Abortion: RU486 Victimizes Women

2011-11-26T21:18:00.001-08:00

Situation uneven among the Italian regions regarding the use of RU486 , the abortion pill that allows women to avoid surgical abortion. The data provided by the Nordic Pharma , the pharmaceutical company that distributes the drug in Italy from April 1 2010, draw a map that make the idea of attention given to women, at a sensitive time like that of abortion.

A quarter of women with a pregnancy in the seven weeks, the system decides to choose an abortion drug, ie the pill RU486. Durini Marcus , medical director of the Nordic Pharma, explained that in a year in Italy about 118mila abortions are practiced within in Law 194, 30 thousand of these are under seven weeks. According to data provided in 2010 were sold in packs of 4300, while in 2011 the number now reaches 6700. The estimate is to get to the end of the year to 8 thousand. On these data, the question is legitimate, and turn to Lisa Canitano , President of ' Association Life of Woman . Why, as were 30,000 women who had an abortion under 7 weeks, only 8 000 have benefited dell'RU486? "The cause is in the difficulties that have been made in the use of this drug - explains Canitano - especially for what concerns the obligation of hospitalization the ordinary. Many women can not use it, what the more serious as the international recommendations give the best medical abortion as compared to surgery (up to 7 weeks). The numbers, moreover is underestimated because many centers do not perform the ' surgical abortion before the eighth week, and so women are forced to delay beyond the 7 days of reflection provided by law. If RU486 becomes unavailable, breaks before the seventh week would be a lot more than 30 000. " The only region which has approved a protocol in day hospital, in addition to hospitalization, is Emilia Romagna. In others, especially those at the top to use, many of the patients signed voluntary resignation and then return after the two days provided. Piedmont is in first place in the standings with 1972 sales of packs sold. Followed by Puglia (991), Liguria (718) and Tuscany (701). A strike of more attention, said Durini, is the "delay" of Lazio and Lombardy, which together account for more than a third of all abortions according to the national Law 194. Yesterday in Turin radicals demonstrated outside the palace of the Piedmont region in Piazza Castello to ask "for an end to the fiction of the double-hospitalization." In radical style all dressed as Santa Claus are presented with sacks full of boxes of RU486. The initiative has been branded "bad taste" by the deputy leader of the PDL in the regional council, Augusta Montaruli. Beyond the provocation, it is hoped that the new government and new Minister bring our country up to the other European weights . The radicals have chosen a way to highlight this glaring problem that affects the daily life and the suffering of women. MD IN ARGUMENT: Abortion: the pharmacological method, the abortion pill RU486

"By reading the story, and adults and young listeners may know each other better and more authentic - explains Fulvio Scaparro psychotherapist - Adults and children can make an excursion into the world of the other, telling a tale, recounting their experiences, reading stories or building. "

Various institutions that have joined, as the City and the University of Verona and the Veneto region. The project was then expanded with specific lines dedicated to children with intellectual disabilities, those in the hospital with the account to reduce stress and isolation of admission, and children of immigrant families to facilitate their integration. "Our classes are increasingly multiethnic - he explains - Just think that 5-6 years ago, children with foreign parents were 20%, and today there are about 35-38%. The reading, which is a specific task and fun at the same time, it is a very effective tool to communicate with them and let them know the Italian language, "said Scaparro. The initiative was sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline as a project of social responsibility.

FOCUS FOR AGE - The Venetian project developed in the nursery has had as its focus the two age groups, children under 4 years, and those of 5-6 years. Depending on the age were chosen several books, preferring those cardboard, colors and personalities known for smaller, more articulate and choosing stories for older children. The stories were first told by teachers with also the help of puppets and dolls and the book before, and then children were asked to repeat it. "So we were able to focus on them - said Barini Anita, a teacher of Kindergarten 'Village Trieste' Cerea (Vr) - on terms related to identity, body, clothing, home and school, teach them differences between male and female, singular and plural, and if necessary correct your grammar. " Were also involved parents, allowing them to participate, along with the children after school hours, in meetings on how to use the reading. "They came many Muslim mothers - ends - Romanians and Albanians, who have appreciated it, because they feel involved and not feel left out."

