeral.

When the King of Pop dies, things should be different. Furthermore, ticket sales will raise a lot of money for the Jackson estate, which may or may not be hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.

Michael Jackson's memorial service at the Staples Center costs $25. Family, friends and VIPS will have seats on the mail floor, while the general public will have to pay $25 each for a seat in the stands.

The memorial service will feel like a concert production featuring guest speakers, a lot of music and video screens inside and outside of Staples. Michael Jackson's close friend Elizabeth Taylor is expected to attend, along with Diana Ross.

T-shirts that were going to be sold on Michael's upcoming "This Is It" tour will be sold outside Staples to people entering the service. The service will be held between 10am PST and noon PST.

This is gonna be televised, right?! It has to be, no question. MJ will be smiling down when he sees the lavish memorial that his family and friends coordinate.

Drake's Video Isn't the 'Best'

Drake's song 'Best I Ever Had' has been in HEAVY rotation over the soCal radio stations and I have to admit the song is decent. It's kinda catchy, the lyrics are decent and it's sweet. A girl looks hottest when she's dressed down, according to Aubrey Drake Graham. I can dig it. The Canadian rapper's video features some very sexy stretching and maybe this was supposed to be comedic. I still found it difficult to watch.

Are you able to sit through this? Drake's Rihanna's alleged new side dish but I still don't believe it.

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have had individual Armani underwear ad campaigns, but they've joined bodies for the fall 2009 Emporio Armani underwear campaign.

The pics were shot in Milan, where Armani is headquartered. David Beckham and Posh's photos will be featured in fashion mags and major billboards in New York, LA, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo starting this month.

These pictures don't make me wanna watch a Beckham sex tape, and they should! Me thinks they look too much like mannequin robots. Posh looks like she's holding one in and Becks' face looks like he's trying to read a cue card but doesn't understand the words. Next.

Jessica Simpson Sings the Star Spangled Banner for AT&T

As you know, I'm not exactly impartial when it comes to anything related to Jessica Simpson. However, Jessica Simpson sounded great! Seriously. Ms. Simpson sang the National Anthem at the AT&T National Golf Tournament in DC yesterday.

Although Jess in the midst of working on a cheesy new reality show, she reminded everyone that she was famous first for her singing capabilities.

That being said, Jessica really needs vocal training because she screams too much. It's amazing that she still has a voice left after all the abuse her vocal chords have been through over the years. Her hair complimented her ensemble, but Jessica wore an alarming black and red stripped dress. It alarmed me that she thought it looked good on her. Jessica's weight gain is still clinging to her body and hips and she looked WIDE in her bargain basket-looking dress.
