It’s been a month since my last update. Here is a new set of great personalities I had the pleasure of working with!

These two gentlemen were a treat! There were lots of smiles and a very go-getter attitude from Sheldon on the left, throughout his shoot. James Ausley still young and handsome, had great energy as he took on the role of the dad.

Business Casual/Dad

Margaux Macgregor is a young and sassy woman who is ready to break hearts with this killer smile. Troy Grant is one of our returning clients of the month. He delivered a range of characters, from the serious business professional to the character you see here. Jennifer Mabry was a joy! A very warm and loving woman to be around.

Love Interest/Commercial Business/Theatrical Business

Here we have Andrea Caban, another returning client, she was wonderful to work with. Those beautiful brown eyes and great smile, what more is there to say? Mark Anthony Lopez has a great sense of humor but you wouldn’t be able to tell from the edgy character here!

Quirky Professional/Edgy

These next two, Karl T. Wright and Lisa Kaminir delivered their A-game to the business professional look. Lisa is another returning client. The best compliment we get is when our clients come back!

Rod Damer brought all the cards to the table. With great ease, he portrayed the edgy detective, the lovable dad, and the business man.

Katie Dietz had great presence and was a pleasure to shoot with.

Comedic Secretary/Sexy Leading

Joey Beni was so much fun to work with. He portrayed the lovable, goofy guy next door perfectly. It was an enjoyable experience with Peggy Clements, and ex model. She was vibrant and full of life!

Goofy Guy Next Door/Fun Mom

Gabrielle Whittaker is a woman out to make a statement. She approached each look with great commitment as you see here with this bold, edgy look. Jeff Ash might seem like the quiet, shy guy here, but he’s able to deliver great laughs and loads of personality.

Edgy/Quirky Office

I loved the levels of character reached with Allyson Ryan. With her great smile, she had me smiling with her, and when she took herself to a darker place, she had me wondering!

Fun Young Intern/Edgy Victim

This next young woman, Ana Dela Cruz, expressed herself as the quiet sassy, vixen and the mom effortlessly.

Sassy Gal/Young Mom

Can you say Clark Kent? This was the running joke during Caleb Ellis’ shoot. He’s such a wonderful guy with great potential!

Head Shots in Los Angeles by Vanie Poyey

During the summer, shooting headshots with available light can be a challenge. Finding shade, color and texture while the scorching sun shines into early evening is no easy task. I try to scout nearby locations to discover new and interesting places to shoot!

Below are the latest from last month with some of my newest discoveries.

It was a pleasure working with Todd Gaebe. He transformed from the deep, quiet, poetic guy, to the fun and lovable boy next door.

The day with Sheri Levi couldn’t have been more wonderful. She had a dynamic personality that made her very easy to work with.

Soccer Mom/Upscale Wife

Shawna Whitlock was a bundle of quirky energy. She easily transformed from cute to edgy hipster!

Girl Next Door/Edgy

Suzanne Barber brought warmth with her business shot while her playful personality came through playing the “girl next door.”

Business/Young Mom

The following two, Ryan Sulak and Cher Tenbush, were both a treat to work with. Ryan brings forth his charm while Cher shines with her commercial look.

Love Interest/Girl Next Door

These two beautiful gals with piercing eyes are Paulina Shafir and Sarah Leners. Paulina has a radiant presence about her and Sarah’s blue eyes are so amazing!

Edgy CW/Girl Next Door

Considering Nicole Brown had never taken professional headshots, she took to the camera pretty quickly, don’t you think?

Eric P. Kelly’s prop couldn’t be planned more perfectly.

Quirky Secretary/Smooth Businessman

Is it just us, or does Jim Garrity look like a young Jerry Lee Lewis?

On the other hand, David Alfano has been nicknamed “Baby Obama”.

Professional/Young Intern

Manley Woods lives up to his name! He is a TALL man with a heart of gold!

Laywer/Young Dad

Amy Tanya Shuster really showed range, transforming from a fun loving gal to the mischievous one.

Venice Beach Los Angeles

Joe and I went on a twenty mile bike ride from Temescal Canyon to Marina Del Rey and back. At the Marina, we had a long dinner and some bloody marys to get us going. On our way back we had just enough stamina to stop in Venice and steal a few candids.

