Power and Dominian!

I don’t know if we actually fully understand or grasp the power that we have with God the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit on our side. As I begin to read the book of Acts….it is such a clear picture of walking in authority and not just letting life’s circumstances lead our emotions, thoughts, actions, etc. Paul is such an incredible example of walking in the authority that Christ gives. So here an ordinary man who literally has gone from speaking again Christ and Christianity as a whole….wanting nothing to do with Jesus and wanting no one else to have any part of the Lord….to dedicating his life to spreading the Gospel. WOW!! How that for transformation! After 1 encounter with the Lord Paul knew that Jesus was REAL! And he know that his life’s mission was from that point forward going to be getting the freeing message of the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ out to the world! He was a force to be reckoned with! There was no one or any life circumstance, even death that was going to stop Paul.

We have that same authority and power. Stop looking at leaders in the Bible and the spiritual authority that they had and just wish you could be like that. You ARE like that! You are a child of the most high God and you have that same power and authority. It’s just a matter of walking in faith and letting the Lord lead and guide you.

Stop allowing life’s circumstances to lead and guide the direction of your life. Begin to walk in the power and authority that is given to you through Jesus!

What’s our TEST in the Test-imony?

As I continue to meet people in my life and get to know them intimately…I hear so many stories of people just being broken at some point in their life. Part of me questions why people have to go through things like abuse, addiction, neglect, etc….but then I was enlightened by God yesterday in my thoughts….its because our test in our testimony is going to be used to free others. I remember going to counseling as a child when my parents got divorced and one of the first things I asked the counselor was….have you ever been through this with your parents? The moment he answered NO…I immediately checked out! I just felt like he could NEVER relate to my feelings of abandonment, hurt, confusion, etc. My point in saying that is we all have our story and we have two choices of what to do with that story. One, we can bottle it up for the rest of our lives….never be set free of it and just become bitter or two, we can use it to set others free by sharing it and being free’d of it all. What you have been through and what I have been through may be similar in ways but the uniqueness of our lives will be able to set other people free. So please….do just that. Be open and willing for God to put people in your path that need to hear your story so they can experience freedom in their lives while you con’t to heal from yours.

You were created for EXCELLENCE!!!

So I have been thinking about the difference between how people view themselves in comparison to how God views us. To say they are different is quiet the understatement. The world is almost set up to have us sell short of the excellence God has in store of us. Think about this with me…..so we start off as innocent children with HUGE dreams, aspirations, goals, desires, etc….and somewhere along the line we either convince ourselves or let the world convince us that mediocre/status que is good enough and that all of those dreams and desires as a child are just that….childish! Never going to happen! Well, you know what….I AINT GONNA STAND FOR THAT!!!! God, absolutely created us for excellence and nothing short of that. Where do you think those dreams and passions came from??? HIM! So DO NOT let this world steal those away from you and allow you to think for one more second that you were not created for excellence and greatness.

Jeremiah 29:11 ” For I KNOW the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Walk in that! Do not let the world, your past, your present circumstance, your family, society, your friends, or anything else steal those from you one more second! You were absolutely created to do amazing things!! That’s why I love the picture that we are “the body of Christ.” It just shows that we ALL have a place and a role…and to do it with EXCELLENCE!

Living Simple

So lately I have really worked on living very simply. Not as though my life was extravagant by any means but just learning to live with less has been awesome. I have realized that the less I have the less I want for. Not feeling like I must have the best of the best or more of everything. The less “stuff” I have…the more I can see how blessed I truly am. Everything else is simply distractions from what really matters in life…family, friends, my relationship with the Lord and living out His will for my life, etc.

On the flip side the more I’ve had, the more I want! It’s like you can never keep up or have enough “stuff” cause you always “need” or “want” for more. Before you know it…you are so drowned in “stuff” that you can’t see clearly at all of your blessings.

I am so blessed and I’m sure if you take a moment to pause and reflect….you will realized how blessed you are as well. Hope this made sense It did in my head….just hope it translated well on paper….LOL!

