As with twitter and other social media platforms, people are always searching and looking for easy ways to make money on-line. Especially in this economy. Most marketers have probably heard of Magpie, Sponsored Tweets, or Revtweets where people are paid per click or sale on the ad that is posted to their twitter account(s).

These advertisements range in the amount one can be paid for joining these ad networks and there also dependent on how many followers you have to whether your signed up as a pro or basic affiliate.

As a marketing enthusiast I have learned to keep my options open to "value." It doesn't necessary matter the industry, but the way I personally look at it. If I'm already doing, using, or have a way to leverage what I'm already doing or using and it's at a great price, in this case FREE. Then I look at it and say, "it's worth a try! What do I have to lose (besides time of course)." Others hold no value in FREE and that's fine too.

So when my buddy Norm sent me an e-mail a while back about earning $ to simply look at roughly 5 texts a day I really thought to myself that this could be just another time waster. When I actually signed up and got the e-mail and watched the video I was pretty shocked when I started to do the math.

Most people, or I should say most negative people will look at it and say to themselves 'another one of those things' before they even learn a single thing about it or how it works. Admittedly, I really didn't need another thing on my plate.

When Robert Kiyosaki published The Business of the 21st Century, I was already confident that network marketing was going to grow by leaps and bounds. But I had NO idea of the places where I was going to see the industry grow by leaps and bounds. Just when I think I have seen everything Network Marketing has to offer, I'm surprised yet again by what turns up.

Twitter Tuesday Social Snob!!

We always like to have our own space within social media. Certain boundaries, so to speak. Many tweeps take offense to etiquette violations within social media. You don't have to look at your stream very long to come to this realization.

Here we are in a world that projects instant gratification. Everything is fast food, 24 hours, instant coffee, drive thrus, we want it now mentality. We keep hearing all the social media hype, the "ROI"; people of all kinds using social media to connect like never before.

There's new people entering the space everyday, every hour, every minute, every second of the day. And that's a POWERful thing. There are social media services here one day and gone the next. The newbie enters the space often mis or under informed. It's like attending the pool party your friend invites you to, that's not his party. You get invited and he says, "the people who invited me said to tell EVERYONE."

People just keep showing up to the party and before you know it, all the people who were at the party early are now not having as good of a time as they did when they were by themselves with their small group. People just keep showing up and jumping right into the pool having a good time . My question to the early arrivals, the social media snobs is; who said it was your party?

There are social norms like a proper introduction, having a natural conversation, and building a relationship when you show up to a party you were invited to and knew better. But, if you had a big party but it wasn't at your house, it was in Times Square, would you really get annoyed if someone you did not invite showed up? Would you get irritated with all the guys on the sidewalk peddling everything from jewelry, glow sticks, and stuffed animals? Probably not.

I have noticed how many people get annoyed when you shoot them a link (I was guilty of this in the past) I was misinformed. It's even more hilarious to me when there are ads everywhere from your mail, tv, e-mails, the side of someone's car, at the intersection, on your receipts, and credit card statements. You know this is the short list. It's obvious we get bombarded with marketing messages ALL DAY LONG! It's completely acceptable in our society as a whole, in case you (the snob), haven't noticed.

I'm not gonna single out the "social media gurus, wanna be gurus, and social media snobs" who are getting ever so annoyed with all the social media "spam" entering the space but has also been there since the beginning (notice how I didn't use "their"). But seriously! What did you expect? Are you having a party where only the social elite of NYC can attend right in the middle of Times Square?

You can get annoyed, irritated, frustrated, and tired of all the spam, solicitations, marketing messages, mlms, and offers that come across your streams or inboxes every single day. But guess what? It's not your party, so stop your whining!

Twitter Tip Tuesday Got Hack?

Have you ever been woken up by repeated text? It's like an alarm clock when it happens. I happen to crash at my buddies house last night and he said, I got a DM from you last night but you were already sleeping. But when it's late at night you're not at your peak performance level it's too much energy to think. So needless to say he didn't think twice about it. Me, I was in la la land.

Fast forward to this morning. I have a bunch of DMs (Direct Messages) and @replies instructing me to change my password. Obviously I took the time to do get that done because they all had been receiving spam in the form of DM from my account.

But here's what he did find out. He noticed when he clicked on the link he was taken to a twitter log in screen. The problem was he later realized the url for the twitter home screen was spelled 'twitterlr.' Apparently, it was a screen capture page that looked exactly like the twitter home page except they take your information and hack your account.

He had worked in IT for years and he explained that it's a password ID capture page then sends it off into a password file. He explained people in his industry had to learn how to build interfaces to capture this information as a test. Essentially a mimic'd layer that looked exactly like the twitter home page but took our IDs and passwords and placed them into a different file to wreak havoc on everyone's morning!! Not very nice kids!!

A as one of my tweeps Jim messaged me and said, "someone is always trying to screw up a good thing." Ain't that the TRUTH!

Technology has so many great uses. Unfortunately, with the technology come very creative minds who use the POWER of these and other platforms to wreak havoc in our lives. In this case I just have to take the good with the bad and not give them any negative more negative energy other than frustration. Tomorrow it will all be forgotten. Unless someone doesn't check their twitter account until then.

Twitter Tip Tuesday NO Junkies Please!

Where do you go when you need to fill your information bucket? When you have questions about places, how tos, and or the newest social media happenings? I'm sure you go straight to facebook right?

Here's a quick fill in exercise. Seek and so you shall ______?

I remember being pretty naive about twitter, but with facebook seemingly changing weekly these days, I see twitter becoming even more popular. I've heard several grumblings about facebook's new changes. If you haven't heard about the changes yet, I'm sure you can ask someone who is constantly inviting you to play farmville. They'll get you caught up to speed or you can just get on twitter and search for the information yourself. I'd advise the latter (there's a pic below), you're more likely to get better articles than consulting a know-it-all, #imjustsayin ;)

Some pretty interesting feedback about all the new changes and I have already seen a small migration away from facebook. Some realize twitter has never been better positioned to reach more of the masses (credit facebook). That's obviously in my humble opinion. It will be interesting after all is forgotten in a week or two about all the facebook changes to see if this has some long term side effects either way. I do understand one thing, CHANGE is constant, especially when referring to facebook these days.

