From the moment we found out that my wife was pregnant, life itself changed drastically for both of us. We were no longer the misty eyed, loving couple we had once been. Almost overnight, as soon as the pregnancy test turned positive, we transformed into what I can only express as a pair of paranoid, over concerned would be parents. Nevertheless the transitions were more than mind deep. They went deep down into our souls and schedules. And nothing could have impacted our lives than the discovery of the birth chart.

My wife, in her constant trawl on the web for baby resources, had come across a birth chart. Simply put, this birth chart is nothing Nevertheless an excel file that tracks the progress of the pregnancy month on month and keeps us updated on the transitions that she would be undergoing. Notice that I say she, Nevertheless what I actually mean is we. After all, being directly responsible for the pregnancy in the first place, I could not hope to escape the disorder that the birth chart would wreck now, could I?

Anyways, to get back to the birth chart, it soon became an integral part of our lives. My wife had printed out the whole thing and it ran into 40 pages of color coded blocks of text, indicating the various stages of her pregnancy. While I was initially fascinated by the birth chart, as the pregnancy progressed, my wife began looking at it as some sort of bible that would tell her how to live her life.

The first part where the birth chart had an impact on our lives was naturally on our diets. Suddenly, some of my best loved foods were banished from not just the kitchen, Nevertheless the household as well. When I tried to question her, she gave me that ‘ I know what is best for me and our baby’ look and effectively silenced me. The second part that was soon invaded and conquered was the waking and sleeping moments. Rather than wait for the baby to be born in order to adjust our sleep cycles, my wife mapped out the predictions and comments in the birth chart to manage our sleeping moments. Which is why I would suddenly find myself rudely being shaken out of my beauty sleep in order to feel the baby move at all odd times of the day and night.

Nevertheless I drew the line when the birth chart was used to manage my dressing as well. I mean how did it matter what I wore as the baby could never see me of hope to be influenced by it. If I had a nagging hunch before that my wife was using the birth chart to gain control over my life, it was now ratified. And so, out went the birth chart and in came normality.

Women who are expecting are not encouraged to take herbal supplements. However there are pregnancy herbs that bring benefit to pregnant mother without causing harm to the unborn baby. Following is some information on two pregnancy herbs that can be used during gestation safely.

The first is red raspberry herb and this pregnancy herb is absolutely safe to take during pregnancy and when trying to conceive. This pregnancy herb is also safe to sue while breastfeeding as well. The raspberry leaves can be used to aid digestion and help elevate some digestive problems. The herb is also useful in treating stomach upset in children.

The red raspberry pregnancy herb is commonly taken in tea but it can also be used as an astringent. The dried raspberry leaves are put into a pint of boiling water. This remarkably simple combination can be used as a gargle to relieve sore throats or it can be used to heal canker sores.
The leaves of the red raspberry can be combined with slippery elm bark to be used to clean cuts, scrapes and burns. The concoction is considered a safe pregnancy herb partially because it is not ingested and also because it is natural and quite simple. The slippery elm should not be ingested, to be safe.

Raspberry leaf tea is a useful pregnancy herb that can benefit the uterus. The leaf is also called a “uterine tonic” that a pregnant woman can drink without worry. The tea can be served warm or chilled with ice and still have the same benefits.

False Unicorn Root, also known as chamaelirium luteum, is used as a pregnancy herb that functions as a tonic and a diuretic. These medical uses are very welcomed to any expectant mother who feels bloated and uncomfortable. The False Unicorn Root is of great value in helping females who have disorders in the reproductive organs.

This pregnancy herb is believed to relieve impotence and it is believed to aid in repairing genitor-urinary weaknesses and irritability. It is also used as a possible remedy for liver and kidney diseases. However, large doses of False Unicorn Root can be poisonous and have adverse effects on the heart.

One would wonder why a potentially poisonous element would be used as a pregnancy herb. The False Unicorn Root has to be taken in extremely large doses to have an adverse effect. It is also said to relieve the nausea and vomiting of pregnancy and it is believed to prevent miscarriages.

What are the early signs of pregnancy? Is there actually a symptom that is telling you whether you are pregnant or not? Well, the following article explains the ordinary early signs that show and tell you if you are pregnant.

