For roughly 550.00 this can hardly be beat for a small laptop that has
windows 8 and a touchscreen. At first I was a little aggravated with
the touch pad but, I installed the drivers from Samsung's website that
are supposed to be for a series 5 laptop. This laptop along with
several others have the same Elan touch pad in them. Once you install
this driver it is a night and day difference in the touchpad.

If
you have the sorry Asus Smart Gesture installed, uninstall that first
and reboot, then install this software. I have had various Macbooks for
the better part of the last 7 years and this is my first PC laptop in a
while. I was almost ready to return this laptop until I found these
drivers. I would say the touch pad is 95% of a Macbook touch pad now
and whether you like Apple or not, you have to admit they know what they
are doing when it comes to track pads. Aside from all of that I'm
extremely happy with the operation of this laptop now.

I am
coming from a laptop that had an SSD drive in it so it does seem a
little slow in some areas but, others it is working just fine. I have
an extra SSD drive that I plan on putting in this machine as well as
removing the half height mini PCI atheros wireless/bluetooth combo. I
purchased an Intel Centrino 6235anhmw Mini Pci Express Bluetooth 4.0 to
replace it with and based on my research I should be able to enable
Intel Wireless Display on this laptop after that install. The card only
cost me 30.00 bucks and I figured it was worth the gamble to see if it
would work. I'll update this review once I get the card in a couple of
days to state if it worked or not.

The sound coming from this laptop is actually quite good and I would say better than a lot of the previous laptops I am use to.

The
touchscreen is extremely responsive and I haven't had any missed
touches or erratic behavior out of it. I have played several touch
based games and it worked flawlessly.

Last but, not least this thing is solid, the build quality on it is exceptional for something this cheap.

Okay, now for the bad which again considering this is a cheap laptop with a touchscreen really isn't that bad.

The
fan runs constantly and while it is not overly annoying it does seem to
run even when not doing much on the system. That is really my main
complaint about the machine at this point. The second complaint is that
the viewing angles on this machine are pretty poor but, again don't
expect any machine at this price point with a touchscreen to have great
viewing angles. Although viewing angles are bad, brightness is very
good. I think with the brightness turned all the way up you could
possibly do permanent damage to your eyes(a joke of course).

The
keyboard is a little cramped but, really not all that bad. I would say I
have slightly above average hand size but, again it isn't to bad and
I'm able to kick out a reasonable speed without to many more mistakes
than I usually make. Expect some adjustment if you are coming from a
full size keyboard with large hands.

Again, the stock hard drive
is a 5400rpm drive and it does seem a little slow for me but, if you are
coming from another mechanical drive then you may not really notice it
as a problem. I've been using SSD drives for some time so it does
bother me a bit.

These might be major problems for others but,
for me they are minor annoyances that I can live with on a cheap machine
like this. This is basically an 11.6" Macbook Air that is missing the
SSD(entry level is 64GB SSD), backlit keyboard, viewing angles aren't as
good for the ASUS and fan runs more often than Macbook Air. However
the Macbook Air doesn't have these features: touch screen, 500GB HDD
that can be upgraded to a small or large SSD if you like and the Air
cost about 450.00 more for the entry level. Granted the Macbook Air is
considerably lighter but, it also makes your wallet lighter.

Sorry
for all of the Macbook comparisons but, I have come from many years of
having Macbooks and decided with Windows 8 to give PCs a try again. I'm
glad I did.

I installed the Intel wireless
card I mentioned above, then installed the latest drivers for the card
from the Intel website as well as the latest video drivers from the ASUS
website. Then I installed the Widi display software and was able to
connect to my Belkin Screencast. It took several tries and then it
finally updated the software on the Belkin. After that it has been
connecting perfectly with no problems. So I paid 40 bucks on Amazon for
a refurbished Belkin Screencast and 32.00 for the intel card. Now for
72.00 bucks I'm able to use my 55" HDTV at 1080p as a second screen.

I
finally got around to installing an SSD drive and replacing the
mechanical drive. The drive that came in it was a Hitachi HTS5450A7E380
which is a 7mm thick drive. Unfortunately the SSD I had was a typical
9.5mm and was too thick to work at first. Luckily I was able to remove
part of the casing on the SSD drive I used and that made for a perfect
fit. So if you plan on swapping out for an SSD make sure it is no
thicker than 7mm or it won't fit. I had some trouble where the laptop
kept booting into the BIOS. when I went in and disabled fast boot as
well as turned of drive security or something like that. I can't
remember exactly now but, when the option is enabled you can go further
into the BIOS and see PKI keys and DDB keys and a lot of other keys. I
just disabled that portion and then it started recognizing the hard
drive. This may not be a problem if you clone the hard drive to the SSD
before you swap but, I did a fresh install. Laptop is blazing fast now
as it boots into windows in about 10 seconds.

------------------------------------------

I'm an IT professional, and have dealt with a few ASUS laptops, which I now prefer to Dell.

If you take remove the 9 phillips screws on the bottom, you have access to some of the internal components.
You will need to tug a little, as the case is still held in place by little plastic clippies all around.
You might break a nail, so be careful.

MEMORY:
The memory is soldered into the board, so 4GB is all you will ever have. Period.

DISK DRIVE:
The
HDD is a Hitachi HTS5450A7E380 (7mm 2.5") and can be replaced with
another "Low Profile" 7mm SSD or HDD. You simply remove 3 screws that
hold the cage in (the 4th screw is already removed from removing the
back panel), remove the cage, remove 4 screws holding drive in cage,
replace with a SATA II/III drive. (It is a SATA 3 6.0 GB/s connection).

I
recommend the Samsung 840 series, as they are 7mm 2.5" and very low on
power usage. When you remove the old HDD, it has a plastic backing glued
on it with two rubber foam strips.
Don't worry with removing it from
the old HDD. An SSD doesn't need the shock absorption and will be
mounted securely with the screws.

WIRELESS:
The Atheros AR5B225 Half Mini PCIe WiFi/Bluetooth 4.0 module is replaceable.
I am replacing mine with Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 so I can use WiDi and Dual Band Wifi.
It
was as easy as removing the two antenna wires from the Atheros, popping
in new card, reattaching two antenna wires to the Intel 6235.

BATTERY:
The 5136 mAh 2 cell battery is replaceable, albeit proprietary. Not sure what this means for the future.

MY GENERAL OPINION OF THE LAPTOP and Windows 8:

I
have been using Windows 8 at work for a bit, and as an OS, it's hard
and confusing with a dual monitor desktop power user setup (as I have no
need for the Metro interface there, and I feel like I'm fighting it). I
had to tweak it to get my start menu back (Open source utility called
"Classic Start"). However, with a touch screen laptop, it is very easy
to use. I've been thoroughly been enjoying it as a tablet replacement.
I admit, I did install an SSD in it, and it is SO much more responsive
now (and shaved some ounces on weight as well has dropping at least a
watt of power draw). I also have access to a Windows 8 volume license
key, and mine is running Windows 8 Enterprise.

