Toei has copyrighted the name of their next proposed Super Sentai Series.

Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger will be the name of the next series.

translated into english meaning Pirate Team Goukaiger.

Okay, so I got some new information from Toku Insider regarding the Goukaiger series.

Each of the Goukaigers will be able not only to transform into their core form, but they will be able to transform into a Ranger from any of the previous series. The core colors are Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, and Pink.

To transform into an alternate Ranger of their color, they must yell "Change Sentai Name". For instance, if GoukaiRed wants to become Akaranger (the very 1st Red Ranger in Super Sentai history), he must put a small figure of Akaranger in his belt and yell "Change Goranger".

If GoukaiGreen wants to become Dragon Ranger (from Zyuranger), he must put the Dragon Ranger figure in his belt and yell "Change Zyuranger".

The villains practically have the same power as the Goukaigers except they can turn into any villain from the past 35 series.

I think this would make quite a series as it would be a true homage to the entire Super Sentai Universe.

Toku Insider revealed possible casting for the 35th Anniversary Super Sentai Series

GoukaiRed - Doori Sakurada (Kamen Rider New Den-O)
GoukaiBlue - Marika Fukunaga
GoukaiGreen - Seigo Noguchi (Tomica Hero Rescue Force)
GoukaiYellow - Mari Iriki
GoukaiBlack - Shingo Yashiro

Rumored that the henshin device will be a "pirate sword" and the series will also bring back Rangers from the past 34 series, including Akaranger from the very 1st Sentai series, 1975's Himitsu Sentai Gorange

Power Rangers Samurai Will Air On 02/07/2011

Saban Entertainment distributed the Power Rangers series from 1993 until the end of 2001, and Fox broadcast it until the fall of 2002. The Walt Disney Company purchased the franchise as a part of a buyout that took place in 2001.^[1]^[12]^[13]^[14] This resulted in Fox Family Worldwide becoming ABC Family Worldwide Inc.^[14] This buyout also saw Saban Entertainment becoming BVS Entertainment, fromNews Corporation, Fox's parent company, and Haim Saban.^[14] The show continued to air on Fox until the company replaced its Fox Kidspackage with "FoxBox" in the United States. Since September 2002, all Power Rangers shows have aired on various Disney-owned networks (ABC Kids, Toon Disney and Jetix channels worldwide).^[12] ABC Family, another Disney-owned network, also used to air Power Rangers until it did away with its Jetix timeslot after August 31, 2006. On February 12, 2009, Toon Disney ended in the wake of Disney XD, ending cable airings of Power Rangers in certain areas of the United States. Several ABC affiliate broadcasting groups, most notablyHearst-Argyle Television and Allbritton,^{[citation needed]} have declined to air most of the Power Rangers series since 2006 due to the lack of FCC-compliant educational and informational content in the programs.^[15]

An article in The New Zealand Herald published on March 7, 2009 identified RPM as the last season of the Power Rangers run. Production manager Sally Campbell stated in an interview, "...at this stage we will not be shooting another season."^[3]^[16] A September 1, 2009, revision to Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia by Disney's head archivist Dave Smith states that "production of new episodes [of Power Rangers] ceased in 2009".^[17] On October 1, 2009, Bandai released a press release that Disney would re-broadcast Mighty Morphin Power Rangers starting in January 2010 on ABC Kids. A new toy line accompanied the series and appeared in stores in the later part of 2009.^[4]^[5]^[12]ABC's over-the air telecasts ended on August 28, 2010, as they returned the hour back to their affiliates to do as they please.

In mid-2010, Haim Saban's Saban Brands bought the Power Rangers franchise back from Disney for $43 million^[18] and will produce a new eighteenth season of Power Rangers, now subtitled Samurai, which will begin airing on Nickelodeon February 7, 2011,^[7]^[19] with the previous 700 episodes being rerun on Nicktoons sometime in early 2011.^[19]^[20]^[21] It was also announced that Saban plans to make a new Power Rangers movie.^[22] On July 26, 2010, it was announced that Saban Brands awarded the international television distribution rights for Power Rangers to MarVista Entertainment

Remembering Thuy Trang

2009-11-10T05:12:00.000-08:00

Thuy Trang (Vietnamese: Thùy Trang, December 14, 1973 - September 3, 2001) was a Vietnamese American actress. She was best known for her role as Trini Kwan, the first Yellow Ranger of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers franchise.

Early life

Trang's father was a soldier in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and was defending the capital Saigon from the Communist Vietnam People's Army during the fall of Saigon in 1975. The Communist forces overcame his battalion, which was low on ammunition and air support, during a fierce battle. He decided to return home to retrieve his family, but the route was blocked by the North Vietnamese Army. Fearing for his life, he fled South Vietnam and was given political asylum by the United States. He vowed to bring his family to the United States and contact U.S. government officials to politically pressure the Communist government of the unified Vietnam.

