The Indian Astrology more itself Vedic is the original system of Hindu astrology. Recent investigations suggest is the astrological system older than it exists, although it is certain well that it is said the same of the Chinese astrology. With the passage of the centuries many new elements in this system have been introduced, including the use of 'nuevos' planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, but with some few exceptions the basic foundations of the traditional astrology India by the modern professionals are recognized and only accepted. Probably the greater difference between the astrology Western and Vedic is the used Zodiac. The western astrologers use the Tropical Zodiac, which begins in the 0 of Aries when the Sun crosses the ecliptic of the South to North, approximately each 21 of March of the year (the Equinox of Spring). The Vedic astrology uses the Sidereal Zodiac that considers the 0 of Aries as a fixed point, based on the constellations. Had al phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes, the difference between the Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs grows every year, around of 50 seconds in length. Normally 24 degrees are taken following the calculations from the Indian Government. The difference between the Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs is called Ayanamsha. Like turn out to use a different zodiac, most of people it will find that the planets of their letter are in planetary different signs and because the meaning is basically such in both systems the interpretation of a native letter in both system can be very different and difficult to conciliate. In addition, a very different attitude with respect to the free will exists which leads to a concept of the radically different world. The normal vision in the West is that nosotrtos we can control our destiny, whereas the Védica/Hindú vision is much more fatalistic. These differences are made much more I pretend in the meaning assigned to the astrological events, the western ones are vaguer and less determinist. The Vedic astrology uses zodiacal signs such and the 12 houses (known as Bhava) but the method to raise a letter are quite different. There are infact 2 methods, mentioned some times like the South and North of India. The one that we used in our programs of astrology Vedic Astrology is ' but auténticamenté the method of the South that consists of a square letter with the 0 of Aries in the point this (to 9 o'clock). The Ascending one (Lagna) can therefore appear anywhere of the letter. The planets used in Vedic are 9 in number, the Sun, the Moon, and the planets until Saturn, plus the Nodes of the Moon. These are the Average Nodes, not them calls True Nodes in western astrology, that receive the name of Rahu (North) and Ketu (South). In addition to Rahu and Ketu there are other 5 mentioned nonluminous planets in astrological treaties called the Upagrahas and have five fixed positions in the ecliptic relative to the position of the sun. Like Rahu and Ketu do not have mass or opacity and more or less maleficent nature is assigned to them. The Vedic astrology, like China, is essentially lunar more than to pave, and like in the West the 28 Lunar Mansions, they correspond to monthly routes of the Moon, and are very important. The Vedic astrology uses the system of equal houses. But while in western astrology the Ascending one like the conversed point is taken from the first house, in Vedic astrology it takes the 0 degrees from the sign of the Ascending one like the beginning of the first house. In addition to this system of domificatión the 15 degrees to both sides can be taken from the Ascending one to form the first house, and the 15 degrees to each side are taken from following Rashi to constitute the second house, and thus with the others. Like in western astrology, the planets have signs where they are raised or they debilitated (in damage), but them sign exaltación and weakening is different. The meaning assigned to planets is basically similar. One of the areas of the one of Vedic astrology that mainly interests to the western ones is the system of the periods greater and smaller. This divides to the life in fixed periods and sub-periods, each one of them governed by different planets (including Rahu and Ketu). The departure point of all of them is the native letter and the planet under how you have been born. The Vedic planetary positions can be calculated using Astrocalc when selecting Sidereal the Zodiac option. If it prints the letter click in the option can use this option to see the meaning doing See the right of this stamp. Remember that Bhava means Houses and that the Vedic Astrology uses the Signo=Casa convention. The instructions given here come from authentic Vedic writings and therefore they reflect the excellent conditions and ideas at the time in which they were written. Obvious the meaning and its use for the western ones have to adapt. The Horacalc program for Windows is our program of Vedic Astrology for which they want to study the subject more thoroughly.

The Zodiac is an imaginary ring in the sky which encircles our solar system like a girdle. To determine the positions of the planets on this circle we need some reference point, a point which will remain fixed while the heavenly bodies keep moving.
The seers of Vedic Astrology took a faraway star which remains stationary and the positions of the planets were determined by referring them to this fixed star cluster. This is known as the sidereal system. Sidereal means measured by stars. The fixed star cluster chosen for the purpose is taken as the 1st degree of Aries, the starting point of the Indian Zodiac.
The Western system also uses a fixed reference point but utilizes the equinoxes for the purpose. Interestingly, 1st degree of Aries is yet again the starting point of the Western Zodiac. But the major difference is that the position of the Sun on Vernal equinox (the first day of spring) is taken as the 1st degree of Aries. This works equally well because the Sun moves 360° in a year. This is known as the Tropical Zodiac.
