My primary comment has to do with vacationing families. We know from experience that most parents come home from vacation more exhausted than when they left. Isn't that a shame? Vacations are supposed to be times to actually rest up and relax from the tough work-a-day world. Did you know that many hotels can connect you to a babysitting or nanny agency? It's true, at least for the larger hotels. Parents are eternally grateful to us for our babysitting agency. They take at least one full evening just for themselves. It isn't cheap. But it is often the super highlight of the entire vacation. Plan for it and save up for it. Parents rave to us that the sitters made them feel completely relaxed about leaving their children in the hotel room or the pool area. Our agency is like many others so you can check it out just to see how it all works. Check at http://www.elitefamilycare.com.

Everything is great until we reach the door to his class then he will lean against the wall and pout or if we go into the class everyone looks at him and says good morning and he will cover his face or hide behind me and hold my leg. If i try to leave he will scream and cry, I try to distract his attention by letting him show me the class turtle or something along those lines and it works sometimes, there is no change I thought it might be a phase. I don't know what to do, can anyone help?

We have been through the ropes so to speak with our adopted RAD daughter. She lies like she breathes and steals from us any chance she gets. We are a treatment foster home that has 3 bio children and 3 sp. needs adopted children. We tried counceling, emdr, dbt group therapy, in-home counceling and she sees a regular psychiatrist. When behaviors continued to escalate we were adviced to get the counties help so more resources open up. For example a group home placement. This backfired totally and our county has made us feel as we are the 'bad' people and placed her in a foster home. While I am at peace knowing we have done everything we could in the 4 yrs. she was with us and that it is better for the rest of my children as they feel safe now in their home and dont have to worry about someone stealing their personal belongings when they turn around. It is so extreemely hurtful to have been so deeply hurt by my child. I know that it takes a tight knit villiage to raise these kiddos, but when the community you live in takes her manipulations and false allegations and twisted versions of the truth over the parents skilled training in how to raise a RAD child, its just so wrong and so far from the truth. I feel we lost the 'power' and the control has been given to our severly ill daughter. Any suggestions or support from others who have been in our shoes?

I am floundering here. RAD is threatening to claim another of our kiddos as he is hitting puberty. He has started to cut, threatens suicide, follows the low crowd. We have learned a few things from an early go round with #2. So we are not afraid of his outbursts, holding firmly to consequences for breaking house rules. The thing is that he has such a sweet heart and tells me he doesn't want to disappoint us. He has gone through some bad choices personally this year and we have stuck through it with him, got him in counseling (which he despises), and he thanked me a few months ago for always being there for him no matter what he does. He does have some learning and emotional delays and it shows on how he takes on others problems, thinking this will make them like him. Not a good trait with a low flying crowd. He has always had a zest for life, is normally fun to be around, loves hard work and school. This hurts me deeply to see him slipping away. Any ideas?
