Toooo funny! This could be us tomorrow night - they're talking about snow in Houston, of all places. If so, the whole town will be shut down. Southerners have no clue what to do when the white stuff starts falling:-).

Got me too, I don't always pay attention to bad news, so you got me to watch it thinking something BADDD had happened.
Fortunately it is nothing worse than the minus 20 degrees we are experiencing in Colorado or Snow in Dallas the week leading up to SuperBowl Suday.
Oh, the horror!
At least we know how to handle the cold and snow without passing out . . . or expecting the army to save us, though they are just down the road . . .

not sure how that "sums up toronto" - stereotypes and generalizations are dangerous things in my opinion. was just celebrating the great comedy, and the irony of snow being such a surprise to torontonians -- i remember 8 foot snow drifts being normal and even unremarkable in my teen years here. it makes me smile that now, after years of very little snow and short winters, 20cm evokes any response at all. seems like we've gotten a little spoiled... :)

Uhmmmm, yep, pretty much sums up Toronto. People who don't know the "snow history or hysteria" story behind it will probably just shake their heads and wonder. But I'm just nodding, uh,hummmm. It really does define the "attitude".

I think that's what I find most funny about this video...it's a parody on toronto, on people, and on the media - who can make even the flimsiest of challenges sound like a terrorist attack. Hat's off to Rick Mercer, (<a href="http://www.cbc.ca/mercerreport/video.html" rel="nofollow">The Mercer Report</a>) - one of the smartest funnymen alive.

Good news on that front: the snow hasn't killed tv, cable, and the 'net - so we're good on the hockey fix. Maple syrup is another story though...down to my last half bottle and anxiety levels are gettin' high...

really, in Totonto? ... Escondido in northern inland San Diego County has snow once every 20 years. We had no help from the Army neither, except the SUN helped a lot. ... and it melted competely by 4pm. It was overnight snow in Jan. 1986 [20cm] and again sometime in 2005 [just 5cm].

Hahah, Lou.

You joke about this...but seriously, it was amazing how much news coverage there was about the snow here in Oklahoma yesterday! Normal programming was cancelled for most other shows. It was all about the snow!

Hey Lou!
My god what a horrible thought, Torontonians having to deal with such terror.
But look on the bright side! Whiarton Willie and Punxsutawney Phil, both agree it's going to be an early winter.
Now off I go to shovel the roof before it caves in, never mind trying to get out of my driveway.

Cheers - has anyone seen my mucklucks and touque!

Snow in Toronto!
It`s about time you guys get the same global warming treatment we get from the rest of Canada.
Vancouver should be the surprised one. But there is snow in Vancouver. The Olympics, are they finished?
Snow in Toronto. That will give you an occasion to learn how to drive a car. I am shure people of Toronto can benefit from global warming after all.

Hello Lou,
This is my first time hearing about you or the work you contribute to the world. I have just finished listening to the replay call you hosted with Rick Raddatz. Talk about timing, I totally needed to hear this information. Nothing happens by mistake as I just happened to pick Rick's email out the 111 I have in my inbox. I instantly jelled with your relationship marketing system and sought out to learn more about you.
Finding and taking time to read this article was an added bonus to the call. I am a solopreneur , need I say more? Thanks for who you are and the life assignment you have accepted, it is appreciated.

I would highly recommend using <a>Optimize Press Theme<a> with Wordpress instead. It is a one off payment rather than monthly. Then use Amazon S3 with either <a href="http://lourecommends.com/ezs2" rel="nofollow">EZS3<a>, <a href="http://lourecommends.com/evp" rel="nofollow">EVP2</a> or <a href="http://lourecommends.com/flowshield" rel="nofollow">S3FlowShield</a>. It integrates these with ease. Plus, if you are looking to create a member site I would use <a href="http://WPMemberPlugin.com" rel="nofollow">Wishlist Member</a> or <a href="http://lourecommends.com/dap" rel="nofollow">Digital Access Pass</a>.
Hi Sue, sorry to hear about your experience. I have had excellent response from the support team on my kajabi site, and so far, so have my clients. Not sure why that's happening.

