Yummy Mini Strawberry Milkshake with Fresh Cream Topping ~

2011-07-29T22:34:00.002+08:00

Hi there! I have to share this little project I made lately. I was kind of soo addicted to those mini, little handmade cuties like desserts, cakes and shakes made of polymer clay. To me personally, polymer clay is something I would love to try my hands on but not for now so, I came up with the thought, Why not make one out of felt!! Since I have pieces of scraps lying around & do not wanna waste them.. I made this, a little strawberry milkshake and attached it to a piece of magnet to display on my fridge. It measures about 1 1/2" tall and 1/4" in diameter. I think it turned out yummy..next, I'm gonna be making an ice blended coffee!

What do you think? ^ ^

Thanks for dropping by!

~ Felt Tea Play Set ~

2011-05-15T18:59:00.004+08:00

Hi! I just finished stitching up a cute project which I've been wanting to do for a long time. A felt Tea Play set for my little girl. Believe me it wasn't easy as you have to really put your brains into sketching and designing it all on a piece of paper. I really love the co-ordination of the color as green and pink reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake! Guess what's gonna be my next project?? A set of felt pots and pans!

Tutorial ~ Padded Fabric Snap Clip

2011-05-03T16:29:00.006+08:00

Here is a sweet tutorial on how to make a padded fabric snap clip. I've included step- by -step photos for easy understanding. Here you go;

Snap Clip (any size) ~ sponge batting (larger than the clip pattern)~ pre-cut fabric (cut larger than the clip pattern ) ~ sharp pair of Scissors ~ strong Glue. I use UHU which is perfect for fabrics

Step 1~ Apply some glue to the top part of the snap clip as shown.

Step 2~ Attach the sponge batting to the glued part

~ It should look like this

*oops! sorry about the spelling in the picture'~'

Step 3 ~ Now lay the snap clip with sponge batting on the fabric piece and sew some running stitches all around as shown

Step 4~ Pull the thread and finish off with a knot. Then you've got to kind of carefully gather the leftover fabric pieces around the stitches and neatly hold them in place

Oh! I actually forgot to mention that you'll also need a piece of Felt (pre-cut using the clip pattern):)

Step 5 ~ Cut a small slit in the centre

and place it on the clip as shown

Step 6 ~ Next, stitch neatly around the clip to finish

and you're done!

Happy crafting!!

~Easy No Sew Sock Puppet Tutorial~

2011-04-19T16:00:00.003+08:00

Hi everyone!..it's been quiet sometime since I blogged. Today, I'm gonna share a tutorial on making an Easy Sock Puppet and this is going to be my very first tutorial! My little girl loves puppets. So, rumaging through her old used clothes I found these pair of colorful striped socks. We did this project together and it was fun!

Step 1 :Here is what you'll need,

A good pair of scissors to cut felt, pieces of felt, googly eyes ( you can even use felt if you don't have them), glue or any other strong adhesives

Step 2: Lay your sock heel side up, and smooth it down flat. You should have a crease straight through the middle and a flattened heel flap on top. This is going to be the mouth.

Step 3: Cut a circle felt mouth piece and glue onto the flattened heel flap and add some teeth and tongue as shown.

This is how it should look..

Step 4 : Turn it over to the other side..this will be the face. Now, add some eyes and button for nose..you can even use felt balls.

Step 5: Next, cut strips on both sides of a piece of rectangular felt..this will be the hair.

You may even use colorful pieces of yarn.

The shorter strips will be the fringe..

Add glue..

and stick it just above the eye level.

You may add some embelishments to the hair like a piece of flower or buttons!

and your done :)

Oh! And here is another one that we made earlier..

Aren't they look cute together?

Have fun creating!

Playing With Trash: Cardboard Cell Phones

2011-03-30T12:53:00.003+08:00

Hello everyone, I came across this site http://dollarstorecrafts.com/ today..and believe me, if you are looking for a craft site with recycling and under the budget projects, then this is the right place for you! The site shares crafts for as less than under $1.00 from used materials around your home so you don't have to spend too much on materials and you get a very satisfactory result. You can even find free tutorials on original projects with clear instructions.

Below is a cute craft project for your child using just a piece of cardboard. I used to throw away those empty cardboard boxes lying around the home not knowing just what to do with them, but now...This site has given me the inspiration to recycle and make a good use of them for my little girl. Now, how about you??

Thanks for visiting!

By Heather

When you don’t have money for a new toy, get creative and make your own out of recycled cardboard. I made two flip-type cell phones out of cardboard for my sons, and they played with them for hours. Kids have big imaginations, and often get more fun out of simple (REALLY simple) toys than they do from over-the-top expensive toys.

I get discouraged when I buy toys and then my kids don’t play with them longer than five minutes. It makes me feel like I wasted money or chose the wrong toy. I feel bad about myself when I buy cheapo plastic toys in the dollar aisle at the store. My solution to all these negative feelings? I think “What would Laura Ingalls do (if she lived in the 21st century)?” Okay, I don’t know if Laura’s 21st century kiddos would play with trash-turned-toys or if she’d fall victim to the same challenges as we do when it comes to entertaining our kids. What I do know is that kids don’t understand or care how much toys cost. They just care if the toys spark their imagination.

One solution to combat mommy-toy-guilt (and I’m all about combating guilt in any form) is to give my kids toys that I make for them out of stuff that is on its way to the trash can. I find myself returning to this idea again and again (do you remember the Lego playhouse I made out of an old yogurt box?).
Supplies for Cardboard Cell Phones:

a piece of cardboard (corrugated is good)
heavy-duty scissors or X-acto knife
Pen or markers

Making a cardboard cell phone could not be simpler. Cut a rectangular piece of cardboard (leave a notch at the top for an antenna), and draw cell phone details on one side. You probably have cooler phones than I do, so just make your cardboard phone the appropriate shape for phones in your household.
Great things about the cardboard cell phone: it’s free to make, easy to replace if lost, easy enough to make for multiple children, is a good toy to stash in your purse in case you need an emergency toy. In addition, there are educational reasons to play with a pretend phone: teach your child about phone use (including phone etiquette and phone numbers), or help your child develop her imagination and social skills.
Making cardboard toys doesn’t stop with cell phones. Use cardboard to make nearly any toy you can think of – it doesn’t matter if they’re only 2D. Your child will enjoy playing with them no matter how basic they look. Ideas for other cardboard toys: tools (saw, hammer, etc.), kitchen items (a cardboard box turned into a stove was a big hit in our house), or pretend makeup (glue a piece of foil in your cardboard compact!).
Like I said, my children really enjoyed this simple toy, and played with them for hours over the course of a week, until they fell apart. No problem, though! Next time I need a quick activity for them, I can make one of these in about thirty seconds. Score one for mom!

Altered Finds

2011-01-28T15:00:00.004+08:00

Today, I altered my daughter's pair of plain jeans...

to this....

When I and my sister and brothers were young, my mom use to bathe us early in the afternoon just to get us ready to watch Sesame Street program. It was one of our favourites.I still watch it today with my daughter whenever I get the time to and Elmo is Leeza's favourites.
The Elmo image on the jeans was firstly hand drawn on a piece of paper and then hand cut separately. I then traced and cut them out of felt. Then I sew the pieces on a pre-cut larger than the Elmo image (black felt ). Lastly, this whole piece was hand sewn onto the jeans and I also printed the word Elmo using a White Foam Fabric paint. And there you have it..A Pair of Elmo Appliqued Jeans:)
