It is an age-old recipe prepared and used by Indian mothers for centuries to take care of their children and their own as well. Ubtan is used to cleanse and care for the body and face skin naturally. An easy recipe ubtan can be found in every Indian home. Whether young children or adults, everyone can take care of their skin using such pure herbal ubtan.

10 gram of Patanjali Body Ubtan contains the following things. English and Hindi names along with the quantity used.

Buchanania Lanzan - Chironji/Charoli (fruit) = 0.5g

Red Lentil - Masur dal (fruit) = 1.7g

Black Lentil - Urad dal (fruit) = 1.7g

Is Patanjali Body Ubtan suitable for all skin types:

Well, the ingredient list of Patanjali Ubtan shows a good range of skin-caring herbal things in it. Still, it may not be ideal for all skin types. Many people find it developing a burning/pinching sensation while applied. Looking at the ingredients I feel the active ingredients turmeric and camphor may be the reason for such a burning sensation.

Though turmeric has many health benefits on skin and body when used both externally and internally, it may not be skin-friendly for all. People having sensitive skin that develops redness, burning sensation, and skin darkening while wet turmeric paste is applied on the skin during bath. Like turmeric, camphor is also not suitable on all skin.

Is Patanjali Body Ubtan applicable on the face:

I don't think so. The name “Body Ubtan” may (not sure) suggest being applied to body skin only. Only the manufacturer can confirm it. But what I found, I don't have sensitive skin, still, while I applied this ubtan on my face, I experienced a mild burning sensation. It may be severe for those who have sensitive skin.

If experienced so, please avoid using Patanjali Body Ubtan on the face. If your body skin also reacts to this ubtan, then stop using on body skin also. As I told turmeric and camphor are not ideal for all skins. One can make a simple ubtan at home as well, I explained it later in this content.

Changes noticed after a year : It's important to let my readers know that I am sharing my experience after around a year, the new Patanjali Ubtan packs I bought, the powder is not irritating on facial skin with the same ingredients. It is truly a good news for me. Because the only demerit I found in Patanjali Ubtan was it creates slightly pinching or burning sensation on facial skin if applied. Still sensitive skin people can only tell if they feel all right on face even. For me it's totally fantastic now.

Who should use and who should avoid Patanjali body ubtan and why:

Simple. Try it once. If it suits your skin, definitely go for it. Because Patanjali Ubtan has many useful ingredients to care for your skin. If it does not suit, stop using it. If you know your skin is sensitive or you have a reactive skin to turmeric, better don't try Patanjali Body Ubtan.

When and how to use Patanjali ubtan to get maximum benefit:

According to the company's instruction, add water as required to 20-30 gm of ubtan. Apply on the skin during bath. Then rinse off with water.

But for better results add rose water instead of normal tap water. Take 2 tablespoons of ubtan in a bowl and add 3 tablespoons of rose water. You may need more or less the amount mentioned. There is no specific rule for it. Make a smooth paste. It is important to let the paste as it is for some time. Letting it rest for 3-5 minutes makes the paste smooth to be applied on body skin. Massage on wet body skin and face(if suits) gently. Don't rub it harshly. The granule/particles of this ubtan act like a scrubber on the skin surface. Massaging the ubtan smoothly exfoliates the body's skin and deep cleanses. Keep it to rest on the skin for another few minutes if possible. Then rinse off with tap water.

Right after the bath, you will notice a smooth, supple, bright (turmeric leaves a light yellowish layer), well-hydrated skin instantly. It keeps the skin the same throughout the day.

You can use ubtan twice or thrice in a week.

Can Patanjali Ubtan be used daily:

Yes, if one wishes so. Firstly, A pure herbal product has no-harm on your skin. Patanjali Ubtan is not a smooth powder, it is rather rough. It works like a scrubber on the skin surface. Scrubber shouldn't be used daily. Twice or thrice a week is all right. Secondly, we are habituated with those foaming soaps and shower gels with fine fragrances. Can we continue with ubtan with no foam and mild natural fragrance for everyday use !! It depends on one's choice.