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND PINOCCHIO Most Read - Despite computers, video games and movies in 3D when it comes to books wins the tradition, at least among children and young Italians today as 10 years ago. Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio are in fact the headlines, with 75% of readers, as noted by a survey presented by Massimo Sumberesi in Verona, general manager of Doxa Advice. The survey was presented with a shortlist of 10 titles, chosen from among the best-seller charts, signs of mothers and teachers, a sample of 500 persons, of which 50% of parents with children between 9 and 14 years and 50% young people aged between 15 and 24 years, to make a comparison between the books read by those who were children 10 years ago and who he is today. Thus emerges today as yesterday, the two most popular titles are Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio by Collodi, with 75% of readers. Then the ranking changes. If the little prince is 3 / or place (63.4%) for teenagers, that is, children 10 years ago, today there is for children of Alice in Wonderland (63.2%). In the readings of children 4 to 10 years ago / or place there is the boy wizard Harry Potter, followed by the heroine of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, Gulliver's Travels by Swift, Heart of De Amicis, The Secret Garden Francis H. Burnett, the film The Chronicles of Narnia, and Matilda of Roal Dhal. For today's children, as reported by parents, there is the 4 / Harry Potter, or place, followed by The Little Prince, Gulliver's Travels, The Chronicles of Narnia, Heart, Matilda and The Secret Garden.
"The tendency is to be conservative - says Massimo Sumberesi, Director General of Doxa Advice - in fact, are the parents of children that affect the readings, based on their past experiences. "

ALREADY STARTED READING HIGH VOICE TO 6 MONTHS - Read aloud to children, even for a few minutes a day is good, contributes to their mental development and prevents learning disabilities, especially those living in disadvantaged environments. For this they should start as early as six months of life. "Reading aloud to the child must begin in the early periods of life, from the sixth month - says Giampietro Chiamenti, regional secretary FIMP (Federation of Italian pediatricians) Veneto - with books appropriate toy." And to confirm the usefulness of reading to prevent learning problems in difficult situations, Chiamenti recalls the results of recent research conducted in the United States. "We have seen that a child who lives in a family hardship - precise - listen in one hour on average 616 words, hear 5 affirmations and 11 prohibitions receives. If the home is better, listen to the words in an hour quadruple offering greater incentives, the statements are 9 times more numerous and the prohibitions are halved. The story, in this sense, it can become a great tool for better physical and mental growth. " Ideally, therefore, is to read aloud or tell the child at six months. You do not need to spend hours reading, according to experts, it takes even a few minutes every day to build a relationship based on the book as a tool for growth.

They arrive in the new field of medicine. During the XLVIII National Congress of the "Italian Society of Rheumatology, held in Rimini, has been much talk of two serious diseases: rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma.

During the meeting, researchers discussed the possibility of fielding a "pre-tests" could therefore predict that today these diseases appear to be quite disabling.

But what is rheumatoid arthritis? It 'a chronic disease that lasts. Arthritis affects the "synovial membrane" that ignites.

Over time you get to the gradual erosion and bone destruction. According to recent data from rheumatoid arthritis primarily affects women, particularly in the age group ranging from 35 to 50 years.

2011-11-26T21:14:00.001-08:00

It's called Perth, Australia, and is put to sleep up to 4 million people. The flu has arrived, with a little 'earlier than expected. The first case was isolated in Genoa, where a 40 year old man was admitted to hospital.

A flu epidemic is not yet, but on the contrary, para influenza virus that preceded it will cause high fever, classic symptoms of pain and discomfort worth seasonal. The vaccine is ready and available in pharmacies: a virus trivalent going to cover all three viruses identified to date.

The fact will be provided for the H3N2 viruses, H1N1 and B / Brisbane. These things have already made a lot of infections in Northern Europe, particularly in Norway. As usual the advice of experts and the Ministry of Health is to provide the vaccine for what concerns those at risk: children, elderly and sick.

At Christmas, as I said, there could be up to 4 million Italians in bed, to see which could ruin the holidays. But the real peak is scheduled for late January-early February, when the temperature is too rigid will do the rest.

Adipotide: The Pill That Destroys Fat Cells

2011-11-26T21:12:00.001-08:00

Adipotide, a pill that will continue to help you lose weight, stop the blood supply to vital tissues and prevents the oxygen and nourishment to the cells. For the corresponding cells, this means death. An American research team at the University of Texas in Houston has now tested this approach to fat cells, with the result that the fat cells died.

The so-called Adipotide have been tested for years in mice. The use of the pill led to a weight loss of around 30 percent. Now it was possible to repeat the same effect also in rhesus monkeys, which tend to fat deposits. The animals lost approximately 11 percent of weight. If we add to this success on an overweight adults, which could mean 10-15 kg body weight. Because the metabolism of rhesus monkeys and humans are very similar, the study's leader, Renata Pasqualini, is optimistic that the drug could be Adipotide pill soon as an alternative for people with weight loss. Already in 2012 a clinical trial in patients with prostate cancer is planned, which have built up too much because of their hormonal depot fat.

