A teacher has been jailed after being caught having sex with a teenage student in her car.

Heather Adams, 41, from Iowa, was found hiding naked on the back seat of her car while an 18-year-old was naked on the front seat.

The pair were ordered to get dressed and removed from the vehicle which was parked in a dead end street.

Police  in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had been alerted to the parked car by neighbors who spotted parked at the end of their street late at night.

Neighbors suspected some drug activity had been taking place – and were stunned when it was revealed a teacher from Washington High School had been caught having sex.

An arrest report said officers ‘found a naked 18-year-old male in the front seat of a Chevy Suburban and the defendant, who is a 41-year-old teacher at Washington High School, also naked and hiding in the backseat’.

The complaint said both admitted they were engaged in sexual activity.

Adams was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Sgt Cristy Hamblin, a Cedar Rapids police spokesperson said: ‘We were notified on Sunday, May 6 at 9:30 in the evening there was a suspicious vehicle over in the 300 block of 28th Street Drive SE.’

Hamblin said officers arrived to find Adams and an 18-year-old male in the car.

‘Through the investigation, they found she is a teacher at Washington High School,’ he said. ‘And again, through investigation, discovered they were having sex in the vehicle.’

Hamblin said the sex in car would be considered legal but because the male is a student and Adams a teacher the sexual act a crime.

‘I hope the public would never view it as something reflective on the high school,’ he said. ‘This happens at the best high schools in the country, and the worst high schools in the country.’

Adams resigned from her job at Washington High School following her arrest and citing ‘personal reasons’.

If convicted of the aggravated misdemeanor charge, Adams could face up to two years in prison and placement on the state’s sexual predator registry.

Five family members were arrested after authorities found a one-year-old child and 58 dogs living in near squalor and surrounded by filth.

Teresa Weldon, 48, from Springtown, Texas, claimed to run an animal rescue operation from her home and had as many as 200 dogs sent to her over the space of two years.

However, the shelters began to suspect the dogs were being mistreated under Weldon’s care, and authorities began to investigate after they received a tip off from a concerned neighbor.

When they raided the home, not only did they find almost 60 dogs on the premises but the house, where Weldon’s grandson was staying, was covered with dog feces and filth, according to MyFoxDFW.

More than half of the dogs were living in stacked crates without adequate supplies of food or water and the rest were roaming free outside.

They were in such bad condition, two of the dogs had to be euthanized and five puppies died soon after the raid.

Weldon was arrested along with her husband Harry Weldon, 50, son Joseph Weldon, 23, Amanda Gayle Weldon, 29, of Fort Worth, the child’s mother and Christopher Brett Weldon, 26, of Aledo, the child’s uncle.

This was also the second time in a week that Teresa Weldon was arrested.

On Wednesday, the grandmother was arrested on a Tarrant County theft warrant as authorities seized the dogs. She was released from the Parker County Jail the next day.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said that several outdoor pens contained puppies sitting in their own waste.

He said: ‘That is totally unacceptable and very disheartening.’

Authorities say a longtime security supervisor at a New Jersey airport has been arrested on a charge he was using the identity of a New York City man who was murdered 20 years ago.

Illegal immigrant Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole, 54, of Nigeria, was arrested on Monday at his home in Elizabeth.

His co-workers knew him as Jerry Thomas, a man who was murdered in New York City in 1992, the same year Oyewole allegedly assumed his name when he started working at the airport.

It wasn’t immediately clear how Thomas’ personal information was acquired.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says Oyewole had worked at Newark Liberty International Airport for about 20 years and had passed background checks.

Oyewole allegedly had all the documents he needed, including a birth certificate and a social security card.

He had worked under several contractors at the airport, most recently FJC Security Services.

A message left Monday on Oyewole’s home phone was not immediately returned, and the Port Authority said it wasn’t sure if he had retained an attorney.

FJC Security, which received an airport contract in 2003, said it conducted a background check on the guard as had New Jersey state police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

FJC spokesman Michael McKeon said: ‘In all cases, he passed the background checks.

‘During his time with FJC, he had nothing in his record or his performance to indicate a cause for concern or a reason to question the state police and federal government’s background checks.’

NorthJersey.com reported that the suspect supervised over 30 security guards and was allowed access to secure areas.

Authorities told the website that it appears he was using the bogus identity so that he could stay in the U.S.

State police spokesman Lt. Stephen Jones said New Jersey requires security guards to undergo training under the Security Officer Registration Act and be fingerprinted.

The fingerprints are run through the state police criminal history database before a guard is certified.

A candidate is disqualified if he or she has a conviction for a fourth-degree offense or higher or a drug offense of any level, Jones said. Oyewole, as Thomas, was certified under SORA, he said.

A spokesman for Customs and Border Protection didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment Monday.

An airport employee who was familiar with Oyewole as Thomas said the private security guards he supervised are responsible for manning TSA security checkpoints after passenger gates close for the evening and before they reopen in the morning.

The guards also inspect delivery vehicles for possible unauthorized cargo, he said, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter.

A search of public records found evidence of a Bimbo Oyewole and a Jerry Thomas living at the address where Oyewole was arrested.