When people ask about twitter, I like to think of it more as a Google meets facebook. You still have plenty of social interaction and can immediately connect with people from all of the world, in your city, and everywhere in between. When you need answers, where do you turn? For some, Google would be tops on that list. For me, large scale conversation and articles I go straight to twitter. If you suffer from S.A.D.D. (Socialmedia Attention Deficit Disorder) like me, I have just the site for you to search your brains out. Tweetgrid is one of my favorite sites to search twitter. I LOVE this site to be able to search up to 9 streams at 1 time. That's a POWER tool right there!! Time Leveraged twitter search baby!! It's quite the twitter fix and will lead to overuse!

For the newbie, I think a site like this can only accelerate one's learning curve. You can also perform most of the basic tweet functions right on tweetgrid's dashboard and even more. This tool is beyond cool! Power tweeting and search all right on 1 screen. Warning!! It May be tougher for the visually impaired. You'll see what I mean.

Be mindful of how much time you spend on tweetgrid. You can TRUTHfully spend hours searching the world only to realize a few hours went by as quick as it took you to read this article. You've been warned. Let me know if you find what you're looking for.

Twitter Tip Tuesday; Scheduling Your Attention

Do you ever feel like there are days when just life gets in the way? When those days are here, is your first thought about what you need to post on facebook or twitter? If you're sick in bed with the flu that's one thing. Moving, traveling, or just wanting a day off to play on social media is a whole other ball of wax.

When we get sick we can't necessarily plan for certain events. When these things happen we generally call our boss, who more than likely we're afraid of, and take advantage of a sick day that we 'supposedly' earned or is a benefit to us. Or do we just welcome the sick day with child like enthusiasm as an escape from the proverbial same old same old?

If I planted a seed and you just need a day off this I have a link at the bootton of the page with some tips and tactics on calling in sick.

In the world of social media we can always take a few days off and it seem like we never missed a beat or a day. Less of course your friends keep asking you questions and you're no longer able to respond their questions or posts in real time. But it's social media right? Who's really paying attention? ;)

For sick days or everyday, scheduling tweets has to be one of my favorite things about twitter. You can publish 60 percent of your content before you even decide to have coffee. That's pretty cool huh? We won't even get into the array of POWER tools that are out there because you may stop reading my post now and not get off your computer till your eyes are all but closing from exhaustion with all of the fun stuff that's out there.

There's one such tool over there!

But here is what I will share, scheduling tweets for the newbie is something you will want to learn sooner rather than later and will relieve some of the pressure of worrying about when and what to post. Once you learn how to do this, you will LOVE twitter for sure if you don't already.

Timely is a great site to learn the very basics behind scheduling tweets and the bare basics of analytics (measurements). Tweets that get retweeted are measured along with your click throughs (how many times a link has been clicked). In a very short time I was learning about what types of tweets speak to people's interests and the basics of a term we hear all the time but may not necessarily know or understand. And that is 'Ad Copy' (marketers always use cool terms). I realized pretty quickly that incorporating words like funny, fun, simple, or even asking questions were more apt to get clicked on then just saying... here, check this out. As you can see from the pic below, now I have to work on my content #imjustsayin

If you're already famous on twitter, like Gary V, all you may have to do is say check this out, and about 300,000 raging social media lunatics will come running just after he hit the tweet button. Me, I have to usually do or say something controversial just to get a click or a retweet (don't know if you have been following long or not to know the TRUTH about my controversial episode). At least using timely, I'll know how many times my link was clicked. It's social media right? I guess you are paying attention.

Twitter Tip Tuesday; Some Do's Some Don'ts

If you LOVE Twitter like I do you already know twitter streams run deep! Tweeting for the newbie always comes with streams of questions. Most of them being internal. At least I think so because of my own experience with twitter. How often do I or should I tweet? What do I tweet about? Am I tweeting right? Well, that all depends. If you're a twitter newbie and just trying to get your footing, you should have a 'plan' or better yet ask yourself is there an end result? If you do not have a direction (I didn't for the longest time!) , do not have an end result you do not know what that direction is yet. Then just tweet about what interests you in your daily life. There are certainly some do's and don'ts when it comes to tweeting and here are just a few that I think if I had known would have helped.

Some Simple DO's

Tweet Daily

It doesn't matter if you're playing Monday morning quarterback, today's politics, the stock market's flash crash, or your momma jokes. There are always people talking on twitter so just simply introducing yourself and getting in a conversation will not be wasted text. Especially just getting in the conversation

Make Friends

Twitter is so easy to just engage with people with just about anything. But what will happen over time is when you get to know someone you develop a relationship with that person. I have more than a few people on twitter where we have short conversations about a variety of different things and have never actually met them. It's pretty cool actually to learn about people and what they do through social media. Besides, it's just fun!!

Provide Value

Whether you have a direction or not, if you're mindful of providing some value for your audience people will begin to pay attention to what you have to say. You may have just found the best happy hour in town, found the best cafe, or just read the best book. Some people just like quotes. Quotes are powerful to tweeple! Either way, share what you have learned and you can almost bet someone is looking for that information or will just become a lil curious. And guess what? They will just find you.

Some Definite DON'Ts

Are you a Pitcher?

Unless you're name is Roy Hallady, Josh Beckett, or Tim Lincecum your tweets should not all be about your product or service. This happens a lot because you have a lot of internet marketers or products that show how to pitch their product via twitter and other social media platforms, but then most don't consider that people buying their products are new to internet marketing and social media. So what happens is you can always find new people on twitter and all they're doing is pitching their product and services. So what you need to do is mix those tweets in with what you're already doing. If you think of the 80/20 principle you should be fine. That's 80% about everyone else and 20% about you. That would be a good place to start.