If you haven't seen it yet, watch this support video on how to embed a video from another platform: <a href="http://support.kajabi.com/entries/296492-how-to-embed-a-video" rel="nofollow">http://support.kajabi.com/entries/296492-how-to-e...</a>

Their example uses youtube video player embed code. Follow the video exactl - it's a detailed step-by-step demonstration - but in place of the youtube video player embed code they show in the example, use the embed code that EVP2 produces for you.

(Obviously, they can't show demos for every possible video player -- that would be unmanageable, and it's the responsibility of your video player provider to show you how and support you - which they will).

Good luck!

We are members of Eben's GuruBlueprint. We have had a Kajabi site now since it launched, and although it can do some things well, the help and support is woefully inadequate. For instance, right now, I have spent two days trying to find answers about how to integrate Kajabi with videos hosted on AmazonS3 and an external video player, like EVP2.

Only the most basic info is available on Kajabi tutorials; and their support people refer you out to Amazon or to the video player maker, rather than just providing you with instructions on what you need to do.

I know this system of delivering video content is familiar to those at Kajabi, because their featured testimonials from the Kajabi launch, Jeff Walker, John Reese, et al., used this video delivery system on their Kajabi sites. The ability to integrate these systems was one of the main features that Kajabi promoted.

How can Kajabi just ignore support requests on this issue?

If anyone knows how to get information on this issue or of any expert coder who is familiar with integrating Kajabi with Amazon s3 and EVP2, I would love a referral!! Thanks, Lou!

I am assisting a person with developing their Kajabi site for a new product launch and membership site. They have the proplan so they can use Kajabi's Krunch technology to have the videos viewed on smartphones, ipads, etc. My issue with Kajabi is the incredibly slow upload time using "Upload and Enclode my 710x400 video, MP4. Just uploading an MP4 video didn't take that much time at all to upload. Has anyone run into this issue? Any suggestions/responses would be greatly appreciated.

Sarah - I understand and totally agree. During the launch, the customer support team was obviously overwhelmed and both the response time and the level of expertise was weak. I have found recently that this is completely different now. We have usually received same-day response lately from the customer support team and they have been both knowledgeable and courteous. MUCH better.

Lorri - I used <a href="http://lourecommends.com/kajabi" rel="nofollow">Kajabi</a> for the recent Video Salesletter Workshop I did (in fact, I'm in the middle of the workshop as we speak). While it's not perfect yet, and still developing, I had a site up and running about 1.5 hours after we finished the launch, and started delivering content the next day.

We were going to hire a tech person / web master, but with <a href="http://lourecommends.com/kajabi" rel="nofollow">Kajabi</a> we found we didn't need one. It's so simple to use, and their support desk has been very responsive and timely when we did need them. I think the time and money savings on that alone justified the choice to use KJ.

I'm still getting better at using it, but so far I feel like it was a great choice for our workshop.

For folks who don't want to go the <a href="http://lourecommends.com/kajabi" rel="nofollow">Kajabi</a> route, I've been recommending they take a look at <a href="http://LouRrecommends.com/optimizepress" rel="nofollow">OptimizePress</a> and <a href="http://WpMemberPlugin.com" rel="nofollow">WP Wishlist</a>. Not free, but affordable. And no ongoing monthly fees.

The sticking point about Kajabi with most newbies is the monthly fee. It's not free, and it's not inexpensive, relatively speaking. For folks who prefer (or are in a business situation) where time is more abundant than cash ... it might make sense to use simple, free tools until they get a selling and conversion system that makes money before incurring (yet another) monthly fee.

On the other hand, there are lots of newbies trying to get a foothold in their markets that don't have the tech savvy to use the free tools, don't know a webmaster they can trust and afford to pay, and just want to get something online fast. .. Kajabi may still be a good choice.

Hi Rebecca,
First off I wish you the absolute best with your father and hope he and you are doing well.

