Speeches are something which a person delivers in front of a large group of people.Through out history of the world great changes in the world happened with some speech.Many of the great leaders have gained a lot of popularity and liking of masses only through their speeches.In the case of politics one can imagine the importance of speeches.So i decided to list out some of the famous speeches with a brief description of them...

First Inaugural speech of Franklin D.Roosevelt

After taking the oath,he gave 27 minute long speech which is so famous for his lines "the only thing we have to fear..is fear itself".Here are the starting lines of this excellent speech..

So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear... is fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.

Infamy speech (after pearl harbor attack by japan)

This was again by Franklin D Roosevelt delivered one day after the Empire of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor Naval Base.This was so famous for his words...

"a date which will live in infamy"..

This speech had an immediate and long lasting impact on American politics.33 minutes after his speech the Congress declared war on Japan with only one representative voting against declaration.

QUIT INDIA SPEECH

This is the speech made by 'Mahatma Gandhi' on August 8 1942.This was famous for his call as "Do or Die". After many years later Martin Luther King Jr. mimic this speech of Gandhiji as "I have a dream".It motivated many Indians without causing Violence...

On August 15th 1947....India got independence from the British empire..First prime minister of Independant India 'Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru' made a speech with this title which was one of most memorable one in history of India.It says about an agreement with destiny...It was famous for some of his words...

This speech is very much famous for Indians...Vivekananda the greatest Orator ever made this a wonderful speech which could impart a lot of respect and admiration in the hearts of Americans on India(Indians)...His lines "Sisters and Brothers of America" rouse most of the audience to their feet....These are the few starting lines of that speech..

Untold legacy of British in india

'Illiteracy' and 'Poverty' are two main challenges India is facing today.Our present literacy rate is about 66% and to talk about poverty is much more.One third of World's poor are said to be from India. Even facing so many challenges this country is progressing in a different way.But to become more strong than ever it has to overcome these two challenges. These facts are known to most of us that most of Indians are illiterate (about 34%) now and many are in poverty.But only some knew the root cause for this,it was in the time of British rule these two were soared in India.Before knowing more...

I would like you to take a guess of literacy rate of India in 1850's.Let me say ..
50% of my friends thought it was 50-70%
30% of them at 40-50%
20% of them at 30-40%

Before knowing truth my guess was at 40-50%.Shocking is that i was wrong with a great margin and so were my friends.Hope you too..It was just 3.2%.In early 20th century it rose to 7% and finally at the time of Independence it was 12%(approx).Let me give you all an important definition

Literacy:

UNESCO(The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) defines literacy as the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, compute and use printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning in enabling individuals to achieve their goals, to develop their knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in their community and wider society.

According to this definition most of the Indians were literate in pre-british period (i.e till 1800's).Before British rule there were 'pathashalas' and 'Maktabs' for Hindus and muslims which gave children primary education.There were 'Tols' and 'Madrassas' which gave higher education mostly on religious basis.This education was received mostly by Brahmins in Hindus and Some upper class in muslims. Even though this system of education used to impart large amount of literacy to India.This continued till 1820's.But as the British took over India this education seemed useless to earn livelihood. So many of them left this traditional education which could not feed their stomach and to go for Western education there were no schools in India to impart English education.Later British established some English schools in presidency towns of Calcutta,Bombay,Madras.But these were not sufficient enough to educate many students.So many of them did not go for any of these two (traditional and english) thus by the time of 1850's literacy in India dropped to 3%.Britishers never thought to educate indians they always tried to loot India in different ways.An interesting statistic is that only 4 out of 10000 Indians had went to Universties (English) in later 19th century. Finally due to the stress from Indian National Congress the Britishers established more schools and Universities at the end of 19th century. This helped in rising literacy in India to 12% at the time of Independence.

The same is the case of Poverty it was just created by the Britishers. The cities of India which were under British rule for many years were those which had major poverty.Dacca and Calcutta were compared to London and manchester in terms of richness by British at the time of their arrival.But soon at the time of Independence we could see them as Cities having most number of Poor.Seeing the chart above you can estimate the importance of Freedom for India.Though still we are facing problems like corruption its the freedom thats moving us towards development....