So, with one's care and choice, Patanjali Ubtan can be used daily.

Why rose water is preferable over normal water:

Rosewater is a natural toner. Toner is used to deep clean the skin to remove any traces of dirt. Toner is useful when skin pores are left open by using a scrubber. So when the granules of ubtan act like a scrubber on the skin surface, rose water as a toner helps to tighten the skin naturally. So better go for rose water rather than normal tap water. The aroma of rose water also enhances the fragrance of ubtan. Rosewater leaves your skin smooth, supple, and well hydrated.

Patanjali Body Ubtan for dry and oily skin:

Skin can be dry, oily, or combination type. It is due to genetic or weather conditions. You might have experienced skin that can be dry or oily according to the weather also opposite to your skin type.

If experience dry skin, add milk instead of rose water to the ubtan. You can add milk cream instead of milk for further miniaturization.

For oily skin or if you experience oily skin for some reason, just add rose water to ubtan.

As I told you earlier, ubtan is an age-old recipe in India. Every Indian mother is aware of it. The recipe can be different- simple or complex. My mother is also used to make a simple recipe ubtan for me. I feel that is a super easy and effective quick ubtan recipe that would suit every skin type. It is prepared by taking some simple things to get mixed to make an ubtan if Patanjali body ubtan does not suit. Take equal quantities of Chana dal (Bengal gram), Urad dal (Black gram), and rice. Grind the mixture. Preferably make a rough powder. Keep it in an air-tight bottle. when required take a little amount of this ubtan, add rosewater, and use it during baths.

Pros and Cons of Patanjali Body Ubtan:

Pros:

The pure herbal product ensures safe use on the skin.
A good combination of various natural things that can be complicated to make at home at the right proportion.
The fragrance of camphor is pleasant and refreshing.
Ubtan is in powdered form ensures less chance to get spoiled. Patanjali body ubtan comes with one-year expiry.
It is cost-efficient.
Effects can be seen with the regular use of ubtan.

Cons:

The ingredient turmeric and camphor may not suit everybody.
The packaging is not attractive.
It needs to be emptied in an air-tight container after opening to retain its aroma and self-life.

The bottom line is Patanjali Body Ubtan is a pure 100% herbal product that is far better than the harmful chemically made soaps and body washes. It is a good body cleanser and scrubber that exfoliates and deep cleanses the body skin. We are habituated with foamy soaps and gels. Hence, might not get familiar with such ubtan. Otherwise, such powdered body cleansers are truly beneficial for the skin.

It is not acceptable by vegetarians, vegans, and many people who have strong faith in religion, and people who adhere to nonviolence even. Being an Indian I know it very well, most of the non-vegetarians in the Hindu religion never eat beef (cow meat) and most of the non-vegetarians from Islam never eat pork (pig meat) for sure. It is known that bamboo is the tallest and hard-enough (harder than many kinds of wood) grass from which a wide variety of things are made. If possible, use only one side of the cutting board first. Later you can use the other side for a newer experience. For this, you can make a small mark at any corner of one side with any non-toxic thing to identify.

Other wooden chopping boards may be costlier but plastic chopping boards can easily be replaced by Bamboo Chopping Boards. My story – What made me think about getting treated :

Some hair care tips I learned with time :

Don’t wash hair. Aim to clean the scalp. Apply shampoo on the scalp, make a firm leather, just move down the leather on the lengths of the hair. That is enough to cleanse the hair.
Don’t comb hair when it is wet. Wet hair is more prone to breakage.
Avoid plastic combs and brushes. These develop electric charges during friction with hair strands that dry up hair and make them brittle.