Hashtag NOT Hashtags

I recently came across a post where the person was commenting on hashtag etiquette. You have many social media purists out there constantly keeping score of what everyone else is doing. For the newbie who is just so excited to be building momentum, they start placing multiple hashtags in their tweets. This is considered to be a 'dirty' tweet and is frowned upon by the social media snobs. For the record, I used to do this all the time too and had no idea :) So here's a tip! Only use 1 hashtag if you can help it, but definitely no more than 2. It should be placed at the beginning or end of the tweet so it does not disrupt the natural flow of reading the tweet. There are obvious situations where it has to be a part of the body i.e. hashtag is part of the quote because you also have a link. That's fine, but just be mindful.

Don't DM Me if You Don't Know Me

Direct messages are ways to send messages through twitter that you wouldn't want the rest of the world to see. So if you're exchanging information like phone numbers or e-mail addresses and things to that nature use the DM feature. It's also a way to send a more personalized message for the user without having to post it so the whole world can see. So it's pretty obnoxious when we have not even had a single discussion to be throwing a link my way that's not beneficial to me or for me (did I say that right?). If someone sent me a link for a free code for dunkin donuts I would be pretty happy guy. On the other hand if I get a link for your latest and greatest product and you haven't even said hi & I don't know you or your brand, then that's not cool. I can read that in your profile.

Twtter is just plain fun once you learn how to use it! The TRUTH is you have to use it and figure it out as you go. When you figure it out you'll begin to use twitter for the POWERful tool that it is. Till then have fun tweeting Tweeps!

Twitter Tip Tuesday Don't Forget to Mention...

I've recently become a huge fan of Marie Forleo and if you have not had the pleasure of watching her videos, you're robbing yourself of educational enjoyment! So I recently red her book How to Make Every Man Want You:How to Be So Irresistible You'll Barely Keep From Dating Yourself . Slow your role! I'm straight, that's the TRUTH. As a marketer you read people's stuff to figure out and learn from the people who are already successful... she is quite the teacher and I can relate w/her on a few levels. Plus I figure I needed to get inside the head of some successful women. So I gave her a shout out on twitter because I really did enjoy her book. It's AWESOME by the way pick that sh*t i up! Marie being the ever so approachable woman as she is, of course responded w/in 24 hrs. Do you think she know's how to connect with her audience? There's so many people missing the boat this. Don't be that guy! Or gal.

Now that you have made a few tweets and your posting away. Posting your thoughts, feelings, your projects, and what's going on in the world. Are you also building friendships? Are you asking questions? Are you giving shout outs?

In Dale Carnegie's, How to Win Friends & Influence People. There's no sweeter sound to someone than to hearing one's own name. Or at least in twitter's case, seeing one's own name. Remember, in the world of social media or word of mouth marketing, it's not what you're saying about yourself. It's what other's are saying about you. So if you have a cool website, logo, or product and someone else is commenting about it. That's a good thing. People like the LOVE but are so caught up in what they're doing most forget to even say thank you for following. Not a big deal though. If you really want to make friends and build up a following take the time to mention others especially if they're in your niche, city, organization, or even if you're just a fan of what they do.

@replies or mentions about others will get you noticed. I know you can't really keep track of what thousands of people are doing daily. But you can keep track of the ones who mention or engage with you. All you have to do is click on home from your twitter page and click on @ mentions. The way you're followers and following lists are listed is by the most recent. So as long as you're looking at your list periodically most of those people or at least the ones who are actively engaged should stay top of mind. Just take a few mins to go out of your way to acknowledge as many of the real tweeps as possible and give em a shout out or two. :)

Twitter Tip Tuesday! WORD!!

Sunday is normally the day I start to frame my article for twitter tip Tuesday. I figured because I was starting to get the hang of this blogging thing, the procrastinator in me would and could figure out what I was going to write later. As I was researching some profiles on twitter, I was wondering how so many people I had come across didn't tweet anywhere near the amount I did, but had TONS more
followers! Me just wanting to figure out why, started to read a few more profiles. I took a few notes down as to write some bits and pieces about their profiles that I liked. Then it HIT ME like a ton of bricks. Nine of the 10 words I had written down were all KEYWORDS pertaining to a particular niche. Wow!! No one ever said I was fast, but the TRUTH is eventually the turtle gets to his destination. Later I sensed a level of frustration with myself. I realized my profile was not 'attracting' as many of the right kind and number of followers that I wanted.

Personal growth is a term that constantly gets used in all areas of marketing. Why? Pretty simple. If you thought just because you learned something new about social media, marketing, or yourself and that's where it was gonna end... you already know that you are sadly or happily mistaken! We are constantly stretching ourselves and our minds through oftentimes sheer frustration in learning all that goes with internet marketing, social media marketing, and network marketing.

My newest aha moment came when I recently attended a SEO meet-up. There was so much emphasis based on keywords, which was a little bit over my head, but I got a lot out of it. As the week progressed I found myself looking for examples in domain names, tags, posts, and other pieces of branding and content that encompassed key word theory and practice.

From day 1 of internet marketing from books and video trainings I had read and heard the term keyword. Keywords are POWER in a box and allow you to attract the audience, relationships, and resources that you are looking to build on with social media platforms. It's crazy to me now. Looking back on something that I looked at as being such a small piece of the puzzle, winds up being such a large piece of the puzzle!