I can tell you this is a huge problem that people are facing everyday.

You might consider doing something with what you are currently going thru with your father and the issues, problems, and tribulations and how you are dealing with them and what other people might be able to do if they are faced with the same situation. Start a blog, put up a facebook page, create a free ebook/report and then start creating content based on what you know and have experienced. Eventually create a course or find someone that you can work with to create a course that addresses one of the biggest problems that us "kids" are now faced with when it comes to caring for our parents with diseases such as Alzheimer's. Either way, just get started doing something to get that experience and if it is already associated with what you currently know and have experience with that could make things a bit easier when trying to develop content. Good Luck!

Wow...this forum has been a real eye opener Lou - thanks for asking the question about such a hot topic!

I am finding everyone's comments very helpful - I am a newbie with zero technical abilities, and was very interested in Kajabi, but I am going to reconsider. Before I completely move on, can anyone advise if you have had a successful experience with Kajabi?

Is there anyone who has had a successful experience?

Lou,

I am in the Eben Mastermind group as well as on your mailing list - I am a HUGE newbie and I spend about 4 ours a days on training to get my business up and going. I have a niche and content just waiting to be released - I am looking for a platform that can help me do that.

When I say Kajabi I had very high hopes. I have never seen any other platforms and I am fumbling my way through the info product process with a WP coder.

I think that kajabi could work for me, but for the price I WANT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I should be able to get someone on the phone and work out my issues FAST. Clearly this service software is aimed at people like myself who want a turnkey solution, but there is simply not enough information to help me move along quickly enough to keep it. If I do not get some customer service in the next few days I will be cancelling my service.

Can I really use video sales letter to sell my personal story? This story is about me a 26-year-old poor man, working in a normal job , makes only around $2400 a month and within almost 3 or 2 weeks I managed to get top corporate executives on the phone without secretaries, managers, ...etc I was able to strike up multiple business deals and negotiate huge discounts like one with the company that branded Microsoft, Nokia, Motorola, Snoop Dogg...etc to brand my company that I'm working on (and I am this little NO ONE)

I always get 0 replies to my status posts, I did only one post and I got 63 replies within almost 2 days. I've been approached by a local news paper, executives and corporate leaders to visit their facilities, I've been offered membership in an international committee for scientific discoveries

and I really don't feel like revealing what I did to do all of this for less than $5000 in a 1 or 2 hour video! I just don't accept it.

Can I do this, or do I have to give it out for free?

Just a quick update - one of my clients decided not to focus on what Kajabi did NOT do, figured out what it DID do, set up a member area and ran a product launch during his two week trial. Put almost $24K in his pocket. I guess what we focus on expands. :)

In the end - the right tool/resource/service is the one that we believe is the right one for us, and that gives us the ease and enthusiasm to market aggressively and move our business forward.

Lou and others
Just wanted to touch base with you to update you where I am at with kajabi...I have decised not to proceed with Kajabi for a number of reasons, it seems to me they released a little too early for mine and it has been riddled with fixes and updates etc. and I suppose that's OK with such a complex combination of technolgies and that concerns me!.
I have researched alternatives and I watched a webinar/blog recently from a guy who had been commissioned to look at "alternatives" to Kajabi, the link below will show what he discovered....amazing the amount of depth he has gone to to see IF there was an alternative!

The Fusion HQ option along with a couple of other really great suggestions like Optimize Press etc. really look like great options and a little more organised and controllable.
I would love to hear your comments Lou I respect you knowledge and experience here!

Thanks for letting me know! Sorry to have posted such a huge comment irrelevantly!

I'd agree that it came to market before all the bugs were worked out, but I'd hardly call it snake oil.

In the last week alone, there have been two major releases that have addressed a number of issues that showed up during the launch and it's getting better almost daily. Yes, it have been better if all these had been addressed before the launch - definitely. But let me share a few other data points...

- I've been able to establish a launch funnel, a membership area and take transactions successfully.