First thing you'll notice about this excellent PDA is the brilliant
screen. The resolution is 640x480 and it looks spectacular. Movies and
games look absolutely great and text is very easy to read. The system
itself is very fast, (other than boot up after a soft reset, which takes
10-20 seconds) and the Windows Mobile 5.0 is a welcome addition. No
longer do you have to worry about losing your data because the battery
died.

It has both a Compact Flash and SD slot for expanded
memory. Dell includes a host of software on the system as well as more
on the included discs. Everything you need from word processing to
powerpoint, even 3D games is included, (not all software is free, some
is trial). And speaking of 3D capabilities, the X51v is no slouch. The
624 MHz version plays anything you throw at it. Quake Mobile runs
perfectly on this machine and looks fantastic doing it. The overall 3D
capabilities are just outstanding.

The design and feel are great
and the buttons on the side are well placed. There is a voice record
button as well as as a wireless access button. The directional pad on
the unit could be a tad more intuitive, but the only need for that is
games. The unit is solidly built and feels that way.

Overall I think the X51v is a very capable machine and quite possibly the best PDA on the market.

-------------------------------------------------------

I have to say that this is a truly usable PDA finally. Before WM5, the
risk of data loss is totally rediculous and unworthy. Now with WM5, the
ROM works as a harddrive and whala, no more data loss.

However,
it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you update and fix the MS activesync
problem before you can enjoy the solid-build X51. it is still
unbelivable for me that Dell and Microsoft failed to fix this problem
before shipping x51/x51v out to customers. The ROM update is not
necessary. Simple set activesync to be manually lauched instead of the
default automatic update. All the problems with battery drain, CF card
missing and white screen of death just disappeared. With my casual use, a
fully charged battery lasts over a week. I use it as my digital diary,
calculator, game console, dictionary, media/file portable storage, and
lot more. Absolute worth every penny of it. However, one flaw is that
the bluetooth stack does not work with wireless headphones (any tips?).
Otherwise, it can also be dubbed as a wireless phone/MP3 player.

I
owened this unit for almost a year and now I regret I did not choose
the wifi and vga version (x51v). I only had to replace the battery last
month after almost one year of use, which maybe due to my constant
recharge eveytime I sync with my PC. Now I am thinking about getting the
extra wifi card so I can use it as a wifi phone with Skype. Better yet,
now there are third-party larger capacity batteries available and I
found one 1800 mah battery that can fit with Dell's leather case.
Perfect!

Overall this is a perfect unit, and I would recommend
everyone to get x51v instead of x51. The extra money is definitely worth
it.

Update:
I called Dell today and just realized that the
battery is still under waranty, but they want me to return the old one.
So remeber to keep the bad battery otherwise you might need to pay for
it! Another annoyance was that it kept warning me that the battery latch
was open and the pda needs to be turned off to keep data safe. I found a
fix on Aximsite. Just put a tiny drop of nail polish to the small
button on the left hole for the pins on the battery cover. This will
increase the thickness of the button and kept it firmly pushed down by
the cover pins.

Product Description

Mac mini features third-generation Intel Core processors, faster
integrated graphics, Thunderbolt, and plenty of ports. Expect big
things. With third-generation Intel Core processors, Mac mini keeps up
with computers twice its size. You can choose a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel
Core i5. Or go for an even more powerful 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
for up to two times the performance of the previous-generation dual-core
Mac mini. When you're using processor-intensive applications, Turbo
Boost 2.0 increases the clock speed up to 3.6GHz. Hyper-Threading lets
each core run two threads, so OS X multitasks even more efficiently. And
an integrated memory controller connects fast 1600MHz memory directly
to the processor, so it gets right to work on your data. In short, Mac
mini is a little box of vroom. Intel HD Graphics 4000 delivers up to 65
percent more pixel-pushing performance than the previous generation of
integrated graphics. So the video you watch and the games you play are
smoother and more responsive. Flipping through photo albums is a breeze.
And you've got all the power you need to edit your HD video into a film
worthy of a red carpet premiere.

Customer Reviews

I'm an IT professional and I've been a computer enthusiast since the
days of the Atari 400 (circa 1980). To date I have never been as
impressed with a desktop computer as I am with the late 2012 Mac Mini.
It's fast. It's refined. It's quiet. It's sleek. It's solid. The
thing is just beautiful to behold. OS X 10.8.2 is a delight to work
with. And, if you really need to, this little machine runs Windows far
better than any PC I've ever owned.

This machine runs
spectacularly right out of the box, but I knew that I could squeeze even
more out of it for a little more money, so for another $300, I "maxed
it out" by replacing the 1TB HDD with a Samsung 830 series 256GB SSD and
bumping the memory from 4GB to 16GB ('Crucial' brand memory works great
in Macs). By the way, bumping the memory to 16GB also yields an extra
256MB video RAM - not sure how that works, but I'll take it. Now the
thing just screams. I bought a 2.5" USB 3.0 SATA enclosure here on
Amazon to put the original HDD into, so now I have a handy little
portable terabyte that I can carry around with me in case I want to
transfer mass data to...whatever. I'm also using the original drive to
back up the Mini via OS X's built-in "Time Machine" backup utility.
Works like a charm.

I'm running my new Mini on two 24" Dell
Ultrasharp monitors. Fantastic. I'm also using the Apple wireless
Magic Mouse (another Apple gem) and a full-size Apple USB keyboard that
came with my 2008 (or so) iMac. Since the new Mini's don't have optical
drives, I also bought a Samsung SE-506 Blu-Ray burner (I don't like the
Apple USB SuperDrive because there is no activity light or eject
button). I love this setup.

I suppose it should be noted that
the 2012 Mini's have integrated Intel 4000 GPU's, and I don't think
there's any way to add any video hardware, so this might not be the
right choice for core gamers or pro video editors. If you're not one of
those, I cannot recommend this machine highly enough.
-------------------------
-------------------------
When this new Mac Mini was announced this week, I wondered if I should
upgrade my 2011 Mini. However, when I saw that I could get a solid quad
core processor in the mid-level Mini, I jumped. In terms of
appearance, this year's Mac Mini looks exactly like last year's. The
only differences are internal. Here are the big differences between the
2011 and 2012 Mac Mini: (1) the processors are faster (as you would
guess); (2) the mid-level Mac Mini now comes with a very fast quad core
processor instead of a dual core; (3) the USB ports have been updated to
USB 3 (which is much faster than USB 2); and (4) all models of the 2012
Mac Mini come with an integrated graphics card; there is no option for
getting a discrete graphics card like last year (more on this later).

Both
the mid-level Mac Mini and the server version have the same quad core
processor, but the entry level Mac Mini is still a dual core. Why stick
with a dual core processor desktop when you can have one with a quad
core processor? So I got the mid-level model because I don't need a
server, and other than the server's two hard drives, the mid-level Mini
and the server model are exactly the same (e.g., same processor and same
graphics card).