What started out as a blog to learn about blogging and to pass on information that I learn as I struggle through the learning and growing process as a whole. Has turned into an education for the marketing/social media newbie to share my triumphs and sometimes disastrous failures with those who are on the same path. I have already made some pretty cool relationships along the way too. I can safely say, others can learn from me and my mistakes just from reading my blog alone. So if you're just getting started and you LOVE what internet marketing can do for you and your family. Time freedom and leverage of what network marketing promises. The fun and new relationship building that social media provides. Then just know; you will be stretched in ways you never thought possible and you'll always be able to share those aha moments as they come to you. Even if you missed the big KEYWORD that was there there the whole entire time.

When Good Intentions Go BAD! #Creep

People need to understand that when we give our information to all of these companies and platforms, that information is in public hands. I can't speak for other people. When I USE this information I'm looking to develop strategic relationships and to show how this information can be used to connect with like-minded people in social media. If I can help someone in New York find customers right outside their front door, is that information not valuable for people especially business owners?

If you know me, you know I spend a little bit of time on social media. And for a while now I have been blown away by some of the tools that are out there on social media. On earlier posts, it's no secret, I believe twitter is the most POWERful tool. Twitter is also the platform that I LOVE the most. You can meet and greet tons of people and "search" for people related to your interest, professions, and passions.

I have learned about sooo many interesting and useful tools on social media that it's nuts! I couldn't believe the things one could do and people to identify in social media. I have been currently brainstorming and using certain tools to use in an e-book that I'm currently working on (I may have to somewhat rethink parts of it).

Before twitter revamped their policies, you could find who, where, and what people were tweeting about on your street! If you're neighbor's kids were tweeting from their smartphone you could know what they were going to be doing that night and with who they were hangin with.

I have had a relationship with a few people on twitter that I wanted to test my theories of social media precision marketing. I wanted to use all the public platforms to perform searches based on info that they posted. From there I was able to find more information than I bargained for. Knowing this individual was in the service industry, I wanted to show her a few platforms she could use to directly engage with customers profile of her 'best customer.' I had asked this individual to DM on twitter on a previous post or if I could look her up on Facebook. I was denied. I think, certain things should be kept off social media. Besides, twitter is too short for what I need to get out sometimes :)

Knowing I could have used another platform, I just thought someone would find it flattering if I sent a card and asked to DM on twitter. BOY! WAS I WRONG! Here's the card I sent. This is the other side Here's what I will share, most people know twitter is searchable. Here is someone who I previously asked where they worked in NY and there could be a chance that I could stop by. She willingly gave me this info, but did not want to DM me. Is it me or am I just missing something? Here's why I had sent the card. Knowing New York has tons of foot traffic and she is in the personal services industry (read her profile). I wanted to show her that I had learned tons of stuff that she could use and apply in her business. I figured I could help her "BLOW HER BUSINESS UP," with social media. Unfortunately, one persons message can be heard 10 different ways by 10 different people. I guess after her stream of tweets, flowers are definitely out of the question. Had I been able to stop by the bar where she is employed, because I do know people on that side of city. Would I be a creep? Knowing she posts this information regularly. SMH!

We always hear about privacy issues on line. We probably don't explore or attend to the issues at hand enough. I will say this; from my point of view, what you post is public info. Social platforms have in their hands a lot of our information. Don't believe me? If you tweet, post on facebook, yelp, tumble, stumble, checkin, like, flickr, watch tube, or just sign up. You can be found. Pretty quickly too I might add. It's really not hard. Worse, if you tell the world you're going out of town or going to work in these tough economic times. Don't be surprised if something you possess is taken from you or worse your house gets broken into. Social media tools have just made it a lot easier. It's a good thing most of the people using it are using it with good intentions. Think about this. How many times have you gotten something that was a marketing message that didn't have a return address? Is that so uncommon? Guarantee if you look up my address you'll find it with ease.

Personally, I like to see the good in people although I know there are some not so good people in this world. If anything, I hope that you can learn something from my situation and obvious misunderstanding. People will say good things about me, others will say bad things about me. It's not the attention I wanted. But people are talking! The Truth is, that's the world of social media we live in.

Twitter Tip Tuesday; B.E.

Using twitter the first few times I remember typing out some tweets and following a few people of interest. For the life of me I can't remember many of those people. I do remember being surprised to find others that I knew who were following me. Now I realize, then I had no clue as to what I was doing. I remember even thinking to myself this is stupid, why is everyone talking about this. I'll say it again, this is stupid... why is everyone talking about this.

Millions of other people had already realized the value in such a POWERful tool. Me I just was frustrated and out of frustration I simply gave up and labled it stupid because I understand the tool fully or realize it's value. A friend once shared w/me... if you ever want to learn anything, chances are there's a book already written about it. Boy he was right. So I went to the bookstore and bought a book about
twitter, if you read my bolog you already know this.

There's millions of conversations going on at one time. When most people learned that you can pinpoint and connect to your customer on social media. Droves of people and businesses wanted in. In case you haven't noticed, over 70% of the US population is on facebook and twitter is still growing at an obscene pace. The things people like and buy, where and who they associate with, what they're talking about is all out there. The same with twitter, just in 140 characters or less. Everyone wants to be where the eyeballs are and so do the businesses. Unfortunately, social media platforms as a whole have turned into an absolute pitch fest in most cases. Why? I have people trying to sell me stuff and they haven't even asked my name or learned one thing about me. I sat back and asked myself, do I do this? And after thinking about it. Being TRUTHful with myself I realized... at times sure. So I asked myself, what should I do to change what I'm doing. I thought back to the social media basics. Know, like, & trust. Be Engaging!

When you meet anyone for the first time, what do you do? Chances are you ask them a question? The powerful thing you can ever do is to ask someone a question. Obviously you can make a statement or pay someone a compliment. Just asking for help, directions, or a simple how are you is the spark that can get the fire started and is the first step in 'building a relationship.' After all, you wouldn't walk up to someone in Dunkin Donuts and say I have this great lead generating system! Their response would be,"who the hell are you" and "wtf would I need that for." However, in this day & age of the Internet and social media chances are she knows someone who could benefit from using this system.

