President Barack Obama and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are getting back together for another tour of the Jersey Shore.

Obama will travel to New Jersey on Tuesday to inspect the Shore's recovery from Hurricane Sandy, a White House official said Thursday.

While in New Jersey, Obama will deliver remarks about "expanding economic opportunity for middle class families who were hard hit by the storm" and meet with residents who have benefited from the federal recovery efforts.

The trip will be Obama's first since Sandy interrupted the presidential campaign last October. Then, Obama and Christie viewed the state's damaged shoreline by helicopter and visited with residents whose homes had been damaged.

This trip comes at a fortuitous time for both Obama and Christie. Obama will be highlighting one of his administration's successes and trying to change the subject from the scandals of recent weeks as the nation returns from the Memorial Day weekend.

Christie, whose post-Sandy actions sent his approval ratings skyrocketing, is in the midst of a re-election campaign against a little funded Democrat. Having Obama heap praise on him can only help in heavily Democratic New Jersey.

Holder to Investigate ... HIMSELF!

President Obama is a little uneasy with the way journalists have been dragged into the Justice Department's aggressive pursuit of national security leak investigations. In fact, he has ordered Attorney General Eric Holder to conduct a 45-day review of the department's guidelines on the issue.

That bit of news was buried in the middle of the president's hourlong speech today at National Defense University.

"Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs," President Obama said. "Our focus must be on those who break the law."

And then the news: "I have raised these issues with the attorney general, who shares my concern. So he has agreed to review existing Department of Justice guidelines governing investigations that involve reporters, and will convene a group of media organizations to hear their concerns as part of that review. And I have directed the attorney general to report back to me by July 12th."

Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a "possible co-conspirator" in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday.

The disclosure of the attorney general's role came as President Barack Obama, in a major speech on his counterterrorism policy, said Holder had agreed to review Justice Department guidelines governing investigations that involve journalists.

"I am troubled by the possibility that leak investigations may chill the investigative journalism that holds government accountable," Obama said. "Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs."

Pope Francis rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheists.
During his homily at Wednesday Mass in Rome, Francis emphasized the importance of "doing good" as a principle that unites all humanity, and a "culture of encounter" to support peace.
Using scripture from the Gospel of Mark, Francis explained how upset Jesus' disciples were that someone outside their group was doing good, according to a report from Vatican Radio.

“They complain,” the Pope said in his homily, because they say, “If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good.” And Jesus corrects them: “Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good.” The disciples, Pope Francis explains, “were a little intolerant,” closed off by the idea of possessing the truth, convinced that “those who do not have the truth, cannot do good.” “This was wrong . . . Jesus broadens the horizon.” Pope Francis said, “The root of this possibility of doing good – that we all have – is in creation”

Pope Francis went further in his sermon to say:

"The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart: do good and do not do evil. All of us. ‘But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.’ Yes, he can... "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!".. We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there.”

Responding to the leader of the Roman Catholic church's homily, Father James Martin, S.J. wrote in an email to The Huffington Post:

"Pope Francis is saying, more clearly than ever before, that Christ offered himself as a sacrifice for everyone. That's always been a Christian belief. You can find St. Paul saying in the First Letter to Timothy that Jesus gave himself as a "ransom for all." But rarely do you hear it said by Catholics so forcefully, and with such evident joy. And in this era of religious controversies, it's a timely reminder that God cannot be confined to our narrow categories."

Of course, not all Christians believe that those who don't believe will be redeemed, and the Pope's words may spark memories of the deep divisions from the Protestant reformation over the belief in redemption through grace versus redemption through works.

Nearly All US States See Hefty Drop in Teen Births

The nation's record-low teen birth rate stems from robust declines in nearly every state, but most dramatically in several Mountain States and among Hispanics, according to a new government report.

All states but West Virginia and North Dakota showed significant drops over five years. But the Mountain States of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and Utah saw rates fall by 30 percent or more.

In 22 states, teen Hispanic birth rates plunged at least 40 percent, which was described as "just amazing," by the report's lead author, Brady Hamilton of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

What's driving the declines? No one can say for sure. Experts believe the explanation is complicated and probably varies a bit from state to state. The national figure has been falling since 1991, aside from a brief interruption in 2006 and 2007.