- I've got clients that are creating membership sites and actually doing a launch (in the next week or two); and

- I am part of a mastermind group, many of whom are successfully preparing to launch their sites, and a few of them have already launched (using kajabi).

Is it perfect, no. Will it get better, definitely. But it's apparently at least good enough for some people to have already brought their products to market, and start running launches (which is the basic promise of the product).

I'd agree that it came to market before all the bugs were worked out, but I'd hardly call it snake oil.

In the last week alone, there have been two major releases that have addressed a number of issues that showed up during the launch and it's getting better almost daily. Yes, it have been better if all these had been addressed before the launch – definitely. But let me share a few other data points…

It was launched prematurely and simply doesnt work. The theme editor does not work and there is virtually zero editing that you can do. The more I peel the layers of this thing away, the more its snake oil that was sold under a glorious marketing campagin to swipe your card.

The only hope this project and their reputation has is within the next week to fix all the multitude of bugs that exist in this poorly built "device"

Weird. I'm not experiencing these problems - and I am not aware of anyone of my clients who wanted to cancel having had a problem. As far as I know, the cancellation is instant, as soon as you click the "cancel my account" link in your account admin area.

Now, I can't imagine why they would delete your tickets without replying unless you were being hostile or rude - but I assume you were being very courteous and polite in all your communications - so perhaps they had a technology glitch, or perhaps they were tired from being overworked and mistakenly deleted/closed the ticket.

Bottom line is, if you are going to use kajabi right now, you may experience some bugs and delays as they work to meet the sudden surge in demand from the launch. It's growing pains, and they are working hard to address them. Certainly if this is outside your comfort zone to be an early adopter, you may want to wait a month or two and try again when they've had a chance to settle things down.

Beth - this thread was meant as a place for people to discuss what they found during the kajabi trial, which is now over. I'm guessing there will not likely continue to be many readers now that the trial is over, and it is certainly not intended to be a place for tech support for kajabi.

I believe you will receive more attention and faster response if you post these questions to the kajabi support team, as well as in the kajabi forums. There you will find many more kajabi users than on this post; and you will also get support from the creators of the software (including updates and fixes as they come out).

My client fell in love with the Kajabi launch info. He wants to use it for his new membership model, and hired me to become his "Kajabi expert." The trouble I'm having is, there is so little information anywhere on the Internet that I have no idea how to even approach expert levels with this system. I have several questions that will just help me get started:

I've created a funnel event and a sales page with four "offers" attached to it. I used Kajabi's tutorial to integrate with PayPal, but now when I click on the "Add to Cart" button, the sales page just refreshes. Is there a waiting period that I'm not aware of? Or is there some step I've missed somewhere?

Also, I have absolutely no idea how any of this information gets translated to a separate domain - it seems like the only way to access these pages is to type in the xxx.kajabi.com domain provided to us, which we definitely don't want - if there's some domain registration/hosting available beyond what we already have, I don't know how to access it.

Third: The templates are very plain - stark, corporate, with a minimum level of customization involved. What I'm able to produce using these templates and what my client wants are on different planets. Does anyone know if there is an option to design the pages using HTML? Their current design options are just not going to work for us.

Fourth: What my client wants is a front page that contains "teaser" information about the memberships as well as links to streaming video and audio files that are not accessible unless someone purchases a membership. Is that what my "funnel event" page should be, or is there some way to generate an additional page that contains this information?

Fifth: There doesn't seem to be a way to directly link to the squeeze page I created - it has been published, but I don't know how people are supposed to access it. Typing our Kajabi domain name takes me straight to the funnel page, but I thought the squeeze page, when published, should show up first. Am I missing something?

Sixth: Is there any way to reorder the offers on my sales page without deleting them and starting from scratch in the correct order?

Seventh: My funnel page, which is again currently serving as a landing page for the site, does not automatically contain any links to the sales page or anywhere else - is this something I'll have to add using the HTML feature in the body of the page?

Eighth: All of the membership levels we're creating involve access to certain already existing products. However, I see no clear way to allow a member to access them once they've signed up. Do I need to host them somewhere else, then link to them via posts on the category pages? Or is there some way to upload them so that they immediately become accessible to the members on the Kajabi site?