The early signs of pregnancy vary from one woman to another; some may have all the signs in the book and others may just have a few or no signs at all. Each pregnancy is different for each woman, whether it is her first or fourth pregnancy; there may be resemblance but no two are predictably alike. The early signs of pregnancy vary greatly, and may be noted at once two weeks after conception. A woman usually has a regular monthly cycle and if she has a missed period, there is a high possibility exists that she is actually pregnant. This is one of the cardinal early signs of pregnancy.

Another way is to get an over-the-counter pregnancy test which can be obtained for a reasonable price to confirm or deny the early signs of pregnancy. Depending on what type of pregnancy test is used, length of time after conception to when it is detectable can vary from test to test. Blood testing is the most accurate and can detect pregnancy hormones in as little as 48 hours after conception but is much more expensive. Since urine testing is an inexpensive method, this is the most ordinary pregnancy test used, but cannot detect pregnancy until at least 2-4 weeks after conception, or 1-2 weeks after a missed period.

Among the other classic early signs of pregnancy are nausea upon getting up in the morning (morning sickness), breast tenderness, and tiredness. Many women never experience morning sickness and some have it throughout their entire pregnancy. Two other early signs of pregnancy are constant urination and the increased of vaginal secretions. This happen as the uterus change and growing pressure is placed on the bladder resulting in the constant visits to the restroom. The increased vaginal secretions are a sign of hormone production and formation of the mucous plug that will protect the developing fetus from bacteria and other harmful substances.

If a woman have unusual or missing monthly cycles, it may be very difficult for such a woman to know if she is pregnant and, if she is pregnant at all, the early signs of pregnancy can be missed. Certain types of birth control, such as the Pill or Depo-Provera injections may cause periods to be very light or missing. Being aware of the early signs of pregnancy gives a woman more control over the pregnancy, whether it is planned or not. However, there is a lot of information accessible on conception and the early signs of pregnancy from health care providers, women’s clinics, public health departments, and especially online for all women of child bearing age.

What is gestational diabetes and how does it come about? Well, gestational diabetes often arises when women without previously determined diabetes display high glucose levels in their blood stream during pregnancy. This happened to pregnant women confirmed with gestational diabetes where they are not able to produce enough insulin for their bodies. When not enough insulin is available to convert the glucose in the blood stream into energy for the body, the glucose levels increase causing hyperglycemia. This can be a serious condition if it goes undiagnosed and untreated. The pregnant woman must seek for a correct prenatal care and her health care practitioner should be checking for glucose in the urine frequently, and sometimes perform a finger stick as well

Gestational diabetes may not be as serious as an insulin dependent diabetic going through pregnancy and delivery, but it can’t be ignored either. A proper diet is essential in controlling blood sugar levels in gestational diabetes, as well as regular exercise and keeping weight gained under control. These factors will all contribute to the birth of a healthy baby. According to www.diabetes.org, if a mother with gestational diabetes does not keep her blood glucose levels under control, the growing fetus will be demanded to make more insulin to process the extra blood glucose that is transferred to it via the placenta. The fetus has no real use for this extra energy so it is stored as fat. This extra fat can cause the infant to be large or macrosomic, which can lead to drawbacks during delivery, such as shoulder dystocia or dislocation. The infant can be so large that it must be delivered via Cesarean section because it is too large to pass through the birth canal. The newborn infant of the mother with gestational diabetes can also be prone to having low blood sugar values after birth, and must be monitored for signs of hypoglycemia. A macrosomic baby is also prone to obesity and might be potentially getting Type II diabetes later on in their adult life.

Gestational diabetes is a temporary condition arises during pregnancy but it involves an increased risk of getting diabetes for both mother and child. A cure for diabetes has not been found yet but gestational diabetes can be handled, and it doesn’t have to be an issue at all during pregnancy. Women are encouraged to check their blood sugar levels throughout the day and instructed to administer insulin if it is demanded. If women with gestational diabetes can keep their blood glucose levels under control, they are less likely to have drawbacks during the birth of their baby. Although most women do not continue to have high blood glucose levels after pregnancy, but some do go on to develop Type I or II diabetes later on in life. Gestational diabetes usually arises with subsequent pregnancies as well. If you are pregnant and have acquired gestational diabetes, it is very important that you keep your regular prenatal appointments and follow through with all advices made by your health care provider. It is all in the best benefit of you and your baby.