Inspired by Tom Kazuba’s “Shooting from the hip” series, I shot a few from the hip, or more like from the ground while sitting, and a few while looking through the viewfinder (Mother and daugter and Sunset).

It was a blast trying to capture the skaters without looking through the viewfinder and hard to do!

Along with headshots, I keep busy shooting people from all walks for life! These sessions are always a blast because they are usually a little more involved and artistic.

If you saw the previous blog posting, I ended off with Charleene. These photos are from the second day of her shoot and focus on print work.

Everyone meet Chuck and David! We are not quite sure who the Puppet Master is.

However, we do know one thing, these two make a great team…at least when Chuck is not plotting something mischievous.

The next group of images are from my shoot with Vartan Poladian. He owns a home financing company and needed some serious business shots along with more casual ones for fun!

These two images were taken in the studio, but highlight the difference a change in attire can make.

Next we ventured on location to add some color to the images and a little more diversity!

Finally, we let loose and played! I’ve missed black and white images and since I was given permission to shoot as I please, well, I did.

Kamari completely worked over the camera while her mother, Angela, watched with pride. She is such a little princess with loads of personality and didn’t want the shoot to end! Good luck Kamari!

We have a bit of catching up to do! Here is just a glimpse of some of our clients from the last two months.

Alan Fleury has quite a range. After his session we couldn’t believe it was the same person in each of the photos!

We had a great time getting Camden, a real live police officer, to open up and act! Jadi (right) an old pro at this, looks serious but with a touch of sass.

These next two are both some of our favorite returning clients. In fact, I think we had quite a few returning this month, which is always a pleasure!

Jeff Alan-Lee has his own acting studio for kids.

Brady Rubin was just as sweet and fun as the first time we worked together over five years ago!

Marisa Chen Moller is another returning client! She has such an interesting ethnic look and glow about her. We love the warmth she exudes, even while looking pretty!

Selena Brown was such a breeze to work with. She went from goofy young mom to serious professional in no time at all.

These next two beautiful ladies are Victoria Avalon and Jennifer Duzan. Both had a great sense of humor and made it a pleasure to work with them.

The following are two more returning clients. Martha Boles is getting more and more beautiful as the years pass. On the other hand, Josh Hurd seems to be getting edgier as he gets older!

Lawyer/Villain

Alvin Hayes is a character! He loves to introduce himself: “Alvin, as in the chipmunks!”

Goofy Intern/Guy Next Door

J.T. Arbogast has a talent at making you wonder who he really is. He switches from professional businessman to guy next door quite seamlessly!

Comedic Office/Guy Next Door

April’s quirkiness rivals that of some of the best comedians. Her life experience serving in the armed forces makes her a natural actress!

Goofy Secretary/Fun Young Mom

Eljae and Raul came in for a friend session. We had such a great time with both of you as well as with you Judith! See you in Palm Springs!

Sexy Girl Next Door/Young Guy Next Door

April Marie Smith, who is dating a long time client and friend Cristian, is the perfect example of how a hairstyle can completely change your look! She showed up with wavy hair for her young mom and then straightened it for a more polished, sexy look! By the way, there aren’t too many people who can pull off the hand in the portrait. Thanks for the referral Cristian and April, you are a doll!

We were lucky enough to work with Charleene two days in a row. She is a radiant energetic and fun individual! As you can see, she also has a serious side.

Aleppo Trip Part VI: The Village

The last of the series from Aleppo are my favorites!

On our way to the Olive Factory that my uncle works at, we did a bit of sightseeing by exploring the villages nearby. I love the city of Aleppo, but driving through the villages was a lot more fulfilling for me as a photographer.

This “officer” was not waiving at me, instead he was telling me to stop taking his picture. It’s a good thing I had family with me who could speak the language and diffuse the situation. I clearly ignored his request…not the safest thing to do but anything for a good picture!

In the villages you often see young kids working as sheepherders.

Some are shy and run away from the camera…

while others are all too happy to pose!

No your eyes are not lying to you and yes he’s on a cell phone.

These children were just let out of school. They love having their photos taken!

Aleppo Trip Part V: The Citadel

Right in the center of Aleppo, sitting on a hill, The Citadel is one of the oldest and largest castles in the world.