More on the graphics card: as noted earlier,
ALL of the Mac Minis this year come with an integrated Intel HD 4000
graphics card. This is a much better card than last year's Intel HD
3000 graphics card, although some might want a discrete card for gaming.
One thing I noticed about the Intel HD 4000 card in this year's Mac
Mini is that it gives you 512 mb of video ram with only 4 GB of RAM
installed. To my knowledge, all other Apple computers need at least 8
GB of RAM installed to get 512 mb of video ram from the HD 4000 card.
This is a nice surprise. When I noticed this, I thought beef up the RAM
to 8 GB and see if that increases the video ram--and it does.
Installing 8 GB or more of RAM in this year's mid level Mac Mini (and I
assume the same is true for the server Mini since these two machines are
nearly identical) gives you 768 mb of video ram. I'd be willing to bet
Apple increased the amount of maximum video ram from the HD 4000 card
in this year's Mac Mini to compensate for removing the discrete graphics
card option.

How does the new mid-level Mini perform? Well, I
installed an SSD drive and 8 GB of RAM, and this thing just screams.
Everything happens almost instantaneously when I click the mouse. No
rainbow wheels, and one bounce at most from icons in the dock (often
there is no bounce at all since things happen so fast). I compared my
upgraded Mac Mini to last year's 27 inch iMac, and my Mac Mini seems
much faster and snappier. Finally, Apple is starting to give the Mini
some long overdue respect. The Mini is now becoming a machine people
WANT instead of SETTLE FOR. To me, upgrading to this year's Mac Mini is
well worth it.

The Apple Mac mini packs even more power,
thanks to the latest dual-core and quad-core Intel processors. It also
comes with integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, Thunderbolt, USB 3, and OS
X Mountain Lion--the latest release of the world's most advanced

This
version of the Mac mini (model MD388LL/A) features a 2.3 GHz Intel Core
i7 quad-core processor as well as 4 GB of RAM (expandable to 16 GB) and
1 TB of hard drive storage (see full specifications below). It also
comes with the iLife software suite, which includes the latest versions
of iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand.

Key Features

Small Footprint, Excellent Versatility

The
Mac mini features a precisely constructed unibody enclosure that even
houses its own integrated power supply into the 7.7-inch square aluminum
enclosure (that's also 1.4 inches thin)--eliminating the need for an
external power brick. Additionally, the Mac mini helps contain your
environmental footprint with a 10 watt power consumption.

Despite
its smaller size, the Mac mini offers a full range of ports for
connecting to your existing peripherals--from keyboards and mice to
external hard drives and displays (via the Thunderbolt and HDMI ports).
And when you're ready to add more memory, the Mac mini's bottom
removable panel makes the upgrade process a breeze.

Revolutionary Thunderbolt Technology

Developed
by Intel with collaboration from Apple, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O
(input/output) technology delivers an amazing 10 gigabits per second of
transfer speeds in both directions. Built into the Mac mini, the
Thunderbolt port allows you to connect to new Thunderbolt-compatible
peripherals as well as existing USB and FireWire peripherals using
simple adapters. You'll be able to move data up to 20 times faster than
with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800, and
you can daisy-chain up to six high-speed devices without using a hub.
Thunderbolt also supports DisplayPort for high resolution displays and
works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI, and VGA displays.

USB 3

With
USB 3 built into the Mac mini, you can connect your external hard drive
and transfer large files in seconds instead of minutes. Every Mac mini
comes with four USB 3 ports--with speeds up to 10 times faster than USB
2--and you can connect all your USB-compatible devices, including your
iPhone, iPad, iPod, or digital camera.

Intel HD Graphics 4000

Intel
HD Graphics 4000 delivers up to 65 percent more pixel-pushing
performance than the previous generation of integrated graphics. So the
video you watch and the games you play are smoother and more responsive.
Flipping through photo albums is a breeze. And you've got all the power
you need to edit your HD video into a film worthy of a red carpet
premiere.

What's in the Box

Mac mini, HDMI to DVI adapter, power cord, printed and electronic documentation
Note:
The Mac mini does not come with an optical drive, however OS X Mountain
Lion offers the convenient DVD or CD Sharing feature, which lets you
wirelessly "borrow" the optical drive of a nearby Mac or PC. So you can
install applications from a DVD or CD and have full access to an optical
drive without having to carry one around. Additionally, you can connect
an optional optical drive (such as the Apple USB SuperDrive) via one of
the USB ports.

Limited Warranty And Service

The Mac
mini comes with 90 days of free telephone support and a 1-year limited
warranty, which can be extended to 3 years with the AppleCare Protection
Plan.

Installed Software

At
the heart of every Mac mini--and every Mac--is OS X Mountain Lion, the
world's most advanced desktop operating system. Since the software built
into every Mac is created by the same company that makes the Mac, you
get a fully integrated system in which everything works together
perfectly. OS X works with the processor in your Mac to deliver the best
possible performance. Power Nap even takes advantage of the Mac
hardware to keep the entire system up to date while it sleeps.

OS X Mountain Lion

Mac
App Store, Safari, Mail, Messages, Calendar, Contacts, Reminders,
Notes, Time Machine, FaceTime, Photo Booth, Game Center, iTunes, and
more

iLife
helps you do more with photos, movies, and music than you ever thought
possible. In iPhoto, you can browse, edit, and share your photos in
stunning new full-screen views. Create epic Hollywood-style movie
trailers from your home video in iMovie. And GarageBand gives you
everything you need to make a great-sounding song--including tools for
keeping your song in perfect rhythm and guitar and piano lessons.

Apple iLife suite

iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand

AppleCare Protection Plan

Because
Apple makes the hardware, the operating system, and many applications,
the Mac is a truly integrated system. And only the AppleCare Protection
Plan gives you one-stop service and support from Apple experts, so most
issues can be resolved in a single call. Extend the complimentary
service and support on your Mac to 3 years from the original Mac
purchase date with the AppleCare Protection Plan. You get direct
telephone access to Apple experts for technical questions, and you get
global repair coverage--including both parts and labor--for your Mac and
select Apple peripherals.

Customer Reviews

I bought this superb 10.1 easy to see tablet for reading emails,
interneting and music, and so much more, which it does perfectly (and I
like it MORE now than when I first purchased it)! (At that time it had
ICS 4.03 and I updated the day received to 4.04) As of January 11, 2013,
Samsung began rolling out the new Jelly Bean 4.1.1 OTA Over the Air
update for both Tab 2 10.1 and Tab 2 7.0 WiFi only models). So I
received my Jelly Bean update January 12, 2013 via over the air all
311MB (large sized upgrade) of it for this tablet. Regarding when you
will receive the Jelly Bean update for your Tab 2 10.1 or 7.0, it may
take time for you to receive it over the air--directly on your tablet as
it has just recently began to update for the tablets).

**If you are
planning on buying a new tablet 10.1, then it may come with Ice Cream
Sandwich, or it may already received the update to Jelly Bean. If not,
you should be able to go in to Settings, About Device, UPDATE...and then
get Jelly Bean.***
----Please see my comments below after this
review and I recently added more comments that tell the differences in
the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update for BOTH this Tab 2 Ten and for the Tab 2
Seven--WiFi Only tablets)---

BEST FEATURES: This tablet's size if
perfect for reading emails, surfing the web, reading my Kindle books,
and more! Although in my opinion, this exceptional Samsung Tablet does
not fully replace a Laptop or Desktop, yet for quick browsing, checking
emails, listening to music and reading ebooks, it is so much more
portable and convenient than lugging around my 17.1" heavy laptop!

