2011 has been a pretty bleak year for The Mrs Gruff and I and some good news at its end is most welcome. There may, in the words of the song, be trouble ahead, we may soon be humming a different tune and there may be teardrops to shed but the madness that it is the EU cannot go on and the music will have to be faced sooner or later. The news that ministers may be 'considering draconian plans' to deal with the collapse of the Euro is as welcome as the first sign of spring.

'Slowly but surely', and 'eventually', we will do it, legally or illegally, peacefully or violently. The power is ours, the law is ours and we will take it back from those who have stolen it, and hold the guilty to account.

Old Mother Gruff (deceased) told me long ago that even dictators need the consent of the governed and I smiled when I heard Roger Hayes repeat her imparted wisdom.

All we need to do is withdraw our consent and say no more and no further.

Addendum: I've been wondering for a while why we cannot create our own banks but being a bear of very little brain I have hitherto consoled myself with the thought that I am too stupid to understand the complexities of banking. I'm delighted to learn that others not so stupid have had the same thoughts. Perhaps we'll see the return of mutual societies.

While I agree, in part, with his comments on lifestyles and spending (Mrs Gruff and I have been feeding ourselves for the past year on first £25.00 and now, since mid June, on £10.00 per week - for both of us.) I cannot help observing that although the podgy John Glen, MP for Salisbury, may not have the 'right stuff' of his astronaut namesake he is certainly living on another planet. It can do the revolution no harm that a clearly well-fed member of a party led by equally podgy, expensively educated, over-promoted and over-privileged mediocrities feels that those who pay his bills are to be faulted for aspiring to ape his all too obviously self-indulgent example.

The only reason for allowing the pompous arrogant bastard to grow any fatter at our expense is for the greater pleasure to be had when his fat head sits on a spike above London Bridge.

Tom MacInnes makes a point that I've made many times over many years: A job that pays less than a living is not worth doing. It ought to be obvious to all that everyone needs a living and no one needs a job except to obtain a living, which seems easy enough to grasp. The haves have, however, throughout history been seemingly unable to grasp that when those who live well at the expense of the have nots state openly and arrogantly that the latter should be content with having less revolution is probably unavoidable, which, from time to time, is no bad thing.

No one in that clip can be given any credit, certainly not the presenter, who seems to be at least as inadequate as his victim, but the point of posting it is that it supports my belief that some sort of eugenicist policy is now necessary. Perhaps it's nothing more than crude prejudice founded on a chronic intellectual deficit but I can see no purpose whatsoever to that young man's existence, nor that of the young woman sitting beside him, who has apparently decided that he is a fitting mate and father of a child, or children, she has already borne or will bear. Can anyone seriously doubt that he is nothing more than a source of irritation, annoyance, trouble, pain or harm to almost everyone he has dealings with, and she little if at all better? Can anyone say with honesty that they do not doubt his economic activity, and hers, is defined not as a net contribution but as the cost of those who are paid, or work unpaid, to manage his life, and hers, to deal with the problems he and she create, to repair, often imperfectly, the damage they do, the harm they cause and the suffering they inflict in their degraded and barbarous condition? Would it not have been better for them and us had they not been born?

I am mindful of the extremes to which eugenics have been taken but I can see no objection, for the common good, now and in future, to the judicious application of selective sterilisation.

As an aside, that is one of the reasons why I do not own a television set.

While I understand that this is 'news' it's hardly new and while drugs and kinky sex have always excited the muck rakers and mischief makers of the dead tree press we have surely grown up sufficiently that we the people are no longer titivated by 'revelations' of the same, even if they are described as SHOCKING, so why bother reporting such goings on? We are now some years past the time when unconventional leisure activities brought down governments and even were things otherwise what good could come of regime change, given that those most likely to replace the disgraced are of their ilk?

I can't afford to visit a dentist, even as an NHS patient, and I need to, but I can at least take comfort from the knowledge that foreigners are given free dental treatment thanks to the money extorted with menaces from me by those supposed to be working in my interests. I'm also comforted by the knowledge that my money is helping foreigners to compete in a labour market that has not provided a job for me, and to obtain benefits here that are denied to me. It's particularly pleasing that Mrs Gruff pays three and a half times and nine times our food budget in council tax and income tax respectively per month.

Knowing that others enjoy at our expense a lifestyle Mrs Gruff and I cannot afford for ourselves means that our hitherto self-centred lives are now so much more rewarding.