In my view what Britishers did in India is equal to"giving us 100 Rupees and taking 1 Crore from us"....

This is the Republic of India 's highest civilian award given for highest degrees of national service.This award to given any kind of service such as politics,movies,music,arts etc.The top ranked among the three others

August 15 th as the date comes on calender,we all feel so patriotic and proud on seeing Indian flag being hoisted.I promise that most of us even take a owe that we will do something for this country. But only some could keep their promise,who group up to form the list of recipients of these four awards. These people are the core of the indian's that represent to the world. But it is not the whole story because this awards were not issued posthumously and government of India issued them only from January,1954. The order was established by first president of Republic India 'Rajendra prasad'. This award was given for 2 non indians(Nelson Mandela,Khan abdul ghaffar khan) and one naturalised indian citizen(Mother Teresa).

The only case of withdrawing this award was in 1992,when it was posthumously awarded to 'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose' due to some legal reasons.

The honour has been awarded to 41 people.Here is the list of the living recipients of Bharata Ratna.

Indian Recipients

A.P.J Abdul Kalam : He is the third president of India to be honoured with Bharata Ratna,other two being 'Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan' and 'Zakir Hussain'.
Ravi Shankar : Pandit Ravi Shankar is an Indian Musician and composer who play'Sitar'.
Amartya Sen : He is india's eminent economists.He won 'Nobel Memorial prize in Economic Sciences' and also known as 'Conscience and Mother Teresa of Economics'.He is the first Asian and Indian to head an academic in an 'Oxbridge' College.
Lata Mangeshkar : Those who listen to old hindi songs knows well about this gem of India. She is the second Indian Vocalist to get 'Bharata Ratna' after the legendary 'M S Subbulakshmi'.
Bhimsen Joshi : He is an Vocalist in 'Hindustani classical' tradition.He is the most recent recipient of this honour, awarded in 2008.

Foriegn Recipients

Nelson Mandela : He is the first South African President to be elected in a fully representative democratic election and was president of 'South Africa' from 1994-99.He received Nobel Peace Prize in 1992 and also more that 250 awards all over.

So these are just the living recipients and there is a big list of 36 else recipients who received this honour. A few names of them is here...

C.Rajagopalachari, C.V.Raman, Mokshagundam Vishvesvarayya, Jawarharlal Nehru, Rajendra prasad, V.V Giri, Indira Gandhi, Lal bahadur Sastri, B R Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhai patel, Bismillah khan, J.R.D Tata, Rajiv Gandhi,M G Rama Chandran.....

This honour is not just enough to calculate the amount of service of them to the country 'India'. These are all the people with excellence and their service to nation in one form or other made them win this great honour. But apart from this honour this is high time that people realise that giving something to nation is more important for everyone. So lets do our duty of making this country the best place in the world.....

A story on friends..................

Hello friends ...HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY.....After a long time at last i got a good day again to start writing posts.This time its a special occasion 'Friendship day'.So i decided the topic to be on friends this time.First after a lot of thinking on how to start writing something related to friends,i have decided somehow why not to come up with a story i have heard a long time ago in school days.So friends this is the story....

HARE WHICH HAS MANY FRIENDS

A Hare was very popular with the other animals in the jungle who all claimed to be her friends. One day she heard the hounds approaching her and hoped to escape them by the aid of her Friends. So, she went to the horse, and asked him to carry her away from the hounds on his back. But he declined, stating that he had important work to do for his master. "He felt sure," he said, "that all her other friends would come to her assistance." She then applied to the bull, and hoped that he would repel the hounds with his horns. The bull replied: "I am very sorry, but I have an appointment with a lady; but I feel sure that our friend the goat will do what you want." The goat, however, feared that his back might do her some harm if he took her upon it. The ram, he felt sure, was the proper friend to ask for help. So she went to the ram and told him the case. The ram replied: "Another time, my dear friend. I do not like to interfere on the present occasion, as hounds have been known to eat sheep as well as hares." The Hare then applied, as a last hope, to the calf, who regretted that he was unable to help her, as he did not like to take the responsibility upon himself, as so many older persons than himself had declined the task. By this time the hounds were quite near, and the Hare took to her heels and luckily escaped.

