Let me preface this post by saying editing is NOT my forte. I struggle with it in designing collections, dressing, and culling images, etc. So when I got all the beautiful images back from a mentor session by Trent and Ari, I couldn’t narrow it down to just a few of my favorites.

I loved styling this winter shoot in and around our neighborhood for Trent and Ari.  Of course I included two of my new Fall hat styles and one of my new bowties. More images from our most recent e-commerce shoot to come very soon.

Okay, okay. You have to be living under a rock (literally) not to have at least heard of Downton Abby. I have to admit I only recently watched the first two seasons in less than a week  got caught up to speed on all things Downton, and now totally understand all the hype I’ve been hearing for over a year. Trent and I just finished season 3, and I can’t wait for the next season.

On one cold January (inspiration) Wednesday, Trent and I made a trip up to Lincoln Center to see an exhibit on one of my all time favorite style icons and the most honored actress in the history of American film, Katharine Hepburn. The exhibit was Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen.

All of the costumes in this exhibit were from Katharine’s personal collection she stored in her home in New York. In accordance to her wishes, the collection of these costumes was to be given at the discretion of her estate executors to an educational institution, and is now housed at the Kent State University Museum in Ohio.

The image above on the right is probably my favorite image ever captured of her. I don’t know why, but I love everything about it… the way she’s dressed, her look, the way she’s sitting… I love it.

More than thirty pairs of pants are now in the Kent State Museum Collection. (and I want them all!)

This pair reminds me of one of my senior projects. I love a good pair of jodhpurs!

I just love this little straw boater! I love the veil, but time has not treated it well, and it no longer hangs down like it did in the image above.

I love these dresses and the laced used for all the detail.

 Here’s a look back at a beautiful fashion shoot Trent did in our beloved Central Park last spring with styling from Jackie Weppner of Merci New York. It’s so gorgeous. The handsome Billy Reid suit, the breathtaking Jenny Packham dress, the perfect hair & makeup all paired with the lush florals, P&O bowties and a lovely floral halo came together perfectly through Trent’s lens on this spring day in the city.

Out with the old and in with the new…I did a major overhaul on my workspace. My cabinet storage unit was full of piles of fabrics that weren’t being used, and my desk was piled high with hat blocks, books, magazines, and bags of ribbons and trims. I didn’t have any room to use for actual work at my desk. Though once I do actually begin working, my entire work area some how ends up taking over my space, Trent’s work area, then migrates to the living room, and finally ends up all over the kitchen counter, I do like to have a fresh clean slate to before diving into new projects.

I took a few trips to cb2 (for some more aesthetically pleasing organizational pieces) and The Home Depot. After an entire day spent organizing and decluttering, I’m more in love with my little space than ever.

Now let the designing begin! (can’t wait to share more on that very soon)

It’s like the calm before the storm! It’s all peaceful and organized.

The Rifle Paper Co. calendar Trent gave me for Christmas. 

My main goal has always been to make my space inspirational and functional. I love these little bud vases from cb2. They hang perfectly on my peg board. Check em out here and here. And just recently, I discovered these that I decided were perfect for my air plants. And for when I have to make calls, I have this little fella

My “inspiration” board. Thanks to Pinterest, I haven’t truly used it as a working mood board in quite some time. It’s become more of a collage of images I love. 

My favorite part of my desk… it’s so nice to have these threads and wires off my desk but still easily accessible. 

 Okay, second favorite new organized area… I used to have all of my pens, pencils, and markers loose in the bottom of drawers, and all over the place, really. Then I found these puppies, and they changed my work life!

Ta-da!  

Oh, and I even made a little spot for these eraser friends, because they bring back memories of hours spent drawing for my portfolio, and just because they’re too darn cute not to be on display.

 These new Bridal Shoppe pieces are some of my favorites yet! And of course, Trent captured exactly what I initially envisioned while creating the pieces for this collection.  I love taking simple bridal styles and adding color to make them pop even more. I hope you enjoy.