Ninth: I don't currently see a place where existing members can log in - yet "previewing" the site indicates that there are different pages visible to different membership levels. How do I set it up so that the user can easily navigate it after they've signed up?

Whew, if you've gotten this far you've got more patience than I would have. I apologize if some of these questions have been answered already - I will go back and read through the thread in greater detail. I've also copied and pasted these questions into another support ticket (my third in two days, haha) to Kajabi.

Any help at all would be appreciated! Also, if any of you are feeling especially generous, I'd be eternally grateful for an email - ebwatson@gmail.com - and heck, there might be some free virtual assisting work in it for you! ;-) I'm quite desperate for as much information as I can get, as my client wishes to launch this week.

Thank you!

Kajabi would be perfect for me if it worked how Andy said it does. I have found many things that don't work that were specifically promised in the sales video. The support sucks. They delete my tickets without replying.

Here are some of the things that are not working for me.

1. Squeeze Pages don't work.
2. they said that members can cancel their accounts from within the profile and this is NOT the case. I have tried 4 times to get the support department to talk to me about this and they just delete my ticket and don't reply.
3. Upgrading from free accounts. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work.

It took hours to upload a video on Kajabi; now they have aded multiple upload stream to speed it up; download of media via mp4 is taking a bit too long too start, about 1-2 minutes before it starts, some problem with header location in mp4 format. Not fixed as of 12/24th

Lou, Great foresight!
Kajabi just announced 10/24th that for time being ( tll zillions of problems are solved, and there is greater postive feedback then negative feedback) they are suspending the Forum and user discussions.

Hi Lou,
Thought I would let you know my decision about kajabi.
I was on the call and I appreciated your going through
the options. I choose not to try the trial because I know that my business is not to the point where it can benefit from this tool yet. But I do know it is here and when I am ready I can sign up at that point.
Thanks Lou for all you do for us.

10 hours into my account being opened and I have yet to get a support response to a login issue that is not addressed in the knowledgebase even though several people have had similar problems. I hate to unleash this platform to my customers knowing I can't support them quickly if my business depends on timely information from kajabi staff.

I'll probably stick it out for the 30 days to see if things get better but why oh why did I postpone two launches in anticipation of using kajabi for them? Seeing other people on this blog who are still waiting for videos to be transcoded is scary too. Why aren't there any people raving about this product yet?

I might just be slow on this, but so far I haven't figured out how to set up the site to look the way I want it to... I wanted to have my own header image cover the entire top portion of the site...

Does anyone know how to get Kajabi to collect the first name as well as the e-mail address on the squeeze page? (and potentially other info...)

It's not perfect, but I'm having a lot of fun with it so far...

keep smiling,

Benjamin

(hopefully the webinar will be available as a replay... I have to work, otherwise I would be there)

I strongly disagree, David.

Eben and his coaches continue to overdeliver on my expectations...

I'm struggling with some challenges on Kajabi as well, but I can't complain about a 14 day free trial... when I can cancel at any time.

No, I think Andy is being more than fair with this... and the product has proven itself already... it is just a question of whether or not it is the right solution for a given person/launch/market/etc.

update: Will tells me S3flowshield likely won't work with Kajabi because it would require you to have kajabi run some php code - which it won't at this time. In that case, you'll want to use an embed code from the video player directly (flowplayer, jwplayer, ezs3, youtube, vimeo, etc)

Hi All,

I'm in and getting a few things done successfully (like uploading video, creating community, creating users). I did a bit without tutorials.

One the flip side, I've had login issues similar to what other folks have mentioned. I tried to access the support area and it didn't recognize me as a user, so I had to email them.

I tried to play the video that I uploaded...it spun for at least 20 minutes before I logged out.

I then logged in as a user (free account). The display is a mess (I had this experience as well when I clicked on preview from the admin section. That scares me.

I am just over 2 months prior to launch...hoping that the bugs get worked out as I see some great possibilities with Kajabi.

