This bit and the Hitachi "superdriver" collated screwdriver system sucks.
I paid over $300.00 for the superdriver system so I could drive screws into cement underlayment board for ceramic tile, without being on my hands & knees. For an additional $ 150.00 I purchased 3,000 collated screws with the LOZ screw head, because they weren't supposed to strip, mis-feed, etc. "like the other brands".

The Hitachi superdriver LOX screws are only available via the internet, so you have to plan your job in advance
and buy more collated screws then you think you'll need. Cement board screws are $50.00 a thousand.

Long story short, the LOX bit fell apart after 2,000 screws.
About 200 screws mis-fed and fell out of the strip before they could be used, once the strip location is used, you can't reinsert the unused screw.
Another 100 or so screws didn't seat flush like they were supposed too. And needed to be driven flush with another sheetrock screw gun.
A second attempt to drive the screws flush using a stand square head bit, usually strips out the LOX head.
The LOX screws strip out four times as much as standard square head screws (I love standard square head drive screws)

A new bit is only available via the Internet, so I was stuck with an unfinished job and 900 screws I couldn't use.
I tried to purchase Senco phillips head screws to finish the job, since a phillips head bit is included with the gun. Senco has gone bankrupt, so their screws are no longer available.
I had to borrow a sheetrock screw gun, purchase individual screws and manually insert 600 screws one at a time to finish the job.

Documentation I've read while researching my purchase of this gun implys the extention can be removed, allowing the screwdriver gun to be used without the extention. The included and Hitachi website documentation is extremely POOR. It states areas should be lubed, but its up to the user to figure out where lube is needed.
No part numbers are shown for the bits (which break after 2,000 screws).
The bits themselves aren't shown anywhere in the documentation either.
None of the documentation shows the screwgun and the extention in a combined fashion.
Nor does it show how to disassamble/assamble the extention to the gun itself.

When it works properly (about 80% of the time), it's great, otherwise it sucks.
To say it's BADLY OVER PRICED is an under statement.

I'm only buying a replacemnt LOX bit so I can use the 900 or so screws I now have left over on some other future project.
I wouldn't buy it again.

We have been using these PC 19.2 hammer drills for building cisterns (big concrete boxes that catch & store rainwater) in Haiti for several years. We surely use them well beyond their intended capacity, we regularly drive 3/8" lag bolts & endless numbers of 3" wood screws. The drive in the drill holds up incredibly well, we get about 18 months out of a battery on average, I don't know how many discarges and recharges this is but we are well satisfied with the package. We try to be vigilant about completely discharging the battery before charging. We have a circular saw that uses the same power and it is very well built and very handy but it uses up a battery in short order. The chargers do charge in an hour and hold up well considering the power source we use fluctuates.

DS200-s4 Worked well after glueing in the bit. The provided bit locks into the screw gun with a ball bearing and a grove around the bit. After about three screws being driven the bit would pull loose from the driver. I ended up glueing it in with gorillia glue. Contacted Senco and was provided no help. Senco agreed to send me a new bit, but the bit never came. Called Senco again, they provided no additional help. They basically said that this company probably removed the Senco bit and replaced it with a generic bit. Senco's only advise was to bring it to one of their authorized dealer, which is 25 miles from my home in the city of Philadelphia. Watch out for this drill... I purchased most of the new M18 tools with extra batteries etc etc. and this particular drill broke the 2nd time I used it. I had the side handle on it and while using a hole saw it snapped a piece off the drill itself(the piece that holds the side handle on) the cheap pot metal drill casing/body broke right off . Now it cannot be used with a side handle and there is sharp metal on the body of the drill exposed..Not so "Nothing but Heavy duty"! In all my years of using cordless tools on jobs I have never seen anything like this, why they did not use the standard ring type side handle clamp is beyond me. Also the drill cuts out under load like the other reviewer mentioned and the battery life is no more than my Dewalt 18volt Ni-Cads. This is an ok [edit to] a quite good drill for a homeowner, but it does have power issues for an 18v, [edit] however it has plenty of power for the homeowner. Also, do not even bother to use the bits that come with it for anything more than light work otherwise they will disintegrate, which will leave you wondering how tough the drill can be. That said, the refurbished (at $80) seems worth it; although after I bought this someone Craigslisted a Dewalt 14.4v hammer drill for $40 that I wished I had bought instead, maybe that is why I am pessimistic about this drill.
But it is a little cheap feeling and looking: the battery pack is a little bit loose, the plastic isn't too hardy feeling, its power isn't quite as high as most 18v that I've used, the lowest clutch setting seems too light, and I'm not convinced that the battery has a long life--although with two and the charger for the homeowner that is a non-issue.
The level is nice and useful, the charge indicator is also quite nice, the handle attachment is alright, it feels balanced, and I hope I'll get a lot of use out of it (I'll probably post an update after a while to mitigate my current pessimism or at least provide a more complete review).
[edit] After one month of got quite a lot of usage, and moved it up to a four star drill. I read a review that said shortly after purchasing it, the user put it under strain and it had a funny smell and a lose piece at the tip but worked great for years. I have had the same experience, lets hope it keeps going strong for years.