MORAL : Hare though has many friends couldn't find one to help him at the time of deadly need.

So this story is not just the total picture about friends.But this shows all those who say that they have 'many' friends,that they actually have 'none' sometimes. This difference is just because they don't realize who really are their friends or probably don't know meaning of friends. This also reminds me a famous moral "A friend in need is a friend indeed".

So here,i tell that one should be careful enough in choosing friends and must be truthful and honest enough to one's friend,the same way they expect the latter to be. In my view a friend is one with whom you don't think of time or clock,with whom you don't think much to share any of your feelings. When you are being with such a person with whom you don't think any moment of your life boring he is your true friend.But this is just one side of the story,the other person must feel the same about you. Also don't ever choose a bad person as your friend,this will surely ruin your life,remember the story of Karna from Mahabharat.So be good and expect good from your friends....

The most memorable time of anyone is their college life...Because there each and every moment is shared with one's dearest friends.So never the time will come back and never these memories of college friends vanish...Remember your friends,be good to them,do good to them and you receive the same at the end of the day...

So all my friends have a nice time and share your sweetest moments of life with your closest friends...

Once again i wish 'Happy friendship day' to all those who are reading this post of mine......

will CHINA attack INDIA by 2012?

Before discussing whether china would attack India..let us first see this picture closely..

The picture on the right shows the borders of India as we claim.But the one on the left shows the borders of India,which are not under dispute.Some parts of Kashmir claimed by India are also claimed by China and Pakistan. So this gives a ringing alarm to our country that anytime this Border disputes may lead to a Sino-Indian war or Indo-pak war.

Heading towards the topic now....this was an illusion by a defence expert MR.Verma that china will possibly attack INDIA before 2012. The reason for this would be growing unrest,unemployment,financial problems and internal dissent in China."China will launch an attack on INDIA before 2012. There are multiple reasons for a desperate beijing to teach India a final lesson there by ensuring Chinese Supremacy in this century." ,Bharat Verma,Editor of Indian Defence Review, has said. If it happens this would be a second Sino-indian war after 1962. Lets for now see why China and India met with a war that year.......

1962 Sino-Indian War

There is possibly more than one reason for the Sino-Indian war that occured in 1962. Firstly,China and India share a long border,sectioned into three stretches by Nepal and Bhutan,which follows the Himalayan region between Burma and Pakistan.There are two areas in Indian border 'Aksai chin' and the other being 'Arunachal pradesh' which are claimed by both countries as their territory.

Secondly,the most prominent reason for Sino-Indian Conflict is Tibet's issue. Many changes occured in late 1940's with the creation of Republic of India and the seperate Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 1947,and the establishment of People's Republic of China in 1949. After coming to power PRC(people's Republic of China) announced that its going to occupy Tibet. India sent a letter to China opposing its negotiations on Tibet. Later in 1954 the China and India concluded Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence which acknowledged China's Sovereignty over Tibet. In 1956 ,Nehru sent a message to Zhou Enlai that Chinese maps claimed some 1,20,000 square kilometers of Indian territory as Chinese. Zhou responded that there were errors in map,and that were of little meaning. China misunderstood India giving asylum to Bhuddist monk Dalai Lama that India was encouraging Tibetian Rebels against China. But India gave Dalai Lama asylum out of sympathy,in-fact sentimental and culturally linked,as Bhuddist Tibet was culturally linked to India for many years.Chinese 1958 maps shows the large strip of land(the Aksai chin) between Ladakh and Bhutan as Chinese.Zhou Enlai (premier of People's Republic of China) proposed that if India drop its claim to Aksai chin and China would withdraw its claim to NEFA(present Arunachal pradesh). This claim was not accepted by Nehru,he did not wanted to accept unreasonable claim of China to an Indian territory South of British's McMohan Line.1962 war's main cause was India's discovery of a road that Chinese have built through Aksai chin. This made Nehru go for a Forward Policy.

Home Minister in Delhi 1962:

"If the Chinese will not vacate the areas occupied by her, India will have to repeat What she did in Goa.She will certainly drive out Chinese forces."