Cheers,
Ben

Joan - I did consider doing this forum in kajabi, but then realized that once I deleted/replaced the test site with my real site after the trial, that we'd lose all this great conversation.

Even if I didn't delete it, the forum would wind up in a member area (i.e. password protected) available only to members.

Here, it lives on and it's available for the public.

Thank you Lou for your generous spirit for this forum. Kajabi interested me but I am digging into my WP website, my new shopping cart (still loading content but live :)), and in my WP class, repeating for the 3rd time to get really good at nuances from a newbie perspective. In all it's been one intense year. I wondered about Kajabi because of concerns about grids going down and I was fantasizing about 'cloud' computing being some other world of energy usage. I am happy reading all these posts. Seeing your personal backup strategy is great, thanks. It does sound like sticking w/ my WP site and going to a cloud computing server would be a satisfying step if sales inspire growth! Glad everyone is doing their homework on Kajabi and posting a discussion here.
Just a teensy question, might you have made this blog forum in Kajabi, if so would it have been "easy and quick"?

JonBoy - I edited your affiliate links for full disclosure above.

Not to all: If you must use YOUR affiliate links on MY blog *grin*, please disclose the fact clearly so that readers know you may be compensated for the recommendation (y'now all that FTC requirement stuff).

That said, I'd prefer no affiliate links were used so this productive conversation doesn't become one where people may post only for the purpose of injecting affiliate links into the conversation. (Not saying you did that at all JonBoy - your post was great).

Oh, and for the record: I reserve the right to edit/remove any affiliate links (or any posts/comments) at any time, for any reason, and without notice. The Editor. :)

Thanks in advance for your support - I know you'll understand. :)

Hi Christopher - thanks for thinking of me, but no I'm not a Carbonite affiliate. Also -- I'm very happy with the service so far - but I got a queazy feeling while I was on tech support with them late last week when I heard the tech guy say they're not great at backing up more than 100GB too efficiently. It sounded to me like he said they are optimized for a 50GB average backup size -- I could audibly hear his shock when he saw I've got almost a terabyte in the backup. I'm going to be looking at more business/pro level backup options in the coming months just to be sure...and something that will backup external and network drives as well. Just wanted you to be aware of that in case you're in the same boat. :)

Hi, JonBoy!

Wow--what a rich answer, filled with lots of great information and much encouragement. This is all so helpful, and I thank you so much!

The biggest problem I'm having with getting started is simply the lack of big enough chunks of time to focus on any of this. Even with paid caregivers to help me, Dad's care takes up an enormous amount of time and energy. That's why I hoped so much that Kajabi could help me cut some corners. There is simply no way I can learn or do it all myself, so I need to rely on resources outside of myself.

I've recently started mindmapping to help me sort it all out. If you haven't used mindmapping as a tool, I recommend it. It's helping me to feel much less overwhelmed in all areas of my life. It really helps to do a "mind dump" onto the mind map, where I can then analyze what's going on and what my next steps should be. Putting it all down there also frees my mind for creative problem solving.

Anyway...back to Kajabi. I got an email from Andy Jenkins tonight announcing a FAQ area. If you haven't gotten it, I can post the link here. I went there and found it to be inadequate. Sure wish he would jump onto this forum and address the stuff we're all talking about here.

It's really great to have a place to talk about this stuff, isn't it? I wonder why Eben never provided more of a central forum where we could meet and talk. Maybe he's going to invite us to a membership site for something like that???

I seem to keep getting off topic here. Sorry. And thank you again so very much for your thoughts and suggestions. You are very kind.

Warmly,

Rebecca

I just got Carbonite. Just following your lead. They asked who referred me and I said Lou D'Alo hopefully you get credit. If you are an affiliate you might want to put links on the word Carbonite when you post it next time. I like the "export" function just in case.