Please
note that the NEWEST Adobe Flash Player NO LONGER SUPPORTS Android
Devices in Android Tablets and Phone with ICS or higher! However, in the
below discussion, there are a couple of ways you can install Adobe
Flash Archive. This is not the fault of Samsung, it is an Adobe problem
and since it can be "fixed", I still give this device 5 stars as listed
below the reasons why:

MANY PROS OF THIS TABLET:

Large and easy to read 10.1 inch screen. The colors are vivid and the text and videos are clear.

Jelly Bean update came in on January 11, 2013 for this WiFi only tablet
(which mine is P5113)(superb update, better update than the Jelly Bean
for the 7 inch Tab 2 please see in the below comments why!) To see
comments about Jelly Bean first, sort comments by NEWEST comments as
there are right now 172 comments in this discussion).

Slot for an
micro SD Card. I placed a 32g in mine for music, files etc. And still
have lots of room to add more music and files later. Please see my very
detailed comments below in the discussion regarding the new Jelly Bean
4.1.1 update that IS NOW AVAILABLE OTA for this tablet).

Battery
life is pretty good if I get on and off the WiFi in a reasonable time. I
usually get at least 8 - 10 hours using WiFi on and off. WiFi hogs the
battery!

The tablet runs very fast and it is very responsive in the internet and in apps, music etc.

Music Player (stock) runs fine and it is very easy to place Playlists
on it. Sound is loud enough without headphone, however, I listen to
headphones for music, videos, etc.

Wonderful Kindle Android App and
I downloaded several Kindle books with no problems. Kindle loads fast
and this Tablet is a joy to read a book on either Kindle or any eBook or
PDF booklet.

Installed Maxthon Browser and I like it better, it runs very fast with this tablet.

Screen Shot Button - I use this all the time, especially to capture
things I want to view later from the net, and it is faster than
downloading. Note the screen shot takes a snapshot of whatever is on the
screen as a picture.

All apps I installed run great and fast with no problems.

The tablet feels like it is made well, however, to secure it better, I
bought from Amazon a stand that I set it up in landscape mode and it has
3 positions. Keeps the tablet clean when I am not using it.

So I give this this 6 stars, but take off one total star because of the minor cons listed below.

Price - Reasonable for mid range Tablet with lots of features, speed,
etc. I came close to buying the Galaxy Note 10.1 Tab with 32G but did
not because it was $200 more, not worth it! Glad I chose the Tab 2 10.1
and saved myself $200!

VERY MINOR CONS OF THIS TABLET AND "FIXES":

Uses a propriety USB cable/charger, but I bought extra cable/chargers online to keep an extra.

No headset included (the new Galaxy Tabs DO NOT HAVE A HEADSET
included. However, bought a Samsung headset on Amazon for the Galaxy
Note and it fits this perfectly and has loud sound and very high quality
(it was under 10 dollars). Also, eBay carries genuine Samsung 3.5
headsets as the generics are not that good of quality I have found).

Very small instruction "manual" provided with the tablet, however, I
went to the Samsung site and downloaded the full manual and saved it in
PDF on my laptop for reading anytime I need it. If you want the link for
the manual, let you know in the comments and I will give it to you.

Bottom
line: Would I buy this WiFi only model over again? Yes I certainly
would!!! For me, this WiFi only is perfect for me because I am close to
WiFi 99% of the time when I use this tablet, and for emergencies, I have
data on my much wonderful Samsung Galaxy Note 5 inch smartphone! So if
you are looking for a superb Samsung 10.1 inch tablet and you have great
access to WiFi, this is the one to buy. Note that there is quite a lot
of information regarding how to do many things on this tablet that you
will see in the comments below. And also, if you are to have any
questions or comments, please ask me and I will be happy to answer.
Hope this review has helped you out and thank you for reading it.
Customer Reviews

I purchased both the newly updated 13" MacBook Air and the updated 13" MacBook Pro
the day they were announced at WWDC and released for sale in June 2012.
After using the two machines side-by-side for a couple weeks now, I can
say that the MacBook Air offers superior performance in virtually every
respect to such a degree that I've pretty much stopped using my brand
new MacBook Pro. Of course the Air (which I got factory upgraded to the
2.0 GHz i7 processor and 8GB of RAM) is lighter, slimmer, and sleeker
than the Pro, and yes, it does have a much higher resolution display,
but I was surprised just how much faster the MacBook Air is compared to
the Pro is despite the Air's slower CPU clock speed. The SSD hard drive
on the MacBook Air makes an enormous difference in everything from
casual web browsing to video editing.

Speed and Performance: Advantage MacBook Air

Apart
from the hard drives and port configurations, the technology inside the
machines is virtually identical in both the newly refreshed MacBook Air
and MacBook Pro. Both Pros and Airs come with either i5 or i7 Intel
"Ivy Bridge" processors, Intel HD Graphics 4000, USB 3.0, and
lightning-fast Thunderbolt ports. While the MacBook Air models are at a
disadvantage to the MacBook Pro models in terms of CPU clock speeds, any
performance disadvantage from the processor speed is more than made up
for by the lightning fast performance of the Air's SSD hard drive, which
Apple markets as "Flash" storage. In everyday tasks from gaming to web
browsing to watching Flash movies and editing video, the MacBook Air is
faster significantly faster in virtually every task. The Air boots up in
less than 12 seconds while the Pro takes upwards of one minute.

Screen: Advantage MacBook Air

Once
you get used to the super high resolution 1440 x 900 LED display on the
MacBook Air, the 1280 x 800 back-lit LED display on the MacBook Pro
looks downright grainy and primitive. Simply put, once you get used to a
higher resolution display, the 1280 x 800 display on the 13" MacBook
Pro just isn't acceptable. Even for simple tasks like email or word
processing where you wouldn't think the resolution would matter, the
graphics look grainy and pixelated, which just isn't acceptable for a
pro-level laptop in 2012.

Upgradability: Advantage MacBook Pro

One
major difference that's important to consider between the Air and the
Pro is that the Pro is more flexible and adaptable in terms of
upgradability. With only a screw driver and about 10 minutes of your
time, you can add more memory to the Pro, replace the hard drive, and
even add a second hard drive in place of the optical disc drive. The
Air, on the other hand, is stuck in the configuration you purchase it in
except that you can opt to replace the SSD "Flash" hard drive with a
higher capacity drive. However, both the Air and Pro have USB 3.0 (which
is five times faster than USB 2.0 and backward compatible) and
Thunderbolt (which is ten times faster than USB 2.0), I see no reason to
replace the Air's hard drive any time soon given how cheap external
hard drives are and how fast the connection has become.

Design, Weight, Portability, Battery Life, and Form Factor: Advantage MacBook Air

The
MacBook Air is the most beautiful computer ever produced by man. The
aluminum case is impeccably designed, almost tailored to accommodate the
necessary internal components, while maintaining practical ergonomics.
It's an incredibly thin, svelte, sexy little notebook. The aluminum case
seems sturdy and durable, and its mechanics are very similar to the
time-test unibody construction of the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro, on
the other hand, is a bit of a dinosaur in its bulky circa 2006 unibody.
The Pro is heavier than a half gallon of milk at 4.5 lbs, while the
MacBook Air weighs in at less than 2.9 lbs. Battery life is roughly even
on both machines at anywhere from 4 to 7 hours depending on workload
and settings.