So why not do things the old fashioned way in a new world. Be Engaging! Say Hi, learn my name and let me learn yours. Take notice of what people are doing. Allow me to do the same if I want to. If we like each other, then let's help each other. IF we LOVE what we do, lets share it with the world always keeping in mind the 80-20 rule (others/self). So while you're out there; BE friendly, BE passionate, BE nice, and BE you. Hi I'm Danny it's nice to meet you. <handshake>

Twitter Tip Tuesday; Can You Cut Through?

In a room of 200 or so people, if you were just broadcasting what you wanted to say to Jimmy who is all the way across the room in the corner, do you think he would hear you?

To get Jimmy's attention on twitter it would be a little tough if I was saying something out loud and just wanted jimmy to hear it even though he is all the way across the room. In twitter we have to learn to cut through the noise and get directly to Jimmy. There are two simple ways to this.

1. The @reply
If Jimmy is talking about the end of the NFL lockout and his Patriots signing a couple of questionable players. You could respond to Jimmy and whoever else is in the conversation. Your reply could look something like this;"@jimmyrice @patsfan do you really think Haynesworth is a good idea? Tell me the TRUTH!" This @reply is seen by whoever is following your tweets. Should Jimmy respond to your question his @reply would look something like this; "@backatcha only time will tell if he is truly has his head in the game." When others who are following Jimmy see that Jimmy is having a conversation about the Patriots, that common interest is where someone may follow you. Hence another follower getting in the conversation & building a relationship.

2. The DM- Direct Message
You and Jimmy decide you want to have a conversation over the speaker phone as to not being distracted by twitter. So you decide you want to exchange phone numbers, but do not want to put it over the twitterverse for everyone. The direct message allows for 2 people who are following each other the ability to pass twitter sized messages to each other privately. This is great for people and businesses. It's a very, very, POWERful feature. If you as a restaurant or retail store want to pass on a free gift or amazing offer to your customers. One way is through DM feature. It's a very cool thing to use and that's connecting with your clients and community. With such a feature I can't for the life of me figure out why more people aren't doing this. Just think what kind of LOVE @firstsight relationship you can have with your audience. Don't believe me? There's a couple of examples just below. I would use my own account, it's just I haven't figured out how to use all this stuff just yet. Once I do I'll use all my own sh*t.

Priceless Passion! Where's Yours?

When I hear so much about passion and purpose I sometimes struggle with finding my clear cut direction it makes me wonder if there's something wrong with me. The struggle can be so tough... dreams may get crushed before they ever get started. That's how I was feeling before I WATCHED a guy on video that I had heard so much about, but never took the time and initiative to learn about. This guy is passion personified and runs on controllable high octane emotion. But before I tell you who he is I would like to share a story with you.

When I was immersing myself in this whole personal growth thing. I had heard about this guy and his book. The 1st gentleman who told me about said to me,"It's an incredible book. The Guy is amazing."I had never heard about the author at the time. I do remember asking a few other people about it afterwards and I do remember getting a so so response from someone else. Here's what kills me. If the 2nd guy knew what the hell he was talking about I could be so much further along in this Internet marketing thing it's ridiculous! I wish I could even remember who that person was because obviously that guy is and idiot. Does that would make me one too? It's my own fault for not knowing then what I know now. For the life of me I can't figure out how just the story behind how a D/F student as a youth goes on to help his dad's liquor store blossom into millions by hosting a wine show over the Internet. Then he begins to sell wine over the Internet and begins to build what is called by some a media empire. By now you have to know who I'm talking about and if you don't just watch this video so you can get a glimpse of him.

If you thought Gary Vaynerchuk was high energy in that clip, I can't wait to show you my 2 favorite videos later this week. This was the elementary school version. Wait till you get the frat boyGary Vee the speaker. Unbelievably motivating; I take no shit & NO excuses Gary Vee! His stuff has got me soo jacked, he had me rethinking how to deliver my messages (not that mine are of importance... yet). But seriously I LOVE this guy because obviously we have the uptight corporate mugs on video everyday with zero personality. But guess what? We, or at least I, don't remember them when they're done speaking. With Gary Vee, he speaks with so much POWER & TRUTH you feel shockwaves coming through your computer screen. The book I was alluding to earlier was Crush It! And Boy does he do it daily! The value of pursuing your passion is just so huge in his message you will never forget this guys name! EVER! Seriously, you might leave this blog just to go scurry for the videos I'm talkin about. If you find them good for you because it's not so hard. If not I guess you have to stay tuned in this week & til next time. WARNING the next video will be 10 mins short! Clear your schedule!

Twitter Tuesday: Follow Whoever You Want!

Social media is the place where we can share and broadcast our message with people all over the world with people who have the same interests or should I say like-minded people who you follow and follow you. For some who do not fully understand twitter, is the reason why I decided to write twitter tip Tuesday in the 1st place. Besides, it just rolls off the tongue.

I have had this question twice this week about following others or who to follow and the etiquette of the "followback." Well, that all depends. I like to follow authors, marketers, internet marketers, bloggers, seo guys and gals, friends, and interesting people. For obvious reasons ;0) The TRUTH is that's a lot of different interests. There are some people who just follow their friends or their sports. They literally just treat twitter like a newsfeed. Which is fine too. People follow you or me because of something we said, something in our profile, something we like to do, or they just plain "like" us!! If someone follows me I like to read their profile and decide for myself if I want to follow them or not. If there's a local landscaper in my area and they decide to follow me because I tweeted that I'm cutting the lawn. I'm not going to followback the landscaper. I was cutting some one's grass once and don't have a lawn of my own. So what would be the benefit? The landscaper certainly doesn't know this but he's trying to establish new relationships. I can't blame him for trying.