Together with co-study leader Wadih Arap Pasqualini worked for many years on the development of cancer drugs, searching a way to stem the obesity of their patients or reversed. While most drugs on the appetite or the absorption of fat in the intestine targeting, the two researchers want to Adipotide directly attach to the fat cells. The side effects are in contrast to previous methods may be significantly lower.

Pasqualini and Arap warn of the dangerous side effects of appetite suppressants. Recently, the European Medicines Agency began an investigation of fat absorption blocker orlistat, which should lead to liver damage due to its ingestion. As early as 2010, the appetite suppressant sibutramine was withdrawn from the market because of the increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

In animal studies with Adipotide only very minor side effects were observed, since the drug is trimmed only on certain blood vessels. The experimental monkeys remained after the researchers alert and attentive. In addition, the therapy does not beat the monkey on the appetite. Only the kidney function values changed easily. After the end of the values are, however, quickly returned to normal, they say.

The former body weight returned to the monkey, however, not immediately return to the starting value. In most animals, the weight loss had continued even several weeks.

Steve Jobs' Affair With Mickey Mouse

2011-11-26T21:10:00.001-08:00

Now it's clear what to do with a part of Jobs' legacy - the secret is out.
Its stock share of the Disney corporation has been transferred to a foundation run by his widow, Laurene Powell.

This is a message out to the public. The shares are currently around 4.6 billion dollars (3.5 billion euros) worth.

With a share of 7.7 percent is Jobs' foundation is now the largest single shareholder in Disney.
SALE OF PIXAR

Jobs got 138 million Disney shares, as of 2006, his company bought Pixar Animation Studios.
He even bought the animation studio in 1986 for ten million dollars from "Star Wars" director George Lucas.

With "Toy Story" in 1995 the company achieved an initial success, and Jobs, the IPO was a billionaire. As the first fully computer-animated feature film production with the Special Achievement Award (special Oscar) was awarded the Academy Awards.

And the success story continued: for "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles - The Incredibles," "Ratatouille," "WALL · E - The Last cleans up the Earth," "Up" and "Toy Story 3" was Pixar Oscar in the category "Best Animated Feature Film."
INFLUENCE ON DISNEY
Disney was not only for the purchase of Pixar a profit - even the presence of Steve Jobs paid off for the entertainment giants.
"Jobs had visions in his luggage, because he understood how the changing technology and how it will affect the consumer," said Professor Arvind Bhambri from USC's Marshall School of Business, "Los Angeles Times." "Disney has in recent years begun to reinvent his magic. This is determined along with the purchase of Pixar and Jobs' role in the Disney board, "said Bambhri further.
Even otherwise, the Disney Corporation was technically far ahead ever since: the brand has always been associated with the latest gadgets. By this projection, Disney enter additional profits because the company has suspended its competitors simply.

Brand awareness

Jobs also took a major influence on the brand awareness of the Disney-making power, the "LA Times" reported. True to Apple fashion, he inoculated his board colleagues: "mark on everything, focus on quality."

For the good image of the brand, must be separated by sub-brands Disney, Jobs recommended.
And we listened to the advice of the Apple gurus. Example: 2010 Disney sold "Miramax Films". Under this name, the group also produced strips with violent content. Inappropriate for the Disney brand.

Jobs' Disney shares are with the transition into the Foundation has remained virtually in the family - but whether the spirit of Apple's founder, still blowing in the Disney executive suite is uncertain.

NASA Sends Curiosity To Search For Life On Mars

2011-11-26T21:05:00.000-08:00

Yesterday launched successfully from Cape Canaveral, Curiosity is scheduled to arrive on Mars in mid-August 2012. Also known as the "Mars Science Laboratory" (MSL), this robot weighing 900 kg is by far the heaviest and largest of those made so far to examine the surface of Mars and also the most technically advanced, with ten scientific instruments.

Curiosity is "truly a unique robot with a capacity far beyond anything we've launched to another planet in the solar system," pointed out three days before the launch Colleen Hartman, deputy director of NASA's scientific missions. Has six wheels, it also has a mast with high-definition cameras and a laser to study the targets at a distance of seven meters.