Part 2 (thanks Lou!)
The penny dropped for me when I realised how important design is and that something called a minisite could as a starter do what I needed design wise. Also there were LOADS of minisite designers out there making great work for about $100. Once I realised that the design side could be took care of I contacted the publishers of XSitePro (my web/HTML authoring package) and said I needed help. They suggested trawling the forums for the software and bingo I came across a handful of designers who were extremely proficient in pulling it all together including my autoresponder, and very patient with my poor experience. I am certain that there will be programmers out there for concrete5. Programmers is probably the wrong word - but guys who use this stuff day in day out and can whiz something up in no time. When my guy married my minisite designs with my xsitepro structure I was a happy boy! My site was alive. Thats one solution. But it also worth checking out the bidding sites mentioned in GBP as they give you loads of flexibility but with perhaps more cost. There are loads of them, with different ways to post jobs. Choose 4 or 5 that seem popular then select the one thats most appealing and has the best process. I used logomyway.com and thelogocompany for my logos. After multiple revisions and lots of effort by all the designers I was vey impressed - cost about $150. I used designcrowd for my wordpress site - cost $300 and still in development but there are lost of WP solutions out there including elance etc. These services are far better than finding a design agency or one stop shop which typically cost me about $1500, with wishlist plugin (for my members) and 3 hours trainig i was looking at $3000. My Asia minisite/WP guy charged me $400 to do everything and install on my host servers.

It is a long path and one thats exasperated by the delays one faces when there are no quick answers and you dont know what way to turn before spending cash or making a decision that may or may not have a repercussion in the future.

Programmers is probably the wrong word – but guys who use this stuff day in day out and can whiz something up in no time. After multiple revisions and lots of effort by all the designers I was vey impressed – cost about $150. I used designcrowd for my wordpress site – cost $300 and still in development but there are lost of WP solutions out there including elance etc.

All I can say is that action moves mountains. And that you will need to budget and spend if you are going to avoid the absolute DIY route.
Hey Rebecca no sweat I know what it feels like and how inspirational a little positive recognition and assistance can be. Here's probably not the place for too much encouragement (but thanks Lou!) so I'll keep it short n sweet. I checked out the comment section in the resources area of the GBP site and I think Gil was exercising a degree of integrity when he/she suggested you go there for a couple of 'interesting solutions'. The CMS (content management solution - pretty much what WP, Kajabi etc is) that is mentioned there is called Concrete5 and in the comments he/she mentioned a plugin that they have developed for Concrete5. So I apologise for my slightly acerbic response (I just hate to see or get half answers as a fellow newbie!) to Gil and any other readers as ultimately they were trying to be helpful without coming across as plugging - I know its a fine line. If its any help I checked out Concrete5 - just an overview - and it looks pretty sweet. The website is helpful with many examples of sites created by individuals and also design agencies. This is helpful because it sort of lets you see whats possible and also if time short design conscious agencies are using it then its got to be good. It is NOT going to do what Kajabi 'promises' but as a easy editor similar I guess to WP it looks pretty slick solid and has a good following. Like all the CMS solutions building the site you want will involve customisation with themes for the general style and intelligent use of practical plug ins for your prospective siite visitors. The themes and plug ins in concrete (like WP) looked good with easy to understand descriptions and practical solutions/benefits. Most were free. So concrete is definitely one for the evaluation list. Heres a general tip for everyone at this stage without a page up yet, and it can be a real stumbling block and a bit of a pill to swallow 'cause its gonna cost. But heres the fact: You will spend ages and ages swimming around in this particular pool if you think that one CMS will deliver what you aspire to have. It wont unless you are willing to get right stuck in (beyond most aspiring marketeers) and learn a lot about CMS customisation, plug ins, design, layout and lots lots more. Thats not to say that it cant be done but it is a frustrating process that best done with help. By that I mean that you can begin the process - I did with a 'solve all your problems' solution called XSite Pro - and quickly find that you do not have the experience to slug it out through all the little quirks and shortcuts that are out there to be able to design, construct and publish a site. I slugged it out as best I could and my result was (for all the time I put in) below the standard that I wanted and knew my prospects would expect. Throughout this process the clock ticked loudly, the frustation dominated my thoughts! I couldn't wait to climb over the hurdle and drag myself out of the pool for the next challenge! ((((this post is split in too as its too long - second bit follows sorry Lou!)

