The Lookout Bar & Grill has been Maple Grove’s best tradition for food, fun, and family gatherings since 1958. This establishment is proud to boast that it has been family owned and operated in the same location and building for its entire history.

With such a great history, we wanted to include some of their great old photos in banners and their complete history on the About Us page.

The old site was on our Site Management Console (SMC), but this time, we were able to include a wider design, add some new functionality and plug-ins that will make it easier for the client to update their information. 

The client’s improved functionality was also complemented by SEO URLs that will improve their Search Engine Optimization.  

Some on the new unique functionality:

• My Lookout – in this section users can share experiences they have had at The Lookout or with the catering services, by submitting a brief story and even photos!
  
  

• Polls – the client has the ability to add poll questions to different sections of the site. They plan on gathering information to help them determine what kinds of bands they should be booking.
  
  

• Calendars – check out all the events at a monthly glance or search by date. You can also see the Banquet Room Availability.

Websites these days and moving forward are being built with so much more rich media and interactive components that really aren’t suited for IE6.  Many times you won’t even be able to interact with some of the components made for that website because some developers don’t even build their sites for IE6 capabilities.

At Prime, we build our sites to look and function the same as if you were viewing them in IE 6 or 7, Firefox, Opera or Safari.  I’m guessing within the next year or so IE 6 is going to be considered obsolete and we’re going to create sites without having to worry about IE6’s lack of functionality.

So you’re probably wondering "How do I know if I have Internet Explore 6?"

Here’s how to check:  Open your IE Browser, Click "Help" in the Menu bar, then click on "About Internet Explorer."  A pop-up window will appear telling you your Version.  If the first number in your version is 6 then you have IE6.  If this is the case, I would strongly recommend upgrading to Internet Explorer 7.

Why Upgrade?

• Better Security – IE 7 provides Phishing Filters to protect you from fraud websites.  IE 7 also has reduced the change of being Hacked versus older versions include IE6.
• Tabbed Browsing -  Instead of opening multiple IE browser windows you can just have one running with multiple browser tabs withing that one browser screen.  Very very helpful.
• RSS Feeds – You can run your Blog feeds right in your IE browser.
• Extended Validation of Websites – Just another way to protect you from fraudulent websites.
• Increased Functionality – Probably the key ingredient, most sites run faster and the interactive content is much much smoother.

All in all it’s really a no-brainer to update your version if you’re still running IE 6.  If you’re interested in learning more about all the enhancements in IE 7 click here.

Microsoft is working on coming out with an even newer version, IE 8.  It’s actually out of beta version now but I’d maybe wait a few more months before installing this version.

It may take a little while to get comfortable with Internet Explorer 7, but believe me you’ll start seeing and interacting with websites the way they were meant to be.

Not only was Prime able to add warmth and a more visually appealing appearance to their new site, but we added incredible functionality and improved on-line visibility. By putting Mega Homes onto a Content Management System , they have the ability to update their site, on their own, to keep the users informed and up-to-date. They can keep their Open House information updated and current, showcase their model homes available for sale, and also provide the website guests all of the necessary information about the Dayton/Maple Grove neighborhoods they build in, including school district information, virtual tours and a neighborhood slideshow.