Summary Judgement: Buy the MacBook Air

Simply
put, the guts of the two machines are basically the same, but the Air's
SSD hard drive gives it a tremendously significant boost in
performance. Sadly, the MacBook Pro's 5400-rpm hard drive leaves the
machine unable to capitalize on the newest, most expensive Intel "Ivy
Bridge" i5 and i7 processors that you're paying a $300 premium for in
the newly updated Pros. If you are going to buy a Pro, invest the extra
money and get it upgraded with a SSD hard drive and get an extra
external hard drive if you need additional cheap storage space for
multimedia files. When you also consider the superior display, lighter
weight, increased portability, and lower price of the MacBook Air, it's
hard to find a reason to justify purchasing the current 13" MacBook Pro,
which to me looks like a dinosaur rapidly headed for extinction.

Specs on the models compared:

13"
MacBook Air (mid 2012) factory upgraded to the 2.0 GHz dual core i7
processor and factory upgraded to 8 GB RAM (1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM) with
standard 256 GB SSD ("Flash") hard drive

13" MacBook Pro (mid
2012) with 2.9 GHz dual core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM (1600MHz DDR3L
SDRAM), and 750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
Both feature Intel HD 4000 Graphics, 3.0 USB, Thunderbolt, 802.11n, etc.

Editorial Reviews

The ultimate everyday notebook is better than
ever. The Apple MacBook Air now features the latest Intel processors
and graphics, faster flash storage, and a 720p FaceTime HD camera. All
packed into a notebook that's incredibly thin and light. With up to 60
percent faster graphics performance, it makes everything you do feel
quicker and more fluid than ever. And the latest flash storage is up to
4x faster than a traditional hard drive, making MacBook Air remarkably
responsive.

Now with two USB 3 ports, a Thunderbolt port, and an SD card slot (view larger).

The
MacBook Air also now includes both a high-speed Thunderbolt port and
two USB 3 ports, enabling you to easily connect to external displays and
a wide variety of high performance peripherals.

This version of
the MacBook Air (model MD231LL/A) sports a 13.3-inch high-resolution
display, 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5 dual-core processor, 128 GB of flash
memory storage, 4 GB of RAM, an SD card slot, and up to 7 hours of
battery life (see full specifications below). It also comes with the
iLife '11 software suite, which includes the latest versions of iPhoto,
iMovie, and GarageBand.

Key Features

Intel Core i5 Dual-Core Processing

The
MacBook Air packs plenty of power thanks to the latest Intel Core i5
processor, which features a faster processor, more powerful graphics,
and a memory controller integrated into a single chip. The
third-generation dual-core Intel Core i5 has a 1.8 GHz speed, which can
dynamically accelerate up to 2.8 GHz to match your workload thanks to
updated Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

And with the Intel HD
Graphics 4000 processor, you get up to 60 percent faster graphics. So
the video you watch, the FaceTime calls you make, and pretty much
everything else you do is smoother and more detailed.

The spacious, full-sized keyboard (see larger image).

High-speed Thunderbolt and USB 3 Ports

A
high-speed Thunderbolt port allows the MacBook Air to transfer data at
lightning-fast speeds and connect displays like the Apple Thunderbolt
Display, enabling you to turn this highly portable notebook into a
highly versatile workstation. And with two USB 3 ports, you'll be able
to connect the latest USB 3 devices and access a pipeline that's up to
10 times faster than USB 2.

Because Thunderbolt is based on
DisplayPort technology, you'll be able to connect to a high-resolution
display from the same port. Any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right
into the Thunderbolt port, and you can also connect displays that use
DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA connections with an existing adapter.
You'll also be able to include your display into a daisy-chained set of
peripherals.

Flash Memory Storage

By replacing the
standard spinning hard drive typically found in laptops (as well as
desktop PCs) with flash memory, the MacBook Air delivers an almost
instantaneous boot-up when you open the display, as well as faster
application launches and snappier overall performance. Additionally,
Apple has shed the enclosure that typically surrounds flash memory
(usually about the same size as a standard hard drive), thus giving it a
smaller footprint and helping to decrease the size of the MacBook Air.

Multi-Touch Trackpad

The
Multi-Touch gestures in OS X make everything you do on MacBook Air more
intuitive, direct, and fun. You can pinch, swipe or rotate images on
the display screen with the brush of two fingers, or add more digits for
a four-fingered vertical swipe to open Expose and quickly glance at all
of your open windows.

Integrated HD FaceTime Webcam

You'll
be able to easily connect with friends, family, and business colleagues
using the MacBook Air's HD 720p FaceTime camera, which is integrated
into the thin bezel above the display and features three times the
resolution of the previous FaceTime camera. And with Apple's FaceTime
application, you're not limited to video chats with other Macs--you can
now make video calls to iPhone and iPod touch users.

Backlit Keyboard

The
MacBook Air manages to fit a full-size keyboard that makes typing as
natural as it is comfortable. And the keyboard is backlit, so you can
type with ease in even the dimmest light. A built-in ambient light
sensor detects changes in lighting conditions and adjusts the display
and keyboard brightness automatically.

Installed Software

At the heart of
every MacBook Air--and every Mac--is OS X Mountain Lion, the world's
most advanced desktop operating system. Since the software built into
every Mac is created by the same company that makes the Mac, you get a
fully integrated system in which everything works together perfectly.
OS X works with the processor in your Mac to deliver the best possible
performance. Power Nap even takes advantage of the Mac hardware to keep
the entire system up to date while it sleeps.

OS X
Mountain Lion (includes Mac App Store, Safari, Mail, Messages, Calendar,
Contacts, Reminders, Notes, Time Machine, FaceTime, Photo Booth, Game
Center, iTunes, and more)

iLife helps you do more with
photos, movies, and music than you ever thought possible. In iPhoto, you
can browse, edit, and share your photos in stunning new full-screen
views. Create epic Hollywood-style movie trailers from your home video
in iMovie. And GarageBand gives you everything you need to make a
great-sounding song--including tools for keeping your song in perfect
rhythm and guitar and piano lessons.

iLife (includes iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand)

I would like to come right out and say that this is a great general
usage computer. By general usage I mean that you're using it mostly for
word processing, viewing videos (maybe two or three loading in different
tabs), or maybe a light java scripted web based computer game (like
Farmville or Poker, games on Facebook are fine for this). So now that we
have our target user not an aspiring gamer or CAD user let's talk about
this computer.

It comes preloaded with Windows 8 and has a bit
of a learning curve attached to it. Fortunately this computer is
touchscreen, which makes Windows 8 a lot easier. However, there are a
few times when the curser seems to jump to a different position on the
screen which only seems to happen if I've just been touching then
switched to the finger mouse pad. But it's in a blimp of a second, my
guess is it's simply taking a moment to figure out that you've switched
control, and is calibrating the cursor to the new relative position from
the change over. It's not a problem, I mention it so if you see this
you don't flip out thinking "I've got spyware and someone else just
moved my cursor!" Now if that happens and you're not switching between
the two run your anti-virus or other protocols depending on your level
of computer knowledge. One thing users should keep in mind is that
Windows should be evaluated separately from the computer itself. If you
don't like W8 you'd probably love this computer with W7 or Vista.

