If you have 100 posts and you're not making over $1,000 per month then more posts is NOT the answer!

If the site is over 1 year old, you don't have a QUANTITY problem, you have a QUALITY problem.

Go back to your old posts and check these 5 things.

1. Do you have a ranking problem or a traffic problem (or both?)

A ranking problem is when you rank position 5+.
A traffic problem is when you rank in the top 3 but nobody is searching.
A post with a ranking problem is usually easier to fix.

2. How good is your content, really?

Compare it to the top three articles in Google.

Is yours longer?
Does the intro draw you in?
Does it go into more detail?
Does it have ORIGINAL research?
Is the spelling and grammar perfect?
Does it have the right headings?

3. How good was your keyword research?

Is the main keyword something you can actually rank for?
Is your DR/DA equal to or higher than those ranking in the top 3?
If it's not (that's okay), but does your article match the query better?

4. Check your internal links.

Have you got at least 3 internal links coming to each post from relevant articles?
Are these in context and written in a way that encourages people to click them?
Have you included a variety of keywords in the anchor text?

5. Have you really gone above and beyond with each post?

Have you included your own unique images?
Have you embedded useful videos (your own or others)?
Have you created data tables, graphs or diagrams?

Fixing your existing posts might not be as fun as writing new ones...
But it's a much better use of your time and it will get you the results you need faster.

You learn a lot from blogging. My blog went from $0 to a 6-figure/year business in 2 years.

Here are 7 tips I wish I had before I started my blog.

1. Doing > Planning

The plan you make with your first site will change a lot. It's better to just jump in and start publishing content.

You'll tweak that original plan several times in the first year. And that's okay. Year 1 is about learning.

2. Don't go too niche

Backing yourself into a corner with a niche can stink. It's great at first, but what if you want to expand after 2-3 years?

Would you trust a laptop review from "OfficeChairDude"?

Think broadly with the domain but narrow with the content.

3. Build your email list early

Email lists are great. These are your most loyal fans and you can interact with them to understand their real pain points better.

Plus they're more prone to buy a recommendation after they're a loyal fan.

4. Outsource Content ASAP

If you plan to grow your site, you're going to need more content. Either hire and train an in-house writer or use a service.

Beware, though, most writing services suck. If you need a recommendation on a good one, let me know.

5. More Backlinks

Now that you have another writer, as they're ramping up, start pitching guest posts on much larger sites.

Now you can write the perfect guest post without slowing down content production on your own site.

6. Avoid Social Media

Making a Facebook page for your site sounds cool until you're spending so much time working on it that you're not producing content.

In my experience, in the first year, social media for your brand is more distracting than helpful.

7. The Money Will Come

It's easy to get discouraged and feel like you're not going to get there. But you will.

If you're comparing yourself to other blogs look at how many YEARS they've been doing. This stuff takes time. Don't be so hard on yourself.
