Projects I've been working on

I've been super busy lately with different projects, Here they are

-Custom making a karate belt rack

-painting a toddler bed

-Upholstering a 50's couch, literally from the 50's or 60's (they used a lot of burlap)

I have one picture of the karate belt rack.It's a little blurry from my phone and it has glass, so you have the glare from that.

Here is the couch that I'm working on, I'm just waiting to get the fabric! Can't wait to see how it turns out!!!

Last June, I decided to start this blog so I could show my furniture transformations and thoughts I had about design. I feel in the last year that I've come so far. I've has some great ups and downs. I'm glad to my readers and for the wonderful comments you have made about different pieces. I've enjoyed this ride and I hope to make this next year as a furniture blogger a great one. A friend of mine has wanted to paint their piano for a while. Now that she is going to be gone for two years it's a perfect time to do it. (she will has a wonderful piano waiting for her when she comes back) :)
She picked out this awesome color that goes on like butter and with a paint sprayer in hand I was ready to have at it!!! I love these results!

in the garage then lugging it back into the house.

Good morning!

I've been working on a few projects and hope to show them in the coming weeks. :)
I wanted to do this project for my kids, something that was fun and they could get dirty (just a little bit). I also had some left over board from another project so I didn't have to spend anything.

I cut the board to the desired measurment

primed and painted

Then had my kids put their hand prints and I

wrote down some things like what they like, etc.

My kids loved this project and I'm glad I got to do it with them!

Fabric Picture Frames

From previous post. To finish my wall I decided to use some left over fabric from my pillows that I just made.

I bought some 8 x 10 frames at a thrift store for $4, painted them and then attached the fabric on the frame backing, distressed and finished. Here is the final result!
Paint used valspar (color similar to ocean sea breeze from krylon)

Side Note: for some reason the color wasn't showing quite well. I'm still working on getting more light in my apartment. :)

My Dining room wall.... DIY Framed mirrors

My apartment has been a work in progress. Before I moved I bought some mirrors at the dollar store and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them until I saw this at Pottery barn

So instead of paying $150 I decided I would make them. Here's how I did it:

First I purchased some frames at a local thrift store for about $10.

Then I got my table saw, ( I would love to get and electric saw, I just don't have a place for it right now) and measured my mirror. the mirror was 5"x 5". Here is what it looked like before I assembled

Then I used Gorilla glue to put back together, primed and painted (don't mind the bigger frames, that will be for another project)

Then I added the mirrors, I used gorilla glue for that as well. Then I distressed the frames to what I wanted and here is the finished result!

$3 mirrors

$10 frames

$6 paint

Total cost:

$19

Can't beat that price!

So I forgot to take a before picture and I thought my client had sent me a before picture and can't find it. So I guess you only get to see the after photos.

I'm so excited for spring because that means I have more days that I can paint without it being too cold. Today was also a plus because it actually wasn't raining today. :)
Don't get me wrong , I love Washington State and the rain, I just don't like it when I'm trying to get projects done. :0

Since I'm working on some projects and waiting to get some pictures of a project I did while I was in Utah, I thought I would share some of my favorite chairs.

I love tufted chairs so much because it gives a sleek,

classic look!

I love this chair because it reminds me of the one

I had before I moved. My husband found it at

a thrift shop and it was so comfy.

When I was visiting in Utah I found out that my

parents had kept it, so hopefully I can bring it with

me the next time I visit.

I love this one because it is perfect for reading

or just relaxing after a long day!

I've always loved wing chairs and recently reupholstered a wing chair

for my sister.

Hi, sorry about deserting you guys! Things have been so crazy around here, between getting my little girl registered for kindergarten and my birthday I've been a busy woman. Hopefully I will have more projects to show on here soon.

So Here is the first thing I did when I moved into our current apartment was placement of candles. I love candles! so here are some pictures

This is a candle arrangment I did for my coffee

table. If you look closely you can see a

at a thrift store that will get a paint job when

it warms up!

This is what I decided to do for my table. for my

birthday I bought myself a new table and chairs. I've

been looking for one I could redo for about a year with

no luck. I love this one anyways!

I also did another arrangement for my bathroom, which I will show at another date.

So I'm all moved in and currently working on getting my house put together, hopefully that wont take me too much longer..... sigh. :)

I saw this on my facebook yesterday and I automatically feel in love with this idea. This idea comes from one of my favorite places Apartment Therapy and since I loved it so much I just wanted to share with you. I think I will be doing this idea in one of my rooms. So stay tuned! :)

First off I just want to tell you all thank you for helping me to reach 100, now I just need to get to 200 followers to reach my goal for the year and do a huge giveaway for my wonderful readers!

I've been in Utah for the last couple of weeks for weddings, mission homecomings and projects! I will be coming home tomorrow and then moving so I will hopefully be up and posting pictures next week.
Tune in, i just got done with a lazy boy wing chair. It was quite the challenge but fun to see the results!

Table Runner

Have you ever wondered how to make a table runner? Well, I have just completed one and I'm ready to show and tell!

My wonderful client wanted a table runner to match her awesome chairs and so of course I said it wouldn't be a problem and went to work (This was after I finished the chairs)

Here is a little drawing to show you the size it needed to be

After I cut out the top and bottom portion I began pinning the piping in between the top and bottom, inside out. Here is a picture to show you

Once I did that, I then put it back right side in and folded the bottoms to make a point. then sewed it together. Sorry I don't have a picture of that part. I think overall, it was a pretty simple project and my clients loved it!

And here it is again! Doesn't it look awesome???

Blue Seat Cushions

About a month ago I was able to sale my Blue Club Chair to a friend of mine and because of this beautiful chair, she wanted me to do her dining room seat cushions in the same fabric. I have to admit that I love this fabric because it is so easy to work with. It's just suede but it's fantastic!!!!
Anyway, here is the before and after

I love it!!!