Mao Zedong,China:

"Nehru wants to move forward and we won't let him. Originally we tried to guard against this,but now it seems we can not prevent it. If he wants to advance ,we might as well adapt to armed coexistence. You wave a gun,and i will wave a gun.We'll stand face to face and practice

our courage..."

India is not prepared for a war,as it had just annexed the Portugese state of india,Goa and was facing Border conflicts with Pakistan in Kashmir.So Indian army was confident that war will not occur and was little prepared.So finally war occured between India and China in the period between October -November ,1962. Result was Chinese Victory and Unilateral ceasefire by China and withdraws to pre-war positions. After war China controls Aksai Chin region and India NEFA(Arunachal Pradesh) region.

The reason for looking about this war is mainly to explore why these two nations would meet with a war anytime. Since a war with Pakistan means surely for Kashmir and similarly to find out whats there for India and China that serious to get into a war.So hope analyzing that war we can come to some conclusion that a Sino-Indian war would be not that easily possible except in case of Border disputes and high tensions between two nations.

Coming to present positions,now India and China are the most powerful Countries in Asia with fastest growing GDP's. China and India ,now are having friendly relations except that little border disputes which gave rise to little tensions. But as for now,both countries are much busy with the internal matters for them to consider this border issue. With many problems around World such as Global warming,2012 dead end,climatic changes,growing temperatures there's no way to consider such petty issues at this point of time. Even there has never been a war between two Nuclear equipped nations ,could not even possibly expect how the results would be. China is undoubtedly most powerful having no comparison with India in military strength,but had a little experience in war strategies compared to Indian army.Present reasons for a war should be situations degrading in case of Border disputes. Also the World Future Superpower is mattering a lot in this issue. China is probably forecast to be the lone future Superpower in World replacing USA,India being a strong contender in the list of other nations.So China may like to have complete supremacy over Asia,by suppressing India. Also with the growing association of West with India,China may fear that this association may become the future Superpower. So reason be any,there are just little chances of China attacking India before 2012.

But this should not possibly happen, as it would entirely disturb trade and cultural relations between both countries. Also this would give a chance for the West to again dominate the World for some more years. Let China and India be friends and let for the first time Asia dominate the World. If China join hands with India it would be a great association out throwing all the world aside before its might. Hope the greatest association to happen and not a war....

RAJAGOPURAM COLLAPSED IN SRIKALAHASTI

Rajagopuram when it collapsed...to left when it has just cracks,to right it completely collapsed..

26 may 2010.

SRIKALAHASTI wrongly referred as Kalahasti is a holy town in south Indian on the banks of River Swarnamukhi. This place is near to Famous 'Tirupati' by just 40kms. It is besides a small hill and on another side has swarnamukhi river. So referred as 'Dakshina Kailasam'.

HISTORY

Its beleived to be existing before 3rd Centruy BC,and first mention of this temple is in 3rd Century BC in Literature of Tamil Sangam Dynasty.Its name came from three animals sri(Spider), kala (Snake), Hasti (Elephant) who worshipped lord Shiva at this place and got salvation. So this place is referred to as Srikalahasti and the god name as 'Srikalahasteeswara'. Also believed that Bhaktha Kannapa worshipped lord shiva at this place.

Skanda Puranas, Linga purnas, Shiva puranas mentioned about this temple. It is one of the 'Panchabhootasthalam'(Five Basic elements of life). It is 'Vayusthalam' representing air among them.

Rahu - Ketu Pooja

'Kala Sarpa Dosham' is a snake like formation in persons Natal birth chart. To minify its ill effects Rahu-Ketu pooja is performed at this place which is believed to give good results. This Place is referred to as 'Rahu-Ketu parihara Skhetram'. This is only temple in india which is not closed even during Solar-lunar eclipses.

RajaGopuram Collapsed

(Dated 16th century)

Vizayanagara Empire ruler 'Sri krishna Devaraya' has been one of the major developers of this temple in history. After Defeating Gajapati's in a Battle as a symbol of his victory he built a Rajagopuram of 136 feet high.This was built with extensive care by the king with an excellent artwork in every inch of it. Many reasons are mentioned for cracks being developed in the art over last decade. But finally after a big cyclonic effect of 'Laila' in Andhra Pradesh,these cracks worsened and the structure came down on 26th May 2010.

