I just joined the site yesterday when I bought a 1988 b20-a5 .. the previous owner had it sitting for 3 years and I bought it from him for just 400 bucks..
Initial review.

Needed wheels, new battery, new oil pan..

Already has header, intake, full exhaust.

Looks like the rust on it isnt bad and when sanded down and repainted everything should be good to go.

Im looking to turbo this baby and if the engine blows well Ill do a swap :)

Hopefully it doesnt blow and if anyone has some suggestions let me know. I am going to start slow with 5 psi and go from there.

SO i finally was able to get the "important"...

SO i finally was able to get the "important" things together on my lude.
Heres a small story as to why im doing this swap.
Stock engine was sitting at 230k hard miles and one day the crank pulley bolt decides it doesnt want to be with me anymore and goes its own way.
needless to say i had an AWWWFULL noise because of this. well one day i decide to look at whats up and i notice all my belts are loose. so im like wtf. i also noticed that when i moved my belts my pulley moved too. so i check and notice the pulley bolt was gone. at that point i already had another engine it just needed gone through, aka gaskets and small stuff. So i thought. well i said eff it and drove the lude to the work area (about 4-5 miles) to park it till the new heart.

well the whole process went well. made the bay look awesome engine and tranny along with a battery relocate. well then i noticed smoke out the exhaust. was like well whatever maybe some gaskets or seals did seal right away.

shortly after i realized i was going through about a quart of oil every 400 miles or so from BURNING. decided to do a compression test, failed miserably. dry 150 all the way across. wet, all but one went up to 180 give or take 5psi. well cyl 3 didnt budge in compression. thats when i knew that the new engine i put in was dead before i installed it.

so thats when i came to the conclusion of a swap since rebuilding the bastard b was not gunna be cost effective. couldnt afford a h swap. not gunna lie i would put one in if i could find a good deal. (never found one) what i did find though was a f22a1 that had been rebuilt and had the new rings installed wrong. got it for 150 bucks.

and now im here tearing apart my lude for the third new (and all new this time) heart.

so this is how it looked right after the new engine.

for the paint people, custom painted v/c that i did myself and most likely gunna do something similar on my next one.

now enough with the old stuff and onto the new stuff.

my work area (single car garage with my car and 1 07 klr 650 and 1 84 honda vf700f)

This is my new Prelude S.
Image:...

This is my new Prelude S.

It came to me with 330,00 km, a couple of weeks ago. I had intentions to buy a Wagovan or a 3g Accord, but fell in love with the lude when I drove it. This thing makes my old Integra feel boring!

It's a really nice dark blue that looks black in pictures. The color is growing on me fast. Very classy.

I don't plan on changing anything major. Don't think of this as a build thread per se, but a way for me to record my progress as I gradually refine the car and make it my perfect daily driver. I just want some motivation to do all the stuff I say I want to!

I won't do anything that changes the character of the car. I also won't be spending much money. This means: no turbo, ever. Probably no power mods, would rather keep my fuel economy. No significant lowering - that's what Jettas are for (also, I like camping & mountain biking). No big wheels, nothing attention-getting. Subtlety.

What I've done so far...
•Removed armrest
•New wiper blades- 1st priority around here
•Silverstar headlights
•ASA wheels, found on CL for $80, painted for the previous car. Conti winter tires. You won't believe it based on the picture, but two weeks ago we had near-blizzard conditions.
•JVC stereo with iPod input.
•Unplugged antenna
•Cleaned all glass thoroughly- best time investment yet.

Next up...
•RainX on mirrors - a good tip for rainy climates
•A good interior cleanup
•Antenna delete
•Replace blown out door speakers. I dread pulling door panels. Apparently the PO did too, because there are good speakers in the back.
•Shave badges (except H) and spoiler. Already picked up a spare trunklid to learn on. I don't know how to weld so I'm thinkin' fiberglass?

Eventually...
•Convert foglights to DRLs
•Restore/refinish my fat fives for summer wheels
•Roof rack for my bike
•New shift boot
•Clean SR/Si seats if I can find em (S seats don't have the adjustable lumbar support and bolsters)
•Replace or restore fenders

Four Hondas at my place right now!

The storage unit. I'm not sure it's big enough.

Depending on engine health and the exact parasitic loss of the SportShift, WHP should be right around 325, even if I can make more, I’ll tune it down to this level (or lower) for engine durability (after dyno proof, of course). Kyleb1115 would be making close to these numbers if he started running e85; but my airflow will be significantly more efficient, my IATs will be lower, and my tune should be better as I’ll have all the time in the world to get it perfect.

