Picnic at Landmark Recreation Centre, Aizawl

Once upon a time, I'd update my blog quite regularly. Time change, people change and I neglected my blog for a long time, though I wanted to update it from time to time.

A month back, we had our office in Landmark Recreation Centre, Aizawl. I thought of writing about that day but changed my mind and decided to write about the centre briefly.

Pros:

1. The place is beautiful

2. You get - swimming pool, basketball court cum futsal court, beach volleyball court, and places to hang out

3. Water is clean

4. Not far from the city yet private

Cons:

1. Expensive. Some might say it is reasonable but I find it super expensive

2. Food

Outside food is not allowed. If you are to have your food there, you have to make an order from their catering service only. Worst of all, the food is not good. At a cost of RS 350 per plate, the food were limited, and not good at all.

The experience with the catering service was poor. Food order was made to be serves at 14:00. However, when we asked if the food was ready, they were not even close to finish preparing. Their answer was "we still have to cook chicken and rice", and "it is still early" Nope, that was a sign of bad service (not to mention poor quality of food served). After waiting for another hour, food was finally served. And when we reached the food counter, noodles were no longer available (mind you, 85 plates were ordered, and there were max 50 of us (with children). So, it was another 20 minutes wait.

Back in the '80s, I remember watching the Hindi & English news, news for hearing impaired at Doordarshan, boring Indian men chitchatting in Hindi (god knows what they were talking about), only to see a minute or two long advertisements. How things has changed. Now it seems that you are waiting for a minute or two of a serial/movie between the ads.

I know I don't have the knack for creating an ads, however I think I do have the rights to have my own opinion; Rights to Freedom of Speech, remember? :) . Now, back to the point.

The ads that's spamming us the most on TV these days is the Park Avenue Beer Shampoo. I am not going to talk about the product or the meaning of the ads but the ads alone.

If you watch this ads, you will be able see that they are trying to show that this is a hilarious ads, judging by the way the model talk with the seems to be in "thoughtlessness" expression in his eyes to look funny. However, talking and looking stupid is never funny, except may be for some mainstream Indians. And, men with straightened hair is never sexy.

The Vodafone ads for Moms - Really annoying yet you can't help laughing at this ads. This ads clearly show how the Indian Moms are obsessed with their son(s). After watching this and knowing the Indian moms, I guess you can't argue with the joke -

An Indian male will have 1 wife, 1 mistress, 1 girlfriend, 1 neighbour's wife but will still love his Mummy the most

Uggh! How I hate the Cadbury's Silk ads. We are aware that the inside is not solid but an adult and grown up teens making a mess while eating it? This is so uncool and dirty. It angers me to watch them and yes, I avoid buying the Cadbury's Silk. Yewww

This is Slice ads, a simple, harmless mango juice. I don't know why the model seems to be "lusting" for it. C'mon, children are drinking it and you don't have to show as if you are about to have orgasm.

Maaza used to my favorite long time back :) and I still love it. Why have I included this? It's because the model never take a sip from the bottle. Being an actress, she is acting as if she is enjoying it while not a single drop goes into her mouth. This is just so annoying.

Is the product so bad that the person who endorse the product, I believe with a lump some amount, won't take a single sip? Oh, her acting is not great here

Plum picking in Manali

First of all, never wear a frock to plum picking. Secondly, I realized that I am more of a country girl than a city girl.

It was after food when I met bhaiya who asked me if I want to go for plum picking with the rest of the guys. To ensure that I agree to go, he told me that his wife, bhabhi, will also be going along. Then I went to wear my shoes and climbed up the hill, with Vikram leading the way.

The last time I went for hill climbing was most probably with Jerusha, when we went to Manali in 2011. I was huffing and puffing all the way. I was quite positive that we were lost and when I made this remark, one of the guys said "no, not yet".

Then after sometime, which seems like an hour to me, we finally reached our destination.

There were around 8-to 10 plum trees and went crazy after seeing them hehe

Yes, I was busy plucking as well as eating the juicy once. I ate as much as I could, for which I paid the price later, but totally worth it.