A report released Monday by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General found that only 42 per cent of reported security breaches from January 2010 to May 2011 led to corrective action, though it also found TSA had worked to improve its response.

A former FBI special agent, who worked on some of the bureau’s most high profile cases including the 9/11 attacks and the Oklahoma bombing, faces twenty years in prison after being arrested on child pornography charges.

Donald Sachtleben, 54, who served the FBI as a bomb technician for 25 years, was charged with possessing and distributing child pornography.

The Indiana resident was arrested after the FBI and an Internet Crimes Against Children task force began investigating another individual who was allegedly trading child pornography online.

That individual, identified as Jason Nicoson from Illinois, was arrested in January.

After searching Nicoson’s computer, investigators were able to trace illegal activity to Sachtleben’s home in Carmel.

After obtaining a search warrant on May 3, police allegedly discovered approximately 30 images and video files containing childpornography on the hard drive of his laptop computer.

Police interviewed Sachtleben’s wife, who denied knowing anything about the images on her husband’s computer, according to an affidavit released today by the U.S Attorney’s office in Indiana.

The indecent images found on Sachtleben’s computer allegedly match those which were discovered on Nicoson’s.

If convicted, Sachtleben faces up to 20 years behind bars for the distribution charge and up to 10 years for the possession charge.

Sachtleben retired from the FBI in 2008, after working on cases including the Unabomber case, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the USS Cole bombing, reported ABC News.

and currently works at Oklahoma State University in the Forensic Sciences department, where he has been employed since last October.

He is expected to appear in court on Thursday.

An Alabama man has filed a lawsuit against a Florida blood bank, charging that a transfusion during a heart bypass surgery infected him with HIV.

The lawsuit alleges that the contaminated blood given to Howard Midkiff came from the Alabama branch of LifeSouth Community Blood Centers.

The blood contaminated with HIV was collected by LifeSouth from ‘John Doe’ on October 14, 2010, according to the lawsuit.

Four days later, Midkiff was admitted to the Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery where he underwent a coronary bypass grafting in which the infected blood from LifeSouth was allegedly used.

Beasley Allen, the law firm representing Midkiff, said that LifeSouth found out that the blood products tested HIV positive in May 2011 and alerted the Baptist Medical Center.

The following month, Midkiff was diagnosed as being HIV positive.

A spokeswoman for the Baptist Health hospital system where the transfusion was given says Midkiff is the only one believed to have been given blood from the donor in question.

She says they have never experienced a case like this before and don’t expect to in the future.

MidKiff’s attorneys sought unspecified damages, but are asking for that the award exceed the minimum required.

An estimated 1.2 million Americans have HIV, which attacks the immune system and, unless treated with antiviral drugs, develops into AIDS, a fatal condition in which the body cannot fight off infections.

According to figures from Centers for Disease Control, an estimated five million patients receive blood annually in the U.S.

All blood is tested for evidence of HIV, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B viruses.

President Barack Obama discussed JPMorgan Chase’s $2 billion loss on Monday, saying the bank’s massive failure proves why Wall Street reform is necessary.

“JPMorgan is one of the best-managed banks there is,” Obama said during an interview on ABC’s “The View”, which will air on Tuesday. “Jamie Dimon, the head of it, is one of the smartest bankers we got, and they still lost $2 billion and counting.”

Dimon, who appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday, told host David Gregory he had been “dead wrong” to dismiss concerns about the banks questionable trades.

“We made a terrible, egregious mistake,” Dimon said. “There’s almost no excuse for it.”

Obama said the bank’s mistakes exemplified the reasoning behind his administration’s Wall Street policies.

“We don’t know all the details,” Obama said. “It’s going to be investigated, but this is why we passed Wall Street reform.”

The president’s comments came the day that Ina Drew, a top executive who worked for JPMorgan for three decades, announced her retirement. Drew supervised the trading desk responsible for the loss.

According to the president, if even a bank as well-managed as JPMorgan could make an error this glaring, other banks are susceptible to similar blunders.

“You could have a bank that isn’t as strong, isn’t as profitable, managing those same bets and we might have had to step in,” Obama said. “That’s why Wall Street reform is so important.”

Obama’s comments echoed those made by White House press secretary Jay Carney earlier on Monday. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Carney said JPMorgan Chase’s loss proved that the reforms put in place after 2008′s financial crisis were necessary.

“This is strong evidence that having these rules of the road in place are essential to making sure that taxpayers don’t get left holding the bag,” Carney said. “We have to remain ever vigilant.”

The president also told “The View” that Wall Street reform is a key area of distinction between him and presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

Bobbi Kristina may be set to honor her late mother, Whitney Houston, at this year’s 2012 Billboard Music Awards.

The show will pay tribute to Houston with a musical performance honoring her iconic musical catalog. No artists scheduled to perform have been named just yet, but according to the Grio, Bobbi Kristina is scheduled to participate.

The news comes just days after Lifetime announced that the Houston family has signed on for a new reality show, tentatively called The Houston Family Chronicles. It will follow the lives of Pat, Gary, Cissy, Bobbi Kristina, Dionne Warwick and CeCe Winans as they continue to recover from Whitney’s death. Episodes are set to begin airing this fall.