On the other hand I like to keep up with what's going on with the New England Patriots. What benefit would they get out of following little ole me? *shrug* So I don't take it personal if I don't get followed back by one of the premier franchises in professional sports. Oftentimes I just may be following someone as an informational resource and to quickly stream through lots of information. If people like my tweets and we engage with one another, than that's fantastic too.

I know as I rule of thumb, it's been said that you don't want to be following more than 1.5 times the people who follow you. It's so you don't look like a twitter whore just following to be following and not contributing to the 'conversation.' I'm just as guilty of this sometimes. I come across so many people in marketing, internet marketing, blogging, and social media marketing that I tend to follow simply out of interest. Not to mention I LOVE to read a ton of books and follow what people are saying. It's the easiest way for me to connect with others on the things we're passionate about. There's so much stuff of interest out there or like my friend Patrick says, "stuffocation." I know I'm never going to get to it all, but there are always things that do catch my eye from time to time.

One way to gain more followers is to send a tweet to a person of influence. This is POWERful! From time to time if I send out a tweet to let's say someone like Darren Hardy. I do notice a spike in my followers that day especially if he sends a @reply back to me (a tweet to a particular person everyone can read). And by the way, Darren Hardy is pretty awesome about connecting with his fans!!!

Team followback is pretty interesting. If you like to get followers, just generally follow anyone w/that hashtag and they will follow you back. The problem I find is that I see lots of not just the mundane but also cursing, pornography, and all kinds of things I had ZERO interest in, for whatever reason. The good thing is if you have the time to play around and navigate through all the noise you can connect with some of the coolest people you will ever meet. Trust me on that one.

When I need specific information I can just search through their content on their blog. So there is a method to the madness for me that's for sure and I do try to monitor those numbers. But understand it's not on the list of my priorities when I'm on twitter. And as we stand right now, I'm above that 1.5 ratio so to speak! Time to go drop some people I'm following!

Twitter Tip Tuesday, The Question?

They say the most POWERful thing you can do when engaging is to ask a question. Twitter does that. Right at the top it says,"What's Happening?" That's why there's also a lot of confusion to the non-twitter users and the dynamic of social engagement. That's why it's perceived as the mundane of people just talking about what they're doing at work and what music they're listening to. There is someone in the twitterverse who is ALWAYS interested in what you're doing and what you're tweeting.

As you know I LOVE to read books. Especially in the areas of marketing and personal growth. And when I read a very good book I like to tweet certain quotes like most tweeple do because at the moment it's readily on your mind. Those profound parts of a book that makes you say, I have to tweet that! You can always find quotes from Malcolm Gladwell readers on a daily basis and from all over the world and that's the TRUTH (iI had to get that in). He's that popular. If you haven't read Outliers or The Tipping Point you're completely missin out. The aha moments we have to share with the world! Other people around the world are having those aha moments simultaneously and twitter is the easiest place to connect with those others doing or saying the same thing. It's a constant conversation. I don't know about you, but I can bet most of my friends do not read or do the same things that I'm doing these days. That's starting to feel more and more like a good thing. Especially all the new people I have met at Barnes & Noble most recently.

Truly connecting with like minded people is easy to do. People have so many different interests you can spend a couple hours a day on twitter and wonder where the time went. Discussions can range from the Red Sox, NFL lockout, the debt ceiling, and all the way to Antarctica. The only thing that is limited on twitter tends to be our own thoughts. So if you don't know what to tweet, check out the #trends on the right hand side and that's what most people are talking about right now. The creativity is there to explore and thousands of people to meet whether they're in your city of Phoenix or out of the country in Brazil. It is it's own universe... and feel free to jump into any conversation and ask a question. Just keep it to 140 characters or less.

The F Word

Has anyone ever told you that you're doing something the wrong way? And that you're doing more damage to yourself doing it the way you're doing it? If this has ever happen to you, how did that blow make you feel? In hindsight there's not too many things that can soften that kind of blow. Defensive..? Maybe a little angry or upset! I know when I recently heard this, it didn't came as a shock to me, but I certainly didn't feel like it was constructive. Why? Because I've been playing the game of life sometimes too safe. Rather than waiting to do everything perfectly, I figured it was better to learn by going out and failing miserably to my best ability, than waiting for someone to "show me the way." After all, I've failed at life so far by playing it safe. Why not fail at something you'll learn from and get better at as you grow. Isn't that what's life about in the 1st place?

I LOVE Marc Ostrofsky's book Get Rich Click. In it he writes;"Very often, failure and mistakes reveal valuable knowledge that will increase your chances of future success." Up until the time I had read this book, I had asked plenty of people, whether it be on line or in person, to help me out as far as showing me or explaining something to me. I know it's tough for people to stop and have the patience and time to set aside from their busy schedules to help someone. For someone like me who is always so eager to learn new things, waiting around for the perfect idea and the right direction was costing me valuable time. I remember Darren Hardy from Success magazine drove this point home to me. He said,"Go out and fail.... A LOT!!!" That was pretty much it. Learn as you go because experience is the most valuable teacher.

So as I continue on the path to success, I know I will come across many more "brick walls" that I will smash into and undoubtedly hurt myself trying to get through. Branding and Word Press are the most current brick walls I have encountered. As long as I continue to get up and find ways to get through, around, or over the walls I know it's just a matter of time. Why? Because the TRUTH of the matter is this; it's better than waiting around for someone who says they want to help you, but their help comes with a price. Time is the one commodity we all share and is valuable to all of us. I will use the time to fail towards the future. I'm willing to fail A LOT. So the F word... here I come!! There's a lot of POWER in a bad word.

The System Saves... ??

As an athlete in the spirit of competition. We play to win the game! A la Herm Edwards. But in any type of team sport we players have to play within a system. What's a system you ask?

A system is a sum of working things to comprise a whole. So when a football team takes the field, there are only 11 players on the field at any given time all playing in unison to achieve the common goal. You may have heard of this before... skeletal system, nervous system, or even T.E.A.M., Together Everyone Achieves More. But before you can ever take the field you have to first learn the rules of the game and practice the fundamentals.