This is bhabhi...very nice and cheerful woman, who kept on laughing at me as I was busy eating and plucking them at the same time

The plums were very very juicy...gosh, makes my mouth water just thinking about it

Would you believe this when I say that I was able to collect this much from only one area?

The going back was not as tough as I imagined it to be as there was a very easy way..with proper road. Yes, I confirm that we were lost on our way to the plum trees...lol

The plums were distributed among the children of Dar-Ul_Fazal . When some of the children came to learn that I too went to pick the plums, they thanked me. It felt so good to see them enjoying the fruit so much.

I must mention that the farm where we went to pick plums belongs to the neighbor of Dar-Ul-Fazal Children's Home, who willingly let us take as much as we like, for the children. Thanks to the family.

Happy 68th birthday, Mom

Honestly, I do not know the exact date of my Mom's birthday but thanks to my sis, I came to learn that it is today, 10th June. Anyway months' back, I've vowed to make a post on her birthday. I've been really missing my Mom these days.

The other day I was thinking of those rainy days back in Aizawl, that was filled with thunders and lightnings. I used to be so afraid that I always find it hard to sleep with all the lights and the rumblings.

I'd cover myself with a blanket trying hard not to hear the thunder or feel the lightning but to no avail. So after tossing and turning, I'd finally go to Mom's room and sleep next to her. That was when I finally feel safe and could fall asleep.

I know that the thunder nor the lighting stopped after sleeping next to my her but I always feel safe and protected with her. In education wise, she may not be the one that excel but she gave and gives me what I needed the most- love and security. My Mom is great and I am proud to have her as my Mother. I thank God once again for giving me YOU.

Happy Birthday again. I love you.

Delhi Comic Con 2013

When I suggest to Zorini that we go to the Comic Con, her first reaction was "Stop watching Big Bang Theory". Then she, of course, agree to it.

I honestly did not know that there used to be a Comic Con in Delhi, and this was the third time. I was really excited. Since I worked at night, I had to skip my beauty sleep to attend the convention. Had coffee with beef, then left for the venue.

When we reached the and book the ticket, we were first greeted by our very own Indian Spider Man (minus his dhoti :D).

Before we visted the stalls, we first stopped at the never to missed "Naga food stall". After having our fill, we visited stall to stall, meeting super heroes to another super heroes.

I met and took a snap with Jazyl Homavazir, creator of The Beast Legion, who sweetly suggested that I visit his Facebook page.

When I showed this picture to Lakuri, she said "Of all the people, why did you take picture with him?". Then I gave my explanation, then she said "(he is) so nerdy". I've also bought his comics (vol 1-8) for 250 INR. the comics says for ages 13+, and I am a 13+ hehehe.

What about "good"?

I was tossing and turning on my bed last night, trying to free the blockage in my nose. Yes, the blockage was due to my cold. Being unable to fall asleep due to the disturbance, several thoughts came into my mind, some which I exclaimed "oh no", some which I missed, annoyed etc.

Then I remember me saying "The only good thing I have ever done is not chewing tobacco". Ok, I know I had said this as a joke but then I ask myself "What are the good things you have done in your life?". I try to point out all the great and good things I had done for others but then to my shock, my mind went blank. Am I reallty this selfish?

I often express my desire to work for an NGO, charity work, doing good things for the needy. And I'd say that I will be happiest but now I have huge doubt on myself.

When I checked my email today, I was surprised to notice that there was a new comment in my blog. Thought it to be a spam but the comment was quite alright (reason, name :P). I checked my last update, and wow, it's almost a year. I guess it must have almost a year too since I do not visit my blog.

Spent the past months confused, trying to figure what I want it life but no answer till now. I've been working in a company that I do not love (:D). Couldn't come to the conclusion whether to go back home or stay continue to stay here in Delhi, or move to Hyderabad. Decisions, decisions; it's exhausting.

What happened so far -

I have fallen for Dr Sheldon Cooper.

I've met the guy whom I used to have a huge crush on 13 years back. Yes, he is married and yes, he was my senior during those days.