Nancy Elements
The laser needs to be regularly calibrated to ensure proper operation and Curiosity wins so different "calibration targets" that were manufactured in the laboratory by the unit Nancy Geology and Mineral Resources Management and Energy (CNRS / University of Lorraine).
Other instruments to look around and especially to detect molecules of methane, a gas often associated with the presence of life on Earth already detected on Mars in some seasons by an American orbiter Mars. Curiosity, a mission of $ 2.5 billion in total, will also measure the radiation could affect future human exploration of Mars. The robot also has a weather station.
After a journey of 570 million km in eight months and a half Curiosity should land on Mars in August 2012 at the foot of a mountain 5000 feet high inside the crater Gale. With Curiosity Mars, "it's like having virtually over 200 researchers to explore this planet is a dream machine," was recently praised Ashwin Vasavada, a leader of this project.

During his exploration mission scheduled to last two Earth years - one Martian year - the robot, powered by a nuclear generator, will attempt to discover whether the Martian environment could be conducive to the development of its past microbial life. To do this, "Gale offers a superb opportunity to test multiple environments potentially favorable to life," said John Grotzinger, chief scientist of the MSL Institute of Technology in Pasadena California. "In the crater where Curiosity will arise - the temperatures range from 90 degrees to zero - is an alluvial fan alluvial probably formed by sediments transported by water," says he. In addition, "layers of land at the base of the mountain containing the clay and sulphate, known to form in water."
Curiosity to ask on Mars, NASA has invented a new technique, the robot is too heavy to be equipped with air bags cushion the impact expected. After deploying a parachute to slow the initial descent is equipped with a device that deposits retrorockets robot gently on the ground.

Assange will fight until the last instance

In late February, a London court agreed to extradition. Here, the judge had concluded that there was no reason to believe Assange in Sweden will get a fair trial. The 40-year-old Australian has spent the past few months in a virtual house arrest in the estate of a supporter. Assange appeared on Tuesday in a dark suit and with short hair, flanked by supporters in court. Before building a small group gathered with a banner. It could read: ". The first victim of war is truth" The hearing will take two days. Is given to the public this decision, but it can take days or weeks.

Apple Loses To Amazon On The Term 'App Store'

2011-07-11T05:51:00.000-07:00

A federal judge denied Apple's request to stop using the term "App Store" on Amazon and added that the Cupertino company has yet to prove that there is patent infringement of the mark in a trial.

Apple has filed for trademark registration "App Store" in 2008 and was initially rejected. Earlier this year, it received approval, and in July, Microsoft filed a lawsuit saying the term was too generic to be registered. Meanwhile, Amazon announced the launch of its application store, calling it "Appstore for Android."
Apple filed a lawsuit against the company, always saying that the use of "App Store" for two companies would lead users to confuse the two stores. Amazon also said that "App Store" was too generic a brand to be registered and including "for Android" ("Android"), it would likely confuse consumers with its store of Apple.

According to Ars Technica , two weeks ago, Judge Phyllis Hamilton said, after hearing initial arguments of both parties, that Apple's case was weak and she probably would deny the action. After reviewing the documents that Apple and Amazon had submitted, Hamilton concluded that the company lacked evidence to Steve Jobs had shown and what was valid for only two of eight criteria to characterize a patent infringement. So Apple's request was denied.

2011-07-10T06:15:00.000-07:00

The Internet social network Facebook has launched new features yesterday, in partnership with Skype, for its instant messaging system. The goal is to compete with the Google + released a few days earlier.

Communicate in video on Facebook was now possible. Since Wednesday, following a partnership with Skype, the online social network has set up new properties to its instant messaging system. Everyone can chat free with its corresponding video by clicking on a camera icon. Simply being with a webcam. And no need to have as many account Skype . The software loads automatically set up the video call, even if not installed on the computer.

" A few months ago, we started working with Skype to bring video calling on Facebook. We put in the public discussion like that instant all the conversations begin in the same place , "said Philip Su on the company blog. But the timing of the launch calls anyway. Because the novelty of the video telephony service comes just days after arriving in this part of Google +, the experimental Google social network.

Other major steps

But with Google +, the leading search engines have a head start. For among the features presented, the video communication service can be shared by groups of up to ten people. As for now, Facebook does not offer its new service between two parties.

At the launch, Mark Zuckerberg, the president of the community platform, has introduced another new feature: the ability to instantly chat with all members of the same " group "of friends. He also took advantage to claim over 750 million users worldwide (against less than 650 million in February). He hopes to pass the billion mark by the end of the year, recently reached by Google. " The world in general think that social networks will be everywhere. It's a matter of time before this means billions of people, with us or others , "he said. The war of social networks is not ready to end.