That's where I hope this blog can help you. It's helping me! To answer the many questions I had about the internet/network marketing industry but was too afraid or embarrassed to ask i.e. why are 2 on 1s so important? What is personal growth? But most importantly what kinds of questions should you ask to know who's team you're really on.

The system is a system for a reason. McDonald's is a system. Starbucks is a System. Fed Ex is a system. Everything from as samll as the type of paper that's used in the register to the same uniforms being worn half way around the world. They do it for a reason. There's a method to the madness.... a consistency if you will. Systems are proven!! That's why more than 80% of franchises are successful and why more than 70% of small business flat out fail!

So when you ear the word system, it can relate to virtually any type of business. But generally it relates to a SUCCESSFUL business that is already proven. All the guess work has been taken out. Do dumb it down even further. S.Y.S.T.E.M.- Save Your Self Time Energy & Money. Yep! Is it beginning to make sense for you?

So if you play to win the game, you wanna play in a system like the famed westcoast offense popularized by Bill Walsh or the triangle offense that Phil Jackson has employed with some of the greatest players of all time in Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant (I can't believe I just wrote that and I'm a Boston fan). Because at the end of the day, you don't just want to get on the field, you wanna play to WIN the GAME!

So let's get off the sidelines and get in the game and play for real!!! It starts with sharing this post and leaving a comment. Take Care.

The POWER of Pound #

Another twitter tip Tuesday.

Harnessing the Power of twitter for search can be amazing if you're posts can resonate w/others. The hashtag (#), "number sign," or "pound sign" is used a variety of ways on twitter. It's used mainly as a way to index subject matter that people are talking about. Hashtags allow you to ZERO in on search by topics of interest to you and engage w/people who have similar interests.

Hashtags always Precede the keyword or keywords of reference about your tweet topic or subject of interest. So for instance, if I wanted to talk about books it would look something like this: #books. You can be specific like hashtagging the title of the book or author i.e. #napoleanhill. Hashtags can help you build relationships quickly. My case in point, here's an example of the power a hashtag can have.

I like to read books, as you already know, and I happen to be in the middle of a very powerful and controversial book by Napolean Hill titled, Outwiittng the Deveil. I felt so compelled to tweet some quotes about the book as I was reading it. After making a couple of posts I was connected w/someone who had finished reading the book. Her name is Christine and she lives in Maryland. She was able to view and read a whole stream of tweets about the book in the matter of seconds. The reason why she decided to contact me was because I had PLS RT & Connect. Up to that point, she had made me realize that I had never put the word connect in my tweets. There has been a whole segment of twitter that I have been missing out on and that is the ability to connect!!! Talk about an aha moment! So when we actually worked out the logistics of when we could talk we had an AMAZING conversation over skype where it just seemed like time just stood still. We talked about our passions, the books we LOVE, personal growth, our dreams, and our frustrations. The best part! Where we are in our lives with our relationships w/God and even though we are in different opportunities we both felt that people in our industries don't make the commitment to help one another regardless of what our opportunity is because we both have the same goals as far as where we want to go in life. Too many marketers are missing the boat on personal growth and team success. We were practically finishing each others sentences and our conversation was just a lot of fun! I'm already in Christine's inner circle because she reached out and connected with me. I was fortunate enough to meet her husband and she connected me with another INCREDIBLE individual. His name is Roy! And that's a whole different conversation for a whole different post!!! The TRUTH is, GOD is Awesome and he is at work in all of our lives. We all can feel God is at work within all of us. And to have synergy like that in just a single afternoon is a true blessing and I want the same type of experience for you!

So use your hashtag to sift and sort through a lot of the twitter noise that's out there. Sometimes that's me causing some of it ;) Find those who have the same interests or who compliment yours. If you like to read but don't like to build web pages, build relationships with those web designers and share the important chunks with each other. Best of all you'll make new friends that will attract plenty of value and richness into your life while time will feel like it's standing still.

Twitter Tip Tuesday

When you know as little as I do about social media tools that are out there. I often feel the need to educate people or share what I have learned. Because if I don't, who benefits?

Twitter comes up in so many conversations, unfortunately most of the conversations I hear off line are about the mundane aspects of twitter. Quotes and what Jim is eating for lunch. Not that facebook is any different ;) Before anyone can understand what twitter is, they should understand what a blog is first. So I'll do my best as a social media novice to explain in laymans terms what twitter is.

A blog is a platform where pages upon pages of information or content can be posted. Similar to adding posts to a binder. It can be a personal journal or a specific focus. It could be ramblings and drunken nights of debauchery. Which I don't advise you post if you work for a fortune 500 company or in politics. The beauty of blogging comes in the form of being able to search for content or your interests. Just type in a keyword or phrase and viola!! Like magic an article from 3 years ago gets served up like you ordered it straight off the menu that didn't exist.

Twitter being a "micro" blog is just that. A miniature version but on MASSIVE steroids! Unbeliveable power to search content simultaneously vs. reading or checking 1 blog at a time. So if you search for controversial commercials.. you might find this http://bit.ly/bDevrc I thought this was pretty interesting.

The message known as tweets represent a bird chirping. Short bursts of expression... short bursts of text; 140 to be exact. Some people agree that if you can't say what you need to in less than 140 characters, then you probably don't need to be speaking. And yes! That is being a little harsh. Quick and to the point! That's a tweet. Elevator pitch style. The goal from there is to either click on a link which appears in the tweet or from the profile of the person tweeting. If that makes sense. So you could be following certain industries or certain people. You can follow Paul Pierce to Barrack Obama, Seth Godin to Lady Gaga, and your best friend to lil ol me! That's my plug! You can connect with all kinds of people from all different walks of life. Twitter can be a fun and amazing place for you and your followers.