Living out Your Destiny

I believe that so much of us chase after the wrong things in our lives…money, power, position, etc…but we are never fulfilled! It’s like any drug…the more you get,the more you want/need! Why don’t we change that drive to chasing after our God-given destiny? You know that thing or gift that you naturally have that is in the core of who you are! There is nothing more fulfilling, energizing, exciting, etc than doing exactly what you know you were called to do. That for me was founding Pride in the Truth. I’m sure many of you already know my story but for those who havent heard it….in short…I grew up in a fundamentalist Christian home scared out of my mind to come out to my family and friends because I knew that would = loosing my role in the church, and possibly my friends and family. And as I had been raised that would also mean loosing my relationship with Jesus. As I re-educated myself on what the Bible says, I now know that is not true by any stretch of the imagination! So my God-given destiny is to get out in the world and share that same freedom with my community and beyond. Now it is your turn…follow your God-given destiny because I’m telling you from experience…there is NOTHING more fulfilling then that! Lots of love!

So this morning I woke up and listened to a little Joyce Meyers. The scripture that she read from was Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. It just made me start thinking about how our society is so based on instant gratification and that some things in life will not pan out that way. It is not an opportunity to get frustrated and start playing the poor me game…its an opportunity to continue to prepare yourself for bigger and greater things. God will promote us ALL when we are READY! It also cause me to reflect on so many areas of my life that I planned for it to go a certain way and I was ticked when it didn’t…but when all was said and done….it ended up better than I could have imagined. That’s how awesome God is! He is BIGGER and BETTER than our little imagination can grasp. So hang in there….it’s coming in due time!

Sweet Halloween!

So Friday night before the crazy block party for Halloween on Cedar Springs we went out there simply to share some love with our community. I guess it just continues to shock me how powerful giving out some free hugs and letting people know “God loves and accepts you….and so do we” is. Because the sad reality is most of the time the “Christian” groups that are on the strip are screaming “God hates fags” and/or “You are a sinner and going to hell!” NOT US! We are just the opposite….wanting to let our community know that they have the same opportunity to have a relationship with God as the next person. This is just the beginning of a movement that is going to shake up the world….including the fundamentalist Christians. We love you ALL so much and we are exciting to see how we can change this world together!!!

Being who you are…not who others want you to be!

So last night before I went to bed I decided I wanted to see what went down when Jennifer Knapp “came out.” For those of you who do not know her, shes a very famous, award winning Christian artist who I grew up listening to. So I pull the Larry King live interview and just watch how she holds herself, responds to a pastor condeming her “chosen lifestyle”, explains who she really is….and I was just blown away! She didn’t lash out in hate or anger..she just kept her cool and responded with confidence and love in who she is and always has been. She simply explained how the commonly mis-used scriptures did not condemn who she is or who she chooses to spend her life with. What a great example!

Here’s a girl who’s “got it all!” And by disclosing one aspect of her life….risks loosing it all for the freedom of being who God created her to be. She is such a great example of being who she is and not what other people want her to be. So I encourage you…do the same! The bottom line is…you are precious to God NO MATTER WHAT! So love youself and be you to the fullest!

ALL things God works for GOOD….

So I’ve been thinking the last couple of days about this idea of all things working out for the good. It’s funny how some times this myth about Christianity goes around like….the moment you ask Jesus in your heart, you will no longer have any problems. Or that things will never be difficult. Well, I am here to share with you that being a Christian does not take away the difficult times or problems in your life…it simply gives you an anchor to sustain you in life.

This last week has been pretty difficult in the scheme of life but just like everyone says, “it’s ALL GOOD!” It started with a call from my wife’s sister saying her dad was in the hospital with a possible stroke and for us to get to San Antonio ASAP! In the midst of getting prepared for that, I go see a doc for some pain in my leg that ends up to be shingles. Hey, not the end of the world but pretty dang painful! Just a little cherry on top. LOL! The bottom line is….in the middle of all this craziness we got to slow down and see what was really important (family, love, those around us that we may take for granted, etc). So although the circumstance in our lives seemed pretty rough….Jesus’ consistancy in our lives got us through it and it was BLESSED!

PS Her dad is home from the hospital recovering and my pain is almost GONE! God is good…ALL the time!

What’s up world? Sorry I have been crazy busy that I have neglected you. Not any more… Well, let me catch you all up to date. Our debut event at Dallas Pride was amazing and we are looking forward our next one in Ft Worth for their Pride Picnic on Oct.10th. The response from the community was basically “why haven’t you guys started this sooner?” Good question? But all we know is….we are fired up and ready to do this hard core now. I’m just so sick and tired of sittin’ around watching our community get swallowed up by the lies of society saying….”no, you aren’t worthy or God’s love and yes, you are going to hell!” At “Pride in the Truth” we are determined to share the AMAZIN love of Jesus for ALL people. We aint perfect…but we sure know how to love and share the truth…and so that’s what we’re signed up to do. Lots of love!