The CDC report released Thursday is based on birth certificates for 2007 through 2011. Last year, the CDC announced the overall improvement in teen births: a record low of 31 births per 1,000 teens ages 15 to 19. That compares to 42 births per 1,000 five years earlier.

The new report focuses on state figures in 2011:

— Lowest rates are in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont, each with rates under 17 per 1,000.

— Highest rates overall continue to be in the South, led by Arkansas and Mississippi, each with rates of about 50 per 1,000. In Arkansas, the majority of teen births are to white moms. In Mississippi, the majority are black.

— White teens continue to have the lowest birth rate nationally — about 22 births per 1,000. Black teens saw a larger improvement, but their rate was still more than twice the white rate, at 47 per 1,000.

The scandals facing the White House — particularly the Benghazi attack of last Sept. 11 — will be corrosive to Barack Obama's presidency, Republican strategist Karl Rove tells Newsmax TV in an exclusive interview.
"These things will be corrosive," Rove, who helped George W. Bush twice win the White House, tells Newsmax. "They'll eat away at the president's rating. We'll see it over time and, particularly, as Congress asks more questions in the weeks ahead.
"This stuff is only starting to seep in," Rove adds. "It will take a while for these things to sort of sink in. I am not surprised that it hasn't begun to impact his job approval just yet."

Jerusalem Wedding: 25,000 Guests!

News of a wedding with 25,000 guests has stunned viewers across the globe, as the massive party was held in Jerusalem on Tuesday night.

The massive wedding was for Shalom Rokeach, 18, and new wife Hannah Batya Penet, 19 – both reportedly from very well connected families.

Rokeach is the grandson of the leader of the Hasidic Belz Rebbe dynasty – an ancient aristocratic family that has its roots in the 14th Century Poland, according to The Independent newspaper in the United Kingdom.

Rokeach has also been described as the only male heir to the dynasty, and so shall one day become the head of one of the largest communities in Judaism.

The 25,000 guests descended on the city from all parts of the globe for the wedding, with celebrations going on all night.

The huge wedding forced the closure of many roads around the city, and authorities even erected barriers to help maintain order among the massive crowd of guests.

There were so many wedding guests that special arrangements had to be made to ensure everyone was able to attend and see what was going on. According to the Jerusalem Post, the ceremony took place under the huppa, but many video screens were put up around the synagogue to give all the guests a chance of seeing the event

'Self-aiming' rifle turns novices into expert snipers

First time firing a gun? There's help at hand – a new "self-aiming" rifle can help even a novice hit the target at long range on the first go. But the technology has its critics, who see it as a serious threat to public safety.

Just weeks after the firing of the world's first 3D printed handgun, a smart rifle that allows the user to accurately hit targets up to 900 metres away has gone on sale in the US.

Made by TrackingPoint, a start-up based in Austin, Texas, the new $22,000 weapon is a precision guided firearm (PGF). According to company president Jason Schauble, it uses a variant of the "lock-and-launch" technology that lets fighter jets fire air-to-air missiles without the pilot having to perform precision aiming.

The PGF lets the user choose a target in the rifle's sights while the weapon decides when it is the best time to shoot - compensating for factors like wind speed, arm shake, recoil, air temperature, humidity and the bullet's drop due to gravity, all of which can affect accuracy.

To do this, the PGF's tracking system includes a computer running the open-source Linux operating system, a laser rangefinder, a camera and a high-resolution colour display in an integrated sighting scope mounted on top of the weapon. The user simply takes aim and presses a button near the trigger when a dot from the laser illuminates the target.

Media blame Rush Limbaugh in IRS scandal

PALM BEACH, Fla. – As the probe continues into the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative and tea-party groups, it has been revealed the practice started coming to light in early 2012, but was ignored or suppressed by the national media.

The New York Times is now linking radio powerhouse Rush Limbaugh as one of the key reasons the press corps did not cover the emerging scandal.

The Times reported in its Wednesday edition that in the first week of March last year, "Rush Limbaugh, the conservative icon and radio host, called a Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, a 'slut' for her comments about the availability of birth control. The fallout from that consumed Washington, and Mr. Obama eventually called Ms. Fluke."