Taking two different reference points does not make one system valid and the other invalid. In fact, one can be mathematically deduced from the other. Ancient Indians were aware of this. They knew that, because of the perpetual titling of the earth the equinoxes moved approximately 1° in every 72 years. So, they introduced the idea of 'Ayanamsha' to accommodate the procession of the equinoxes (Ayanchalan).
Hence, the Western Tropical Zodiac is called 'Sayan' (with Ayan) i.e., with the procession of equinoxes and the Sidereal Zodiac is called 'Nirayan' (without Ayan) where this is ignored.
The planets and the houses in both systems are the same. There are some differences in approach. For example, in Indian Astrology the most important reference point in a Horoscope is the 1st house known as Ascendant while in the Western System the Sun occupies the central place.

The word 'Astrology' is derived from two roots - 'aster,' or star, and 'logos,' or logic - giving it the meaning 'star logic'.
The importance of Astrology in our lives can be gauged from the real meaning of the word 'disaster.' The word 'disaster' is made up of two roots - 'dis' or separation, and 'aster' or stars - giving it the meaning 'separation from the stars. The implications of this meaning in relation with the present understanding of this word are not hard to see.
Astrology is our only connection with the cosmos. All we have is sky above and ground below.
Astrology connects the patterns in the heavens with the happenings on earth.
Astrology is the oldest among sciences. Its origins can be traced back to the beginning of the cosmos and it will be relevant as long as the universe exists
Astrology is the soul of astronomy ... it begins where astronomy stops. Astronomy without Astrology is as lifeless as a body without a soul ...it is similar to trying to appreciate a painting by analyzing the chemical composition of the colours used.
Astrology is the language of the stars ... it is in fact the Universal language.
Astrology is basically a science of time. Every moment in time has a certain quality attached to it. By being born at a particular moment in time under the heavens we imbibe this quality. The personal horoscope is just a simplified map of the heavens at the moment we are born. It is in turn a guide map for our journey through time on the planet known as earth.
Astrology does not pronounce any judgement. Just like nature, it has no good or bad. It just reveals what was, what is, and what can be.
Astrology is not about depending on fate as a lot of people purport it to be. In fact, it puts more emphasis on karma than fate. Today's 'karma' is tomorrow's 'fate'.
Astrology is the science of 'light' and lights the path known as life. It is finally up to us to traverse the path once it has been lighted.
Astrology is not about bondage to a cruel hand of fate or destiny but all about attaining freedom through understanding and proper use of our freewill.
Astrology functions upon the natures law - "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Our fate (present life) is made up of our own actions (past) and thus can be dissolved only by our own actions (present). It is all a question of varying forces. Supposing if our previous actions carry a weight of 100 lb. and if our effort (in the present) outweighs 100 lb. we will overcome our fate.
Astrology lets us know what tools we have at our disposal in the present life and how we can make best possible use of them.
Astrology is the answer to the 'why' of everything with in the realm of human existence.
Astrology is a catalyst in our evolutionary journey ... it can help us learn our lessons with the minimum of strife.
Astrology is all about lessening confusion and increasing clarity.
Astrology is all-encompassing ... it covers all the spheres of human existence. It is the root of psychology, healing and all other humanitarian pursuits.
Astrology is all-inclusive ... it has no bias for any race, religion, gender, culture or nationality. It has space for all the modern branches of science and even those who don't believe in it!
Astrology has much more to offer than just being a tool for foretelling the future.
Astrology is the chord linking the past, present and the future.
Astrology is a conscious way of living our lives on earth. In Plato's words " a life unanalyzed is not worth living"... it is a wonderful tool for self-introspection and self-analysis.
Astrology is a personal as well as a collective science.
Astrology is more about understanding than belief ... it is a knowledge system not a belief system.
Astrology is the key to attaining the understanding of the workings of the Universal Mind.
Astrology basically deals with consciousness ... it works on a material level through the level of consciousness.
Astrology in a sense deciphers the handwriting of the Creator ... it unravels the message inherent in the stars spawning the night sky.
Astrology is the only common link between all the existing as well as the ancient cultures.
Astrology is not a science of chance, but since probabilities exist at the quantum level of existence as modern physics has found they do so at the macro level as well. So astrology doesn't say a certain event is going to happen. It only indicates that there is a certain probability of an event happening.
Astrology is as valid as its practitioner. It can only be pronounced valid or invalid after being put to test like everything else. Sir Isaac Newton's retort when a fellow scientist was questioning its validity - ," but Sir, I practice it and you don't " - puts this point in perspective.
Astrology is amazingly accurate ... it can work accurately even on a daily or hourly basis if required.
