Draw box Tutorial

Drawer Box
by Holly McMillen

Create an adorable box with a drawer to hold cards or other goodies.

Supplies

One 8 1/2" x 7" piece of heavy cardstock or lightweight chipboard (drawer)

One 9 1/16" x 6 1/16" piece of heavy card stock or lightweight chipboard (Part A)

One 9 1/8" x 6 1/8" piece of heavy card stock or lightweight chipboard (Part B)

Paper cutter with scoring blade

Sticky tape or other strong adhesive

1/2" circle punch

Hole punch

Scissors

Stamps, paper and embellishments to decorate the box

Step-by-Step

Step 1

Score the 8 1/2" x 7" piece of cardstockon each side at 1 1/4".

Step 2

Cut up to the score lines on all four sides as shown.

Step 3

Fold tabs and apply sticky tape to the back of them. Form into a box bottom.

Step 4

Using the 1/2" circle punch, punch a 1/2"circle in the front of the drawer and set aside.

Step 5

Score at 1 1/2" on both short sides and at 1 1/2" on one of the long sides of both Part A and Part B.

Step 6

On Part A (which will nest inside), cut in on each side at the score line to the interior score line.

On Part B (which will nest outside), cut up on the two bottom score lines to the interior score line.

Apply sticky tape to the tabs and fold both pieces in to form an open ended box.

Step 7

Apply sticky tape to the interior walls of the Part B (slightly larger piece).

Step 8

Slide the smaller piece (Part A) into the larger (Part B) and press together.

Step 9

Slide the drawer into the box and it is ready to decorate.

Note:

Lightweight chipboard works well - you can use the backing to the 12 x 12 designer paper packs.

If you use regular weight chipboard, adjust Part B to measure 9 3/16” x 6 3/16”, but keep the score lines the same. This will allow for the slightly thicker paper.

Fun tip:

When made with the lightweight chipboard, you can stack the boxes for storage of Nestabilities™ or other supplies.

Step 10

Decorate the box and create matching cards.

This box holds up to 10 cards (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and envelopes.

Corner Bookmark Tutorial

Corner Bookmark

Craft Supplies you will need

Score board and score tool (I used the Houghie board)
Large Scalloed edge punch (mine is 3")
Edge punch or border die (I used Martha Stewart doily punch)
Pencil
Paper trimmer
Double sided tape and glue

Step 1

Card stock and Measurements

Card stock cut to 4" x 4" square (if you prefer you could make the square bigger or smaller)
2x Squares cut to 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” (cut one out of card stock and the other from your chosen design paper).
If you make your square bigger or smaller you will need to adjust your smaller square. To do this just measure your diagonal score mark this will give you the size of your smaller square.

Step 2

Mark three sides of your 4" square at 2 inches.

Step 3

Score your lines from mark to mark

Step 4

The two smaller 2 ¾” squares, cut them both diagonal to end up with two triangles..

Step 5

Use your punch or die to shape the bottom edge of the base of your bookmark..

Step 6

Using one of your design paper triangles, glue to the front.

Step 7 & 9

Measure from the bottom edge of the triangle to the top edge of your shaped border. Cut a piece of card stock and decorate. I used distressing inks to add some colour to my edges.

Step 8

Glue to the front and add ribbon.

Step 9

Follow step 8 this is for the back of your bookmark to hide the ribbon edges.

Step 10

Use double sided tape to secure the two flaps at the back. Then add the other card stock triangle to hide the gap. Decorate with the remaining design paper triangle.

Step 11

Add your die cut circle and scalloped edged circle and decorate. For this bookmark I used a digital

Add your chosen embellies and your finished.

3 Sided Easel Card by Angel

Thought i would just share with you a tutorial for the new 3 sided easel card, i see this demo an instantly fell in love with it, been itching to have a go.
The first one i made i could not post as it was for a DT project, so just the excuse i needed to make another one..lol..
Here Goes.. THIS IS A LONG POST!!!!

YOU WILL NEED!!

2 sheets of card,
Tool for scoring,
Ruler,
Scissors,
Pencil,
Bone Folder,
Decorative papers,
Images,
Embellishments.

STEP 1.
Take an A4 piece of card, fold an score lengthways at 4 inches.

STEP 2.
Once folded in half you will have a few mm spare along the edge, just cut the litte strip off.

STEP 3.
Measure from edge 4 inches, now on the opposite edge do the same 4 inches again.
You will have a slightly smaller square in the middle, with a 4 inch square either side.

STEP 4.
Cut along the 4 inch lines you just measured, only upto the middle fold.
It should look like this.

STEP 5.
The centre square fold ni half, an score like this.

STEP 6.
The 2, 4 inch squares fold up to the centre fold,to create a triangle, then that is it the base for your card is done.
Should look like this..

STEP 7
You now need to make 2, 4 inch squares from card an 1 square for the centre, these are for you to matt an layer, decorate an add your image.

STEP 8.
Go ahead an add papers, ribbons or what you wish to use.

STEP 9.
Only put tape on to the top corners of the 4 inch squares an front facing part of the smaller middle square, like this.

STEP 10.
These are the decorated squares that you need to attach to the base..

STEP 11.
Completed card will look like this.

You will need to tease the card a little to get it to stand forward, i found laying them all down flat an re scoring along the centre fold, will help them stand, add a little embellishment just in front of all 3 squares, like all easel cards you need them there to stand..

Twisted Easel Card

Good morning, what a beautiful sunrise we had here today. I wanted to share with you a link for the twisted easel card that I have been making recently..

Flower Tutorial 1

Flower Tutorial 1

Craft items you will need

·       Tim Holtz Tattered flowers Bigz die from Sizzix
·       Embossing mat or something spongy ( I used a sponge mat that is used for stamps)
·       A big ball embossing tool and something that has a round end (I use the end of a large glue pen)
·       Distressing Ink
·       Small stamps
·       Copics, pencils etc
·       Glitter or Stickles
·       Light weight card
·       Memento ink
·       A wet glue (I use Glossy accents or a glue gun)

Step 1 

Cut out 4 medium flowers and 4 small flowers (you can use any flower puncher you have just as long as it has 6 petals or more).

You can add as many flowers as you like.  I just like to use no more than nine.

Step 2 
Stamp your chosen image on the front and back of all the flowers (if you use copics you need to use Memento Ink).

Using  your distressing inks, ink up the front and back and colour with your chosen medium.

Step 3

Cut into the flower but only slightly just so the petals have a

 slight give.

Step 4

Start with your large embossing tool and gently move in circles starting at the edge of the petals, working towards the centre.    The effects you want to get are the petals starting to curl inwards. 

Now using the large round end of a pen or something similar, work in circles in the centre to make the petals lift even more.  

Step 5

Emboss each flower until they look like this

Step 6

Now comes the fun part,
to assemble start with the one of the large flowers and dab a small amount of glue in the centre and stack the  large flowers on top of each other alternating the petals.   

Step 7

Next assemble the small flowers together so you end up with two bundles of flowers.  

Step 8

Use a dab of glue on the bottom of the small bunch of flowers and stick inside the larger bunch.

Step 9

This is what you should end up with. Add glitter or stickles if you like and your done.