We lost a rare mark of History.....we could never get that back.This was mere negligence by Government, not taking about care about historical structures and their maintenance.

If this type of maintenance continues we may still lose many valuables marks of our History in future...

According to Vassily Maximov a Russian Painter "Everything is in the past".So ........keep this information aside.

First let me introduce myself to you.Going to the place where i felt of Writing this book.....

January 2010

I am an Engineering student and never thought of getting into Historical views. Having technical freaks on all sides never felt that i could write something about history. But deep in me , i had interest in history which i recognized only when i am in my final year of graduation. I had interest to know about history of my motherland 'INDIA',read some books regarding that. After reading some books my attitude on history changed into a skeptical way.... let me make it clear. I really felt like questioning the information written in history books.

During the course i had learnt that history is never written perfectly. It is always biased.As we all know the "study of past" is history,and one who writes history are called historians.So according to the information i gave in first paragraph even the study of events a second ago is also History.In the words of an Italian philosopher Bendetto Croce "All history is contemporary".Since historians are observers and participants,the works they produce are written from the perspective of their own time. So it had been always more or less one-sided. Thus in every historical work we read, there will be a dark side which the author may not like to mention. Thus listening only to brighter point of history is foolishness in my view. So blindly not believing the history we have to question ourselves that

whether the history we read is really True/False?

I present in this book some historical events which had controversies.These controversies arise only in the case of writing a history one-sided. When we never mention the other part of the event ,certainly a new historian mentions the other side and the new one becomes the controversial.

Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari aka Rajaji(Bharata Ratna recipient,Cheif minister of Tamil Nadu 1952-54) said about swami that,

Subhash ChandraBose said,

"Vivekananda is the maker of Modern India".

Mohandas Gandhi(Father of the Nation) said that,

"Vivekananda's influence increased his love for his country a thousandfold".

His birthday is celebrated as 'National Youth Day' (January 12th).

He represented hinduism in our sacred saffron color and the attire that could better suit to our Sanathana Dharma..

He spoke there with a greeting that brought him a standing Ovation from the audience of parliament which lasted for 2 minutes....."Sister's and Brother's of America........" .

Thus a dynamic personality who gave indian heritage a rebirth had many interesting works written by his own and many famous quotations...

Shaheed Bhagat singh.

He was chosen by youth of India as just an alternative to Mahatma Gandhi. He gave a new direction to Revolutionary movement in India. "Bhagat Singh"... on listening to this name the events like Kakori Robbery,Saunders (Police) murder, Bomb in Parliament come into our mind....But bhagat singh was not just that. To know completely about him read this, u will get a brief idea about his excellent thoughts and will realize why he was so famous...

Biography:

1907-1919

Bhagat singh was born in a sikh family to Sardar kishen singh and vidyavati. His father and uncle ajit singh were members of Gadhr party. His family was actively involved in freedom fight. The incidents which he saw at a very tender age of 10-13 made him take a very agressive stance against British. One of them was the famous "Jallianwala Bagh Massacre".

1919 Jallianwala Bagh Massacre

This was an incident which the whole world condemned at that time, but the britishers praised General O Dyer who was responsible for this Massacre. Bhagat Singh went to jallianwala bagh and took some sand from there and kept it with him ,so that he should not forget this brutal behaviour of Britishers. He was then attracted to Mahathma Gandhi for his "Non Co-operation Movement"(National Boycott). Thus actively participated in this movement though he was just 12 at that time. He was a complete follower of Gandhi at this point of time.

1919-28

After the famous incident of Chauri chaura in Gorakhpur....Gandhiji took back his Non-Cooperation movement saying that country is not still ready for independence. Then this incident hurt the feelings of Bhagat Singh. Earlier gandhi said that "We will get independence just within 6 months"..Now took back the movement. This degraded his feeling on mahathma. He after a long period came to a conclusion that "through Congress its going to be difficult to get independence". He studied in National College punjab established by 'Lala Lajpat Rai'. After National Boycott students from governement schools who participated in that were not allowed to join in any government schools. So Lala came forward to establish this National College for those people. There Bhagat singh found his revolutionary partner 'Sukhdev Thapar'. National College was center of revolutionary activities in Punjab. There these two became friends as they had similar ideals and ideas.