I've also met one of my closest, dearest friends from middle school days after 15 (?) years. Wow, how time flies. All thanks to Facebook.

I took Zumba Fitness videos from Sandman. Though I have my doubt the effectiveness of the the workout, I guess I shouldn't be judging a fitness video based on the owner. So from last night, I have started watching and follow the instructions. I admit it is very very tiring, not as easy as it looks. And I have to pause and take a rest after every 5 minutes..hehehe..

Gee...I can't believe that this is my first post this year...gosh, I had been so lazy. Well, this trip that I am to talked about also happened last month *GRIN*.

Besides its beauty, the things I notices about Manali are:

1. The air is very clear, fresh and clean. In short, still very unpolluted

2. All shops including the fruit vendor ensured that they use paper bag instead of poly bag ( This doesn't meant that I am an environmentalist..heh)

3. The people are very good. A very simple example: the auto rickshaw drivers are not there to cheat you. (We reached Delhi in the morning and the auto driver tried to take an extra night charge..whew). I guess the weather greatly affect the people.

4. Tea/Coffee are really really good

I am not going to say much but let the pictures do the talking:

As I've never seen a snow in real life, we got really excited with the first clear view of snow on the hills.

We reached Manali in the morning and this is where we enjoyed our tea and bread-omlette

Yet another year over

How time flies. I find it hard that we are at the last day of 2010. Like we joked in the morning the year has ended before “we decide our new year resolution”.

The year 2010 is sure brings a mixed up emotion to my family. A new nephew of mine, the sweetest one anyone could ever ask for. He brings joy to the family. On the other side, my cousin sister and my aunt were diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, the operations were successfully. At the end of the year, we are happy. Thank you, Lord.

Looking back at the year, I asked myself if I bring joy to anyone’s life. Did I achieve something great? I have no answer to these questions. What I do know is that I did hurt someone and I am sorry for that.

Being away from home for a long time now, it is sad to hear demise of our dear and close ones. A few days back, I was shocked with the news of the untimely death of LMSA ("Lalmalsawma" but that's how we called him) whom I've known for so long; we have been in the neighborhood for so long that I cannot even recall how I know him. All I can say is that he was one of the best person I know. Besides him, I have lost some close friends like Rocky, Lalrintluanga, Frederick (an old classmate) to name a few. It's hard to believe that I will never see them in this world again. I still think of them and still wonders. I could go on and on but enough of talking about dying here..heh!

Looking at the brighter side, I am in good health; I have great friends, great family, good job and colleagues and oh, a roof over my head J. And a new found brother, family through LK..hehe. For all these, I thank the Lord up in heaven. If I am to repay for all these, it would take me forever to pay back.

I really wish I had spend my Christmas and New Year back home. I really had good time last year with my family. Anyway, hope we all will be well and spend the next and more Christmases and New Years with them.

To end this year, here's a small prayer:

Lord, thank you for your countless blessings.

Thank you for wonderful families, best friends, job and a great team

Lord, do bless all my dear and loved ones with health, wealth and wisdom

Her: "So, does that mean that you are not going to be here for my birthday?"

Me: (Tough question) "Sorry sweety, I won't be able to make it..still stuck up with my work"

Her: "Well, if you are not here, we are not going to celebrate it"

Me: "Why not??" (bit surprised here) "You have to celebrate whether I am there or not..and be happy"

Well..the conversation goes and with her saying "I really miss you".....and I really miss you too, darling. I really wish I could be there.

Sarah, it's hard to believe that you have turned 10 this year..wow..it seems like yesterday when I hold you in my arms and dressed you up. Yes, I used to take you to Aganwadi and you were barely able to talk.

Oh, how I missed you and love you.

Yup...Another Year Older :)

April 19th - yes, that's my birthday - reached with God's blessings.

I know that people loved to pull my legs - you are this old, you are still single...get married..oh, you are such a senior-single-with job lady, you are scaring the guys away...and all craps...which, are not hilarious but have to smile out of politeness.

