HI Folks.

A great thing has happened.
My great old pal, Mr. Rajender Pal Singh Chahal has located me, thanks to the internet and of course my world-wide popularity (!).

My many many thanks to him. He has also made me come in contact with a lot of my old batch mates.
Its great to hear them and then see them.

In fact when Chahal rang me up from a pnb office, it searched through my memory of 'chahals' in pnb. Could not find any.
It was only after he said bye did I realize the great occasion. It was like Stanley meeting David Livingstone.

Mr. Stanley said: -- `Doctor Livingstone, I presume?' A smile lit up the features of the hale white man as he answered: `Yes, that is my name' ..."

Well the sequence repeated when I got a from Dipy. The great mustachioed Colonel said ' Is that Pratul Speaking"
and the answer to my yes was - Remeber you used to ride my bike.

But the best was from Kavita
"I did'nt get your name."
and after I repeated it , the exclamations that came for the next couple of minutes are hard to document.

The first phase has been documents. The rest will continue.

A Long time this blog has kept silent.

a felt that the silence would cause a tremor in the internet. But my wishes were dashed.

The internet did not move an ion.

Much and nothing has happened in the meanwhile.

Exams and passing and failing. People filling forms and not appearing.

People not filling forms.

Sume tragic things also.

RE: What the Common Man Wants !?

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Blog. Sorry for the long gap in the updates. I was a bit involved in giving exams and finding accommodation.

In these troubled times (!) I saw a movie called “A Wednesday’. My family members liked it. I liked it. My relatives liked it. All my friends liked .

For those who could not afford to see it, the story is something like this.

It’s a Wednesday when Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher), the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai receives a phone call asking him to release four militants.

A terrorist organisation, represented by one person (Nasreeudin Shah) in the film, places a bomb in the Police Headquarters of the Mumbai police and challenges them to find it. The police do find it , only to realise that it had been placed there for them to find it. The police are informed that more such bombs are placed in different locations of the city and if they do not meet the demands then of course the bombs will do what they have been manufactured to do. BLOW UP.

The demands are very simple. Four terrorists who have been arrested should be brought to a secluded place and released. The government is forced to accede to this request, since no trace of the remaining bombs could be found.

When the terrorists are released, one of the Police Officers disobeys orders and takes one of the terrorist with him. At the point of release a mobile rings. When it is picked up, it triggers a bomb and the remaining three are no more. With due negotiation the fourth is also killed.

It transpires that the “Terrorist Organisation” is but one common man. He has got fed up of the system where the actual terrorists can blow any part of any city and cause death and destruction of people like him. This is his way of replying to the terror attacks.

A must see movie.

The question that came to my mind is how all the common people who saw the movie, including me, empathised with the idea. Mostly non-violent people were placing themselves mentally in the role of the hero/villain. How do you place the person who blows up people. Surely the villain of the movie.

Then how do you place the people who wanted such acts to take place in real life ?

These acts of mindless violence, more so highlighted and placed in our drawing room by the “MEDIA”, are eating into our well being.

Think my friends. Life as we knew it is no more. Those times when writing a letter once a week was considered the most responsible act by children away from home. And Now ?

INDIA GATE

Hi all,

Just wanted to share something with you guys.....

Yesterday being a Sunday, i decided to pay a visit to India Gate.

A short walk of 20mins and i was there. It was around 5:30PM and there was a huge crowd at the India gate. All around i could see, people were sitting on the lawns around the monument, having fun with their families. There were some shallow water bodies/fountains around the place and young kids were splashing about the place. Vendors ( bhelpuri, candy floss, ice cream, balloons...etc) were having a busy time ,attracting attention and selling their wares. Standing at the India Gate, i could see the outline of the Rastrapati Bhavan against the setting sun. In all, it was a pretty sight...except for....the lawns all around were scattered with trash(empty bottles, all flavours of Ruffles Lays covers with a pose of Saif grinning on them ,paper plates and what not),the water was a greenish colour with some of the earlier mentioned trash floating on it(i mean if fish were in that water they would have jumped out and preferred to end their lives than be in that water or would have mutated into some fearful creatures which we see in some Hollywood movies).