I must start by saying I'm a big fan of the DeWalt 18v line. There isn't much they make that I don't have. When I saw this was available, I thought it would be a great addition to the tool bag.

That said, it's just too heavy for all day use. They batteries last, but my arm doesn't. I can't say for sure if it's the weight of the tool or the balance, but either way, it doesn't work well for me for all day use.

It is a good tool for a few screws here or there. The motor is plenty powerful and the depth / clutch works well. I use it when I'm supervising a crew and am needed all over a job site. This is a great product, its not really an industrial air hammer but it is versatile enough to make short work of pretty much whatever you need done around the house. I have been completely satisfied with this product. I have used it daily on the job, working in adverse conditions (rain, cold, heat, any combo of them) for over 6 years. Started with the standard batteries and bought a 2nd drill with the new ni mh batteries 18 months ago. All batteries still work great. Both chargers still work great. (even though the older charger won't charge the newer batteries). One drill was even dropped into a full hot tub without lasting problems. I find the 12v driver to be light enough for extended use and still powerfull enough to drive long screws. If you are only doing occaisional work, the 14.4v may suit you better. My corded drills don't really wear out as the key parts can be replaced but after many years with a Milwaukee stud drill I decided to try to find one that was lighter and had a dual speed range. In metal the low speed range is necessary but in wood it can be a time eater when the drill has more than enough torque to handle the higher RPM's. It has reverse but then so do all my other drills. When I get a bit stuck in metal reverse is critical if I want to retrieve the bit without breaking it.

The drill also has an unusually good case for a DeWalt drill and on par with the excellent cases from Milwaukee, Skill, and Porter Cable. The case serves more to protect my other gear from this drill than vice versa.

I use the DeWalt DW124K mostly with auger bits on wood or drilling in metal or very large holes in insulated wall panels. On increasingly rare occasions with a self feed bit in wood. For the past year I have been using a 18v cordless drill, also a DeWalt drill, the DCD970, with its 3-speed gearbox, and the new big gullet hole cutters from Blue Boar. The DeWalt DW124K is rated for 4-5/8" self feed bits and 6" hole saws in wood but the reality is that it just takes too long with either cutter. With a modern TCT hole cutter I can cut 3 holes for every one with the self feed bit and I don't need a 13 lb. stud drill, just the DeWalt 18 volt cordless drill. I have used the DeWalt DCD970 18 volt cordless drill to quickly cut 6-1/4" holes in inch thick OSB subflooring using one of the Blue Boar TCT hole cutters.

The DW124K does not have DeWalts ALC anti lock control like its smaller corded 1/2" drills but then it never has worked on my DW249 drill anyway so no loss. Great concept if it worked but from my own experience ALC only provides a false sense of security that quickly leads to injured wrists.

DeWalt rates the DW124K at 1/2" with a twist bit in metal but I have had no difficulty boring 7/8" holes in mild and cast steel so long as I keep the RPM's low and use cutting oil. Important thought to use a sharp bit and preferably a cobalt drill bit.

Something that is not obvious until you actually pickup the DWK124K is how great a job the DeWalt engineers did at distributing the weight along the entire length of the tool. It feels like half the weight is supported by each arm instead of more like 80/20 with other drills like the Milwaukee Hole Hawg. So even though it's about a pound heavier than the Milwaukee (and has about 25% more power than the Milwaukee) the end result is that it is a lot less tiring to use overhead for extended periods of time.

The only part of the tool that I would change is the handle which has recesses for the head and tends to rock up and down while you are working the drill. No big deal but more of a minor nag with an otherwise very well designed tool.

You can really tell that the tool industry is really competitive with new tools and new refinements to old tools coming out all the time. Seems like more new innovations in the past 3 years than in the prior 20 years with power tools. Would be nice if that competitive spirit was not such a rarity these days instead of company execs trying to get no-bid contracts from the government by bribing their local congressman. Gives a whole new meaning to "buy American".