I used to see it this was - okay, they make fun, it's fine. How many people do not live long enough to see the stage I am in? How many of my classmates had lost life? How many got married and led a not-so-happy-envious life? I feel so blessed. Thank you Lord.

Okay, looking back at the years that I had spent, I asked myself:

1. Have a been a good daughter?:

For others to see, I may not be a problematic daughter - free from drugs, never dressed over the top, never awkward make up, a grad now with a job. But, had I been a good daughter? If I have to be rated, I know that I won't be rated high. There are so many things that I regret.

2. How do I rate as a sister?:

I remembered their birthdays and sent my wishes every year..and..ok. on my defense, I am the youngest so they should be looking after me :D...and they never remember my birthday unless I remind them over and again. No good wishes till now...

This is how I fair as a sister.

3. How about friend?

I listened all the craps they can talk about with patience :D and sometimes try to help them out. But if I compare the time I gave for my friends to all the things the do for me, it become so little.And yes, these days, I spent so much time alone, which is really bad..My PC and my net become my best friends now

I have guests..but that do not stop me from browsing

Now, I am not going to ask how I am as a Boss or as a colleagues cos I know I am the worst, the most impatient, you name it and I am that.

To make it short, I am thankful that God had guided me throughout my life and blessed me with another year. Thank you Lord.

One of my friends called up saying that Boomarang will be performing Live and invite us to see them play and then later to have dinner.

Shall I call myself a Fan? :D Ok, I like the band very much and proud to read and hear about them.

These two could not turn their head/neck for the next 4 days...hahahha...when you call them, they turned themselves without moving their heads..lolz

Hlutea was asking me the other day how William is doing - if he is able to turn his head..lolz

It was such a great night that William completely forgot that he is - unable to walk properly and could barely walk, having viral fever, hard of hearing (:D) etc.

Remembering my Father

Time flies so fast that I was hardly prepared for t- the same day when my father left us for his eternal home (31st March, 2001).

Lots has been going into my mind these days and I find it hard to make the right decision - what will be best for me. This is the time when I really really need my father to talk to - pouring my heart out and listening to his thoughts and make me understand what is right for me. Pa, I really need you these days - it's been so tough.

There are many times when I envy those who still have their parents alive and well. I'd looked at them and questioned them in my thought "Do you know how fortunate you are to have both your parents with you?" "Have you thanked God for blessing you with parents?" - endless questions.

I know how much tougher it will be for my Mom, looking after the family without my father. Each day, I said a silent "Thank you for my Mom" prayer and I do not want God to take her away too. This might sound selfish but I want her to live for a very very long time.

I will never say goodbye to you my Father
cause I know this is not the end for us to see each other.
You will only be going to a place where there’s no pain nor suffering.

I am happy for you, for you will be with God.
For now we need to go in separate ways.

A visit to Agra

I meant to share this long time back but, as usual, my laziness got the better of me. I kept telling my self to do it ASAP and here it is, finally..whew!!

There's a saying - If you stay in New York for a week, you will see everything. If you stay for a month, you will see some thing (place), and if you stay for a year, you will not see anything.

The same thing goes for me as well, I guess. After staying in Delhi for 5 yrs, I finally managed to see the great Taj Mahal and oh, it is so so sooo beautiful.

We went in a tour bus that came to pick us up. The journey was somehow tiring as it took 5 hrs or more to reach Agra.

Once we reached there, the first stop was at Agra Fort.

Whenever I see an ancient building/fort, the one thing that always comes to my mind is "How safe these/this place will be if there is an earthquake (touch wood)"....

I've always admired the laborers and the architects during those days when looked at the magnificent forts. How hard these people have to work to built it as those days they do not have the modern technology. Not to forget, the emperor or the king who could build it..how wealth they would be during those days.

The interior decoration is just so wonderful, and beautiful. I don't know what to say much but I can tell that they were really really advanced in architecture.

This place gave such a nice angle. This idea was given by the photographers swarming around - offering you to take your pictures for a price and give you the developed photos.