Japan Still In Shock After Strong Earthquake

2011-07-10T06:11:00.000-07:00

A strong earthquake of preliminary magnitude of 7.3 struck Sunday the northeast coast of Japan, causing a tsunami warning for several hours on the region made vulnerable since the earthquake and giant wave of deadly 'four months ago.

The coastal residents were asked to evacuate for nearly two hours after the tremor, but did not damage or casualties in the first place.

The quake occurred at 9:57 local time (0:57 GMT), and a tsunami warning has been launched. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Honshu, main island of the Japanese archipelago, about 30 km deep.

The tsunami warning was lifted after the arrival of an initial wave that did not exceed four inches.

March 11, the magnitude 9 earthquake, the largest recorded in the history of Japan, and the tsunami it caused left some 23,000 dead or missing, and triggered a nuclear crisis that has shaken the country. According to authorities, the central Fukushima in the heart of this crisis did not suffer more damage because the quake on Sunday.

US Unemployment Rate Stagnates

2011-07-09T07:19:00.001-07:00

The U.S. growth was weaker: for the second consecutive month, U.S. companies have not created jobs. According to the data of the Ministry of Labour yesterday the new employees were just 18 thousand in the month of June, the worst figure since September, a number far from 125 thousand to analysts who had expected. And above all away from wage increases of 400 thousand new employees should be observed at this stage of recovery, after the stimuli unprecedented both in terms of the tax money.

It was also revised downwards the figure for the previous month, in May the new assumptions were only 25 thousand, half of the 50 thousand who had announced the ministry. The new statistics affect the rate of unemployment, which rose to 9.2 percent, an "unacceptable level" according to the White House. And of course the political danger for Barack Obama. "The private sector - said the president - has created more than two million jobs over the past 16 months. But the recession has cost us eight million people. There is a big void to fill and our economy does not create enough jobs for all who seek Him. "

The finding has surprised experts who expected an acceleration in employment after the setback in May. And yesterday rather have seen profound weaknesses in areas such as construction, finance and the employment agency. On the horizon there are worrying signs in the coming months, some important indicators such as wages and the length of the workweek, which typically grow as companies started to recruit again, are declining.

The average hourly earnings fell by one U.S. cent, to $ 22.99, while in the last 12 months wages rose by only 1, 9 percent. Why? According Omair Sharif, an analyst at Royal Bank of Scotland, companies are afraid to take: "The perception is that the economy runs on the edge and then takes some bad news and the optimism disappears."

Despite this, all places of jobs created in June come from the private sector, 57 thousand, but are not yet many of the more than 200 thousand new jobs in the first half of the year, from February to April. In tow are the field of healthcare, entertainment and hospitality while in the manufacturing sector were added just 5 thousand people. In the public - with many U.S. states face serious budget crisis - employment fell by 39 thousand units, the eighth consecutive drop.

The American economy needs to create at least 150 thousand new jobs a month to keep pace with population growth . The number of unemployed is now estimated at 14.1 million, with 6.3 million who are looking for a place for more than six months.

But for Barack Obama this is not the only problem. The president is struggling with the problem of reducing the federal deficit. Tomorrow there will be another meeting at the White House from key Democrats and Republicans. And maybe the new finding could change the tone of the debate in Washington. With intervention from the Rose Garden of the White House, Obama has asked Congress to extend tax cuts launched last December and to accelerate the passage of commercial agreements and legislative measures that could boost employment, particularly from the banking and infrastructure on patent law. "We must give space to new ideas," said Obama, for whom "the road to recovery is still long."

For the Republicans, however, the weakness in the labor market is a direct responsibility of the President. The Speaker of the House John Boehner pointed his finger at some of the warhorses of Obama as the ban on oil drilling and "too many" rules and regulations which he said cut the legs to entrepreneurs.

Berlusconi Group To Pay $560 Million To Rival Company

2011-07-09T06:34:00.000-07:00

In a decade-long dispute over control of the Italian publishing house Mondadori has an appeals court in Milan on Saturday the Fininvest Group of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi ordered to pay damages of 560 million €. The proportion of the compensation amounts to around 540 million euros, making the rest of litigation costs. President of Marina Berlusconi, Fininvest, threatened before the Court of Cassation in Rome reported to the Italian news agency Ansa ziehen.Wie, the sentence is immediately enforceable. The Prime Minister had shown before the verdict was still convinced that the appellate court will not condemn the Fininvest.