The car will be street tuned by me. Virtual Dyno will be used for relative WHP numbers. When I’m happy with my tune, I’ll take her to a real dyno. As e85 is extremely forgiving, there is no risk to stock internals during my learning process.

If my engine is found to be too unhealthy to support stage 1; the pistons, rods, and bearings from Stage 2 will be installed. This will unfortunately push the start date out a bit. She pulls pretty hard right now, but only a compression/leak down will tell.

If any of the above seems crazy to you I strongly suggest you read my research thread—thoroughly—before telling me this can’t happen or that I’m doing it wrong.

Here’s a glimpse into the future:

Stage 2
2-3x Laminova Cores Installed in Rosko Racing IM: $300-$500 + Fabrication Cost
1x Fluidampr Crank Pulley: $400
1x Set of Timing Belt Pulleys to Achieve a Range of 12psi to 18psi for Experimental Purposes: $100 (Thanks jonbar!)
4x Mahle Gold 11.5:1 87mm Bore Pistons: $500
4x SwainTech GoldCoat Coating: $200
4x Eagle Rods: $600
4x ACL Bearings: $70
1x 5spd Swap: $2000
1x 340 lph Fuel Pump: $160
4x ID 2000cc Injectors: $800
New Engine Management if Deemed Advantageous
Expected WHP: 375+

Stage 3 (happens if I feel like it several years from now):
1x H23VTEC
Full Endyn Head Porting and Valvetrain: $1500
Forged Internals with Max Compression Before Detonation Endyn Rollerwave Pistons: $700
Max Efficient Boost Cog Pulleys
Gator Racing Axels
1x Albins Helical Synchro Gearset
Expected WHP: 450+

Stage 4 (probably never, but we can dream, can’t we?):
Rear Wheel Drive Mid-Engine Relocation
OR
Dual Engine All Wheel Drive
OR
Tri-Engine All Wheel Drive With new NSX Drivetrain in the Front

Things like transmission cooler, suspension, bushings, motor mounts, shoes, brakes, paint, body kit, roll bar, weight reduction etc. will happen as I can afford them, but not before I have a garage. Please feel free to ask any questions or make any objections not already covered in my research thread.

This is my first prelude, i haven't gotten too...

This is my first prelude, i haven't gotten too far on my build but i figure it's better to start early so i don't lose track.
So, i bought the car on June 13 2011 for 6k flat with 102k miles, 5 speed, NBP base model.

6-13-11 - at the sellers house

6-15-11 - the car is now mine, brought it home washed and waxed her :)

7-11-11 - finished up some little touches, sun strip to acompany the tint, put the blades on the right way around, tinted side markers, led parking lights, cleared tail lights, tinted license plate covers etc...

11-21-11 - Bought an AEM V2 intake from Andrew025, installed it.

12-8-11 - My neighbor decided to back into my car and wreck the bumper, headlight, and fender :(

12-25-11 - His insurance covered everything and i got it all straightened out, new bumper, fender, and a pair of Depo black housing headlights, also threw in some Nokya hyper yellow high beams at this time.

1-23-12 - finally installed the Thule roof rack that i've had sitting around for weeks...

future plans are pretty simple, a drop on F&f type ones, some gunmettal/chromium black wheels somewhere around the 17x8 +30 range, new sound system, more bolt on mods, complete the OEM lip kit, and some other shit. in no particular order!

> DIY Check Engine Light switch to more conveniently run trouble codes

Future Plans:
Very long-term project here.

I have an extensive list of specific parts I want in order to make this my perfect car, but the gist of the final product will be a very reliably built engine with modest horsepower (roughly 250 at the wheels) backed by very thorough upgrades in the car's handling - I'm not so much into drag racing, the corners are where it's at for me. Inside, the car will be comfortable for both driver and passengers for daily commute duties, as well as the occasional long road trip - I quite literally want to travel the country with this thing. As far as exterior appearances go, I'm keeping it pretty clean. It definitely won't be a sleeper, but I want a subtle yet aggressive look.

A few of the dream parts: CL7 Accord Euro-R front & rear Recaro seats, Spoon calipers, Jackson Racing supercharger. Wheel whorage: SW388s, RPF1s, '06 Acura TLs.

Current Goals:
1 JDM one-piece headlights
2 Maintenance (rotors, pads/shoes, wheel bearings, tires, axles, ball joints, and a windshield)
3 Spoon-style front lip
4 Buy a 92-93 LX coupe with a manual transmission & move everything over
5 Begin collecting parts for 5-lug swap/final brake setup/Enkei RPF1s

Yes, I'm trying to de-rice the engine bay. Don't know what I was thinking with all that blue.
