I’ve been noodling around in Sketch Club on my phone during down time from school and work. The tools are pretty fun, and it has a little built-in social network that rewards people to interact (superficially, usually, but hey). I’ve also found that the fact that I’m painting on my phone lets me take the whole thing a lot less seriously.

I wasn’t going to post these, but I have nothing else to show for myself lately so here we are!

Concept & Imaging homework. Our directive: create an environment with architectural and organic elements and directional lighting. All the interactions between different light sources were fun to figure out, as was the perspective on the different levels of the platform. I think my favorite part of jobs like this, though, is figuring out the practical details: what effect does wear, weather, vegetation, etc. have on the materials of this space? What kind of people live there? What does their typical day look like? That’s the stuff that gets me going, and why I’m excited to do more environment work in the future.

This was a project for school. Our assignment was to create a monster based on the theme of “old time perversion”. I’m generally not a huge fan of the ole “sexy ladies who entice hapless men only to feast on their blood/brains/life force” concept, but it seemed like the best fit for the job this time.

The reference photo I took of myself for this pose would make for primo blackmail material, by the way.