In 1975 the rest of the family (Thuy, her mother, two brothers and a sister) were forced to flee Saigon and in 1979 they secretly boarded a cargo ship along with hundreds of other persecuted Southern Vietnamese traveling to Hong Kong, with the ultimate aim of reaching the United States. Trang herself was very ill at the time and almost did not survive.

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, Trang's father petitioned the U.S. government for political asylum for his family. After some time living in a Hong Kong detention camp, Trang and her family were reunited in Little Saigon, California in 1980. The reunion would be short lived, however, as her father would die of cancer in 1982. Trang began to study kung fu around the age of nine.

Trang graduated from Banning High School and earned a scholarship to study civil engineering at the University of California, Irvine, planning to follow her father and older siblings into engineering. However, around 1992 she was approached by a talent scout, sparking an interest in acting.
[edit] Acting career

During 1984, Trang played a small role in an advertisement for Scientology, though she herself was a Buddhist.[1]

Through the talent scout she got small roles in a couple of TV commercials/advertisements before getting her first major role in 1993 when she landed the role of Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger, on the original cast of the TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Trang was on the show for about one and a half seasons. She left the show along with Austin St. John and Walter Emanuel Jones, with whom she became very good friends, and was replaced by Karan Ashley. She went on to play Kali, one of the lead villains in the 1996 movie The Crow: City of Angels.

Earlier the same year, she also appeared in Spy Hard as a manicurist. However, she was incorrectly credited as a masseuse, her credit being somehow switched with Tara Leon, who played a masseuse in the same short scene.

She was set to appear in Cyberstrike, which never entered production. Trang also appeared in a video documentary called the The Encyclopedia of Martial Arts in 1995 as an interviewee.
[edit] Death

Trang died in a car accident at the age of 27 on September 3, 2001 near San Francisco, California. She and former actress/model Angela Rockwood-Nguyen (Dustin Nguyen's wife), to whom Trang was to be a bridesmaid later that year, were passengers in a car traveling on Interstate 5 between San Francisco and Los Angeles. They were returning from visiting Rockwood-Nguyen's planned maid of honour when the driver (another of the bridesmaids) of the vehicle she was riding in lost control. The car swerved violently across the road before hitting the roadside rock face and flipping several times before hitting the safety rail and plunging over the bank. [2]

Rockwood-Nguyen, who has claimed both that she was[3] and was not[4] wearing a seat belt in different interviews, survived despite being thrown out of the vehicle through a window before its final impact; she is now quadriplegic. Trang, who was believed not to have worn a seat belt, died from the injuries she sustained. The driver did not suffer any lasting injuries.

Her Power Rangers co-stars Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost attended the funeral and memorial service.[5]

Trang was cremated a week later on September 10; her ashes are interred at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.

The episode "Circuit Unsure" of Power Rangers: Time Force was dedicated to her memory.

JASON DAVID FRANK: FROM POWER RANGER TO MMA

2009-11-08T00:17:00.000-08:00

A few years ago actor Jason David Frank was used to hearing the familiar sound of fans yelling, "Go, go Power Rangers!" but now he's ready to hear the roar of a different crowd.

The former action star from the hit series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" has officially made the move to mixed martial arts, and while training with UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard, he hopes to make his real fighting experience as successful as he did on television.

Frank signed on with Suckerpunch Entertainment recently and hopes to make his professional debut in the very near future.

"I was supposed to fight in 2007, but it fell through. In truth, I’ve wanted to put the work in until I’m ready," Frank said in an interview from the Suckerpunch website. "I know I have a target on my back. Everyone is going to want to beat up the Green Ranger. But I am no Kimbo; I’ve been training for a very long time. I wanted to get in there before, but I got injured. But I’ll be ready when the time comes."

The actor-turned-fighter is adding a ground game to what he believes is already an impressive stand-up resume, but he knows it's a long road to not only becoming a mixed martial artist, but a successful mixed martial artist.

"My style was missing the ground fighting. I have my blue belt in BJJ from Gracie Baja now, but we needed to have that ground game integrated into Tose Kune Do. There was a blank there. So we added wrestling, BJJ, etc., to it," Frank said. "Melvin Guillard has really helped add the wrestling. I needed to get with someone who could put it all together for me, and that was Saul Soliz. And he’s done it. He’s a good, hardcore trainer."

Proud of his time as the Green Ranger on the popular television show, Frank is ready to move onto new goals, and he hopes to conquer MMA the same way he did television.

"Just to go out there and do my best, and prove that I’m a real fighter," Frank said about his goals in MMA. "I’m not looking for any titles specifically. Ultimately, I want to give my fans something to watch and be proud of."