It means the soft metal, aluminum from the aluminum cookware leaches into your food while you cook in it. This metal is highly reactive to acidic foods such as tomatoes, citrus, etc. Excess Aluminum accumulates in your body over time, undermines health, and causes severe health hazards. 5) Hard anodized Cookware: It is just an improved hardened version of aluminum that may minimize metal leaching. But yes there is no surety on "no aluminum leaching". There is not enough study proving no metal leaching to food while cooking in hard anodized cookware. Again it can not be the safest option.

6) Stainless steel Cookware: Stainless steel cookware is good for cooking as steel is a strong metal, doesn't leach into food easily, if you care a bit while using. Like all glitters are not gold, all shining steel doesn't come in healthy stainless steel category. The important thing is to consider while making a stainless steel cookware purchase is: it must have the chromium and nickel metal in the right proportion. Here the quality of the steel might be a concern. Many stainless steel cookwares and utensils have an excess amount of nickel to provide them an extra shine. If such, nickel leaches into your food in high heat and makes it highly toxic.

7) Cast iron cookware: Cast iron cookware is better for cooking. But it needs good maintenance. After cleaning, you must keep it with a coat of some high smoke oil (like coconut oil) to avoid rusting. 11) Glass cookware: Glass cookware doesn't leach anything to food. It is non-reactive. Glass cookware is completely safe for microwave cooking. One should handle these with care as these are fragile. Glass cookware is only meant for microwave cooking.

Cons :

It contains light liquid paraffin as a base material. Some studies say liquid paraffin is used to keep skin soft and smooth but it may have adverse effect on skin.

Therefore, Jac Olivol is a mixture of several herbal extracts and natural oils, having olive oil also but not as the main ingredient. But it contains Arachis oil more in proportion which is also a good moisturizer and effective on dry skin. And one should not ignore the base material, liquid paraffin. This combination only makes Jac Olivol quick absorbent and lightweight on the skin.

And yes, Jac Olivol is a moisturizing body oil. So please avoid it applying on face or hair.

How To Use A Menstrual Cup :

Insertion of M-Cup :

1) For every menstrual cycle, sterilize the cup by boiling it in bubbling hot boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes before use.

2) Wash your hands nice. Fold the cup as shown in the images below. Bring the walls of the cup together, make U-shape to make the cup easiest to insert into the vagina. You may try different folds to find your kind of easier insertion.

3) To insert the cup you must be in a comfortable position. You may find any one of the 3 positions comfortable, mentioned below.
a) At toilet-sitting position.
b) Standing with a leg resting upon a short height table or tub or something like that.
c) At squatting or crouching position. Most women find it easier to insert the menstrual cup into the vagina at this position.

4) Relax your pelvic muscles. At the very first attempt, you really find it hard to do so as many women do. But relax after a failed attempt then try it again.

5) Fold the cup as shown in the image above, holding the cup’s stem facing downward. Insert it into the vaginal opening in an angled direction (as the path goes a bit angular not exactly vertical). Then slide it inward. It will go inside and pop open. Ensure that it is positioned correctly and opened fully. Tap the lower part of the cup to open its rim if not opened. The menstrual cup comes in different sizes (Small, Medium, Large) by different brands. Choose the cup according to your vaginal length. Vaginal length varies from one woman to another. You may check the length by following the step mentioned below. But the size of the cup doesn't matter much. As it accommodates the space according to the inner body structure.

How to Check Your Size :

To check the length insert your forefinger into the vagina. If it goes full length to touch a fingertip like structure (cervix) then go for Medium size. Removal of M-Cup :

To remove the cup first just relax. Don't be stressed about not getting the stem, lost of the menstrual cup inside. You can see clearly in the image above showing our internal body structure where the cup can not be lost. So just relax, squat on the floor, preferably in the washroom as blood may spill out of the cup while removing. Keep on pushing your muscles to reach the stem of the cup. Hold the stem tight, by pinching the lower part of the cup pull it outward. You can also pull the cup by rotating it slightly.