On
the physical aspect I'd say this computer is perfect for students,
writers, and other's who prefer to be able to take their computer on the
go with them and aren't planning on making it a main movie computer.
This puppy fits anywhere your tablet will for most part. It's thin and
light compared to other laptops. The touchscreen makes it great for
reading books on. For me as a science major I'll often read technical
articles or books. Some of these are on websites or PDFs, but when your
reading along and there's a diagram referenced that's a bit small
compared to the font zooming in with the touch screen then zooming back
out to continue reading is very nice. So you get some tablet advantages
with the touchscreen, making this laptop excellent as a reading device
if you have a sturdy location to set it and are planning on being there
long enough to where standard boot up times aren't an annoyance. Which
on that topic the computer boots up relatively fast, but nowhere near
those laptops with Solid State Drives (SSD).

Again for the target
audience, the hard drive is plenty at 500GB. I would like to mention
however there is NOT a built in CD/DVD drive. You will need an external
one. So if you want to watch movies on the go you'll need to preload
them or stream them from the web (assuming you'll have WiFi). One
reviewer said his came with an external drive in the box, mine did not.
But that shouldn't be too big a deal as you can come across one on sale
for as low as $30 and pretty standard around $50. The reason they do
this is to make the laptop thinner and lighter.

That being said,
the screen. The screen gives you plenty of light in my opinion, for use
indoors. Outdoors it's a bit dim but still usable. Now I also put on a
Zagg screen protector as I take mine with me a lot. You'd be surprised
how much just little dust particulates will gently mar the screen of
your laptops in general. With this one being touch screen I don't want
these mars there potentially de-functing the sensors so I do recommend
you buy the screen protector. Mine as stated was Zagg, specifically cut
for this computer. I found it was easy to put on as long as you put on a
nice even coat of the applicator solution TO THE PROTECTOR NOT THE
SCREEN.

Another regard for the screen is that if you do want to
watch a movie using the laptop as a source, don't despair. There's an
HDMI out port on the left upper corner to plug into your HDTV. I also
really like that there are two USB ports on this same side and one more
on the opposite side near the headphones jack and card slot. A few USB
devices come out and turn at 90degrees essentially blocking the next
port, so this ensures that if you have one of those devices it doesn't
block you out.

The charging cable is nice too. It doesn't have a
bulky transformer like a lot of laptops, and it's got plenty of length.
As far as battery life goes, it last's around 3+ hours no problem. I
generally always keep mine plugged in, so what's the max and how does it
vary on usage, I don't really know. I mostly am watching educational
videos or typing when using mine.

As far as anything burning out,
I'll have to make that an update when something finally does. I've only
had this computer for about two weeks now. So far it's been good to me
and I anticipate good things. I have a couple friends who were using
ASUS products and their stuff has lasted for quite some time. Sadly many
of them are pretty rough on their machines.

Bottom line, I like
this laptop and recommend it as a general use (not for gamers/CAD
users)and portability focused users. Especially good for sitting down
and really focusing on e-books due to it's touch screen zooming ability
(I've really enjoyed this, can you tell?)

AS AN ASIDE FROM THE COMPUTER'S REVIEW
That
being said I'd like to also note for those of you who seem to have a
lot of hard drive failures on your laptops. Any standard spinning hard
drive needs to NOT be tilted during use, it damages the drive and
reduces the life of your computer. Don't just walk around leasurely
while it's on. Be careful to move it within the same plane (think back
to geometry). Many people seem to not realize this type of treatment is
bad for their computer or they just don't care to exercise the extra
caution. If your either one and say I'll just buy a new laptop after
this one burns our from my tipping and bumping it around while it's on,
don't blame the manufacturer. Also, you may consider buying a SSD
laptop. Since there's no moving parts you can be pretty careless while
it's on like with a tablet or your phone. But those SSD laptops
currently have very small drives and are really expensive. But hey, if
you can afford to buy a new laptop every four or five months maybe it'll
be cheaper for you to go this route.

I'm not trying to be
critical of anyone here, I just want to make sure due blame rests where
it should and help move buyers to what products will suit them best.
Everyone wins when we are educated buyers. To all out there my best
regards.

Customer Reviews

I guess you can call me a gadget freak. I've got a drawer full of
electronic gadgets and gone through numerous inventions of our modern
world. I've owned and used three generations of iPods (mini, 4G, nano,
and video iPod), countless cell phones (from TDMA times to GSM),
notebooks and computers, and most importantly (and the reason we're here
today), PDA's.

This isn't my first time with a personal digital assistant. My first foray with PDA's was a PalmOne Treo 600, then
Motorola MPx200; after the Treo died and MPx200 bored, I went to a Palm
TX, then SMT5600; after those I transitioned into a HP iPaq RX1955, and
finally I just had to do it and get back to the Z22.

If you take
the time to read reviews and consider your purchase choices before you
click the checkout button, you have probably thought about getting a
Windows Mobile device, and trust me, I've been down that route (as you
can see from the boring list above).

If you did think about Windows Mobile, then maybe this is the device for you (yes, I'm serious).

You
can never have too many electronics devices, however, you only have two
hands, two ears, two eyes and a brain. Sure, you can have one device
that does it all, or multiple devices that do things well. It's your
choice, but now if you take a moment and look around you - your cell
phone probably plays MP3's; your MP3 player probably has calendar
functions on it; your laptop does everything you need including
internet; oh wait your phone also does internet AND play mp3's AND
videos; d'oh, your PSP plays better quality videos, etc...nowadays the
rage is toward convergence devices, yet eventually you'll find yourself,
out of all your gadgets and what-not, leaning toward just one thing...

Then
why did you waste money on everything else? You buy a product because
you have a need for its primary function, not the extra things you're
using, right?

In the times of maddening convergence devices, I've
returned to the Z22 for my day planner needs. Simplicity is the most
elegant form of art.

Ok, enough on the bull. You want the dirt, and here it is:

The
Z22 isn't outfitted with the prettiest screen (if you want a gorgeous
screen try the Palm TX or Lifedrive - guaranteed to be amazing,
especially when you play videos via TCPMP), the most powerful processor
(in fact, Z22 has just the opposite of that), or the most memory (modern
Windows Mobile devices has 128+ MB of memory, but more on that later),
but it's outfitted with design and thoughfulness.

First of all,
Palm makes the Z22. Palm also happens to be the company whose
predecessors brought handheld organizers to the mass market. In its most
recent form, Garnet (V5.4), has evolved into an operating system that
promotes simplicity, function, and usefulness. Surely, WM5 (Windows
Mobile 5.0) has better multimedia capabilities, Office-"compatible"
suites, and supports more connectivity options right out of the box, but
the OS isn't mature enough compared to PalmOS in terms of
user-friendliness and design.

