I thought I’d give everyone the latest note on Amazon UK updates to the Associates Operating Agreement. Rather than copying the message here I wanted to share a few key tips to help you ensure you are aware of your terms as an affiliate, and applies to any program or merchant you are affiliated with for that matter.

What Not To Do

Do not buy products under your own affiliate link “NO”. As a general rule I would definitely not buy products through your own affiliate links. It’s not worth jeopardizing your commissions just for a few dollars. However feel free to buy from a friend or from a web site you like to use.

Global Markets

Don’t overlook the UK and European market in your choice of affiliate programs. The currency is fairly good and the market is huge so do you really want to miss out on extra income streams?

I don’t think so!

Good currency rates too with the Great British Pound and Euro. I encourage you to check out the Europe, Australia and other demographics.

Best Performing Amazon Affiliate Resources

I’ve found that the Amazon aStores and the Carousel Widget have the highest conversion rates. You should create separate “Tracking ID’s” for each domain so that you can distinguish which web sites are converting.

Keep Informed Of Policy Updates

Create a new email with your domain that way you are sure to receive your priority updates and save yourself from possibly breeches in terms. AOL, Hotmail are notorious for deleting legitimate email messages with their heavy handed Spam filters. Don’t use these email providers for important contact, if not, do so  at your own risk. You’ll know if your emails are getting blocked from the not receiving messages from Amazon or any other merchant.

So to turn a bad situation into a positive I’m doing a CLEARING OUT, once and for all!

I thought I had cleared out my junk of things I no longer use or need but there is some way to go.

Once that’s done I’ll haul it off to:

1. The local recycle center
2. Box up some items for charity shop
3. Sell my wares on eBay (love that site)

Most of all I’m looking forward to Easter eggs and “movie night”. Especially after purchasing my new 32″ Samsung LCD TV. The screen is a whole lot bigger than I anticipated. I had an old CRT Samsung 28 inch TV before and knew from experience that the new widescreen TV’s look smaller as you lose the overall width of the TV screen in comparison to CRT square shaped screens. But my new screen is going to grab a heck of a lot of attention when guests stop by.

A cool feature I am eager to test out is that I can plug in my PC and use the screen for the Internet too.

Woohoo!!

Just when I said I’m not buying another TV… couldn’t resist. I have a rectangular piece of wood ready to drill some holes to secure the new table with bolts and reinforce it with “No more nails” glue. After about 24 hours I can safely perch my cinematic TV on the table for endless gaming and watching DVD’s. I don’t like the glass TV stands in my home for practical reasons as “all” glass items crack, break at some point. Wood is more practical, safer and longer lasting!

Yep, I love DIY tasks, sorry guys but I am no damsel in distress. Hehe!!

P.S.
You can see my Wii Fit board in front of the TV purchased from good old eBay. Plus the DVD player and cable box (to the left of the photo) where I will be adding a new wooden tabletop later today.

======****HAPPY EASTER BREAK****====

So far Twitter is bringing me a steady stream of visitors to my blogs and I in turn have found some interesting new blogs and web site’s which I have added to my RSS news reader.

One thing I have noticed is the proliferation of multiple accounts using the names of popular Internet Marketers names, inserting hyphens here and there. Low and behold these accounts have a nice big “SUSPENDED” note on Twitter. They are obviously using software and get caught out due to the rapid increase in Twitter accounts they follow.

I’m sure Twitter ’s bots track abundance of unusual account activity and nuke them in their tracks. The account names I’ve seen time and time again are Andy Jenkins, Brad Fallen of the infamous StomperNet. These guy sure are popular. LOL

Of course it’s NOT them but others counting on getting guaranteed “followers” due to their online reputation. However, once you had a chance to read the tweets I’m 200% sure everyone will realize these accounts are FAKE!

An opt-in list can be quite crucial to any site or internet based company. Even for a small venture such as a niche profit site an opt-in list can make a world of difference and also add some extra income for your pocket. Rarely would you see an e-commerce site, big or small, that is without an opt-in list.

An opt-in list allows for a company to market their wares and site via an e-mail. With an opt-in list, a site and a subscriber consents to sending and receiving a newsletter from your company. Through this, you can keep your subscribers abreast of what is currently available in your site as well as whatever is coming out.