Limbaugh wasted no time mocking the Times, the self-proclaimed paper of record, for not reporting the real news of significance.

"They were so busy, that all of Washington was so absorbed with that story that they missed everything else going on that week and during that period of time. And during that period of time is when it was discovered that the IRS was investigating itself over targeting tea-party groups," Limbaugh said Wednesday.

"So the New York Times, in a story this morning, is trying to blame me for the media not uncovering the IRS scandals before the elections. Now I've heard everything! This takes the cake. Limbaugh noted found it ironic because he said national news pundits often say he's "irrelevant and inconsequential."

WASHINGTON — The threat was addressed to all the witnesses, but it was obvious the congressman had just one in mind, the woman at the center of the IRS scandal, Lois Lerner.

Rep. Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., loudly threatened in his opening statement that if witnesses refused to testify, it would leave Congress no option but to appoint a special prosecutor to look into abuse by the IRS.

"There will be hell to pay if that's the route we choose to go down," he warned.

But that's just what Lerner did, refusing to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform by invoking her constitutional right against self-incrimination.

Lerner said she would not answer questions because the Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into the IRS scandal.

Lerner has blamed abusive IRS practices on low-level employees in the Cincinnati office. But IRS sources told National Review, "From the outset, Internal Revenue Service lawyers based in Washington, D.C., provided important guidance on the handling of tea-party groups' applications for tax-exempt status."

Special Prosecutor Inevitable - For MOST TRANSPARENT PRESIDENT Ever!

This administration's management of the Obama Internal Revenue Service scandal so far consists of a slow-walking, rolling disclosure of facts; equal parts equivocation, amnesia and indignation from IRS witnesses; deer-in-the-headlights non-responses by the White House press secretary; parsed, lawyerly statements from the president himself; and now one of the central key players is taking the Fifth. And all this comes from what the president claimed would be the "most transparent administration ever…"

If we give the president the benefit of the doubt and assume he knows the truth is going to come out, the question remains: Does the administration appoint the special prosecutor sooner or later? The calculus inside the White House is how to best protect the president's political interests. They have two options. They could delay the appointment and let more of the story develop, weather the ugly piecemeal disclosures, give the players time to get their stories straight and lawyer-up and hope Republicans continue their overreach, giving the whole affair a nutty partisan patina. Or, they could accelerate the appointment of a special prosecutor, thereby slowing the congressional inquiries and giving Jay Carney some relief from his daily embarrassing routine by supplying him with the escape hatch of not being allowed to comment on matters associated with the special prosecutor's ongoing investigation. Not to mention, the White House all the while could blast the appointed counsel as a partisan ideologue à la the hatchet job that was done on Ken Starr.

Anyway, if the president is innocent, he will end up needing and wanting a special prosecutor sooner rather than later. If he and his White House already have too much to hide, then they must clam up, cry partisanship and hope their allies on the Hill and in the media have the stamina for the long, hard slog ahead.

Awkward: Former IRS Head Says He ‘Really Can’t Recite the Constitution’

Things got awkward during the House Oversight Committee's second IRS hearing on Wednesday when Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI), while seemingly making a larger point, couldn't get former IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman to acknowledge certain amendments to the Constitution.

After confirming that the IRS requires ethics training, Bentivolio was trying to figure out if the IRS required training on the Constitution. He may have got his answer despite Shulman's response saying he couldn't give one.

"Did you study the Constitution?" Bentivolio asked.

"I went to law school," Shulman responded.

"You went to law school. Did you study the Constitution?"

"I believe I took Constitutional law, but I'm not prepared to take an exam at this time," Shulman said with a chuckle. "Meaning I'll answer any of your question but I can't promise that I'm an expert."

"Well, you know the First, Second Amendment and one of my favorites, the 19th, right? You know those?" Bentivolio asked.

"Excuse me," a seemingly confused Shulman responded.

"You know those amendments. The Constitutional amendments," Bentivolio said matter of factly. "You know the First, you know the Second, and you know the 19th."

"I don't necessarily have the Constitution memorized, sir."

"Okay, well, they're pretty general in what each one is. Like the First Amendment is the freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and freedom to petition the government for a redress of grievances. First Amendment, right?"

"I really can't recite the Constitution, sir," Shulman concluded.