Asthma treatments come in many shapes and forms. People who sustain from the breathing disorder have quite a few alternatives to consider. Physicians can prescribe a number of medications that prove to be successful in lessening the indications related with the frightening sickness. However, the alternatives decline when the person looking for treatment is pregnant.

One of the most exciting times in a woman’s life is when she is expecting a baby. The mother goes through a lot of emotional and physical changes during this time in her life. Some of the physical changes are unexpected and uncomfortable. A woman can find herself sleepless, irritable and nauseous.

Having breathing problems on top of all of the other indications of pregnancy can really be a burden. Finding appropriate asthma treatments that can be administered during pregnancy can put the woman’s mind at ease. However, finding asthma treatments is not always so easy especially if you are pregnant.

Asthma is quite common in the United States and other countries around the world. Anyone who has suffered an asthma attack knows the indications. An intensification, or attack, involves coughing wheezing and the frightening feeling of being unable to get any air. Some describe an intensification as drowning in air. Asthma treatments are developed to alleviate the indications related with the attack.

Unfortunately, the developing baby in the womb takes in oxygen through his mother’s breathing. If the mother isn’t getting any air, neither is the fetus. The baby is dependant on the mother’s breathing to get the appropriate supply of oxygen he needs to survive. When a woman has an intensification, the baby is at risk for not getting enough oxygen. This can be very dangerous to the developing fetus.

Many women who used asthma treatments that involved medicinal drug before they became pregnant often cease using the asthma treatments once they are expecting. Women with the breathing disorder are afraid that the medicine will have an adverse effect on the baby. However, it is best to consult a physician before quitting the medicinal drug completely.

Your doctor needs to know the details about your condition and he needs to know if you select to quit asthma treatments. You could be putting the baby at greater risk by quitting the medicinal drug because a severe attack will do further harm to the fetus than the medicine can. The further severe the intensification, the further dangerous it is for the baby and suddenly stopping asthma treatments can do further harm than good.

Pregnancy is a whole body experience. After the baby is born, the mother’s body will undergo a lot of changes in order to go back to its usual normal and non-pregnant form. However, for a mother who is nursing her baby, it will take a longer period of time to do readjustment than one who is not. Still, always remember, it takes nine and a half months to be pregnant and to deliver, so at least it is fair that it should take the same amount of time to go back down to normal status!

The most fascinating thing about pregnancy is the way how it affects a woman’s hair. Hormones influence the whole body, including the hair. Which is why during the time of pregnancy, the hair becomes fuller. This happen because the follicles don’t release hair at the same account as when the body is not pregnant. You may have noticed that hair that was normally straight might suddenly begin to grow in curlier than ever during pregnancy. Or, hair that was curly may get straighter and straighter as pregnancy proceeds. So, hair loss during pregnancy is not very well-known, and hair will usually fall off less than when a woman is not pregnant.

However the condition will change after the baby is born as the extra hair will gently fall off. Hair loss after pregnancy will become more clear than it was before or during pregnancy. I know it can be dumbfounding to see such an increase in hair loss after pregnancy when you may find lumps of hair on the drain, or in your brush. However, you won’t see thin patches on your head so do not worry about it as the condition is normal. The process could take up to a year before the hair go back to its normal account of falling out, a few strands at a time.

Besides hair loss after pregnancy, a woman might notice changes in her nails. During pregnancy, nails become notably harder. Just as there is a normal amount of hair loss after pregnancy, the fingernails will also go back slowly to the way a woman had normally experienced them.

It is normal to experience hair loss when you are pregnant, due to a result of your hormones gently readjusting to their normal pre-pregnancy form. Hormones influence many parts of the body, including hair, nails, milk production, ovulation, moods, and menstruation. So, do not worry or be afraid if you notice hair loss after pregnancy. Things will gently go back to normal after child birth.

When I tried to question her, she gave me that ‘I know what is best for me and our baby’ look and effectively silenced me.

I mean how did it mattered what I wore as the baby could never see me of hope to be influenced by it. If I had a nagging hunch before that my wife was using the birth chart to gain control over my life, it was now ratified. And so, out went the birth chart and in came normality for us at this moment.