And because there is mutual consent between the two parties, any mail sent to the list is not considered as spam mail. There is a great number of successfully read promotional materials such as catalogs, newsletters and such that are sent because the subscribers themselves have signed up for them, meaning, they do want to be sent those items.

Building a list is crucial, only a small percentage actually subscribes for an opt-in list. Many people find promotional mails annoying but of you provide a good newsletter or promotional material,  you will see your list build up and grow. You can also achieve this by having good content on your site. If people like what they see and read on your site, then they surely would want more. Newsletters would be a way to attract them back to your site. A little teaser or appetizer if you will.

But other than marketing your wares and your services, an opt-in list can also be used to earn extra profit. Not all lists can be used though. It would be good to first build a successful list with a huge number of subscribers. The more subscribers you have, the more money you can get. Here are seven ways to make money using nothing more than your list.

1. Place advertisements. There are many corporations who will be willing to pay to put their banners and ads on a list with many subscribers. Selling or renting out lists is not a good idea so rather than doing that, many companies would just rather place ads with lists that have a huge subscriber base. Your newsletter could be placed with many ads and each one spells money.

2. Have affiliations with other companies that have at least a semblance or relation to what your site is about. Here other companies will provide links and brief descriptions of what they offer, products and services. With every click made on the link that directs or leads a subscriber from your list to their site, the company will pay you. This P4P or pay for performance.

3. Make deals with other companies by asking for a small percentage of sales done through your list. With every sale done by customers that have come from your list and have gone there because of your newsletter, the other company will pay you a small percentage of your sales. The more people who buys from them, the more earnings you get.

4. You may also get products from other sites on a consignment basis and sell them to your list via  your newsletter. Place descriptions, articles and photos of the product in your newsletter. There will be those who will buy from you and when that happens, you can order the product from the other site and sell it to your buyer.

5. Sell e-books or a compilation of your articles on your list. Manuals and how-to articles are in great demand. Many people will be willing to shell out money to gain knowledge about a certain topic and subject. With your existing list trusting your expertise in that area, an e-book could be offered and sold or used as an incentive.

6. Create a network out of your list. Get people to invite more people to view your site and subscribe to your list. The larger your list is, the more people will be able to click on your links and affiliate links as well as make your advertisement rates higher.

7. Subscribers are willing to pay for information if they know that it can be trusted and relied upon. Use your list to get more and more people to subscribe to you as well as browse your site. Lastly, you can use your list to earn money by making them your partners. Your list will be the bloodline of your growth and increase.

Why?

Because I really hate the template design on the HTML web pages. I was going to either buy a new template or hire someone to design one for me but what I really want is to make it the same as the blog.

This task has been on my mind for months now but I have let it slip as it was not an urgent priority. As you know it’s a bright New Year so we should be in the mood to throw out the old in place of the new. However getting the HTML page to resemble my blog theme is no piece of cake.

I could install WordPress but that would be going into overkill. I already have two installations for the newsletter and Marketing Tips. Yes I know I could have set up another category for the newsletter but what’s done is done now.

Hmm!

OK, I think I’ll settle for a home page change and move ALL other web pages to the blog.

Voila!

That will be less hassle and quicker to complete.

Besides I have had enough of relying on others to do things for me and not delivering good results. My experiences from 2008 have somewhat jaded me.

If only blogs were popular way back when I launched this website. I would have set the WordPress blog software on the root of my domain => Miriadz.com and be done with ANY design problems. It will mean I must set up permanent redirects for search engine and visitors to find the new web page locations.

• Very easy to update pages.

• Easier to make a blog search Engine friendly using plugins.

• Easier to put content into categories and simpler to organize.

• Built in RSS feeds makes it easier for people to subscribe to your content.

• Using free services like Feedburner you can track your RSS readers and offer email subscriptions for free too.

• Attracts people to link to your blog and social bookmark your content quickly and easily.

Of course sales pages and affiliate sign up pages will remain on HTML web pages. I do want to make this website more manageable so I can get started on making free ecourses and new autoresponder messages. Don’t be surprised if some pages are permanently nuked in place of a fresher more up to date content and products.

I’ll report on all of these changes in my first newsletter for 2009!

Oh well, time to head off to draft up the new home page. Once that’s done other pages should be quick and simple copy and paste into “Pages” on my Practical Marketing Tips blog.