Fininvest in the first instance was in October 2009 on payment of 750 million € has been sentenced to the holding company of Carlo De Benedetti, Berlusconi's archrival. De Benedetti's CIR should thus holding company for a verdict of 1991 will be compensated, received with the Fininvest control of Mondadori. In 1997, a court ruled that the former judge's decision "bought" was was - Berlusconi was never prosecuted because of the lapse. The holding of Berlusconi's archrival De Benedetti include the daily newspaper "La Repubblica" and the weekly magazine "L'Espresso", which are among the few anti-government media in Italy.

The verdict must be implemented immediately, even if Berlusconi had said a few days ago, to De Benedetti, he would never pay, he would rather donate the money. Also in the austerity package adopted a week ago, the judiciary plagued prime minister had taken up a scheme whereby such high compensation in the future would not have been possible. Under pressure from the opposition and critics from within its own ranks who have already spoken of tailor-made "Lodo Fininvest", the clause was stricken from the decree.

Pro-Palestinian Activists Try To Seize Plane

2011-07-08T09:02:00.000-07:00

Several pro-Palestinian activists trying to reach the international airport of Tel Aviv were prevented from flying into European airports, and six others were evicted Friday shortly after arriving in Israel .

The militants say they want to conduct a peaceful mission in the West Bank to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. Israel, which controls access to the West Bank, fear of new incidents with foreign militants from an Israeli assault against Gaza flotilla in which nine Turkish citizens were killed in May 2010.

Hundreds of militants had planned to arrive at the Ben-Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv from Thursday and until this weekend. Israel has deployed hundreds of police at the airport and asked foreign airlines to prevent people on a list drawn up by Israel to embark on flights to Israel.

At Israel's request, several companies have prevented a total of 200 people in Europe to board flights to Israel, said Micky Rosenfeld, spokesman for the Israeli police. "The companies have not allowed to fly because we told them clearly that they could not enter Israel," he said.

At the airport Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle, many people were turned away check-in counters, and demonstrators later gathered at the terminal, shouting "Boycott Israel." Cynthia Beatt, a British woman living in Germany who wanted to travel in the West Bank, told the Associated Press have been prevented from boarding a Lufthansa flight on Friday morning in Berlin.

In Geneva, 40 people were prevented from boarding a flight to Tel Aviv EasyJet at the request of Israeli authorities, said Adrian Fuhrer, spokesman for the company to lower costs.

Israeli Minister of Public Safety, Yitzhak Aharonovitch said at Ben-Gurion that the list of pro-Palestinian activists denied entry to Israel included 340 names. According to the organizers of the mission in the West Bank, about 600 people had to travel.

Six militants who managed to land Friday in Israel were expelled in the afternoon, said Aharonovitch.

Awaited the arrival of militants, mostly from Europe, has no connection with the "Freedom Flotilla", who wants to send humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip despite the naval blockade imposed by Israel, but whose vessels are currently blocked in Greece by local authorities.

The militants say they want to travel in the West Bank in solidarity with the Palestinians, and some wish to participate in events organized every week against Israel in East Jerusalem and West Bank. All activities will ensure that their non-violent.

Two Sofitel Employees Turned Down DSK Advances

2011-07-08T08:59:00.000-07:00

The night before his arrest, Dominique Strauss-Kahn would be invited, separately, two employees of the Sofitel Hotel in Manhattan to join him in his suite. Women, who confirmed the story to the police, writes the New York Times, said they had both declined the invitation that evening.

The newspaper also reported that same night of May 13 to 14, the former head of the IMF was filmed by a video camera at the Sofitel in the process of "getting into an elevator to 1:20 with a woman who was not working at the hotel ". The woman, who was identified, "refused to answer questions from investigators," says the New York Times, citing a police source said on condition of anonymity. Investigators wanted to know the particular purpose of his visit. The daily said that the next morning at 9:24, DSK ordered breakfast for one person. A few hours later, that same Saturday, after a complaint from a woman in hotel room accusing him of crimes Sex, Dominique Strauss-Kahn was arrested by New York police as he was about to take off for Paris. Imprisoned and under house arrest, he was paroled on July 1. The holding of a trial also seems now highly compromised. The maid of Sofitel, Nafissatou Diallo, an alleged victim of DSK, was left overnight discredited by the prosecutor's office, having lied about his past.