As last year, a prolonged period of machine gun fire and explosions coming from the green brought a brief moment of untrammelled joy, until I remembered that this is Lytham's 'Wartime Weekend', when those who, I suspect, have never performed any sort of military service dress up in the uniforms of their grandfathers and play square-jawed conquering heroes before a brain-dead gawping crowd (the very people who will cower beneath their beds when the real machine gunning starts), and not the revolution. If those who spend so much time, effort and money attempting to recreate the feats of their forefathers concentrated instead on preserving the legacy our forefathers bequeathed to us we might not be in the mess we are.

Those clowns have clearly forgotten that, unless they think Sir Robert Peel intended that they should be The Great British Public (1) and we merely their servants, to do precisely as we are ordered immediately we are ordered, whether or not the law allows.

People do what they can and those who can only make a bloody nuisance of themselves at the expense of the public do so. Too often 'The Police' leave us feeling that all they can do is just that and no more. We need to feel that we are policed - who in his right mind would feel comfortable knowing that his house might be burned to the ground at any time - but we need to know that those who police us understand that they are our servants, and not our masters, and police us with our consent and co-operation, which is what Sir Robert Peel intended, according to Wikipedia (2):

'Peelian Principles

The Peelian principles describe the philosophy that Robert Peel developed to define an ethical police force. The principles traditionally ascribed to Peel state that:

Every police officer should be issued a badge number, to assure accountability for his actions.

Whether the police are effective is not measured on the number of arrests, but on the lack of crime.

Above all else, an effective authority figure knows trust and accountability are paramount. Hence, Peel's most often quoted principle: The police are the public and the public are the police.

However, it has been suggested that Peel's list of principles was more likely authored by twentieth century policing scholars than by Peel himself; although Peel discussed the spirit of some of these principles in his speeches and other communications, researchers Lentz and Chaires found no proof that he ever actually compiled a formal list.[1]

Principles of policing

The basic mission for which the police exist is to prevent crime and disorder.

Police must secure the willing co-operation of the public in voluntary observation of the law to be able to secure and maintain the respect of the public.

The degree of co-operation of the public that can be secured diminishes proportionately to the necessity of the use of physical force.

Police seek and preserve public favour not by catering to public opinion, but by constantly demonstrating absolute impartial service to the law.

Police use physical force to the extent necessary to secure observance of the law or to restore order only when the exercise of persuasion, advice, and warning is found to be insufficient.

Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.

Police should always direct their action strictly towards their functions, and never appear to usurp the powers of the judiciary.

The test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it.[2]

There was a time when most people would willingly have gone to the assistance of a constable in difficulties, and been commended, rather than condemned, for doing so. Those days, however, are long gone and although few would actually do harm to a constable many, surely, would like to see harm done to a good many of them.

An exaggeration but things are clearly getting out of hand and the trouble is spreading. Expect outbreaks in Liverpool, Bradford and Manchester within 24 hours, at most. Cameron and his arse licking clowns must be shitting themselves.

Politics, and blogging, are becoming interesting again.

On the bright side, BBC news crews have been the object of threats and intimidation.

Update at 23:40 BST: Reports on Radio 5 Live claim that the participants are tooling up and attacking people. One report claimed that 'youths' are carrying metal bars and machetes, another that a woman had been dragged from her car, which was subsequently set alight.

Update at 23:44 BST: A LMFAO moment when R5 Live reported that Ed Miliband is cutting short his holiday.

Not that one can expect anything more than betrayal from a Scotch carpetbagger representing an English seat in the British parliament. Having got his McSnout well and truly into our trough of truffles he isn't likely to do anything that might require him to return to his homeland and eat again the swill served for breakfast that is salted porridge, which is perhaps why Mr Menzies never asks awkward questions in the British parliament on behalf of his English constituents.

This is happening in England in the twenty first century and the British government does nothing, even while ostensibly defending 'freedom' in Moslem countries. Moslems now have absolute confidence that they can do anything they please in England without fear of retribution or even censure. Whether one likes or agrees with the policies of the BNP or not, or votes for them or not, voting for any of the mainstream parties cannot bring about the urgent fundamental corrections that are needed to prevent bloody strife in England, one of which is the deportation and exclusion of US Christian evangelist rabble-rousers.

Easily mocked, by those less mature or secure, but those who would mock him should bear in mind that he is a man with genuine concerns, he was willing to turn out to show his support for those who can articulate his fears more forcefully and he has a vote. He's there only because those who pretended to care about the long-term interests of his grandparents and their descendants do not care at all for him and see him only as a source of taxes, a vote and an object of ridicule.

That man is as much the stuff of revolutionary change as were his ancestors and mine, and he is to be applauded for speaking his mind.