It doesn't come out until you pull it hard, as it fits well inside. You can do all your work without any difficulty. It won't come out. If you are a sports personality or having much physical activity then go for a hard menstrual cup and women doing general activities should go for a soft menstrual cup.

Demerits / Cons :

If it is not placed properly or emptied at regular intervals, it would leak a little. So it is important to ensure whether a menstrual cup is properly placed.

Both Wok (Kadai) and Tope (Tasra) from Bergner Argent Triply - series are quite heavy and are made of high-quality food-grade stainless steel. Both are thicker at their bottom/base. Thickness gets slightly thinner towards the top of the cookware. This is a wise thing to maintain weight and simultaneously make it convenient for use. Maximum thickness at the base ensures non-sticking of food at the bottom surface while cooking.

The name tri-ply suggests 3 layers. The inner body is 18/10 stainless steel indicates a chromium-nickel ratio, where the metal, nickel is present in a lesser amount than chromium. It can be considered as a healthier option to choose. The middle layer is made up of aluminum that helps to be get heated quickly and even heat distribution. The third outermost layer is 18/0 stainless steel that is induction friendly.
The outer layer is mirror finish while the inner layer is a satin finish.

Bergner Kadai after 2 years of extreme use

Sizes come with 18cm(1.3litre), 20cm(1.5 litre), 22cm(2litre), 24cm(2.5litre), 26cm(3.9litre), 32cm(5.8 litre), 36cm(6.1 litre). Roughly 24cm size kadai is suitable for a family of 4 individuals. Different sizes allow you to choose your required size from a good range.
Its lid is also made up of stainless steel that retains heat and moisture in the meal better.
Requires less oil to cook food. So it provides healthy cooking.
Because of its heavy quality food does not stick on its surface, unlike other steel cookware.
Unlike an aluminum kadai, it won't absorb oil. You can try a test if you are using aluminum kadai. After cooking and cleaning an aluminum kadai, pour some hot water in it. You may notice traces of oil floating in the water. It proves that the soft metal aluminum absorbs some amount of oil. The strong metal of Bergner steel kadai doesn't absorb oil.
It can be used on a gas stove, electric, and induction cooktop.
It is dishwasher safe.
Easy to handle. It doesn’t need much effort to clean and maintain.

Use and Tips :

You can use it similarly to an aluminum vessel.
As compared to an aluminum kadai it requires less oil to cook food but requires more oil as compared to non-stick cookware.
To prepare dry dishes like vegetable fry, before cooking, just brush the kadai with a little oil. Keeping the gas flame low (at low temperature in induction) leave the kadai for 3 to 4 minutes. Then start cooking. You will need very little oil to get your vegetables fried well.
Cook your food on medium to low flame for long. Actually, this is an ideal and healthy way to cook food. An important thing to follow.
While preparing dry dishes with less oil, what I found, after cooking is 70% done, turn off the stove (stop cooking) and leave it for 10 minutes. The rest will be done automatically due to the heat retention in kadai.
For cleaning, sprinkle some water on it, leave it for some time then simply clean it with the help of a scrubber using your regular dishwasher bar/gel. Don’t use any metal scrubber to avoid scratches.
You can use metal spatulas also. But what I found, wooden spatulas also work well on it. Then why don't wooden spatulas !! It minimizes scratch on its inner surface.

Cons :

Handles get nominally heated. But in summer while temperature goes above 35-degree Celsius you may need a piece of cloth or such stuff to hold it.

Bergner Argent Tri-ply Stainless Steel Kadai is a fine product at its price. Though this Kadai comes with 5 years warranty. I am sure it will last for decades considering its quality. People say everything gets easily stuck to the surface of steel kadai if used to fry vegetables dry or such. But the high quality and thickness of the kadai won't let anything stick at the bottom of the kadai easily. You won’t face any hassle using it. Overall, it is worth buying steel kadai/wok for everyday use.