After this, our next stop was finally to the Taj Mahal.

I have seen and read about The Taj Mahal several times and always tell myself that it is a "must see". As we entered the gate, we were full of excitement and the moment I saw it, I was lost for words. It was so beautiful and enchanting. I stood still for sometime admiring the beauty and kept on saying "it's soooo beautiful,,it's wonderful..." on and on .

Then, back to the world, the first picture I captured of the Taj Mahal..not the best in the world but it's ..quite beautiful..not bad

This is where the late Princess Di sat when she the Taj Mahal. This seat was a Hot Seat and you have to fight to be able to take a snap..lolzz..and you don't even have the time to focus on the angel..the most important thing is that you sit there and took a photo..

After this, we moved the two other temples - where Lord Krishna was born and the other where he played as a child.

There was a Hindu march (that's how I call it) near the temple where Lord Krishna used to play as a child. I captured a few pictures of that march and here is one.

Though how we go is quite convenient, I would suggest people not to take the tour bus as it takes too much and and most important - if you want to see only the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal. After visiting all the places and went home, we reached back home at 2:00 AM.

No next time or if you want to see the two mentioned place only, here is the best option:

1. Take train from Del to Agra (3hrs and even AC Chair costs around Rs. 300)

2. Hire a taxi to take you to Agra Fort and The Taj Mahal (if you are in group, you can contribute) or a bus (my guess is there will be bus)

3. Take a train back to Del (3 hrs)

This way, time is less consuming as you will used up only 6hrs Vs 10 hrs journey (to and fro).

There was a girl. She was famous for her unkempt apartment. If you entered the apartment, you will see unmade bed, unswept floor (who know for how long), wrappers lying around, clothes everywhere etc. Adopted stray dogs which create more mess as her apartment was filled with new and dried craps that were covered with newspapers.

One fine day, she hired a maid who now kept the house tidy. Whoever entered the house now made a comment "The house is so clean, you can actually live now".

After this, she would proudly day "I cannot stand dirty house. I told my maid that everything should be spick and span".

Then, one of her friends left her house in a mess one day with clothes lying around. She was the first to make this comment "How could she be so untity, I can't stand it". It was a laugh for those who knew her before.

There was a boy who drinks quite heavily. When asked why he drank so much, he answered "I have an insomnia and this is the reason why I drink a lot so that I may fall asleep. But this did not help, I still cannot sleep, no matter how much I drink" and then after a few minutes, you can hear him snore. :)

My system time says its 8th Feb 2010 but my very recently updated blog still show 7th Feb, 2010 and I was like..WTF.
Thinking that it was to do with my gmail setting, I checked but found out it wasn't so. (dumb of me to think as blogspot could be associated with third party email account)
Then I go to the settings and found out that it was set to Pacific Standard Times..hehehe

Update: Now the funny thing is that this update shows as the second last update

A day at Fun N Food Village

I am not going to comment much here..I had, in fact, we all had a good time. We went there as a team and it was fun.

I do not know how to swim but I spent most of my time here; it was great

This was the best ride...the best slide...I sure had fun sliding down here.

It's good to be back

When was the last time I updated or visited my blog??...I have stopped updating and then stopped visiting my blog..I don't know why..may be I have lost interest for some time..may be.

The "DID NOT"

1. Planned to go home for a friend's wedding but cancelled it at the last moment

2. Tried to have a new sexy abs with my new Abs Exerciser but still not reduced

3. Shed off weights :(

4. Meet up with cousins

5. Devote more time to ...! :D

6. Call up my Mom (I am so guilty)

7. Pray more

8. Pay more attention to myself

9. See Potter

However, I did:

1. Went to see Ice Age 3 - A must watch

2. Use my Abs Exerciser frequently

3. Learn how to prepare lassi :P

4. Went to Hard Rock Cafe

5. See Monster Vs Aliens (a must SEE and look out for the alien)

6. Call Mom

7. Had a small party at my place

8. Shifted to yet another place

9. Become a couch potato

10. Buy myself a new pair of jeans :)