Adorable Amy Jo Johnson, who plays the picture-perfect Pink Power Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, is a force to be reckoned with - both on and off screen. As the Pink Ranger, she is able to show both a masculine and feminine side, believing that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. In real life, she is a sweetheart who knows how tough the acting business is, and can adapt herself appropriately. This Libra likes balance and Amy successfully balances an active personal life, which includes charity work, with an active professional life. As a Power Ranger, she must often make personal appearances, something that can often become grueling. Amy, however, has learned to turn them into positive experiences by making new friends with fans across the country and even staying in touch with some. As a Libra, Amy hates when the apple cart is upset, but she learned to adapt to changes that happened last fall on the Power Rangers set when the Black, Red, and Yellow Rangers were replaced with new actors. She also took a quick liking to the lush grounds of the Sydney, Australia Pavilion, where the Rangers filmed their hit summer flick. Amy's hobbies include the martial arts, reading and excercising. She feels that the Power Rangers are good role models for kids and disagrees with those who think the show is violent. She stresses that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers emphasizes that good always rules over evil, and that martial arts provides one with a better means of self-defense than more violent alternatives. Amy thinks that everyone should be able to defend themselves. The stars show that in the coming year, Amy will be able to gradually make the transition from TV to movies. Last summer, she filmed Suzy-Q, a feature with Lois & Clark's Justin Whalen. She also revealed a secret desire to pursue a singing career and is determined to record a demo. As the popularity of MMPR levels off, Amy will hone her acting and singing talents and become a real force to be reckoned with!

PRESS RELEASE: Bandai America Powers Up Like It’s 1993; Brings Back Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in New Toy Line

2009-11-06T23:04:00.001-08:00

Bandai America Powers Up Like It’s 1993; Brings Back Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in New Toy Line

Fans and Families Can Celebrate Pop Culture Phenomenon with “Power Up Video Challenge” Contest; Over $11,000 In Cash Prizes Up For Grabs

(CYPRESS, CA – October 1, 2009) – Go! Go! Get your Power Morphers – it’s Morphin’ time! Bandai America will bring the best-selling Power Rangers toy line back to its intergalactic, prehistoric roots with the “five teenagers with attitude” that started it all in a new collection of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys. The inaugural and most recognizable of 15 Power Rangers themes, this powered up Mighty Morphin line will feature both fresh and nostalgic play and collection experiences. Including action figures, vehicles, Megazords and role-play items aligned with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series premiering Saturday mornings January, 2010 on ABC Kids; the highly anticipated toys will begin to arrive at retail by the end of this year.

As the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers took over the air waves – and your brain waves – in 1993 they made an unforgettable impact on pop culture. Showing that heroes come in every color, teamwork conquers all, and girls really can rule (unfortunately for good and evil), they took entertainment and play-time by storm. With three TV seasons, a motion picture and thousands of toys, the Power Rangers have spent 17 straight years in the top ten best-selling boys’ action figure brands in the US according to The NPD Group.

“The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers captivated the country in 1993, and many kids who played with the toys now have children of their own,” said Tim Wills Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, of Bandai America Incorporated, “Families can experience their ‘morphin’ time’ once again as a whole new generation of kids are introduced to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys.”

“I’m tickled pink to have had the opportunity to be a part of this juggernaut children’s action series and brand,” says Paul Schrier, former Mighty Morphin actor and director, “The good-natured humor and strong messages of teamwork and friendship really hit home with audiences everywhere and I can’t wait to see what’s next from this fountain of heroic action!”

To kick off the refreshed toy line, fans and families will get ready to battle not only for the salvation of the universe, but also for $11,000 in cash prizes in Bandai America’s “Power Up Video Challenge” contest. Consumers will be challenged to view a Power Rangers “cliffhanger video” online or at one of more than 2,000 movie theatres in the U.S., and then submit their own unique ending in a mini-movie or story-board at Bandai.com. Selected by both peers and a judging panel, the winning video and story-board entries will receive $10,000 and $1,000 in cash prizes respectively. Participants learn more and enter to win between October 1 and December 15 at www.Bandai.com.

Despite some of the rumors circulating the web, the Power Rangers are not going away in 2010. Disney and Bandai America continue to be committed to the Power Rangers Brand. In fact, Disney is producing a Season 18 and Bandai America will continue to develop action figures and toys for fans and collectors of all ages. Over the past seventeen years, the Power Rangers have been on Earth, in space, on the moon, under water, traveling through time, in the jungle and anywhere evil lurks. They’ve battled Rita Repulsa, Divatox, Master Org, Dark Spector, Toxica, Jindrax and many more evil-doers – villains who have been shrunk to miniatures, tossed in jail, reduced to ooze or banished. As Bandai America looks to the future, the Power Rangers toy line will continue to morph into action battling against evil. we probally wont see any new toys except for the new mighty morphin power rangers ones but a new power ranger season and toys should be out sometime in 2011