WM5 strives to be the OS that does
everything and ends all competition, and while its feature set offers
the promise, the execution is poor. WM5 brings the Windows interface to a
handheld, and that translates mouse clicks to stylus taps, scrollbars
to (well, scrollbars), and menus to cascaded menus. Everything in WM5 is
organized as options in a menu. To get something done, you find
yourself having to rely on your stylus to click, click and click. Some,
like me, find this completely annoying. What's the need for a PDA for
quick notes if I have to click through 5 or 6 menu options to get there?
WM's model renders keystrokes and buttons completely useless, and this
in terms complicates things. Try this out in person and compare to the
same thing you're trying to accomplish in PalmOS, and you will see what I
mean.

PalmOS, on the other end, has gotten more of the things
worked out. You still need a stylus, but a lot of the operations and
navigations between menus and programs can be done with the directional
buttons and softkeys, quicker and better, than WM in a lot of cases.
It's also a more organizer-oriented system where it puts users and their
data first. Take HotSync (Palm) vs. ActiveSync (WM) and you'll see the
difference. One of them carefully backs up your PDA and syncs your
personal files, displaying progress along the way, and gives your a
detail log, color-coded and with OK in front of each line item, if
something goes wrong; the other rushes through synchorization quickly
and loads your files in bundles - you'll never know what they're copying
from/to your PDA - then if there's an error you get a generic
"Unresolved Item" error, then it's off to manually guess which items are
not copied correctly; installing programs on a Palm means to click on
the Palm file, and HotSync'ing it the next time, whereas on WM you'll
have to figure out which file to click (programs can come in three
different flavors, .CAB, .EXE and even .ZIP files), then upon ActiveSync
you'll need to worry about if an unsigned program will corrupt the
system or not, etc. Furthermore, PalmOS offers you a choice of syncing
between Outlook and PalmOS, while if you use a WM device off to
Microsoft Outlook you go. Where's the flexibility and choice?

Now
to the device itself. Z22 comes with an older-generation processor and
32MB of memory. 32MB may not seem too much but it's pretty standard
affair on Palm devices, and with the way PalmOS works it's just about
enough (WM on the other hand...a different ballpark). Z22 has plenty of
speed for the applications you'll run on it, and since it comes with no
audio/video capability, expansion, or wireless connectivity you'll end
up using only PIM features, which are completely acceptable and well
laid out on the Z22. The softkey and directional buttons have tactile
response, and while the screen isn't too great it has enough room to
display all the key and basic graphics you need. Despite its basic
feature set, you can use it with Datavis Documents to Go and an infrared
keyboard for quick keyboarding; graffiti also has a wide range of
recognition.

Now if you see the Z22 not for its lack of features,
but more for its intended purpose, then this is the perfect match for
you - a digitalized (and smart) personal day planner.

When I had
the Palm TX, Treo, and the various WM devices, there was always a major
afterthought - that I wasn't putting everything to full use. When I
could play music on the TX via Pocket Tunes, I no longer needed the
iPods; when I wrote emails and surfed the web on my laptop, I wouldn't
touch the PDA's for the same function...eventually this "forced"
convergence diverged again, and it ended up that most of the time the
PDA was sitting in my desk drawer collecting dust...and every time I
opened the drawer to get a pen or white-out, I would see the PDA sitting
there a paperweight, and I died a little inside. I just didn't have the
time, energy, or mood to play with these devices all day...and what
good is a PDA if it sits in a drawer doing anything BUT working for you?

The
Z22, however, reversed all that. Because of its small size and weight, I
actually manage to bring it everywhere besides the days or places that I
didn't need to; its quick response to basic note-taking and looking up
an event in the calendar made organization an ease. No longer had I
worried about not using a device fully - the Z22 was working at its
fullest potential being what it excels best: a personal organizer.

Then
all other little things it offered were simply bonuses, like being able
to run Documents to Go, tethering an IR keyboard, and running LyME (a
basic computational package similar to MATLAB for Palm devices - I'm an
engineering student and sometimes I need to do quick math that a
calculator can't readily perform). When you think about an electronic
device that way, then it has made all the difference for you.

I
never thought that a device so simple and seemingly "ineffective" can
turn around and become one of the greatest electronic gadget I've ever
had. This isn't an exaggeration...I spent a better part of the afternoon
writing this, and now if I wasn't serious about this wouldn't I have
spent that time doing something else instead?

Editorial Reviews

If you're still using a paper planner, maybe it's time to catch up with
technology and upgrade to the affordable and easy-to-use Palm Z22
handheld. It enables you to keep your entire day-to-day schedule and
contact information at hand and in your pocket--no more flipping through
multiple pages, looking for scraps of paper or keeping track of to-do
lists. And you won't have to enter the same thing twice--once on the
computer and once in your planner, as you can easily make updates on
your computer and synchronize data to the Palm Z22 in just a minute or
two.

This handheld features a 32 MB of flash memory (20 MB
accessible for file and software storage), Palm OS 5.4 (Garnet), a fast
200 MHz ARM-based processor, and an internal rechargeable battery (that
can be charged via the included AC adapter or via the USB cable
connected to your PC).

Weighing just over 3 ounces and about the
same size as a deck of playing cards, the Palm Z22 is compact and
stylish with a white front and translucent blue backing. Small enough to
fit into any purse, backpack or back pocket, it boasts a bright, 160 x
160-pixel color touchscreen display, which provides easy readability of
names, addresses, and appointments. You can even color-code appointments
for improved organization, and view and carry pictures of friends and
family wherever you go.

Operating System and Software
The installed Palm OS 5.4 uses the intuitive and easy-to-learn Graffiti
2 writing software to input data into the handheld (as well as an
on-screen keyboard). Windows users can synchronize their calendar,
contacts, tasks, and notes with Microsoft Outlook. The Palm OS features
the following organizer applications:

Contacts: Lets you
store several addresses for each contact, and with new fields for more
phone numbers, multiple e-mail addresses, instant messenger IDs, and Web
sites.

Calendar: Use the new Agenda view to see upcoming
calendar events, tasks due, and important e-mail, and color-code your
events to provide an easy way to reference your calendar in the Agenda,
Day, Week, and Month views. Take more notes, or synchronize more details
from your desktop, in the larger Memos and Notes fields.

Tasks: Use tasks with alarms and repeating tasks to set reminders for important commients.

It also includes AddIt, a program that includes a variety of
applications such as CheckSplit, Chess, Carb Counter and Solitaire. The
bonus software CD-ROM has an eBook reader with three books and a
dictionary, the powerOne Calculator (perfect for basic and advanced
mathematics), and SplashShopper (a helpful shopping list application).

Compatibility
The Palm Z22 is compatible with PCs running Windows Windows 2000 (SP4)
and XP (Outlook synchronization requires MS Outlook 2000, 2002, or 2003;
sold separately), and with Macs running Mac OS 10.2.8 to 10.4.

What's in the Box
Palm Z22 handheld, USB sync cable, power adapter, 3-step setup poster,
Graffiti 2 sticker, Software Install CD-ROM with Palm Desktop, Tutorial,
Getting Started Guide, User Guide, and bonus software.

Customer Reviews
This is my first iMac so I can't compare it to the previous versions
except the ones I saw at the Apple store when comparing the overall
dimensions and thickness of this latest 2012 iMac.