Farm workers told Times reporter Ben Montgomery of how drugs and debt bound them to a form of indentured servitude in the rural town, with a population of 750.

The exposé follows a lawsuit filed on behalf of of LeRoy Smith last month, who in federal court documents claims he was lured into working at Bulls-Hit while playing a game of chess at a Jacksonville park on May 1, 2010.

Labor contractors, he says, took advantage of his crack addiction, betting that he would work for nothing in order to feed it.

Instead, when he got there, Smith says he found ‘Slavery. Abuse. Overwork. Deplorable, unsanitary conditions. Drugs,’ he told the Times.

The suit, filed by Florida Legal Services and Farmworker Justice on behalf of Smith and another former worker at Bulls-Hit, Dennis Nash, alleges the men were victims of labor trafficking while employed in 2009 and 2010.

They claim the farm’s labor contractor, Ronald Uzzle, recruited men from homeless shelters in the region and played on their drug dependencies to build a low-cost work force.

According to the lawsuit, money was taken from workers’ wages to pay for rent, food and debts, creating a vicious cycle of debt that prohibited them from leaving and left workers in fear of their employers.

‘The only reason there’s no shackles is because now they make the people submit to the cocaine. That’s what they use to basically control the people,’ Smith told the Times.

Some of the workers, Smith acknowledged, appeared content to live within those confines, satisfied by consistent access to drugs and alcohol. Some farmers had been there more than 10 years, he said.

Still, he is not alone is speaking out.

Bennie Cooks, a 57-year-old Army veteran, told the Times he was recruited to Bulls-Hit from a homeless shelter in Savannah, Georgia in 2008; after 19 months, he found his way out, but recalls a hostile and threatening environment that made him fearful to do so.

‘They’d intimidate people. If you owed them money, then one guy’d say, “You owe me money. You can’t leave.” He’d threaten you,’ Cooks said.

Another man, Lonnie Smith, said he escaped in 2010 after three years working on the farm he called ‘the Island’ to pay off his debts, the Times reports.

Smith told of how he woke up at 1am that morning, hid his work clothes and made a run for it.

According to Farmworker Justice, this is not the first time Bulls-Hit has been accused of violating labour laws. The farm was also suied in 2004 under similar circumstances.

Bulls-Hit owner Thomas R Lee, who is named in the suit, could not be reached for comment.

Ronald Uzzle denied the allegations. He claimed the workers are free to leave at will and he does not keep them in debt or withhold paychecks.

He also denied selling the workers drugs. He told the paper: ‘There’s no drugs sold on this camp. I’m not going to tell you people don’t do drugs, but if people want to do drugs, they do it. I can’t stop them.’

Local farmworker advocates meanwhile estimate there are between five and 10 families who use similar methods.

But Greg Schell, who is representing Smith and Nash in their case, says he has hope the practice is on its way out.

‘It’s still there,’ he said, ‘but it’s not as severe as it was with Ron Evans,’ referring to a former contractor sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2007 under similar circumstances.

Evans, of East Palatka, was found guilty of luring homeless, drug-addicted workers to his camp and selling them drugs and alcohol to keep them in debt after police found more than 100 rocks of crack cocaine at his camp during a raid in 2005.

A controversial new bill could ban teachers from discussing ‘gateway’ sexual activity with teenagers as the state of Tennessee bids to promote abstinence among students.

The discussion of sexual activity like genital-touching, often promoted as an alternative to full intercourse, could be prohibited in high school sex education classes.

The bill has already been signed by Tennessee Governor BIll Haslam and any teachers caught discussing such behaviour could potentially be fined $500.

Activity like genital-touching has been deemed as an offending ‘gateway’ to full intercourse by legislators.

However, critics said the definition of gateway sexual behaviour was so vague that teachers may not even be able to discuss more innocent acts such as kissing or hand-holding.

According to the Nashville Tennesean, the move would require sex education classes to ‘exclusively and emphatically promote a sexual risk avoidance through abstinence, regardless of a student’s current of prior sexual experience’.

It would make teachings during Tennessee schools – which already takes a stance of promoting abstinence – even more restrictive.

Last month, the bill was passed by the House with 68 votes in favour of it and 23 against. And in an earlier vote in the Senate it received 29 votes in favour to one.

According to ABC News, state representative John DeBerry, D-Memphis, said in his testimony to the Tennessee House of Representatives: ‘Everybody in this room knows what gateway sexual activity is.

‘Everybody knows there are certain buttons when you push them, certain switches when you turn them on, there’s no stopping, especially for undisciplined, untrained, untaught and unraised children who just want to feel affection from somebody or anybody.’

However, the Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region told ABC News: ‘Tennessee students need more information about puberty, their own bodies and proven methods that prevent pregnancy and the spread of disease.

He said on The Colbert Report: ‘Kissing and hugging are just the last stop before the train pulls into Groin Central Station.

‘We desperately need to intervene earlier keep kids from engaging in … all the things that lead to the things that lead to sex.’