Hindustan Republican Association

It was an indian independence organisation formed to overthrow british government through armed struggle. Bhagat was inspired to join in this association,as its path was different from that gandhi's non-violence. One of the professors of National college 'Vidyalankar' helped him in joining this organisation. Thus Bhagat became a member of HRA led by 'Ram prasad Bismil'. Ram prasad Bismil was a great poet and wrote a famous revolutionary poem

'Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab Humare Dil mein hai...

Dekhna hai jhor kitna bhajuve khatil mein hai...'

English:

'The Desire of revolution is now burning in our hearts....We must now see the strength in the enemy's weapons'

Bismil liked the courage of bhagat singh,admired him a lot. Bismil and others planned 'Kakori Robbery' to loot one train at a station named 'Kakori'. This plan was attended by Bismil,chandrasekhar azad,bhagavati,Durga bhabhi....and some others.

They looted british money bags and ran away, but after a big haunt british police found out all the members of HRA involved in Robbery except 'Chandra Sekhar Azad'.

Hindustan Socialist Republican Association

After all of the main leaders caught in Robbery conspiracy,bhagat grew up as one of the main members of HRA. He also lead 'Naujawan Bharat Sabha' in order to wake up youth in various parts of india. He beleived that 'Revolutions across the world achieved success only when they reached masses'. Thus went into people and spread ideas like 'Hindu muslim unity'. He decided to gain mass following for the revolutionary movement in others parts of india too,not just restricting themselves to Punjab.

He renamed the party HRA to HSRA (Hindustan Socialist Republican Association). He was the first person among all the freedom fighters who demanded 'Complete Independence' and also about Post-independence Administration. He stated that even if Congress get independence to india, it just like 'Power transferred from British to Rich people in india'. So he added 'Socialist' in the name of the party. He was inspired by Russian revolutions and had read Karl Marx Biography too. HSRA involved in many major movements and the most famous of them was 'Saunders Murder'......

Simon Commission was headed by Sir John Simon. It was formed by british to study constitutional reforms. The committie did not consist even one indian. This was condemned by

'Indian National Congress' and they decided to Boycott the committee and protest their visit to india.

On October 30,1928 Commission arrived in Lahore, Where it met with a large group of protestors led by 'Lala Lajpat Rai'. HSRA decided to support the movement. Infront of large group a British police 'Scott' ,ordered others to beat 'Lala ji' until he die. Thus brutally all kept beating an old man until he met with death. Bhagat singh ,sukhdev every one witnessed and they were stopped by police. This incident was just condemned by Congress,but bhagat wanted to take a severe action against British, so that they must fear to take such brutal decissions again.

This was the recent book i have read,written by Shiv khera. It gives clear ideas about the real duties of the youth in india. Author says that youth may not form 100% of india's present , but they are surely 100% of future for india. So he says that if they move in right direction and try to keep up the real freedom for india, then india will definitely be a role model for many countries across world. He says the first target for them should be to eradicate the endemic "Corruption" from our country. So you guys (youth), react to the call, we must join hands to eliminate this virus(Corruption) from our country and make our country the prosperous and rich both in heritage and wealth........We are living happily in india, it means our army is doing their work correctly at the border,so salute to those who gave away their complete life in devotion for the countries Welfare..

When u ask an army member how they feel, they say that "We are giving our present life for the countries tommorow"... Then what are we doing here???? Our leaders being selfish and encouraging corruption. Author in his book mentions that, we many of our indians are being successful in other countries than in india..Reason is simple that the environment in india is not even suitable for a very clever and intelligent person to succeed here. Where as the environment in other countries is even suitable for an average indian to succeed. So u could see in the top American Billionaire's, people from indian origin are more...It doesn't happen in india. To get the same result here we must change the environment here.