I bought some Bhel Puri,and stood watching the kids splash about in the water. Many people passed me, or came and stood near me and i could overhear their conversations. They were all saying chiiii dekho ye sab kitna ghanda hai(this is so dirty), persuading their kids not to enter the water. But again they were not hesitating to throw whatever trash they had in their hands wherever they were walking.

Cant blame them entirely as there was no proper distribution of dustbins about the place. I could only see some situated far away.

I felt like going upto these individuals and tell them "You are further dirtying up the place .Why cant you put some effort and throw stuff in the dustbins."...You know what response i'll get. Either the facial expression "Who the hell are you. Why dont you mind your own business!" or #!@@#?$^*!(Ghaliya). i could say like that only to my family memebers, friends and people i am acquainted with, and thats why i couldnt stop myself from writing this mail to you people :-)

Its the general human mentality. If the surrounding place is clean like the ITPL lawns, people would hesitate to litter it. They would look for a proper place to dispose stuff. If the place is already littered up, they would just toss the empty bottle or ice cream wrapper into the open without a second thought. In India, we dont have proper waste management, there are no dustbins at public places, and even if there are ,many are often in a bad condition, overflowing to the brim, and have a cow or a dog attached to them, scourging for food. But there is a chance that they will get cleaned up sometime. When we have some unwanted stuff on our hands and we are outside our home/office, we dont hesitate to throw them onto the road/footpath...even simple things like a toffee we just pop the toffee into our mouth and the wrapper onto the road, is it such a heavy thing that we cant pocket the wrapper and dispose it when we reach our home/office and find a dustbin. There is no use of praising foreign lands for their cleanliness and neatness. Unless we put in our bit to keep our surroundings clean whenever we can....things will be just the way they are.

Give it some thought !!

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of thenobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

THE BRICK

A young and successful

executive was traveling down a

neighborhood street, going a

bit too fast in his new Jaguar.

He was watching for kids

darting out from between

parked cars and slowed down

when he thought he saw

something. As his car passed,

no children appeared. Instead,

a brick smashed into the Jag's

side door!

He slammed on the brakes and

backed the Jag back to the spot

where the brick had been

thrown. The angry driver then

jumped out of the car, grabbed

the nearest kid and pushed him

up against a parked car

shouting, 'What

was that all about and who are

you? Just what the heck are

you doing? That's a new car

and that brick you threw is

going to cost a lot of money .

Why did you do it?'

The young boy was apologetic.

'Please, mister...please, I'm

sorry but I didn't know what else

to do,' He pleaded.

'I threw the brick because no

one else would stop...'

With tears dripping down his

face and off his chin,

the youth pointed to a spot just

around a parked car.

'It's my brother, 'he said 'He

rolled off the curb and fell out of

his wheelchair and I can't lift

him up.'

Now sobbing, the boy asked

the stunned executive, 'Would

you please help me get him

back into his wheelchair? He's

hurt and he's too heavy for me.'

Moved beyond words, the

driver tried to swallow the

rapidly swelling lump in his

throat. He hurriedly lifted the

handicapped boy back into the

wheelchair, then took out a

linen handkerchief and dabbed

at the fresh scrapes and cuts.

A quick look told him everything

was going to be okay. 'Thank

you and may God bless you,'

the grateful child told the

stranger. Too shook up for

words, the man simply watched

the boy! push his wheelchair-

bound brother down the

sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to

the Jaguar. The damage was

very noticeable, but the driver

never bothered to repair the

dented side door. He kept the

dent there to remind him of this

message:

'Don't go through life so fast

that someone has to throw a

brick at you to get your

attention!'

God whispers in our souls and

speaks to our hearts.

Sometimes when we don't

have time to listen, He has to

throw a brick at us. It's our

choice to listen or not.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking.

The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance.
When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