David - allow me to stand up for Eben. I'm in his GURU Blueprint corse and I can he way OVER delivers and Lou's site here I think he's doing a great job. Being in the state of feeling disappointed has much to do with a mindset that is conclusive rather than curious. Sure i could be disappointed with Kajabi or I could be curious and really dig in to find out what it takes to make it work or get really curious in my 14 day free trial asking around if there is a better solution so i can get on with getting my content out to others and helping those who are waiting for me to get my act together. I have a fundamental choice I can be disappointed when things don' t go my way or I can discipline my disappointment and command it to be diligent about being curious. I realize what I'm saying is way easier to say than do. i'm not perfect at it, but when I am in that zone it helps me be much more productive. Hope that helps.

Agree. It's a trade off - I guess which ever is more important and has more weight as you pointed out earlier. Ok, enough of me asking and thanks for your feedback, I so appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

Somebody needs to come up with an app that allows you to do a brain dump - that app will sell like hot cake! Thanks Lou, you are THE BEST!

As far as I know, you can export users/members names and emails - but I haven't yet seen documentation saying you can export the content and community content.

Which actually makes sense since in the same way that you couldn't take a wordpress blog and import it into joomla without some software to map the datebases and themes across the platforms.

If you want to pick up your kajabi community and drop it into another CMS (Wordprss, Joomla, Drupal, etc), I don't think thats going to happen without some programming support (and support form Kajabi to publish their internal database structure).

From that point of view, portability probably rates low. I stand to be corrected - let me know if you get news from the k-team about it.

If you're referring to moving your data, you might prefer to host media on your own amazon s3 servers (or whatever CDN you prefer) and use add into your kajabi member area using embed codes for your media players. But then you lose the ease of use/integration that kajabi offers...

Ah, those tradeoffs...
:)

Check this out. Veriage straight from Kajabi
A. Actually, all accounts now handle overages automatically, and technically they are ALL unlimited! This means that no matter which package you choose, you can start as many projects and have as many active users as you like.
Here’s how it works: At the end of a billing cycle, we’ll charge you $20 for each extra project and a PENNY for each additional user over the amount allowed by your package. Choosing a better package is still cheaper, but if you’re in between packages, or even if you just want to go a la carte, you can. It just happens automatically!

Latest update:

- The videos I uploaded are showing up - it took a whlie, but we got there!

- I processed a sales funnel and payment with paypal -- it worked, but generates a 404 error page. Good to see a paid member in the user area! :)

- Support team tells me paypal integration is not complete and they're working on it. That's surprising given the popularity of paypal, but not surprising when you consider none of their "big guru" beta testers use paypal -- they all prefer to use merchant accounts. :) Still, hoping this gets fixed soon. I take most of my payments right now through paypal.

- Found out that the sales page HTML editor has built in STYLES to do headline, text formatting, and a bunch of boxes -- blue, yellow, solid line, dashed lines, to help prettify the sales letter (for those who want more CSS in their sales letters) Missed it on the first go round. Admittedlly, as others have said - this isn't groundbreaking stuff, but it's at least a bit more convenient and hints at more CSS layout/style functionality to come.

- That means I've gone from a standing start to creating a sales funnel, content for a digital product and a coaching program, a community and adding my first member. Now that I've got my first time through under the belt, it'll be smoother and faster from here on in. Very cool lookin' member area, I gotta say. :)

By the way Dennis, not sure if this is related to what you're experiencing, but I had some trouble logging in early in the process too -- I went to this URL and did the "forgot password" thing once or twice and got in: <a href="http://www.kajabi.com/admin/login" rel="nofollow">http://www.kajabi.com/admin/login</a>

Hi Dennis,

I did also at first, but then I started to try different links sent to me in the emails and found one that looked different when I went to it. That login page worked.

Hope this helps,