PACKAGING -
Includes 21.5" iMac, Charging cable, Wireless keyboard, and Magic Mouse.
Like most Apple's products, the packaging is thoughtfully done. All
tape pieces are easily removed with the individual tabs attached to
them. After set up it has a clean look on my desk, there is no clutter
due to the fact that the keyboard and mouse connect wirelessly. Opening
the box to setting it up took maybe 5 minutes tops.

FORM FACTOR -
This iMac is super thin from the sides and light enough for one-handed
portability if required. Looking at it from the front, it seemed only
marginally different from its predecessor but the difference was very
noticeable from the side. The back is slightly curved at the center and I
am guessing all the components are packed in this bulge at the center
back. The front glass seems to sit more flush with the body compared to
the earlier version which had a tiny little gap. Has a super sleek look
to it overall.

SCREEN - Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of this
iMac is its screen. Given the amount of real estate you get combined
with the stunning LED-backlit display, it's a pleasure using the screen
with its vibrant colors and low glare. Apple claims this model has 75
percent less glare than previous versions - there's no way for me to
measure this but suffice it to say that even with the screen turned off,
the screen is not really reflective. Once it's turned on, the
reflections die down even further. Images are crisp and pictures we have
taken with our DSLR camera seem further enhanced given the resolution
of the screen.

PORTS and CONNECTIONS - Apple did away with the
optical drive in this version, which means that to read/burn CDs or
DVDs, we can either connect an external drive like Apple's Superdrive to
the USB port, or feed off another PC/Mac (this has to be on the same
network) that has a built-in optical drive. If you are considering
getting an external drive, I personally would recommend the Samsung SE-208AB/TSBS External DVD-Writer - Black
which performs the same function and is $40 cheaper than Apple's super
drive. For the initial set up, I was able to wirelessly transfer all
files from my old PC to the iMac using the "Migration Assistant" utility
on the iMac - it took a minute to start the process and all files
transferred themselves in about 6 hours over the Wi-Fi network. Didn't
have the need for an external drive, though that would have been a
faster process.

On the back, there is a SDXC memory card slot,
couple of Thunderbolt ports, headphone jack, USB ports, and an ethernet
port. It's good they are at the back since they avoid cable clutter from
the desk, but connecting wires into them takes that small effort of
getting up and plugging in the cable at the back. Not a major issue for
me, the only port I will need to use is the USB port for my printer
which doesn't support wireless connection.

HARDWARE - Tech specs
are all specified above in the product details of the listing. That
said, with a 1TB hard drive, 2.7Hz quad-core i5 processor, 8GB of DDR3
memory (split into two 4GB slots), this Mac basically has more than
enough in terms of processing and storage capacity for my needs. Graphic
designers and users that require super memory or processing prowess,
they can perhaps judge for themselves if this will suffice.

ACCESSORIES
- The iMac comes with a wireless keyboard and a magic mouse. The
keyboard is a standard Apple keyboard, but I have found it to be
slightly small for me personally. Takes some getting used to. Instead of
using the Magic Mouse, I had considered getting Apple's Magic Trackpad
because that is very similar to the MBPro trackpad that I have used
extensively. However, having used the mouse for a few days now, I am
sticking with it - just a personal preference. The Magic Mouse also lets
you scroll down lengthy web pages without having to move to the side to
grab the scroll bar. Just a swipe of the finger on the mouse moves the
page down or up. It can also be configured to register right clicks.
Somewhat similar in terms of functionality to the magic trackpad.

BOTTOMLINE
- There are two versions of the 21.5" iMac, one with a 2.7Hz i5
processor and the other with a 2.9Hz i5 at an additional $200. I went
with the 2.7Hz which is good enough for me personally. Given the sleek
form factor, absolutely gorgeous display, pretty good quality built-in
speakers, front facing camera, and more than sufficient technical specs
for the ordinary user like me, this is a great buy. If portability is
not an issue, this in my opinion is definitely the device of choice over
the MB Pro.

Editorial Reviews

The stunning new all-in-one iMac features a
beautiful, completely re-engineered 21.5-inch widescreen display that's
75 percent less reflective. Third-generation quad-core Intel Core
processors and superfast NVIDIA graphics make it the most powerful iMac
yet. And it comes standard with 8 GB memory, a 1 TB hard drive, and
advanced, high-speed I/O, including two Thunderbolt ports and four USB 3
ports. All in an impossibly thin enclosure that's only 5mm at the edge.

The 21.5-inch iMac is just 5mm thin at its edge and features a bright display with 75 percent less reflection (view larger).

This
version of the 21.5-inch iMac (model MD093LL/A) features a 2.7 GHz
Intel Core i5 quad-core processor as well as an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M
graphics processor with 512 MB of video memory (see full specifications
below). It also comes with the iLife software suite, which includes the
latest versions of iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand.

Key Features

Completely Re-Engineered

Redesigned
from the inside out, the iMac's aluminum and glass enclosure has up to
40 percent less volume than its predecessor and an edge that measures
just 5mm thin. It also features a completely reengineered display that
reduces reflection by 75 percent while maintaining brilliant color and
contrast. In the new design, the cover glass is fully laminated to the
LCD and an anti-reflective coating is applied using a high-precision
plasma deposition process.

Keep your desk clutter free with Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse (view larger).

More Energy Efficient, Highly Recyclable

The
iMac is more energy efficient than any previous iMac, using up to 50
percent less energy in the idle state with the display on. And its
hardware components work hand in hand with the operating system to
conserve even more power. The environmentally friendly iMac design is
free of many harmful toxins, including mercury, arsenic, BFRs, and PVC.
It’s also made from materials such as aluminum and glass, which are more
likely to be recycled and reused.

Clutter-Free Desktop

You'll
be able to cut the cord with the included Wireless Keyboard and Magic
Mouse, both of which connect to the iMac using Bluetooth wireless
technology. Additionally, the Magic Mouse features a seamless
Multi-Touch surface that enables you to use the same intuitive gestures
used on the MacBook trackpad to easily scroll through long documents or
swipe to move forward or backward through a collection of web pages or
photos.

And with the FaceTime HD camera placed above the display
in the iMac's thin aluminum and glass design, you'll be able to make
video calls in HD 720p resolution to friends and family on another iMac
or MacBook. Additionally, you'll be able to connect to those using a
FaceTime-enabled iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

Apple Magic Mouse

Magic
Mouse is unlike any other mouse you've ever used. The entire mouse is
the button, so you can click anywhere. And it can be configured as
either a single- or two-button mouse.

Apple Wireless Keyboard

The
sleek aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard lets you type in front of your

thin and streamlined, so it sits on your desk surrounded by nothing but
glorious space.

Note:
The iMac does not come with an optical drive, however OS X Mountain
Lion offers the convenient DVD or CD Sharing feature, which lets you
wirelessly "borrow" the optical drive of a nearby Mac or PC. So you can
install applications from a DVD or CD and have full access to an optical
drive without having to carry one around. Additionally, you can connect
an optional optical drive (such as the Apple USB SuperDrive) via one of
the USB ports.

Limited Warranty And Service

The iMac
comes with 90 days of free telephone support and a 1-year limited
warranty, which can be extended to 3 years with the AppleCare Protection
Plan.