Real Relationships

This post is relevant for so many reasons and on so many levels. If you have had the pleasure of reading any of Robert Kiyosaki's books, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, you already have a grasp of the asset/liability relationship. The author goes on to state that most business majors in college, other business professionals, real estate agents, and salespeople ALL should know and understand this relationship. Sadly, most do not. After you read this blog and have an understanding yourself then feel free to poll people in the above mentioned professions and see for yourself if his predictions still holds true today. But just for starters, what does this relationship mean to you? Is it your car insurance..? Your car payment? Or your home insurance?

With a firm understanding of this relationship. Asset and liability can never be separated. It's like a quarter. You can have heads or tails. One person or side is heads and the other person/side is tails. Winner/loser... in this relationship there really isn't a "win/win" let me explain.

How much do you spend on insurance for your car per month and year? I'm going to use $1200/yr as a nice example. Month after month after month you pay for insurance whether it's liability, collision or whatever insurance coverage you have. And you pay it subconsciously. Month after month; year after year. If no accidents occur, how much money does the insurance company return to you? You would be correct if your answer is ZERO. Let's take it a step further. After 5 years of paying for car insurance, if you don't get into any accidents, how much money does your insurance company pay you? You would be correct again if your answer is zero.Two points for you!!! :) You, the insured would fall under the asset column of the insurance company while the insurance company would fall under you as a liability. And we do this subconsciously every month like clockwork. From now till whenever you stop driving. This is just one example.

Let's use real estate in our next example, shall we? I once asked a server I recently worked with who had just purchased a new home if her house was considered an asset or liability (she also had a real estate license and I had recently finished a Robert Kiyosaki book). So I was doing the whole 'polling thing.' Her response was asset. My question to her was,"how so?" She explained that the equity she would build up over time would be considered an asset. Cleary an asset can build over time. But she failed to recognize a basic point: money or value that ends up in your pocket is an asset. So until the home is actually sold with enough proceeds to put in one's pocket, it is a liability. Until then she's, paying the mortgage for a huge liability, and one that has to be insured for some time. Clearly a mortgage that is paid monthly is a HUGE liability. The only time a home is considered an asset is when the mortgage and expenses is less than the rent collected. Now we're just talkin about the basics as seen in the diagram below.

So think of the asset/liabilty relationships that currently exist in your life? Trust me there's more than you think. Don't worry... I'd like to help, but you'll have to wait for my next posting.... NAH!! Let me start now. Car, car insurance, a home if you have one, cell phone(s) for you and your family, cable, internet, gas, and electricity (just to name a few). We won't get into banking and credit cards. YIKES!!! And sometimes it's you're significant other (Yep! I said it!). From here things will get pretty interesting and a lot of people will have a hard time accepting or swallowing the TRUTH. But it will be my pleasure to serve it to you and anyone else who takes the time to sit down and digest it. The simple premise is this. If it takes money out of your pocket it's a liability. If it puts money in your pocket it's an asset. Robert Kiyosaki explains that the trick is to turn your liabilities into assets. The secret is anyone can do it. You just have to know how. I bet I know what your next question is!! How do we do that Danny?? That's a GREAT question!

Simple. Somehow, through either becoming a business owner or entrepreneur, you can turn items like the ones discussed before into small puddles of profit or assets almost immediately. Imagine a leak that has small droplets of water dripping into a bucket. What will happen eventually to the water driiping into the bucket? The bucket will start to overflow. This represents droplets of money/income dripping into a bucket. There's ways to do it... LEGALLY of course, trust me on that one.

Liabilities ALWAYS cost you money throughout your entire lives. Assets simply provide income or ROI (return on investment). It's not always easy to understand this concept initially. The real AHA moments come to you as you go about your everyday lives. (But once you can truly appreciate it especially after a few of Robert Kiyoski's books). When you can begin to apply principles to your life that are so beneficial and of great value, that you will want to kick yourself for someone not showing you or explaining this information to you sooner. My personal favorite Robert Kiyosaki book, hands down is Conspiracy of the Rich. I LOVE this book and how simple it was to understand. I remember feeling disgusted and enlightened all at the same time.. pretty incredible if you ask me.

As you can see our country is struggling with a recession and unemployment. You hear about a lot of entrepreneurs in the news advising our future young leaders to not attend college. Do you think there's a valid reason behind this and this asset/liability relationship? You also hear about the greatest shift in wealth the world has ever seen. Do you know what that means? Do you know what industries they're talking about? I know what they're talking about... if you care about your future you should know and understand what they're talking about too. What does your future look like?

You have the potential to change the course of your life. And it can start with something so simple as a book. Put a lot of potential assets in your hands today! Hello Breakthroughs

I'M JUST SO PUMPED RIGHT NOW!!!! You have no idea how much of a major WIN this was for me to just get a blog UP and running. I know there's sooo many techies and critics out there just laughing at me right now! But it's true! I come across so many people, including myself (I know that sounds awkward :), who love blogs and socialmedia; know what they are and how they work... yada yada yada; but have never physically produced one thing or ever sold a single thing on the internet except for using Craigslist. So right now I will give myself a much deserved pat on the back w/a party on the dance floor regardless of who is going to criticize me or be the "thermometer"......The thermometer vs. the thermostat is a whole notha blog for a different day!

For so long I never had the patience nor the skills to accomplish something like this. But guess what?
I FINALLY did it (Memorial Day when I actually pushed the publish button)!!! And it feels like a major hurdle has been overcome, hence the BREAKTHROUGH and boy does it feel powerful!

So it's with that, that I officially say HELLOOOO to the blogosphere!! And I have every intention on helping those who struggle to do the same or who just suffer from analysis paralysis and excusitis like I have for far too long. To achieve what most would consider a small but overwhelming task of starting your own blog. This my friends is a VICTORY with a capital V. And that's the truth, regardless of any grammatical or spelling errors contained herein!