Not long ago, my wife and I had gone to visit a couple with whom we were regular bridge players. They had not long ago had a baby and our weekly bridge sessions had gone on a hiatus. Now, almost four months later, we were re-starting the session. Having tucked her baby to sleep, the mother came to the bridge table to join in the game with gusto. We were enjoying ourselves thoroughly when suddenly there was a high pitched noise of a child wailing. I was utterly surprised. Even as the mother rushed upstairs to check on her baby, I was left wondering if it was just me, or had we hear the baby wailing crystal clear from a considerable distance on a separate level of the house? Seeing my surprised and mystified expression, the husband broke into laughter and explained that it was the unusual effect of the new appliance they had gotten to keep an eye on their baby. It was what was known as a baby monitor.

Now, I too have a child. But the baby monitor we use is called a maid. And she is a very efficient one at that! But seriously, the only kind of baby monitor I had heard about or seen was the one in the infant’s ward of maternity hospitals. And even there, the monitor was only used to watch the vital signs of sick babies. Was there something I was missing, or perhaps, unable to see? Seemed like it, as the husband began to explain all about baby monitors. The baby monitor, according to him, was an indispensable two way radio that was commonly used to watch infants. Many parents have faced the problem of going about their household chores as the baby lies in another room, seemingly asleep. But they have often discovered that there’s a constant tussle between overseeing a baby and overseeing the chores. Choosing the chores over the baby leaves them feeling like they aren’t there when needed – whether for a nappy change, feeding time or just to pat the baby to sleep. And the problem remained till some innovative soul came up with a simple and effective baby monitor.

A normal baby monitor is a two part appliance. One part is the transmitter, that can be kept near the crib of the baby and the other part is a receiver that is carried around. This way, no matter where in the house you are, if your baby makes a noise, the baby monitor will let you know. Sounds simple right? One would wonders why nobody ever thought of it earlier. But it does get better. Newer version of baby monitors come with multiple receivers that can connect wirelessly with your existing sound system to keep you posted. And some of the technologically advanced baby monitors also come with an in-built camera for you to not just hear your baby, but to see it too. So even if it is moving around and not making a sound, you can still dash to comfort it. Some invention is this! I resolved then and there that although my first born was not observed all the time, I would guarantee that my next child would have the opportunity of growing up with a baby monitor.

If you need to better understand pregnancy, I recommend that you take few minutes to read what we have to say.

The signs of pregnancy may not be apparent in your appearance but there are many indications that provide clues that you could be expecting. Even if you are 1 month pregnant your body will tells you that there are significant changes happening. If you pay attention to your body you can find early signs of pregnancy.

The first interpretation is normally a missed period. This is the classic tell-tale indicate that you may be expecting. However, it is necessary to consider your cycle before purchasing maternity clothing. Some women are quite regular and can foretell the beginning of their cycle each month. These lucky few can tell when they are 1 month pregnant because they cycle on a consistent timeframe.

This is not the norm. Many women find themselves wondering if they are in store for a visit from the stork just about every month because they never know exactly when to expect their periods. There also may be implantation spotting as well. Many women mistake this as a very brief and very light period. They think that they are having a light cycle but they are actually about 1 month pregnant.

A missed period is not always the best way to determine whether or not you should go to the baby shower gift registry or not. Pregnancy manifests itself in a number of other ways even when you are just 1 month pregnant. Some are very subtle and some are quite obvious. The classic sign that a woman is expecting is morning sickness. It is important to remember that the nausea doesn’t always occur in the morning, in spite of the name.

Many women have reported a sudden dislike for drinks containing a lot of caffeine or alcohol. If you find yourself feeling queasy after taking a sip of your favorite adult beverage whether it is a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, then you may want to check with your local drugstore for a pregnancy test. The sudden dislike to adult beverages can occur when you are only 1 month pregnant, sometimes even sooner.

If you find yourself feeling faint or if you are craving sleep, then you could be 1 month pregnant. These symptoms occur very early on in the first trimester. Many women complain about tiredness during the final three months as well. Fatigue is a subtle symptom but it is a common tell-tale sign of pregnancy.

Other signs include tender breasts and moodiness. These symptoms alone may not make you run to the pharmacy for a test but you may want to consider taking one if they occur together. It isn’t always easy to tell when you are 1 month pregnant without a pregnancy test.

I hope this article provided you with the knowledge and understanding you were looking for.
