Yes after a nice Sunday at the Bluegrass Festival what better to do than look for a little morning inspiration. The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival here in SF is one of the Bay Area festivals and I think yesterday was full of what will be some of my favorite memories. Too bad I am having such a hard time getting out of bed today.
If I knew how to translate the sinister cackle of a mad scientist overjoyed by his/her new discovery then that would be this post's title. I tried for a while then in the decision to not completely embarrass myself, i gave up. Any suggestions? Anywho, I am pretty sure that was the sound coming out of Cat Ivins studio when she came up with the idea of re-purposing wine corks and recycled steel into clever jewelry. Printed with fun, quirky illustrations, her line is made from ecologically harvested cork grown in managed forests in Portugal and Spain, ensuring undamaged forests (again, insert sound clip of mad scientist laughter). Almost time to pull out the wool coats. Oh what, you mean the one I have been wearing all summer in San Francisco? No just kidding, this summer was pretty darn warm. Scary almost. This is my favorite time in the Bay Area Indian summer and instead of the looming fear I would feel throughout the fall months in New York, I am filled with relief. January, February - not sooo bad. Instead of the endless searching for a fashionable yet super duper warm winter coat, I know I'll be fine in a short much more comfortable wool blend stylish little number (like this gorgeous coat by Little Houses). I love that the collar can be worn up for the chilly walks through Golden Gate or down for the sunny days in the Mission. Has to be adjustable for the micro climates of our lovely city. Sadly, this incredible coat is not available in the pretty fabric you see here but there are three other fun blends to choose from.
I have been working on a new line of jewelry and I wanted to share with you the colors that have been inspiring me. It's safe to say that you'll see some watery blues and greens and subdued greys at my next show. Oh yeah, that will be the Capsule Street Festival Oct 19. Don't worry I'll be sure to remind you!

I love that my fascination for pretty, shiny bugs completely freaks my Mother out. It starts with the initial "you hated bugs when you were little" and ends with "you are so like your Father." At the age of 35, it stills gives me a little quiet joy when Mom shakes her head in absolute confusion. I just like to entertain you Mom! And yes, I remember that during my recent visit to the Midwest after discovering the locusts hanging from the screen door, I shrieked like a child. But those things are down right scary, vile little critters and I swear they like to nibble on the little ones. So yep, I was just protecting the niece and nephew. Nope, wasn't scared at all.....
